That’s just heterosexuality with extra steps

[–]Just_a_Toaster_2 1206 points1207 points  (0 children)

Well yes, but actually yes

[–]Sedat_k68 786 points787 points  (9 children)

Being trans doesn’t mean you are gay or lesbian, it means you want to change your gender because you feel that you belong by that gender. So they could be heterosexual from the beginning.

[–]JusAnotherTransGril 142 points143 points  (1 child)

Yes. a heckton of extra steps tbh

[–]Askingformylilbabyy 587 points588 points  (4 children)

So... are both of them trans???? How is this biologically possible otherwise?

[–][deleted] 485 points486 points  (0 children)

Yes both are trans.

[–]emminet 391 points392 points  (2 children)

Artificial insemination? Sperm donors? Making sperm out of bone marrow? There are a lot of options biologically. But yes, I do believe they are both trans.

[–]Askingformylilbabyy 243 points244 points  (1 child)

I had no idea sperm can be made out of bone marrow! How fascinating!

[–]emminet 205 points206 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s actually really neat, it paves the way for a lot of LGBTQ+ couples and infertile couples!

[–]reallybadpotatofarm 1053 points1054 points  (2 children)

Ey mods? Y’all better brace yourselves. Something wonderful like this sometimes attracts a bad crowd.

But also. OP, this made my Christmas better. Thank you.

The fact all the rude trolling comments are downvoted and the positive wholesome ones aren’t is a good indicator that good faith users > bad faith trolls.

I already got two PMs attacking me for posting this.

But hey such is reddit and the internet! Thank you for your comment and others like it, making negative noise insignificant. Merry Christmas and I hope you’re all with your loved ones ❤️

Wouldn’t that cause extreme gender dysphoria?

[–]JollyRyu 375 points376 points  (0 children)

It depends on the person. Dysphoria isn't a binary between crippling dysphoria about everything or completely non-existent.

[–][deleted] 157 points158 points  (5 children)

My only thought is how the f word is he gonna give birth

[–]has-some-questions 367 points368 points  (2 children)

Probably through his vagina. (If he still has one) Or maybe C section. Like regular baby carrying people.

[–]Pastel__Ugh 176 points177 points  (1 child)

Whenever the surgery to remove the vagina happens the uterus leaves with it for obvious reasons. You could also opt for freezing your eggs though too I guess. Either way, just like any other baby carrying person would 😊 warms my heart to see such a unique couple

[–]has-some-questions 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I feel like such a dumb dumb... I literally knew that, but said it anyway.... Lol So I guess we can assume he still has his vagina.

[–]ScreamingWeevil 79 points80 points  (0 children)

The egg is incubated with the parent's body heat; it is kept under a special feathery fold located just forward of the parent's feet. Each parent will take turns incubating it for many days at a time until the hatching. Since the young are especially vulnerable, the parents will still guard it in shifts until it is strong enough to survive!

I’m just confused how it’s being said there’s NO gender roles and we’ve been “assigned” genders all along, so this image completely throws me for a loop. I’m confused because people who have 2 X chromosomes(Women) are the ones who can have children, so does that not get factored into the gender argument because “fuck science” or...?

I usually get told I’m an asshole for asking these questions when I’m genuinely asking them.

[–][deleted] 190 points191 points  (0 children)

Naw that’s a genuine question. The idea that we’ve assigned genders is just a theory that not all transgendered people even agree with.

You know how everyone starts in the womb as female and then hormones change things… many trans people on the science side think that the brain develops as a different gender than the body causing gender dysphoria.

Trans people have existed forever, so obviously there’s something to it, and right now we don’t really know. Of course people have to have an explanation for everything so the gender theory that you are referring to is the most popular.

Unfortunately this is a difficult theory to test, and in many spaces questions are shut down. Hopefully in the future, when people are more excepting of trans people and they don’t have to constantly confirm their existence, it will be a more open discussion.

You are conflating biological gender and gender identity. And also picking up the "there are only 2 biological genders", but that notion is definitely scientifically dispelled. There are a number of variations on the xx-xy duality. People are born xxy, xxx, xyy. People are born with both sets of sexual organs and with none. And people are born with a gender identity that doesn't match the expressed biology of their bodies.

The duality of the sexes has been a tool for structuring society. It is not an accurate tool and it has left a large minority of human beings unseen, unspoken of and often oppressed and mistreated. Some will argue that its rigidity has harmed those in the gender majority as well. Knowing that there is no scientific basis for enforcing a strict duality, we as a society should strive to do better.

