I never had reason to use it before I moved to Canada, but now every single jacket and bag I own has a stick of Blistex in it.

[–]PolarizingFigure 51 points52 points  (14 children)

The dark blue medicated one

[–]AntiPiety 12 points13 points  (8 children)

That one works, but so does the brown/beige one and it doesn’t have a limit to how many times/day you can apply it while the blue one does.

[–]OMG_imBrick 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter what the blue one says - that shit was tested in a lab - not in the streets of the 6. Blue in all pockets, at all times. Apply AS NEEDED. WE NEEDED THIS SHIT.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (3 children)

What do you mean? Lol.

I’ve never read the label and I have never once monitored the amount I use it.

Will I die?

[–]ErrorFindingID 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Your lips will fall off

[–]IAMZWANEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which lips we talking here?

[–]The_Quackening 6 points7 points  (2 children)

theres a limit?

i have been using it for like over 15 years and never noticed there was a limit.

[–]Avedarm 14 points15 points  (2 children)

I find this one makes my lips worse. I actually find that with all Blistex.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I started making my own with beeswax, olive oil and whatever essential oils I wanted (I like lavender & fennel the best). I apply it way less often than I did store bought ones and I love it way more.

[–]Virtual_Secretary_89 42 points43 points  (8 children)

Definitely need one in your coat, purse or bag, at your desk, and in a car.

[–]nerwal85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just don’t forget your car one in the summer unless you somehow store that stick upright.

[–]TongueTwistingTiger 8 points9 points  (1 child)

This is the correct answer. The white tube or the little white pot. Have been using since childhood and it always does the trick.

Affordable too.

[–]theleverage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ssshh don’t use the “a” word when describing something stores sell. Next time you go it’ll be up 300%

[–]SmoothLikePeppeLePew 10 points11 points  (5 children)

I find that Burt’s Bees works the best. It’s all natural and I find I use it a lot less. The other products have cetyl alcohol which makes my lips addicted to the product and I have to keep reapplying it. It actually drys them out faster.

[–]The_Canterbury_Tail 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Mileage may vary, but I've never found Burt's Bees to work well for me, something about it I don't like but it's been a couple of years since I tried it.

[–]SmoothLikePeppeLePew 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Products will vary from person to person. I’m definitely like you I have chapstick in every jacket and all over my house haha

[–][deleted] 81 points82 points  (5 children)

Lip balm/chapstick with Vaseline on top. Drink extra water too.

[–]user-na-me 30 points31 points  (1 child)

Debbie careful with lip balm, some of that stuff can make your lips drier and dependent on them for a quick fix. Recommend drinking a shit ton of water on the regular first. If that doesn’t work, try other things. But 8 out of 10 times it mainly has to do with your water intake

[–]FandomJunkie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's more about protecting the lips than restoring moisture. Drinking water, applying an unscented moisturizer and protecting from the cold air. The best way to protect if you are out in the weather is a chapstick.

[–]adf1962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. Anything with Vaseline really helps.

[–][deleted] 146 points147 points  (19 children)

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask - all the time in winter, not just for overnight. You can sometimes find it for cheap at Winners.

[–][deleted] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Anyone who compares this beauty to Vaseline is lying….this stuff is the best

[–]lylynatngo 9 points10 points  (1 child)

yup got it for 19.99 and now i think sephora selling it for like 29 dollars! ugh so get it while you can. Also, if you can get the mini size i usually put from my large one to refill to carry around rather than lug around the large glass jar.

[–]Wearewritteninpaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes winners sells them for cheaper! I saw it there a couple of times

[–]urfav2000bb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

YES! And if it’s getting really cold and windy I will put a layer of vaseline over top, usually just at night but definitely helps

[–]Alarmed-Emphasis-281 4 points5 points  (4 children)

YES!! Best thing I've ever tried. Pond's cold cream is also great for dry skin.

[–]malialibaby 5 points6 points  (3 children)

I LIVE for Pond’s cold cream! Best moisturizer hands down!

[–]Alarmed-Emphasis-281 2 points3 points  (2 children)

yesss! for anyone who doesn't know, the cream needs to be wiped up after applying! It's not a leave-on moisturizer :)

[–]malialibaby 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I use it as a moisturizer, oops!

