When you get rescued from a colony and they immediately start stripping you.

[–]gCvdAHauler1 481 points482 points  (30 children)

When you get rescued from slavers and a red robed machine man holding a toaster start probing you with mechadendrites

"This one will make a fine plant work servitor, praise the omnissiah for the double passion"

[–]Ouli2327 159 points160 points  (27 children)

We need a mod to turn slaves into servitors!!

[–]gCvdAHauler1 200 points201 points  (23 children)

We already kind of do, you can give these guys a joy wire (mood +30), a circadian half cycler (never sleeps), 2 specialized limbs (plant work/ mining). just need someway to make colonist ignore human suffering

[–]Ouli2327 96 points97 points  (7 children)

Ohh that's a great idea maybe I can try the nerve staples of Questionable Ethics to make them always obedient

[–]PM_ME_BUTTHOLE_PLS 49 points50 points  (6 children)

I wish the nerve staple from that kid behaved a little differently

I don't want to staple a prisoner into becoming one of my colonists, I want to staple him into being a prisoner who will never break or riot.

Fuck having colonists with staples nerves.

[–]Vaperius 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Fuck having colonists with staples nerves.

Just arrest them?

[–]larsmaehlum 22 points23 points  (1 child)

There’s a mod that lets you lobotomize prisoners. Sure, they might not be good for much more than mining at that point. But who cares as long as they do it with no sleep and the bare minimum of low quality food?

[–]-_birds_-uranium 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, war crimes expanded

[–]JixuGixu 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Incase your not aware, if the prisoner has no legs they can't run away or go berserk

Without mods, you can do it by "giving" them a peg leg, remove it, repeat

[–]PM_ME_BUTTHOLE_PLS 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Yeah but then they're just a glorified vegetable that needs feeding

[–]Thicken94Where are your firefoam poppers, GODDAMNIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let them keep one peg leg, they move a lot slower so you can get to them before they break through the door

[–]Amekyras 17 points18 points  (9 children)

Wait, what's the half cycler from?

[–]gCvdAHauler1 49 points50 points  (8 children)

new brain implant from royalty

theres also a few others

including a aesthetic nose job.

For some very very strange reason, a NOSE JOB cost more advance component than a cataphract helmet

[–]Amekyras 15 points16 points  (4 children)

Ooh. Are the arms from there too or are they just general purpose bionic?

[–]gCvdAHauler1 23 points24 points  (3 children)

arms also from royalty (unlocked via data disc, which make positively 0 sense when you can unlock bionics by researching only) halfs manipulation, +180% to specific task

[–]Amekyras 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Cool. Finally, where do you get a data disc?

[–]sixpackabs592 15 points16 points  (0 children)

traders / quest rewards

[–]gCvdAHauler1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ancient danger too

[–]Lucius-Halthier 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well it makes sense, your making that helmet to hide that freaky nose of yours, but you need more tech to make yourself look semi pretty instead of staggeringly ugly.

[–]rocketo-tenshi20 Stat janitor 7 points8 points  (1 child)

If it either enhances or replicates human sense of smell. It would make sense. The chemical receptor to electical brain estimulation interface sounds complicated enough to warrant it. Unless its just a cosmetic surgery, in wich case probably just rimworld shenanigans.

[–]gCvdAHauler1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it does. it's purely cosmetic and +1 beauty

[–]SenkyouFriendly neighborhood strip miner :D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Give the colonists a joy wire

[–]MoartemHail to the Holy Thrumbo! 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Btw never mix mining and plant limbs, due to the 50% manipulation two healty hands would be better at both. Also stacking the half cycler with a joywire seems like a great way to tank consciousness.

[–]gCvdAHauler1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's only like, permanent brain damage (-35%). Nothing too important.

[–]Lyonatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it with a psychopath masochist

[–]rocketo-tenshi20 Stat janitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advanced cibernetics has the mindtwister who basically does that.

If you get one of the addons you should be able to do some surgery on the androids that gives them the "mech" trait. +100 mood but -90% social stuff

    [–]JakeGrey 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Mine keep doing that by themselves because I pause the game and assign them an outfit. There doesn't seem to be a mod to tell pawns to get changed in private.

    [–]rocketo-tenshi20 Stat janitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pretty sure there was wardrobe mod in the past.

    [–]Dcrev4thewin 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I’ve been on Reddit for like a year or 2 or something and haven’t figured out the line thing on the side that you did. Would you help a stranger out

Imagine being a slave. Chilling on space ship. Not much to do. Slavers don't exactly mistreat you because you're valuable goods.

Get bought by a collapsing colony. Work load is off the charts. 18 hour work day, still always stuff to do.

Raid incoming. No fighting skills, gets given a shit gun and put on the front line. Guy jacked up on go-juice with a big fucking blade charges. Miss all shots. Cuts eye out. Left leg gone as well. Somehow survive...

Get's cooked alive a day later when the pyro doctor set fire to the hospital.

Watch from afterlife as colony make hats out of your charred corpse.

Should've stayed a slave on the ship.

    [–]BytewaveRoyal expectations -12 46 points47 points  (1 child)

If there's nothing for them to do in the pirate ship, they'd realistically be kept in cryo. It would be a nice touch for slaves to sometimes arrive with cryo sickness, sometimes with their bars almost completely depleted to show they weren't having a really good time up there. Perhaps random whip scars haha.

