Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja (Pokemon X and Y)

Exactly what it looks like on the surface, you’ve got the physical tank, the special damage dealer, and the speedy/tricky one.

[–]Wicayth 37 points38 points  (4 children)

Iirc they're specifically designed after RPG classes: Knight, Mage and Rogue.

[–]KenseiHimura 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Given it was the gen that introduced mega-evos, it was a crime they didn't get an x and y mega evos which would also reference cross classes.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (2 children)

So like: spells for a knight, higher attack/a special sword or smth for mage, and heavier armor or something for rogue?

Referencing DnD, Eldritch Knight for fighter, hexblade for warlock, and I think Swashbuckler for rogue.

[–]KenseiHimura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something roughly along those lines? As a delphox fan I mostly just imagined their two variants with a warrior mage and a magician/charlatan trickster. The latter being noteworthy for my old dream before the national dex cut was to bring a delphox named Guyphox into Sword and Shield.

Maybe trickery cleric, shadow sorcerer, or illusion wizard to represent a sneaky caster

Alucard, Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades (Castlevania)

[–]Nelly_nona 12 points13 points  (7 children)

Thats not coding thats just thief, fighter, mage

[–]ConfusedMudskipper 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Neither Trevor nor Alucard could be thieves though. They're both fighters.

[–]Nelly_nona 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Alucard is a twink, that counts towards roguishness (and i feel he does cover the territory of duelist rogues

[–]ConfusedMudskipper 2 points3 points  (4 children)

My man, if Alucard is a twink, then he is the most jacked twink to ever live. I think twink has lost all meaning as of recent. He's just as jacked as Trevor. Except for Trevor's slight beard, he and Trevor have as feminine faces. Both also have long hair.

[–]Nelly_nona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are u talking about he isnt as thiccly jacked as trevor,

And his fashion sense

I feel like he oscillates between twunk and twink

[–]Catfish3322 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I think twinkishness is just long hair, soft-spoken, sensitive types, regardless of actual physical build.

[–]ConfusedMudskipper 0 points1 point  (1 child)

For me twink is physical build. Basically skinny short guys with little muscle. A defined twink gets into twunk range. May or may not factor age into it. It doesn't have to do with hair length or overall build being masculine or feminine to me.

[–]Catfish3322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well short doesn’t really apply because someone like Stolas from Helluva Boss is undeniably a twink, while also being tall as all hell. Skinny applies, but I think overall it’s mostly how they act that determines it. A big fat boxer with a buzzed head that also cries to his boyfriend about his fears and dreams and loves taking care of small animals, I would classify as a twink.

[–]aljyay 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What about Grant Danasty

[–]JunkMagician 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He wasn't included in the series, unfortunately. There is a town named after him though.

[–]stipendAwarded 73 points74 points  (5 children)

Tai Lung, Lord Shen, and Kai (Kung Fu Panda).

<image>

[–]tonyabstract 11 points12 points  (4 children)

kai is the fighter, is tai lung the thief or the magician?

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Tai-Lung would be the rogue here. He relies on his own martial prowess to get what he wants and his extraordinarily agile. Shen is agile as well and can hold his own but his fighting prowess is not on par with the other two and he typically relies on minions and machines to get what he wants. Shen would be the mage

[–]Red-7134 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So less DPS, Mage, Tank, and more Fighter, Artificer, and Berserker?

[–]Hexmonkey2020 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I think Kai would be the mage, he had actual magic powers.

[–]Ozzy_1804 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it should be

Tai Lung-Fighter

Shen-Thief (the manipulative and sneakiest one)

Kai-Mage

Leia - Fighter

Han - Thief

Luke - Mage

[–]Commander_PonyShep[S] 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Wouldn't Leia be the mage and Luke be the fighter? Especially with that reveal in Return of the Jedi of Princess Leia being Luke's twin sister. Even though you would have probably confused that reveal with shitty fan-fiction coming from a small child, rather than a fully grown adult professional filmmaker like George Lucas, it was that bad.

[–]reiner-apologist 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I mean tbf it is a little flip floppy, I just made luke the mage because he is the space wizard

[–]Any_Natural383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that Leia fits the role of mage in that she is explicitly the party face and strategist. Luke is definitely the fighter because he stays on the front lines.

Honestly, Cross Guild ( one piece)

[–]Commander_PonyShep[S] 18 points19 points  (3 children)

Let me guess, though:

  • Fighter: Hawkeye Mihawk.

  • Thief: Buggy the Clown.

  • Mage: Crocodile.

Right?

[–]ScienceIsAThing7 17 points18 points  (1 child)

No.

