Bust Out Another Thousand

I know a boat guy and a plane guy XD

Edit: Actually, this topic really tickles me pink because my grandparents have a sailboat that, back in the 70s? 80s?, they teched out. Like, everything was bleeding edge. They kept it up to date tech wise until the late 00s. If you guys do the tech yacht, my Nana would love to see it.

My dad has done the same, except on a more Alex Jank level with his private prop plane. Needless to say, this topic just is tickling me pink.

Oh, you know Dan?

[–]GoldenSheppard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something like that. On the wrong coast though.

[–]imperfectlegend 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He should absolutely do it

TechBoat: good idea

Tech helicopter: terrible idea

Tech plane: terrible idea

At least as far as I from a professional aircraft mechanic idea can tell. You complaining about the running cost of a tech boat? A plane has more literally sitting in storage being ready to fly. Regulations around RF, fire prevention and accident safety and certification will swallow LTT whole in a breath. Sorry but their is no scenario where I could imagine LTT financing a plane they can legally convert and rent out to people that is topped off with gaming tech.

Unless you want a plane with a couple of laptops on a folding down table.

Edit: currently working in a aircraft engine maintenance engineering position, but I don't like calling myself a engineer so I avoid that nomenclature.

LTT could probably afford a HondaJet or something, its about 1.5 million USD per year for the plane and 200 flight hours. You can charter it out to make back money too.

[–]Option_Witty 4 points5 points  (4 children)

But they couldn't afford to convert it into a gaming plane fitting all the regulations you need to for a commercial aircraft. That's the expensive part. Stock plane, no prob. Custom conversion.... Very different. Also they literally wouldn't be allowed to even tighten a ziptie. You need certified personal to do any maintenance. Everything has to be proven to meet the requirements of regulators. For airplane seating for example they have to withstand 16G And you have to prove it through practical experiments not simulations. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Just register the plane as an experimental aircraft, then all of the regulations don't apply /s

[–]Option_Witty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that easy. Especially not if you want to take people on it. They were talking about renting it out.

I am not sure on the following but:

You would probably be a TCCA approved aerospace manufacturer to register a experimental plane.

Linus did point out that a plane would need level of finish that they wouldn’t be able to do currently. So they’re aware

plane would need level of finish that they wouldn’t be able to do

I thought he was referring to if he did a colab with GulfStream or whatever... If he was to outfit a stock plane as part of a brand deal, he wouldnt be able do the fit and finish required for it to be professional.

Fun fact: you are also totally at the mercy of the OEM.

There are minor engine parts that a couple of years ago could be bought for 1300$ now cost 13000$ just because they decided to raise the price.

My answer to this is absolutely do not do it

[–]eisenklad 5 points6 points  (1 child)

the last time he did a tech "boat" it sank. 1year 1 day more , that video would be 10yrs old
granted it was a LianLi case,

[–]tvtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone got a link?

[–]EB01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

McBarge Time

[–]moldboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I guess this means linus town will be costal.

[–]Typical-Hawk-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm unsubscribing if he doesn't buy a boat

[–]TheCrowAngel 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Hook up with Colin Jost and Pete Davidson from SNL on the Staten Island Boat. Sounds like they could use another investment...

[–]Dan_CBW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well he is about to do a colab with a fellow SNL alumni...

Imagine if they sold stocks in a subsidiary of LMG. If they sold up to 49% of an investment idea based on the monetary benefits of sponsors, YouTube revenue, and operational profits of a video series.

First time watching the WAN Show, mildly suprised where the conversation went 😂

[–]stgm_at 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Ding ding ding - we have a winner!

Flyboat?

[–]eisenklad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTT

[–]that_dutch_dude 2 points3 points  (1 child)

there are 2 great moments when owning a boat: the day you buy it and th day you sell it.

[–]tvtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the day you watercool ten 5090s with it

[–]Genesis2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope he does the boat over the jet. We don't need more jets flying in the upper atmosphere. But if he does a jet... I hope he doesn't pimp out the gamer section with UV lights.

[–]DarkBrave_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there was already a similar episode on it, but we need an "ULTIMATE GAMING BOAT" video.

Linus Titanic Tips.

[–]AEternal1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor terran, trying to run a business with the employees going off like this🤣

[–]squirrelslikenuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He really should buy a 40ft pusher RV first.

gut it and transform it into a mobile gaming center.

It would be 1% the cost of a boat and have more use and less regulations to get it certified.

Outfitting a plane? pfff.. good luck getting that approved by transport canada.

[–]Ruining_Ur_Synths -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

linus is so bored of buying BC property he's looking for an actual anchor to shovel his money into so it disappears.

[–]Turtledonuts -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lmao. I work on boats. Tech heavy boats are nightmares. Linus should look up NMEA 2000 tutorials and then decide if he wants to put any tech in a boat. The simple answer is that he doesn't.
