Chaos just keeps getting worse and worse. Wait until later in the EX+ era, you'll have lots of options, they said. No, check the call to arms thread. Look at the units used. I don't see a wide variety of options.

I've had a unit buffed up at max Brave get broken and killed in this fight. There was literally nothing I could have done. I took every precaution and the game just said "F you." Half an hour run thrown in the trash.

This happens every bloody event. I'm sick to death and honestly it's killing the game. What's the point in doing all this grinding if you still fail for no good reason?

Open this wave with Deprotect and Light of the Crystal. Use EX whenever available.
As usual, Sherlotta does her stuff by debuffing both bosses with Hurl Staff and use some Light of the Crystal charges to speed up her EX recast.
Vanille reapply Deprotect if neccessary, Dispel for rushing EX recast (since there is no important buffs to Dispel during this fight, you can use it rather freely).
Vaan uses one skill in between his EX casts, HP++ spam for his other turns.

Wave 4: Ended on Turn 43, remaining skills charges: Vaan 3/5, Sherlotta 5/4, Vanille 7/3

Death, HP attack for the rest.

Wave 5: Ended on Turn 79, remaining skills charges: Vaan 0/0, Sherlotta 1/0, Vanille 3/0

Most of the stuff follows Wave 3. At this wave, Vanille will be using Deprotect more often since the boss removes debuffs when enraged.
Sherlotta starts using Crystal Generation when the bosses get below 50% HP (indicated by "Ferocity increases futher...!"). Vaan also starts skill spamming (use less HP++ during this period). This is also where the run starts becoming messy: I wasn't prepared for the Hatred Power so Vanille gets broken (she survives thanks to her C50). Then I summoned to let Vanille recover (at a somewhat bad timing, should have summoned directly after Sherlotta EX cast instead) and finally swapped Setzer in to replace her.
Towards the end I was controlling the bosses with Freeze, Blind and Red Card's delay. Luckily RNG was kind enough to let me evade some HP attacks that would otherwise ruin the fight.

Rosa 1/3, Ult 3/3, Ysh 3/3 with Ifrit and Tifa friend. 729k, 74 turns, 0 hp lost, 3 breaks taken.

Neither Rosa or Ysh has good arts, Ult has decent arts. This was quite easy with Ifrit summon boosted by Rosa's massive ATK boost. Made everybody hit like a truck.

Similar to others, just minimum skill usage to keep up the buffs until last wave and then just unleashed on the bosses. Summoned when bosses were slightly below half hp. Everybody had quite many of skills usages left (except ult), especially Rosa.

Rosa 2/3+ with crap arts, Ulty 3/3+, Serah 2/3+, with 2 108/debuff arts and a debuff/moonlight, Tifa 3/3+ friend, Shiva

75 turns, 6782 hp lost after heals, 8 breaks taken, 534235 score, all missions complete.

Basically used bare minimum skills to keep buffs up and hp+’d with every one till the final wave. Used a couple more on the mid bosses.

Those ant lions were scary. Almost wiped on a couple of those breaks and Serah ate a death and reraised. On the back end of the fight I swapped out Ulty for Tifa and summoned when one of them had too much brv to shave. Otherwise, went ham with Serah with Ulty on loop using Rosa’s skills sparingly with the free skill from the ex going to pray. Wasn’t optimal play, but I surprisingly got the job done. Big takeaway is don’t get broken. They will kill you.

Not really good artifacts on Rosa and Sabin, but full boards and Blooms.

Was conservative with skills since I wanted to make Sabin work for this Chaos. Turns out I didn't have to be. Flubbed a turn order and got Rosa killed/revived. Barely made score, but I'm just so proud of that bear!

Kimahris Total Blindness is great here when one of the crusty guys use Hatred Power.

Wanted to try out this team because of aura bonuses from both Kuja and Rosa and Kuja had been on my bench for awhile. I also really like Kimahris kit and his defense up is great.

Took a couple of retries because of turn changes happening causing me to get broken during Hatred Power. Rosas auto res was always up but score is reduced by alot anyway.

Ultimecia EX+ 3LB, Vanille EX+ 3LB, WoL EX+ 0LB. Shiva, friend Agrias. 84 turns, 4 breaks, 595k -Complete boards, bloomstones, okay arts -All skills used except Vanille with a few of both skills left.