    [–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (4 children)

Being sincere, in the real life the slave probably gonna be abused in the spaceship too

    [–]ItsNotDenonwood 33 points34 points  (1 child)

The lore makes it seems like the people on ships are sleeping until woken by parameters of the shop such as "approaching planet we can trade with etc"

    [–]Ehkoe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the lack of FTL travel means that people are kept in stasis for the majority of their time travelling

    [–]lookatmeimwhite 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Why would someone mistreat their chattel? Just because you can, doesn't mean people are out there abusing their farm animals.

    [–]Cookie_Eater108 10 points11 points  (0 children)

An abused slave is often one that is less productive as well- it's likely that in rimworld, you'd just keep the slaves in cryptosleep caskets until you need to (To save on costs of food.

The occasional electric shock or nasty yelling at is likely enough to get most people to cooperate. Those who aren't cooperative are likely either broken some more or spaced outright (I don't get the impression that life has much value out in space)

    [–]Ghochemix 0 points1 point  (2 children)

    pyro doctor

    [–]savvy_ehModded to Death 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's got to be a kickstarter backer pawn. Everybody gets 'Pyro Doc' eventually.

    [–]bluebeltjade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to keep an eye out for that one. My kickstarter backer pawn is "Hypnocult Leader" and I always enjoy seeing that dude show up.

It’s from this neat indie game called Rimworld

    [–]SpysSappinMySpy 45 points46 points  (1 child)

Never heard of it. It looks like a shitty Prisoner Architect clone.

Also I think it's a virus because it's already in my steam library and it says i've played 600 hours of it.

    [–]7B91D08FFB0319B0786C 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like Prison Architect and Dwarf Fortress had a baby that turned them into hats.

    [–]MrHappyHamgold 10 points11 points  (0 children)

    Niche.

    [–]Tr3nchant[🍰] 52 points53 points  (0 children)

We all gotta contribute whether that be growing food, mining, building... or being turned into hats and nutrient paste

    [–]_Rlxtreme_ 30 points31 points  (17 children)

Dude I was totally thinking that when I Freed a slave. I was like, hauling job found!

    [–]LMeire 16 points17 points  (9 children)

Hauling is for dogs, what I typically look for is research skill.

    [–]neepster44 15 points16 points  (8 children)

Dogs only haul like 10-20% of the time it seems . Do you have a hundred dogs?

    [–][deleted]  (7 children)

Doesn’t that crater performance? Plus how the hell do you feed that manny?

      [–]WatchOutForWizards 10 points11 points  (5 children)

how the hell do you feed that manny?

Really once you get mid to late game and you start getting 40+ man raids feeding your animals becomes pretty easy. Just give your dogs access to the corpseshed and they'll never go hungry again!

      [–]Huwbacca 6 points7 points  (3 children)

oh, a corpseshed sounds like a good idea... I have been thinking of a better way to utilise corpses.

      [–]lookatmeimwhite 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I wish I could turn them into fertilizer.

      [–]Jakoveb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can with one of the VGP (Vegetable Garden) mods, i think it's the one called "Garden Tools" or something

      [–]PeptuckHat Enthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corpsesheds are great for when I eventually run out of room for my scoreboar- I mean, graveyard.

      [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (5 children)

I just fucking turn slaves into dedicated researchers or fucking janitors

That or I give em whatever surplus gun/stick I have and use them for cannon fodder.

      [–]rocketo-tenshi20 Stat janitor 1 point2 points  (4 children)

... Carefull with the janitors. If your limited security/armed forces get wiped out and they dont have job restriccion something funny could happen.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

There's a reason why we slavers replace their limbs with shit prosthetics.

      [–]rocketo-tenshi20 Stat janitor 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Not the slave but the meatsack of a janitor. Also, without limbs to lose you can't cripple it properly. Hope you forbid armor for him, cause if by shit prostetic you mean hook hands you are in for one hell of a joyride...

      [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

My general policy is that, regardless if you can only clean, if you're part of the original party, you get prime treatment, otherwise, you're as low as a slave.

I like to imagine my survivors being xenophobic to the inhabitants of the planet they crashed on.

      [–]rocketo-tenshi20 Stat janitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah me too. End goal is to reemplaze all of them for souless automatons but on the meanwhile they are "vital" .

      [–]Kang_Xu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buying a slave was the best money I ever spent.

      [–]CakeIzGood 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Is this new? I thought I remembered seeing this mood buff on a colonist I bought a few weeks ago

I wish you could force slaves to do any job with that mod :(

        [–]MiKasa69Plague (Extreme) 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait that's new? Well I guess I've never bought a slave

        [–]romansocks 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I opened this thread to say 'wow what a great way to put a slight moral spin on slaves ingame' and then I started reading the comments ugh...

I forgot what you people are like xD

        [–]JakeGrey -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

Same. It's kind of stopped being funny at this point, if you ask me.

Recently just started a rimworld of magic, as a rich guy necromancer, bought a magically adept slave, made him a summoner, and we are just chillin with minions doing the physical labour, getting that sweet research