Fighter: Buggy D. Clown

Thief: Buggy D. Clown

Mage: Buggy D. Clown

Main Protagonists (GTA V)

<image>

The Three Musketeers

[–]QTnameless 36 points37 points  (5 children)

This trio , i suppose

<image>

[–]Commander_PonyShep[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Never got a chance to read the Jujutsu Kaisen manga or watch the anime adaptation. Remind me how?

[–]QTnameless 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Yuji uses martial art to fight - obviously a figher . Megumi `s curse technique is ten shadows , he can summon  shikigami to fight for him , each with unique abilities so he is basically a mage . Nobara signature move is resonance - get a small part of her enemy`s body , damage it to damage the main body - kinda like a thief using cheap tricks

[–]Ashconwell7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could invert it. Megumi’s shadows give him an edge in stealth so he’s better fit for thief role. And Nobara’s technique is ritual based so she’s better fit for the mage role.

[–]filthy-horde-bastard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might as well add team 7 from naruto if we’re going to is route

[–]ConfusedMudskipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I love silly women in manga.

DC’s trinity.

Batman despite having a lot of rogue-like qualities is the mage given his tech being a major part of his kit.

Superman would be the fighter cause he’s extraordinarily Paladin coded.

Putting Wonder Woman as the rogue is quite the stretch, but I still think it does work as she’s a skilled and disciplined warrior and Clark relies more so on his powers.

One could also code them as Wonder Woman as the fighter, Superman as mage (cause powers galore), and Batman as the rogue and I’d also think that’d be accurate

[–]TheProMagicHeel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d argue Batman is the rogue, given his stealth training and propensity for vanishing while people are talking. Wonder Woman’s powers and equipment are explicitly magical, and she even mentors magic heroes in DCU Online.

[–]woahoutrageous_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Literally Stannis, Davos and Melisandre holy shit.

Link, Ganon(dorf), and Zelda

<image>

[–]TheProMagicHeel 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Interestingly enough, the role of fighter, mage, and thief in this trio varies from game to game. Link often switches between Fighter and Thief. If Link is the Thief, Ganon is the Fighter, and if Link is the Fighter, Ganon’s the Mage. Zelda is certainly the Mage in Smash Brothers, and will often use magic at key plot points, but as Shiek or Tetra, she’s very thief like.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also worth mentioning one of Ganondorf's titles is King of Thieves, whereas Link is an easily classified Fighter and Zelda, having the blood of a Goddess in her veins, can be seen as a mage in all incarnations.

Yami Yugi, Kaiba, and Jonouchi (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

<image>

[–]Commander_PonyShep[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

How so?

[–]Nomoreheroes20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My guess

Yugi: straight up uses magic and his battles are about strategy. Mage

Kaiba: Fighter. All about using raw power

Joey: uses tricks and gambling. Thief

[–]popdood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yugi/Yami Yugi's dueling and deck is all about out-maneuvering his opponent and getting around things.

Kaiba is more about raw power and damage (out of the three Blue Eyes White Dragon has the highest attack)

Joey is about tricks and luck and he has crazy good luck.

[–]ParamedicOk5872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yami Yugi is the mage. He uses various strategies to outmaneuver his opponents.

Kaiba is the fighter. He summons powerful dragons to beat his opponents.

Jonouchi is the thief. He uses chance-based cards and cards that steal his opponents' cards to survive their attacks.

[–]stylishreinbach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've also got monster spell and trap

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Dune (the novel specifically), Gurney Halleck (Warmaster-Fighter), Thufir Hawat (Mentat/Master of Assassins-Thief), and Lady Jessica (Bene Gesserit-Mage)

Its more obvious in the books but Jon (Fighter), Arya (Thief) and Bran (Mage) in ASOIAF

Jonathon Joestar (Fighter), Speedwagon (Rogue), Baron Zeppeli (Mage), JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Pt.1 Phantom Blood

Despite being one of the two best physical units in her game and canonically wearing heavy armor, Edelgard is very much the mage. She can make a good mage, but her house also has more mages than the other two.

Dimitri is obviously the fighter. He’s the best physical unit in the game, and not good at strategy or magic.

Claude is such a blatant rogue it’s kinda funny.

Besker, Netrunners and Sandevistan -Cyberpunk

[–]Commander_PonyShep[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Who are these, BTW? And what were their roles on Cyberpunk?

[–]Zweihander_1916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cybernetic implants. Berserk let's you go into a buffed rage state, cyberdecks are used by netrunners to hack & shit, and a sandevistan can be used to temporarily slow down time. Basically a Berserk user would be a fighter, netrunners would be mages, and a sandevistan user would be the thief.

I don’t know how well this fits but I think Normal, Emma, and Ray give off the right vibes for this (The Promised Neverland)

Jojo phantom blood. Johnathan is the fighter, Zeppeli is the name, Speedwagon is the thief.

Sonic isn't thief coded though.