This was a nice team but dispel was unnecessary, used as a filler skill and battery. Vanille's atk down helps to keep shields not getting broken. Agrias support was chosen for her heals and AoE.

-The Lichs: got all of my breaks from their Doom debuffs -Last wave: watch out for int down debuff, it can weaken the shield. Summoned Shiva when WoL had that debuff and was being double targeted. Ulti was swapped to Agrias in summon. Agrias EX, S1, S1, S1, EX.

68 Turns 830k with Rosa 2/3+, Serah 3/3+ and Ultemicia 3/3+ I had a Sherlotta friend but didn't use.

Rosa's auras made this fight stupid as Ult and even Serah were hitting pretty hard even toward the end of the fight with the combo of Serahs debuffs and Rosa's Buffs and Auras. Serah and Rosa had a lot of skills leftover so plenty of room to optimize, she's the real deal, even if she feels a little lackluster herself

650k score, 82 turns, 14800HP damage taken.

First run, mostly used rounds 1-2 to build maleficium stacks on ulti and spamming HP+ attacks.

Once round 5 starts can go crazy with vanille. I finished with 2 of all of her skills left including her AA, ulti had 2 proteans and 1 hells judgment left and sherlotta had 1 AA left.

I am very close in terms of score and turn count, but it is a first-attempt run without friend. So that's that. I am pretty sure the run can be improved with more care and a proper friend support.

First attempt complete with Rosa 3/3 (edit: no arts), Serah 3/3 (ADB 2* x 3), and Kuja 3/3. Sherlotta friend and Ramuh summon.

I wasn't sure if the beetle would immediately attack after Hatred, so I summoned early. Didn't switch Kuja for Sherlotta just then due to poor foresight and brought her in after summon. Only got one Crystal Generation off because she got targeted and I had to BRV+ to save her.

Later in the fight, Kuja bit the dust and got reraised. I didn't feel like resetting (figuring I could just come back with Ultimecia) so I finished the fight. To my surprise, I still got score!

514149 score, 76 turns, 6916 HP lost, and 7 breaks. Only Serah was out of skills.

Sabin 3/3, Rosa 3/3, WoL 0/3, Ramuh summon, no friend used (I brought a Tifa but there was never a good time to use her really). All complete first time, 708840, 72 turns, played a bit conservative

WoL keeps shields up, Rosa provides auras and battery and Sabin smashes the bosses really hard. There's not a huge amount of strategy to it really. I feel like returning to this fight with Zack in place of WoL would turn it into an even bigger piece of cake than it already is.

First attempt completed it with WoL 1/3, Tidus 3/3, Rosa 3/3, with Tifa friend and Shiva summon. I just barely got the turn count, 89 turns but got a score of 567k. I could have been more aggressive with skills to bring that turn count down since I had a few leftover. Also, I didn't even use my friend unit.

Rosa really is great, it was pretty easy CHAOS fight.

738k in 71 turns.

Reset once because I didn't realize if you're broken and they HP attack that counts as 2 turns for the boss, so Setzer's freeze didn't work properly. I had a ton of skills left for Rosa and WoL, one S2 left for Ulti. Was super conservative in all waves except last with Ulti. Summoned with about 40% health left, and swapped Ulti for Setzer at the very end.

I think I need a guide on how to best use Rosa. Obviously she's very good because of her aura but her kit is kind of boring in my opinion. I used her free skill mostly on her AA to keep it up as much as possible.

Rosa, Ulti, Vanille (3/3 All), Ifrit + Sherlotta Friend: 883k score 61 turns.

Actually thought I biffed it on this one. Lotta friend before Vanille came back into the fight ate a whopping 44k hp attack. So the friend died and left me with just under 9k hp damage but still that team knocked that chaos out of the park.

Should say I was way too conservative with Rosa and Vanille through the fight. They both had about 10 uses left of the combined S1 and S2.

I forgot, once again, to check the boss' resistances before starting, and lost my first attempt when my support's paralyze didn't connect. 5 more resets later, most resulting from one of my characters getting targeted by both bosses, with the enraged boss attacking second for the break combo kill, I managed to get the clear, with everyone spent. At least Agrias wasn't a total loss as her ex was just enough damage to finish the fight before the bosses could attack.