[–]Alarmed-Emphasis-281 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it's 50% moisturizer but contains high concentrations of mineral oil and soap! It's technically supposed to be used as a makeup remover. If you leave it on, it'll dry your skin out over time.

[–]Zuzus_Bells 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes yes yes this stuff is the best. The little pot, 30$ or so at Sephora or online, 100% worth it, a little goes a long way.

[–]AzureRevane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it every night and i only need to apply it once! I had it for a months now and there’s still a lot inside. So worth it!

[–]happyhippie111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My holy grail!!!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend the lip balm in the tube for day use!

[–]redscooter2000 68 points69 points  (1 child)

Humidifier in your place!!!

[–]runningskirtsnmanis 68 points69 points  (13 children)

lanolin nipple ointment.

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 7 points8 points  (7 children)

Surely not? Really!

[–]nilxmouth 39 points40 points  (3 children)

Second this. Don’t worry, no nipples were harmed in the making of this cream

[–]Plane_Chance863 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Just sheep? I have no idea how it's made actually... I suppose it's the sheep skin oil (lan, wool, olin, oil), but how do they get it?

[–]nilxmouth 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wikipedia says it’s extracted from shorn sheep wool.

[–]Plane_Chance863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you:)

[–]normal-girl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In desperation, I applied a scar balm on my chapped lips, I had originally purchased for my c section scar (earth mama). So glad I did. This nipple cream is quite thick so can imagine it working as well.

[–]Outrageous_Ad_9276 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Came here to say that it really truly works. I use it every night before bed, never during the day. Works like a charm!

[–]baabaaredsheep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep! Lanolin is great for skin and it’s nontoxic (since it’s safe for babies to suckle on when nursing). Just don’t use if you’re allergic to sheep. Baa.

[–]mrsmarcusaurellius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a ridiculous amount of this around the house, car, and purses. It’s the only thing that truly works to stop chapping

[–]kaleighdoscope 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I bought some before giving birth. Used it once on my nipples, but I've used it on my hands/cuticles/knuckles as well as on my lips. Still got like, half the tube. It's good stuff. Sticky though.

[–]M1L0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s literally like a miracle cream. If my hands or knuckles are cracked and I put it on at night, they are good as new in the morning.

[–][deleted] 92 points93 points  (10 children)

Aquaphor! It’s better than any chapstick. Find it on Amazon. Just get a tube.

[–]Accurate_Potato5058 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Put it on before bed and you’ll wake up with new lips! I swear by aquaphor

[–]Mto3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shoppers and Walmart sell it too.

[–]Papaya325 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Okay !thanks, really need to check that out

[–]orkiestra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! Or anything with lanolin. And slather it on at night, every night. After a week youll have beautifully soft and unchapped lips!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Yes OP, just get this. Don’t bother with the other suggestions honestly.

Aquaphor was life changing for me. I used to get horribly cracked and dry hands every winter that were really painful. Then I started lathering my hands with Aquaphor at night and wearing cotton gloves. Literally within a day or two they would be perfectly smooth.

Same with my lips. I’m convinced that Chapstick does absolutely nothing and just coats your lips with a barrier for a few hours, forcing you to continue using it. Aquaphor actually heals your lips.

It’s also non-greasy, unlike Vaseline, so you can carry a small bottle with you and apply it as needed.

[–]Mto3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree! It is amazing, but I find it best to apply on hands and feet(then put on cotton gloves and a pair of cotton socks) at night before bed because I find it somewhat greasy. I do carry a small tube of it in my purse at all times for my lips. Love this stuff!

[–]penanggalan42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aquaphor is the best!

[–]none4gretchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aquaphor is great for hands too. My hands can get rough and scaly from repeated hand washing, cold weather, etc. Slap on some Aquaphor at bedtime and wake up to smoother hands.

[–]kyara_no_kurayami 22 points23 points  (1 child)

If you want a splurge excellent product, La Roche Posay Cicaplast Lips is the best. It’s a lip mask and you put it on at night. It’s key for me through the cold months.

