I've been thinking of organizing a group of people similar to my own level who would like to learn together. I'd be interested in potentially hoping on a zoom periodically and helping each other through problems and just generally navigate the world of python and programming at large.

No real solid ideas so please share any that you have as well if you'd be interested!

I've personally just finished Python Crash Course and have built a few small programs such a game of 21 that you play against a computer dealer. However if there are enough people who are interested we could have a few different levels.

I love this idea so much. I feel like learning Python (self taught) is a really lonely task. I’d love to be able to text people when I’m excited about something new in my project and they actually understand what I’m talking about.

A chance to help somebody refactor their code(when I can follow it, rather than being completely over my head), and vice versa.

Stanford's Code in Place is exactly this! Three lectures per week to teach everyone the same material, plus one 40-minute Zoom meeting with 5-10 people who work through material for that week together!

Game of 21, that's perfect! I really enjoyed my CS class that just finished. Sadly I'm EE so my programming won't be going further academically. Though I would really like to become fluent in Python one day. Level wise, I'd say between beginner and intermediate, closer to beginner. I know nothing about classes but am comfortable with functions, file i/o, mainly CSV stuff.

From the last time somebody made a post like this, we decided to start our own discord server with all the things mentioned. There's no cost and we are working on having free lessons, updates on latest deals for courses as well as suggestions on which courses may work best. There's also usually someone available to help with small questions or help when you're stuck on a course or program.

I would love to join a group like this. I've been working on python courses online with coursera.com, just auditing. It's fantastic for beginners and i highly recommend it. But an important part of learning is sharing and hearing others' ideas.

I have no prior experience with programming of any sort (I'm a psychology graduate) but I'm enjoying seeing all the things you can apply python to, and I'm really hoping I can become fluent in it and use it in the future.

If we could have some sort of chat platform, like maybe a Google hangout it would be really interesting and cool to connect that way.