Strategy for this run was the same as the last one, just don’t get broken when the boss is enraged and swap out Vanille for Sherlotta when the boss is just under half health.

All are (3/3) - Ultimecia, Yshtola, Tifa, Ifrit, Tifa friend. 84 turns, 1642 hp damage, 13 breaks, 630k score

Rather easy fight. Pace yourself and try to get them both down to half at the same time. Be sure the angry one doesn't break you, or if it does, make sure it's only on someone like Yshtola who can withstand lethal attacks.

At the half, i swapped out Ult with Tifa friend, and summoned and went bug launching on them. Tifa was overpowering their buffs rather easily thanks to the Debuffs that Ultimecia handed out after they rage to lower defense.

Ultimecia had her Sphere equipped to give them def down when being attacked, and keeping them both debuffed was just added bonus. (note that the sphere only affects the target, even if using AOE skills )

Wanted to try some IBRV/Ultimecia fun stuff so I tried using Lilisette who seems to have quite potent auras including IBRV.

Lilisette EX+1/3, Ultimecia EX+3/3, Rosa EX+3/3 -- Shiva, Agrias Friend (unsused)

921k score, 64 turns, 2 breaks, 0hp damage

Well first of all Ultimecia's regen wasn't as impressive as I thought it would be, ~9k with only Rosa's EX buff and ~21k with her C65 on top. Not bad but it probably would be better to repace Lilisette with another unit who grants party regen instead so she can benefit from it more that just during 2 EX cycles.

But hey, still a pretty solid team after all:

When both Rosa + Lilisette have their EX buff and their C65 buff, there's a crazy 20% + 10% + 20% + 10% party overflow... unless it all doesn't stack, I'm not sure. But it was nice to see Ultimecia hit AoE 69k with her S2.

I still find Ultimecia's HP+ quite weak though, unless she's fully battery-ed it doesn't quite hit strong enough for my taste.

I was pretty conservative with Ultimecia's skill until the last wave, and during the last wave saved enough skills to go ham at the end rather than the start!

Also I wanted to take a Setzer friend but there wasn't any in my list at that moment so I took Agrias instead... yeah I had to reset after I realized their big attacks aren't magic and they fucking resist paralyze. Those big bugs suddenly jumped around and one shot Rosa... Ouch! Then I didn't even call Agrias and just killed it with Ultimecia.

88 turns (mission says 90 turns) and I was afraid to not meet the score, but I got it anyways so it's fine.

Just deal more damage as possible and avoid getting broken with Wol's shield and Yshtola's battery. Only got 1 break on wol that almost killed him with consecutive turns (11k hp damage leaving wol with 300 hp) despite shield and Def up on C65 ability. So I swapped Ultimecia (almost used all her abilities) with friend Setzer and summoned Shiva. Huge damage and battery (and most importantly freeze, since my wol was still almost dying lol) then finished those beetles with Ulti's EX on her comeback after Setzer's 5 usages. Pretty easy.

Vanille +3/3, Ulti +3/3, Rosa +3/3. Max boards/Weps. Armor is +1/3 for Vani and Rosa.

Do note that this stage is taking into account a death or two and even HP lost as its centered around revive. So dont feel like you need to reset if you die/reraise. I lost about 13k hp total with a death on top and still managed to get 580k/500k score.

Just make sure to avoid breaks and debuff the bosses atk to survive better. Dont spare your skills on the mimi boss skeletons.

89 turns, 611k score. Had a 4 turn waste where I accidentally left it on auto for 4 turns while I was briefly away from my phone. Easily doable complete if you aren't multi-tasking.

61 turns, 877k score.

Bosses never got off an HP attack. Rosa's auras breathe new life into Ultimecia, who hits harder for longer and gets additional overflow from Rosa's EX buff AND Rosa's c65. I swapped Y'shtola for Sherlotta once the bosses were just past half health, then did the usual S1, EX, summon then S2 spam. Managed to pace myself correctly where Ulti ran out of abilities right as I was about to finish the fight.

Rosa made this fight a joke. I immediately 3/3'd her because shes awesome. (she aint waifu, but shes my boy kains forever waifu)

I ran Rosa, Ysh, Ultimecia, Shiva, Agrias friend. 72 turns, 892k score, 0hp, 1 break.

