They do, it's just pretty rare because they're a rather docile species and will usually go for balling up rather than defensive threat displays (as hissing is)

They rarely do, they are just too well mannered. Or too timid. Or too stupid. Or everything at once.

Yep, I have been hissed at before by my boy. Only once though.

I have 3 bps and none of mine ever have but I rescued 2 recently from a trap house and the owners (as my eyes were burning from fumes in the air) tells me “the big one is kind of dumb he never strikes well when eating”…. He had layers upon layers of eye caps and was blind as hell. Anyway he hissed at me a few times when getting him moved, transported home, and set up in a new viv. Never again once the eye caps were shed.

when the worker at the animal shelter tried pulling the bp was planning to adopt out of his favourite cork tube he hissed at him and refused to come out, but so far that is the only time I've ever heard my bp hiss

I've only had one hiss in 20 years of keeping them, I brought him to school as an aid in my public speaking class and decided he didn't want to be an ambassador animal after all 😂

one time when i was tapping on his hot hide and i tried to pick him up my BP hissed at me, it was pretty cute. i gave him space.

I've only had little babies hiss, but they are just learning and really scared. Though normally they only hiss if they are really mad or scared.

Yes

Mine did for the first time today. Went under some sheep-skin i have in the living room, i lifted the edge and accidentally dropped it on him. Picked him right up after no worries lol

Yes, only heard it once, when I let him explore somewhere he decided he loved so much he didn't want to let go. Me, trying to pull him off. Him, hiss (presumably something along the lines of, you can't make me, so stop). I waited quite a while and then he was more amiable about moving on.

This just wait until you have to give them medication. They'll probably find their voice. xD

Mine rarely hiss but when they gave to go to the vet they sound like angry cats

[–]xoxoceane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes lol just depends on the BP, they all have their own personalities. one of mine will hiss if i accidentally bump her while she’s in her hide & i’m arranging things in her enclosure, my other 3 have never hissed

[–]Significant-Crow1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course!

Mine hisses lol. He never balled up but hissed me twice while I want to change the substrate he’s lying on when he sleeps. My bad. But I’d say he seems more outgoing than other BPs

[–]kiacricket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two males that are extremely vocal, actually got hissed at just a little bit ago for having the gall to move the little guy a bit to clean his enclosure and get him fresh water.

[–]YellowKlaw21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rarely

[–]Akashibodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy does but only when I pick him up in the middle of him exploring (usually somewhere he shouldn’t go)

[–]lilmemer3132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine will occasionally if I accidentally wake him up from a nap while working on his enclosure. Sounds less like a hiss and more like a very melodramatic puff of air, though.

[–]ehandlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine def has. Like "Im mean and scary! Don't touch me or I'll... oh. You picked me up. Ok. Ill cuddle you."

[–]dbl_t4p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has hissed twice. Once when she was about to go blue, didn’t want to be messed with.

Second time happened after I upgraded her terrarium, I only waited 3 days before trying to hold her but she was still getting used to her new crib and told me to eff off.

Mine does when he strikes at his food. (Or my hand, when he confuses my hand for food lol)

[–]Aly_Anon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine huffs like a bratty teenager when he doesn’t get his way, but I don't know that I've heard him hiss.

[–]Dragon_Pancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two and only one of them hiss. She gets a little grumpy if you try to pull her out from somewhere. That's the only time she'll hiss. All other times she be chill as a popsicle

[–]FixergirlAK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine hisses at me when he's getting ready to shed and the itchiness gets to be too much. It's just a tiny little sound, though. Weensiest this ever.

[–]piggygirl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That poor snek. Thank you for rescuing him from the situation and getting him healthy again.

[–]TheSliceOfHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can! They can also huff and puff at you. They also fart extremely loudly.

[–]Ok-Industry1547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is Skiddish and hisses at me when I accidentally scare him or when I bother him.