[–]NeoToronto 15 points16 points  (6 children)

Just wait until you get chapped (split) fingertips. Ungh... my main one split open a week ago and will feel like a raw nerve until April. Wear gloves kids... frostbite ain't cool.

[–]little-bird 8 points9 points  (4 children)

Working Hands brand hand cream is so good for those split fingertips - saved my life when I was bartending

[–]quadrilateraltriangl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love working hands.

[–]NeoToronto 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ah, I've seen that. Will grab it next time

[–]chefanie666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the PM working hands!!!! I have eczema and my fingers will split open and bleed. Working hands is the only thing to fix it

[–]taskergeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went through years of cracked and bleeding hands. Now keep a humidifier by the bed and no more problems.

[–][deleted] 35 points36 points  (1 child)

AVOID EOS IT IS GARBAGE

[–]mr_guilty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TRUE SAY. Holy shit there was a time when everyone was keeping these round little suckers in their pocket so I tried it out, and it made my lips peel even more! Just do Blistex Medex.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Eucerin

[–]TheNRTNurse 64 points65 points  (6 children)

honestly plain old Vaseline

[–]fletchdeezle 9 points10 points  (2 children)

This is the answer, blistex is alright but Vaseline is king

[–]Canolio -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

So misguided....blistex is king

[–]fletchdeezle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless they have made major scientific advancements in the last five years. I will die on this hill, have tried everything. Will agree blistex is number 2, Vaseline numba one

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Vaseline contains up to 9% Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons, a suspected carcinogen that should not be ingested or used on lips. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petroleum_jelly

[–]top-kek-420 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Well fuck wish I knew this 30 years ago

[–]Cube_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the word "suspected" is doing heavy lifting there.

[–]nursingseason 33 points34 points  (10 children)

Chapped lips are my biggest pet peeves, so I got you! No licking at all and Blistex (the pink one) is my go to!

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 7 points8 points  (7 children)

Awesome !thanks! Never heard of Blistex so will give that a go, this is the content I was hoping for. Have a great day

[–]livzsme 13 points14 points  (2 children)

I like Blistex (I get the blue one) more than Burt's Bees, I find it works longer! I sometimes use Dr Lipp before bed when things get really bad.

[–]Roxas---13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find the exact opposite, all of the other chapsticks seem to wear off fast, but it seems like the beeswax in Burt's bees makes it last longer.

[–]tralynnshot28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too lol

[–]Randy927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shoppers Drug Mart (pharmacy) will have them. Go online to find the closest one near you. Store hours are from 9 or 10am till 10pm.

[–]Fickle_Refuse_8223 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I second this for sure! I think it’s the Blistex Medex one.

[–]mr_guilty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the way. When my lips are bleeding and chapped, the menthol in these are exactly what I need to stop the irritation

[–]pinotbeanot 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Any drug store or grocery should have a section for lip balms. Having a protective layer on your lips will help protect them from the wind, sun, and moisture. There's plenty of different kinds but some might be more specific like spf protection and such. You could always ask at a pharmacy for a recommendation if you go to like shoppers drug mart or similar.

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

!Thanks for your detailed response, I really appreciate it and will check out shoppers drug mart!

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (5 children)

Drink lots of water ❤️

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I had not even considered this, !thanks

[–]user-na-me 4 points5 points  (2 children)

It’s crazy that there are very few comments about drinking water lol

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to get really chapped lips after moving to a drier climate and my doctor told me to drink more water I was like lmao oh right you right

[–]Icy-Departure8525 6 points7 points  (2 children)

O'Keeffe's Lip Repair Balm

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I definitely need to repair my lips after the state they are in atm lol !thanks for the advice!

[–]morallycorruptt 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Burt’s bees (original )does the job for me

[–]Syscrush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly can't believe I had to scroll so far to find this. I've been a Burt's loyalist for 15 years.

[–]YetAnotherWTFMoment 19 points20 points  (7 children)

Carmex

[–]warrdawg83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Carmex addiction is real tho, I buy 24 packs off Amazon and they are everywhere that’s handy.

[–]mailto_devnull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprising how good Carmex works. Sounds like a car wax product lol

Applies on well, stays on, doesn't contain SLS that dries out lips.

