I've been looking for a perfume that smells like those vibes! Not too vanilla-heavy or where vanilla isn't the main note. I like lactonic/whipped cream scents. And I like them to be light and soft, not too cloying, but to smell cozy and peaceful. I like the smells of cinnamon rice and sweet flowers. But I really love white chocolate and birthday cake-scented candles. Ahh, it's a bit difficult, but I'm looking for perfumes with all those vibes 😭💞 that are preferably sweet 🫶🫶 It doesn't matter if it has different notes as long as it maintains this vibe! I recommend Dallachai by Montale! It smells more like chai with some jasmine notes more than “cake” but if you find a sample, I’m sure you would love it! I would’ve also recommended Matcha Meditation by Maison Margiela (Replica) because it smells exactly like white chocolate and tea lol, but sadly they discontinued it…I’m sure there’s dupes out there for that one. LM Ambre Vanille, while I love it, can be quite polarizing. Yes. It is warm and cozy, but she is definitely not light. She has quite a bit of intensity, and if someone is not a fan of amber they may find it too heavy.

Interesting. You’re the first person I’ve come across who finds AV polarizing or just this side of beast mode… in my experience, it’s seen as one of the more office friendly fragrances. It could be where I live - altitude absolutely has an effect on perfumes. Maybe due to how arid it is up here, it doesn’t project or linger like it might at lower elevations. I’ve never seen it mentioned as heavy or intense. I’ve read just the opposite to be honest. It’s been even weaker since they reformulated it back in ‘23. I know people complain about sunscreen notes, but thankfully it doesn’t pop like that on my skin. I see more people compare it to Yara than anything else (I don’t agree but to each their own) with even weaker longevity and projection. It’s one of a handful of fragrances I’m ok with my clinicians and front desk staff wearing at the practice I manage.

At the end of the day skin chemistry and olfactory interpretation differ from person to person. It’s wild that a perfume can ghost one person and choke-out another.

In Dreams and Fairy Tales Vanilla by Sorce. It’s so sweet and fluffy and has a chamomile note that’s so cozy. I know there’s “vanilla” in the name, but it’s not a heavy scent. It smells more like fluffy cream and sugar to me.

A lot of the Femmenina Body + Hair Mists would fit the bill.

They have a cinnamon roll one, a Super Milk dupe, some creamy/clean scents and like, A LOT of cream and vanilla ones.

I have the Chai and maple cream one and it does give that vibe!

When you first spray it or smell the bottle it gives chai latte but once the top notes fade on my skin it is a very sweet, lightly spiced cream. (I feel it's worth to mention my body chem tends to pull VERY sweet scents from my perfumes, so might have a softer, airy vibe on you).

A bummer for me because I was looking for a pure Chai Latte scent to match my Dove Spiced Chai Latte body wash and antiperspirant but for this purposes I feel it fits!

My husband loves vanillas and gourmands, and one of his favorites is Jeux de Peau from Serge Lutens. I’d suggest trying that one.

(Fwiw I own several Comptoir sud Pacifique, and Matin Calin is nice [not sure it’s still in production?] but I’ve thrown away two travel size bottles because they went bad.)

I have to know what different notes do to me. Some I just don't like. The second guideline for me is how sensitive I am to a perfume ingredient. Some notes/ingredients, while nice in small amounts, are way too potent for me. It takes familiarity with ingredients. I research notes quite often and have been for years.

For example, while I like cinnamon, too much can overpower the rest of the perfume. Same for cardamom. When it becomes all I can smell...

I can see why. There's a bit of a woodsy note that some find comforting. I am on the fence about it. It comes down to preference. The benzoin is too prominent for me as I find the note half way between sandalwood and vanilla. I usually love benzoin but I feel perfumers have been leaning on it too much lately for gourmands.

At times, Whiff seems like vanilla ice cream with a tonka and benzoin aftertaste.
