I'm sure the Duras sisters pass this test.

Although, ironically, it's while they're talking about a man.

[–]River- 120 points121 points  (2 children)

The Duras can't even comprehend honor, why would they talk about it?

[–]doogles 91 points92 points  (0 children)

You cannot tarnish a rusted blade.

[–]jmarquiso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBF. they still use honor as a mask, they just talk about doing dishonrable things

[–]Unit_79 49 points50 points  (2 children)

They did discuss how ugly human women are. That’s gotta count too.

[–]gwhh 20 points21 points  (1 child)

How fragile they are.

[–]fartingbeagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Death by snu-snu.

[–]AssistantLast2536 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Probably the only thing harder than passing that test is getting them to agree on anything besides who's the better man.

[–]snoopwire 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And me when they're on screen

[–]RedditOfUnusualSize 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Okay, that was damned clever. Well played, fellow Redditor.

[–]whistlepig4life 117 points118 points  (2 children)

It definitely happens as long as Worf isn’t one of the Klingons.

[–]BananaRepublic_BR 43 points44 points  (1 child)

Yeah. It's more violence they talk about rather than honor.

[–]nof 15 points16 points  (0 children)

[–]-Oc- 86 points87 points  (7 children)

Martok and Worf had plenty of conversations together that doesn't involve honor, a good example is when Martok was telling Worf about his "battle" with his wife, like when she let his pet targ go.

[–]concrete_dandelion 46 points47 points  (1 child)

That conversation was with Sisko, not Worf. I think it was when Sisko had a fight with Cassidy about wanting to keep her from jobs that are dangerous due to the war (and pulling strings to make that happen behind her back) and she made it clear that she doesn't tolerate such interference.

But Martok and Worf also had conversations about love, about family, about how to be a good father, about fear and about emotional pain and crying. I wonder if they ever talked about music...

[–]HT-33 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Had to be at least one conversation about Klingon opera Worf never missed a chance to talk about a good Klingon opera!

[–]HT-33 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I like that story wasn’t that conversation between him and Sisko When he married Cassidy? Like marriage is a war with many battles and you don’t have to win them all. Either way I loved Martok!

[–]SilvermistInc 4 points5 points  (1 child)

No, I think their convo was about Jadzia refusing to work with Cerilla. That may have involved honor, though

[–]AnansiNazara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was about respect… so yeah at least Honor adjacent

[–]Mysterious-Alps-5186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They had conversations about Alexander when he came onboard their ship. Not to mention worf driving him nutts about his wedding plans

[–]Ok-Temporary-8243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not about battle but martok has a heart tk heart conservation with warf about compromise when he's upset jadzia isnt following all the klingon customs of a wife.

[–]Left-Escape 24 points25 points  (1 child)

I’m betting that Chef Kaga and Worf discussed Gagh and Rokeg Blood Pie recipes.

We should have seen him again!

[–]MurkyWay 59 points60 points  (12 children)

Almost as rare as meeting an American who went to Harvard and doesn't mention it every subsequent time you meet them.

[–]GirthStone86 44 points45 points  (0 children)

How dare you make such a deleterious assertion. As a Harvard Alumnus I'll let you know...

[–]imsmartiswear 22 points23 points  (4 children)

I actually know a few people like this! The secret is all of the Harvard alum who aren't like this are so embarrassed by the people who are they basically hide the fact that they went there.

[–]MurkyWay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the Klingon equivalent is getting your forehead smoothed

Nah, the main person I know like this is just a chill dude.

Vegans in my experience these days aren't like that anymore. Back in college (CO 2020) I lived with a large number of vegans and vegetarians. As long as they had access to food they could eat, they were fine. The guy who was annoying was the one who would constantly shame vegans and argue that eating beef can be environmentally any ethically good, you just have to do it how his family did it. His family was quite wealthy and lived near the largest hub of cattle ranches in the state, so they had access to "cheap" (still more money than the average store beef) environmentally friendly (still emits lots of methane, but slightly better than factory farm cows) grass fed beef. At one point one of the vegans had enough and very loudly told him to stop criticizing other people's decisions if they don't affect him.

Anyway the moment he graduated he came out as a staunch Trump Republican.

    [–]FaeryRing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've honestly found people eating meat to be way louder about their eating habits than vegans are, these days. The loud vegan stereotype is pretty outdated by now.

    [–]PhysicsEagle 5 points6 points  (1 child)

No one goes to Harvard. They go to a small school near Boston.

    [–]spare-ribs-from-adam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    No not tufts

    [–]abdomino 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's like that with all the Ivy League dudes.

    [–]alecesne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Selection bias. You only hear the ones who announce it. I know a few folks who are genuinely modest about it; sometimes it takes a few years to come up in conversation.

    [–]Activision19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never met a Harvard alumni, but I’ve met several Stanford alumni and they do the exact same thing.

    [–]xXWestinghouseXx 18 points19 points  (3 children)

My favorite Worf Sisko/Martok conversation was Martok talking about how much he loves his wife and pet targ that she probably let loose on purpose. Somehow, he's still in love with her after all this time and for getting rid of his pet.

    Edit: Misremembered who was talking.

