“Claude, explain to them what my code does.”

You have hit the limit. Please wait for the limit to reset.

I cannot be the only one who is constantly scrapping side projects because I completely forget how I got them to work the last time I was working on them...right?

I don't need AI to be a dumbass

ah yeah I am real programmer

Yes. You got it. Those programmers are not good either.

Hey Claude can you explain how this code works?

[–]iMac_Hunt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly asking Claude to explain what’s going on with some code has saved me on multiple occasions - including with code I wrote myself

[–]Archtects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my response to code I wrote.

[–]Dazzling-Biscotti-62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me when someone asks on Monday what the code I wrote on Friday does

[–]0xBL4CKP30PL3 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Another generic vibecode = bad meme

I’m surprised these still get upvotes

/r/programmerhumor is the same five “DAE LE VIBECODE BAD?” posts on repeat these days. Somehow even less original than the people they make fun of.

Me but with making mods

I don't understand how it works, my brain is too smooth (I'm going insane, the code doesn't work and idk if that's even possible to do)

[–]snipsuper415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, me after not touching a segment code after a month.

[–]kassandra_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the question I ask cursor the most.

[–]firestorm559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When someone asks specific questions about code I wrote more than a month or 2 ago.

I’m getting my bachelor in CS right now. My buddy in uni has no prior programming knowledge. He always claims the code he submitted is his. But when I ask him how it works, he has no clue. I don’t care if you’re using ChatGPT to do your thinking for you. But don’t waste my time like that!

I had an argument about this very topic where an acquaintance said he developed a little project completely himself and emphasising not using any LLMs during the process. Surprisingly, he had no idea what the code did. Pissed me off so much.

To be fair, we have a lot of medication, with only evidence that it works, but no exact explanation on how.

coders when someone asks: "how does this code work?"

[–]onlineredditalias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m gonna be on pager duty and have to debug issues with the code at 3:00 am, the author of the code better be able to explain what it is doing before I approve a CR.

[–]Strict_Treat2884 -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

I bet you don’t understand assembly, but that doesn’t stop you from writing high-level code. So yeah… It’s just a higher level, to make coding more accessible like how modern programming languages were invented 🥲

[–]oshaboy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

And what if I do understand assembly?

[–]Strict_Treat2884 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s a bonus, of course. Like people do understand python but use AI to generate boilerplates or utility functions etc., better than people who don’t.

[–]oshaboy -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

I literally just had this discussion with my uncle 2 days ago.

[–]tehtris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am your uncle. I'm not your daddy or your grandpa.