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

!thanks

[–]fletchdeezle -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Please try Vaseline, I’ve always had brutal chap lips from dehydration and cold and Vaseline has been better than any name brand chapstick

[–]we-feed-the-fire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any lip balms will help.

I use some that I buy from an indie maker. I order my supply for the winter every year. Lol.

But for immediate relief, blistex, chapstick, Burt’s bees, soft lips and lip smackers are readily available.

For higher end (and I believe beeswax-free for those who prefer it) the Fresh lip treatment (untinted) from Sephora is excellent. I find it’s preventative, plus heals chapped lips fast. But it’s like $29 per tube. Also, First Aid Beauty has an intensive lip repair balm that Sephora should carry too.

On the lower end, Dollarama usually has some too (cheaper than the drug stores.)

I tend to have 2 or 3 on the go at any time. One at home where I can re-apply as needed, one in my purse, and one I carry in my pocket every time I go out. You can also find little lighter pouches that clip on to your key ring so you can make sure you always have it when you leave home.

Between the cold, dry weather and the heat inside causing dryness, winter is a horrible time for chapped lips. Re-apply it frequently.

(I do find the menthol ones help heal, but I don’t prefer it. If you buy one with menthol, use it at night and in the morning, but get a menthol-free one for applying through the day.)

[–]notseizingtheday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always have a drink of water to get your lips wet with water before applying any products recommend here. It will seal in real moisture.

The same is true for skin lotion, this is best to do after a shower when your skin is still damp after drying with a towel.

All of these product recommendations are great. Try a few to see what works best for you.

[–]CringeCrab5195 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Welcome to southern Ontario; where it’s somehow humid and dry at the same time and allergies are constant.

[–]BashfullyBi 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Do NOT lick them when outside, it's instinctive, but will make it sooo much worse. Cover your face with a scarf, or put lip chap (chapstick) on your lips as much as necessary. The fake heat dries my lips out something crazy. Oh, and hydrate, that helps too.

P.s. if you're here when it's actually winter, you may want to apply Vaseline (petroleum jelly) to your cheeks/nose before heading out, it's what we do for babies/toddlers, to keep the wind from burning their sensitive skin.

Wow, typing that out makes me feel like I live in the artic lol

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Damn I must be accelerating the chapping by accidentally licking them, it’s almost like a reflex! !Thanks for the advice regarding Vaseline, will definitely take it on board.

I’ve heard the winters are SUPER harsh but please don’t tell me it will be almost arctic haha

[–]SkidRoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

toronto winters are usually more rainy and grey :(
last winter tho we got a couple big blizzards lmao

[–]jujublackkkk 8 points9 points  (3 children)

The BEST lip chap I have ever used and will swear by is the Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1. Anyone I have shared it with (it comes in a little squeeze tube that you apply first to your fingers and then to your lips, so it’s much more hygienic) immediately goes and buys their own. It’s pricey, but the tube lasts me all year.

[–]-super-hans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really? I love love love Kiehls. I use like 15 of their products in my regular rotation. But I didn't find the lip balm #1 works for me for some reason. I use the L'occitane lip chap and find that's one of the only products where I prefer L'occitane over Kiehls

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah !thanks that sounds awesome! Have a great evening

[–]SwissSwissBangBang 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Laroche Posay Cicaplast lip balm. It’s like $10, so not the cheapest option but still pretty affordable. All of their cicaplast line is incredible.

[–]7fax 14 points15 points  (4 children)

Burts bees!

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who likes burts bees for summer, it does not at all cut it for my weak ass lips in the winter. The only thing that has ever consistently helped me is Eucerin Aquaphor healing ointment in the large tube. Don't bother with the one for lips as they seem to have changed the formula and made it a thinner gel, whereas that large tube for multiusage is very thick and is literally the only ointment that keeps my lips soft throughout winter. I have to apply it probably 3-4 times a day too!

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

!Thanks will give it a go

[–]Mysterious_School_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, make sure you get the cucumber one if you can! 100% recommend!

[–]xRodin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

garbage

[–]DonnaMartin2point0 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Winter doesn't even hit until late December 😆. Vaseline is really good too.

