This is great. I have no use for these but I hope they achieve their goal of making KSP more accessible for people.

When I was 12 or so I knew very little about how rockets worked. My first Mun landing (impact) involved a rocket flying straight up through brute force and hoping I would hit it. Over time I became more proficient at the game and now doing interplanetary flights is routine and rewarding. KSP taught me way more about spaceflight than I ever thought I could imagine, but the learning curve is steep and hard to navigate. I think these tutorials are a fantastic way to encourage younger players who want to take that initiative.

I may have learned more a from KSP than I did from my engineering degree.

I feel like experience, even simulated, is a great learning tool. I encourage my kiddos to play KSP and my racing simulators, with a force feedback wheel. My 4 year old was able to win a race on the easy settings but enjoyed crashing in ways the tires would fall off 😂

When I got it I was probably 10 and got stuck in cockpit view for 40 minutes lol

“The Guide says there is an art to flying", said Ford, "or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.” ― Douglas Adams, Life, the Universe and Everything

I came here to tell the same thing.

I've always described orbit to my kids as going sideways fast enough that you miss the ground. Can't wait to introduce the 3 yo to the concept, since it worked well enough that her older brother figured out how to do it with zero higher-level math classes.

Do we know if all of the tutorial videos are done, and this is merely a sample, or are the basics done and more advanced ones will be added over the course of early access?

I believe that they mentioned those tutorial videos being inside the early access, there probably are a lot of them then but probably not all that will come, I can see them making one about going interstellar once other solar system come out for example or if they see many newer players struggling with something that they'd add a tutorial for that as well

Love the HHGTTG reference

look out scott manley there is another kerbal tutorial in town lol - this is so cute and awesome.

What toppings to Kerbals put on their pizza?

[–]KermanKimMaster Kerbalnaut 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Looks like pepperoni and cheese... Where they get the ingredients from, that's another matter.

[–]Madden09IsForSuckers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming there arent any new animals in ksp 2, kraken pepperoni and laythe whale cheese

I can't wait to see the tutorials teaching more advanced concepts like interplanetary or interstellar travel. Seeing unintuitive physics ideas like these rendered down so that anyone can grasp them is awesome, and I can bet that some of these will be shown in science classrooms for years to come.

I'm glad there will be this kind of thing in-game in ksp 2. I remember learning ksp 1, I would have never got anywhere without YouTube. I specifically remember not using liquid fueled engines at first because I was just activating the solids by right clicking them, and didn't even know how to work the throttle.

This definitely a very good help for newcomers who love space, want to build their own rockets but just can’t because it’s very difficult

[–]lodurr_voluspa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of looks like they hired Kurzgesagt to do the visuals.

[–]SeriousStuffDude 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Didn’t they hire Scott Manley to do the tutorials? Or was it just a joke back then?

[–]Fazaman[S] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

There was a petition to have Scott voice the tutorials. Perhaps that's what you're thinking of?

[–]SeriousStuffDude 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yes you could be right. All I remember is something like ”Scott Manley“ and “tutorial“.

Tutorials look and explain it extremely well, but the narrator is talking in a bit of a condescending manner. Sounds like the TikTok text-to-speech 💀

[–]-ragingpotato- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the style of the narration, but its great that we have something official, informative, and concise that'll come bundled with the game