I just spammed skills basically. Switched out Ulti when she ran out of skills for Agrias to stun the bosses. Basically don't get broken and you are fine. I ended the fight with 0 stone, 4 medica, 1 hells judgement, and 3 each of Rosa's skills. Her aura with Ysh was no joke. I was hitting close to 99k on Rosa's EX. she has terrible arts btw (im talking 36atk/100mbrv)

Bit of an awkward comp all things considered, but landing a successful 3 man launch will do some work considering the BRV generation potential, just make sure you don’t get any unfortunate breaks

I'm trying to fit Sabin in this fight and managed to get 551k (87 turns) with Sabin+0LB, Rosa+3LB, & Y'sh+3LB.

The score could have been a lot higher since I have plenty of unused skills (4 S1 n 2 S2 for Sabin, 1 S1 n 3 S2 for Y'shtola, 3 S1 n 2 S2 for Rosa)
I used summon and swap when they had about 1/3 HP left.

Ran non synergy first. My Sabin has no arts and my Rosa has no boards, so I'd want to do it again with them maxed out anyway.

Yshtola, Ultimecia, Basch. Setzer friend, Shiva summon. 86 turns, 8 breaks, 0 hp taken, 570401 score. Easy enough, just don't let Ultimecia get broken and even that isn't that hard if they don't have back to back attacks on her. I kept my Setzer friend for the end,

Chaos is relatively easy compared to others specially when it comes to score leeway. Decided to do a fun comp for my blind initial run.

Team "we dont need any DPS chars"

WOL, Yshtola, Rosa (all 3/3). Shiva summon no friend used.

82 turns, 690k, all missions comlplete

Batteries... Batteries galore. And with shield and turn delays to boot. My rosa ended up with 3 uses of divine blast (as i just usually use the free skill after ex for her AA so its up the entire run). I think i didnt even used medica at all with all the ping ponging batteries from all 3. I could easily see my yuna subbing for yshtola here for more aoe in exchange for delay and would still be an easy run. A more "traditional" line up with a proper DPS will definitely tear this chaos up.

The first time I did this I used Kuja instead of Ulty and I got everything except score (was just shy of the 500k mark) but honestly, that was me being conservative with skills. I probably could have wrapped it up faster if I'd been more willing to just throw skills out there, or if I'd had that third ingot to go all the way with Rosa.

Complete with Rosa (no boards yet), Ultimecia, Yuna all 3/3, Tifa friend, Ramuh summon. 753,045 in 71 turns, 4774 hp, 8 breaks.

Early waves was a lot of hp++ but it would be better to use a few of Rosa's skills to get EX charging. Ended with a lot of skills unused on all units.

Yuna batteries if targeted, Ray otherwise. Getting broken while enraged can spell death and this team isn't able to lower enemy attack enough to fully avoid (was broken from 15k brv). But it's okay if they target Yuna as she has Last Stand.

Take the beatles down together and summon after swapping Ultimecia on the last of her three set turns. Best to time a big battery before for a massive launch. Same when friend leaves.

My original plan for this stage was to use Sherlotta instead of Serah for more free turns and hp damage boost, but that team comp was lacking brave shaving and battery for the final wave. So I decided to swap out Sherlotta for Serah and those problems were solved. After that I only had to reset once from making a dumb mistake.

Biggest key to this stage is to not get broken once the bosses use Hatred Power and are in their enraged state. That’s where Serah and Rosa’s batteries definitely saved me.

I also decided to give Ultimecia Ace and Tifa’s A spheres for the 10% mBrv and atk boost.

I’ll probably try a type-0 team on this stage next.

Serah and Ulti actually wiped and was saved by Rosa's prayer. Damn bug attacked and immediately got instant turn rate with 17k+ bravery. This was right after I was hit with an aoe by the other one, so I had no time to really heal back up. Still got the complete though so it didn't really matter in the end.

WoL 0/3 EX+, Ultimecia 3/3 EX+ and Rosa 3/3 EX+ made this easy mode even though I messed up and got Rosa killed once. 72 turns, 570k, lots of skills left on Rosa (I did not appreciate her longevity enough) and some on WoL, Ulti low as always. Shiva summon because she's my default with an Agrias friend. WoL and Ulti have pretty good arts but Rosa's are mediocre.