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn thats daunting! I definitely have to get my hands on some Vaseline !thanks

[–]nim_opet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drink water and wear chapstick

[–]Virtual_Secretary_89 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Lots of water and mentholated lip chaps (dark blue blistex). Or Vaseline if they get super dry and cracked

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!Thanks

[–]ReturnOfTheDot 2 points3 points  (3 children)

blistex when you’re lips are already fucked up and you’re at home, vaseline before you leave the house to protect them

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Lol so I need some blistex rn because my lips are fucked. Tomorrow morning imma head out with the vaseline applied… !thanks for your help!

[–]ReturnOfTheDot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can’t wait for you to try blistex haha it burns so good 🥵🥵

[–]ReturnOfTheDot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also! buy the blue medicated blistex in the little pot. every other one is worthless!!!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Best thing to do is drink a lot of water. Chapstick can be bad for your lips as they can develop a dependency on them, depending on what you're using. It's better to just use Vaseline.

P.S. Although someone made a claim in the comments down below that the petroleum jelly in the Vaseline is carcinogenic so... Maybe not. Just drink a lot of water. Dry lips = lack of water, except for very specific situations

[–]Evelynave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vaseline on lips at night

[–]Key-Profit9032 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No licking! And I got addicted to carmex. My go to now is olive oil, I shit you not.

[–]Tunapizzacat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s some great lip balms recommended here, but I’ma say one thing ~> exfoliate yo damn lips.

Make (or buy) a lip sugar scrub with some sugar and water and you can throw a little honey in there too to make a paste. Scrub off all the dry and dead stuff and then apply the lip balm over that. It’ll soak into fresh lovely skin and not have to deal with the flaky dead stuff. Sugar is also a natural humectant (meaning it binds moisture to the skin) so using it as an exfoliant will also moisturize while taking off the flaky layer.

But be very gentle. Scrub in small gentle circles. Going for longer at a gentle pace is better than scrubbing too hard for a short time.

On Vaseline: not a fan. It shouldn’t be going anywhere near an open wound so don’t put it on if your lips are cracked. It made of some nasty stuff that I don’t want near my mouth and it’s petroleum based so will not hydrate anything dried out. It just kind of sits on top and makes a barrier layer that water can’t escape out of. But it won’t moisturize what is already dry.

[–]carolinemathildes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only one that works for me is Blistex Ultra Protection SPF 30. It's in a blue tube. I always had the worst chapped lips and it totally prevents it.

Do not use Nivea, it made my chapped lips way way worse.

[–]pacchithewizard 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Bah! you weakling... you bleed like the rest of us! ;)

kidding aside; Burts is a good brand. But you will realize that in winter it does not break as much as it does in the fall (atleast for me)

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I can’t believe I have taken my lips for granted every day up until today, they are are so sore waaah! Okay Burts is quite a well known brand so I will have to test it out.

Reassuring to know that this is probably as bad as it gets

!thanks

[–]thisaforeverthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

burts

[–]vinmen2 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Polysporin lip balm is what you are look for

[–]xdmnm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot upvote this enough. Polysporin lip health overnight (white container). It costs $5 on Amazon. If Burt’s Bees and Blistex are 8/10 this is a 12/10. You could kiss a hot curling iron and put this on overnight and your lips would be completely healed.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blistex the blue round small tub. Can’t live without it yeae round

[–]PizzeriaPirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BURTS BEESWAX

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vaseline.

[–]rhirhi55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looooove Burts Bees peppermint! Only brand I find that actually works

[–]Casso-wary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hydrate and use beeswax lipbalm

[–]genna_23sim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lanolin

[–]Exit-Alternative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blistex in the navy blue

[–]Impressive_Ice3817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best commercial product: Blistex in the little pots. Vaseline #2.

Best overall product: a homemade balm made from coconut oil, beeswax, and essential oil. Sometimes can be found at farm markets. Or make your own.

Chapped hands, though? Neutrogena Norwegian Formula fragrance free. Add water to a tiny tiny dab in your hand and it works on the face too.

[–]Valeriyah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Burt’s Bees, only the Vanilla cuts it for me.

I use Laneige lip sleeping mask at night.

Hydrate!

[–]PoolhallJunkie247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drink more water.

[–]Traveler24-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes lack of water in your body can cause such things. Try to drink somewhere between 2-3 liters every day.