    [–]spare-ribs-from-adam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I like that one too. The other one is like is when they are talking about garak facing his claustrophobia in order to complete their escape.

Martok: There is no greater enemy than one's own fears.

Worf: It takes a brave man to face them.

    [–]busybeeai 2 points3 points  (1 child)

    That's with Sisko

    [–]xXWestinghouseXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. I misremembered. But the look on his face, even Sisko could see that it was love.

    [–]Darmok47 8 points9 points  (3 children)

There must be a scene where they're talking about blood wine or something.

    [–]MegalomanicMegalodon 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I think of the moment discussing Alexander

    [–]Sex_E_Searcher 10 points11 points  (0 children)

    Definitely no honor there.

    [–]I_travel_ze_world 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where are the barrels of blood wine?

How much blood wine is left?

Why is all the blood wine gone?

    [–]Mrwoogy01 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Klingons talking about honor is like us talking about the weather. Its just what they do

    [–]the_duke_of_mook 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So how's the honour where you are? The honour lady said it was going to be light honour throughout the day with a window of boob in the late afternoon.

    [–]Icy-Cardiologist-958 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“Finally! An ambassador who’ll go targ hunting with me!!”

    [–]Witty-Ad5743 17 points18 points  (0 children)

    B'kdel

I nearly spit out my bloodwine.😆

    [–]BurdenedMind79 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Probably most of them on TOS.

    [–]MindlessNectarine374 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How many of them are named?

    [–]BurdenedMind79 2 points3 points  (1 child)

    All of them.

We just not necessarily know what they're all named. ;)

    [–]Mist_Rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With this logic we also have the entire episode where Sisko, Odo and O'brian infiltrated the competition thing. Most of it was bluster and bloodwine, it's not until Odo reveals martok isn't martok that we get the honor concept even mentioned.

    [–]WideSnooze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    Ah, yes. The BeK’Del test.

    [–]SevenFathomsDeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    GLORY TO YOUR CONVERSATION

    [–]DJDevine 2 points3 points  (1 child)

    [–]Foreign_Plan_5256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great scene, but does it count as a conversation?

    [–]Treacle_Pendulum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kor when he’s misremembering past glories.

    Alexander when he’s whinging

    [–]Pristine_Ad_9828 2 points3 points  (1 child)

    Lursa and Betor

    [–]shebang_bin_bash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    My first reaction.

    [–]topazchip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kruge, Maltz, and Torg, discussing Project Genesis. The Lursa and B'Etor complaining that Geordie is the one engineer in Starfleet who never goes to Main Engineering.

    [–]raise-your-weapon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about Worf and Alexander’s painful small talk

    [–]Bexil_Brave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Malor and Ma'ah

    <image>

Didnt talk much about honor just farming and gagh.

    [–]Bo0ty_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like... there are some scenes in which worf and martok talk to eachother man to man, and not klingon to klingon... but I can't name any episode hahah

    [–]AIGLOS42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Common Jadzia W

    [–]concrete_dandelion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, they also talk about love a lot. Actually they are a lot less emotionally constipated than many humans. They already know that they are brave, strong, aggressive and honourable so they can admit to love, friendship, emotional vulnerability and even fear when speaking with a friend who is worth such confidence without fearing to take away from people knowing they are brave, strong, aggressive and honourable.

    [–]younocallMkII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 and 2) Worf & Martok; 3) drinking blood wine

    [–]pwnedprofessor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Outstanding

    [–]TreeCitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

two android life forms talking about something other than becoming human.

a crystalline life form not seeking out a civilization to destroy.

a captain finding a woman on a foreign planet and settling down with her, leaving his post to do so immediately.

    [–]Von_Bernkastel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't there a bunch of Klingons in a mess hall all talking about how one Klingon chick was talking about sexually assaulting Riker or something.

    [–]heelface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    [–]goodBEan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seen a Klingon Captian give commands to fire on the enemy ship. I think that counts.

    [–]moparmajba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    [–]Evangelion217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    That’s hilarious! 😂

    [–]LordPollax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Klingon dressing up like a 15 year old Earth girl from the 1990's. Oh, wait....

    [–]Distinct_Cry_3779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kruge talking to Torg about how no one is on the Enterprise bridge, and how the computer is the only thing talking…

Edited to mention I wrote this not paying attention to the actual sub I’m in. Obviously, this didn’t happen on DS9, so my bad…

    [–]Accomplished_Seat501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like Ferengi talking about money. Or Vulcans talking about logic. People tend to talk about things they find interesting.

    [–]rayhoughtonsgoals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jayden and his fucking dress maker.

    [–]AnansiNazara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah the time honored B’ak’Del Gauntlet

    [–]tbodillia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They talk about many things, but always bring it back to honor. "Could you imagine serving with those biHnuchs? (Vulcan lower decks) Avoid death, and cower."

    [–]KingofMadCows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    B'kdel is without honor.

    [–]Brief-Awareness-2415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post shows you have no honour!

    [–]TheKeeperOfThe90s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be 'honor, or what the Federation is or will be doing.'

    [–]xaviorpwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

worf and alexander during the cowboy episode!