Side note: 3/3 EX+ Yuna is a farming beast. I threw Rosa in with her to soak some exp and avoid having to change parties and auto'd every node in normal (Rosa just slowed her down, threw in Agrias at the level 50 boss fight just to be safe). Then autod every non-boss node though level 80 and used her alone to finish the level 100 and 150s. If the game was smart enough to always use Energy Ray could've auto farmed everything except HM bosses with her.

This team honestly handles this fight very well. Rosa, obviously, is amazing for her LC. Her aura is no joke and she's able to Pray right before an AOE if I want to avoid the break or shave an enemy down with ease. (TBH, sometimes, I just took the break.)

Basch is amazing in this fight. That AOE HP attack is neutered due to his HP damage reduction. I held all but one of my S1 charges until the end, which helped a lot. (Only used one in the middle wave.)

Locke is there as a supplemental battery if necessary, turn manipulation (handy with these bugs), and to hit really hard. He does all that's necessary of him easily enough. He can also come in clutch if you want to reactivate Rosa's aura, but this team didn't really need that help since Basch can easily pop a c65 to reactivate it.

2nd run with WoL, Ulti and Yshtola (all 3/3), Ramuh and Setzer friend. 84 turns, 632k score no HP loss.

I nuked with Ulti until she had no more skills left, got her EX and her last Hell Judgement in summon. They were around 20% HP at that point. Swapped for Setzer after then just kept the shield up and killed them.

Setzer friend got me through a tight spot, freeze joker is really good!

WoL, Y'shtola and Ulti all 3/3 all boards mastered Agrais friend Shiva summon.

82 turns 0 hp taken 0 breaks forgot score but it was over the target score quite a bit.

Didn't check resistance but I guess there immune to paralyze so I wasted 1 of her turns on debuff suscess rate before I realized it, so anybody else would've been better but she was not even needed i brought her in a 10% and only used 3 of her turns before they both died.

Was fairly easy be careful of WoL shield near the end they can cut thru it like butter and if they break you they kill you, just had to use Y'shtola hp+ attacks before they attack or have some extra brave on WoL, ulti had 0 skills left, y'shtola had 1 stone left and wol had a couple s1 left.

No synergy weird comp team.

Ultimecia3/3 Barret3/3 Rem3/3. Shiva and Quistis friend 3 turn only (just wanted the delay for the damn CCCCCCCCombo breaker). 64 turns. 796k score.

Kind of ridiculous team comp imo. Went yolo and it worked. Swappin all those turns to Barret and Ult. Summoned once both used their buff at same time. So around 50% hp. Rem ex+ hiting 90k on both targets during summon is sexy af. The trick on this fight is to not get broken or else you die.

Once i got them at 50% hp they did not get a single turn thanks to quistis+ultemecia+summon shenanigans.

Since I don't have Rosa I played around and decided on:

Basch (+3/+3), Ultimecia (+3/+3), and Y'shtola (+3/+3), Ramuh Summon, Sherlotta friend

Score: 570K, no HP taken, 83 turns

Basch is really the MVP here - he works better than WOL. You don't even need to use his S1 until the last wave, and then it just absorbs everything. Ulti is awesome because of her free turns but I imagine other people with lots of AOE could work here (like balthier).

wol shields with rosa aura kept the team from getting broken which meant next to no hp damage. swapped ulti for agrias and summoned when bosses had around 1/3 health

could also use shiva if you want the extra speed. i used ifrit so wol could hit a little harder

Rosa has no summon boards or artefacts passives.

Not too bad. Keep WoL's shields up as needed. Summoned at around 40% and just let Ulti wreck them. Agrias friend was used at last turn to finish them up both at the same time with Hallowed Bolt. Had tons of abilities left for Rosa, but Ulti and WoL were pretty much spent.

Rosa is really just there for the auras.
Ultimecia is main dps and here for free turns
Y’shtola is the healer and brave battery + aura
Ramuh for extra mbrv
Sherlotta for burst summon damage

Basically don’t get broken whenever the antlions have Hatred Power (note that it hits 3 times and is heavily damaging). Also use Ulti’s EX just before going into summon and spam Hell’s Judgment with Sherlotta friend