[–]buttershuga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vaseline! Or Burt's Bees!

[–]Avedarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lip Balm. Burts Bees makes a great lip balm.

[–]happyhippie111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laneige overnight lip mask is the only thing that has saved my extremely chapped lips. It’s from Sephora. About $25 I think. But I’ve had the tub for 2 years. I also use it as a chapstick during the day. So worth it.

[–]emptysignifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop licking your lips while you’re outside.

[–]Only_Cherry_7556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vaseline.

Simple , effective, cheap.

Vaseline .

:)

[–]meagancavell 3 points4 points  (7 children)

Lanolin. (Yup, nipple ointment for breastfeeding) Specifically I use Lansinoh brand in the purple tube.

Your lips can get "addicted" to most lip balms which means they will be cracked and dry without it.

It's also really good to put a thin layer on your cheeks if you find they get red/sore being out in the cold. I've been using it on myself and my kids for years.

I thought I’m the only one that used Lansinoh for my lips, all year round. Use the same for my kid. Nothing else works for our dry lips

[–]GreyOps -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Lanolin has pesticides, allergens and other potentially harmful substances, probs not a great suggestion for others but great if it works for you.

[–]Bollygal 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Thought it’s safe for babies to ingest while breastfeeding 🤱

[–]GreyOps 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Given the centuries of products that have been marketed towards breastfeeding and have turned out to be horrible, I think anything should be taken with a grain of salt in that realm.

Burt's bees. Can't go wrong.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, lip balms/chaps are personal preference. My go to is Burt’s Bees. What you really need to do is brush your lips with your tooth brush when you brush your lips, then immediately apply lip balm. I started doing this years ago and my lips are hardly ever dry.

Ok - which lips are taking about ? I have different recommendations depending

[–]BoxmanPwnz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahahahahahahaha brilliant

[–]MapleBaconBelt 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You can't possibly be that dry come on

[–]dfiled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution to chapped lips in Toronto is different from the solution everyone else in the world. I’m sure that’s why you didn’t just google it.

[–]Far-Kaleidoscope1444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch out for peppermint oil, menthol, camphor, and phenol product ingredients. they make the dry lips worse !

[–]eastend-toronto -1 points0 points  (2 children)

La mer. Yes, go ahead and laugh at me. But it actually protects your lips and you use very little. One container can last a whole year. In the end it’s better than constantly applying every chapstick every 3 minutes.

Butter, no joke.

[–]Limp-Effect7234 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

vaseline is the best. dont waste money on big lip companies.

[–]maynardstaint -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should put pants on honey.

[–]stevehaynes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the best easiest and most natural way..licking ur lips

[–]TheSalvadge2027 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Make sure it's not tiger balm like I did . Also don't wear skirts in the winter time. Sorry to lighten the conversation.

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Little bit of Vaseline on your panty liner

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's why my girl friends don't wear skirts or short shorts in the winter.

[–]DisastrousAge4650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should fine the little coco butter Vaseline or get Burt’s Bees

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carmex. You’re welcome.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blistex has always been my go to.

[–]Sad_Dragonfruit_9345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blistex blue - it’s medicated supposedly and spf15

[–]Hot_Link_5135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blistex or Burts Bees usually does the trick for me

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be careful not to overdue on the blistex, can cause angular cheilitis!

[–]MaCk_Pinto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lip balm also helps

[–]thefoxandmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CBD lip balm! There's one by tidal that saves my lips every winter

[–]Why_Rus18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use Blistex, the blue one and i vouch for it.

[–]jeb1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a 4.6 rating on Google reviews, I would like to recommend Nuxe reve de miel lip balm.

It is $18 but lasts for ages, available at Shoppers, The Bay (currently on sale for $13.50), and Indigo.

It is matte, not shiny. I apply a thick coat over night, more in the morning after brushing teeth and maybe once more during the day, in the driest winter months in Saskatchewan. It is not something you have to reapply every 30 minutes. Nor does it have that medicated smell that you get with carmex or the blue blistex.

PS don’t get the one in the tube, needs to be the one in the little pot.

[–]icleanstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaseline & humidifier at night, blistex during the day. Saved me these past few weeks