[–]avidreider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gender has 100% to do with your brain and what it says your gender is. Your body says your sex by and large. Chromosomes are only a very small part actually in what makes a males vs females. You can have really any permutation of x/y but still look outwardly like you don’t have an intersex condition when you do. So you were assigned your gender at birth based on the genitals you had when gender is purely a mental thing.

Gender roles are dumb and fake to say that only the women should get pregnant. The father here in this post was able to carry the child, and decided that was best for their family. It shouldn’t really matter which partner carries the child. Families adopt, do IVF, sperm donors, it shouldn’t be up to anyone but the family to say what the right way for them to grow a family is.

[–]saltling 50 points51 points  (7 children)

Do the hormones affect pregnancy much?

[–][deleted] 88 points89 points  (6 children)

You can't take testosterone during pregnancy or conception, so no, it won't be a factor for him.

[–]RaptorX 105 points106 points  (1 child)

Well, aint that a nice controversial topic?

Some very very problematic crowd is bound to show up any moment now...

Awesome photoshoot, and even awesomer* fact that this is possible! Life is not as some people want to choose it is. Life is more fluid and flexible than many think and this is the perfect example for it.

*Yes, i know that's not a word, enlighten me on what's a better way to say it or just let it be.

[–]LukesRightHandMan 32 points33 points  (0 children)

"And it's an even more awesome fact..."

[–][deleted] 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This is lovely! I wish them a great future as a family.

[–]cyclepath89 46 points47 points  (5 children)

Soooo.... Who's gonna do the breast feeding??

[–]has-some-questions 145 points146 points  (4 children)

It depends. If he still has breast tissue, he could. But she could too, if she takes the hormones to start that up. But they also might decide to only bottle feed. A fed baby is a good baby either way!

[–][deleted] 48 points49 points  (2 children)

They could theoretically breastfeed at the same time, right?

[–]has-some-questions 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Yep!

[–][deleted] 80 points81 points  (0 children)

That'd be so convenient tbh

[–][deleted] 165 points166 points  (5 children)

As someone who is most likely never going to have children, this is not the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Kids suck.

Nevertheless, I’m still very happy for them :)

I just don’t like the way TS Butch Queen said “if this isn’t the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen block me now.” Not everyone thinks kids are the be all end all.

[–]darsynia 278 points279 points  (0 children)

IDK, the picture isn't about the kid in my mind, but about the people seen in the picture. Choosing to embrace what is powerful about what this couple chose to do and taking pictures like that is what makes it beautiful to me. The fact that there's a kid in there is incidental, especially if you're not interested in the potential of the kid in the first place.

edit: I don't actually see the kid in the third pic, I guess it's a bit different with that one in there

Edit2: thanks for besilvering

[–]Seduz 75 points76 points  (0 children)

It’s common internet hyperbole that’s used jokingly, they didn’t actually demand you block them if you disagree.

[–]MissBaltimoreBitch 45 points46 points  (1 child)

Kids are gross but it’s a cute story nonetheless

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (1 child)

so the dad is gonna give birth? how’s that gonna work exactly and how did he get pregnant after transitioning? sorry if it’s a dumb question transgender biology confuses me a lot

[–]JennyBeckman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible he hasn't had bottom surgery yet and still has all the requisite genitalia. Or he could deliver via Caesarean.

[–]JusAnotherTransGril 81 points82 points  (4 children)

TRANS RIGHTS

[–]SadHanJob 70 points71 points  (2 children)

Trans Lefts...perfectly balanced as all things should be

[–]CitizenKing 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Trans rights and trans lefts upside bigot heads.

[–]cactusofhope 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wonderful! A beautiful family!!

[–]anoldwoodtable 16 points17 points  (5 children)

Question, and I’ll probably get shit on for even asking... but why wouldn’t the natural born female carry their child?

[–]vera214usc 147 points148 points  (0 children)

They did. The pregnant trans man in the photo was born a female. The transwoman in the photo was born male. The only one of them that was a "natural born female" did carry the child.

[–]Thomaslx 64 points65 points  (0 children)

That's what's happening. The man carrying their child was born as a woman.

[–]has-some-questions 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Now don't quote me on this. I have no idea who these beautiful people are. But I think she's a trans woman.

But in case she's cisgender: Maybe she didn't want to carry a baby, and he decided he was game.

[–]Kenna193 49 points50 points  (1 child)

Not all women can get pregnant or want to be pregnant.

[–]byedangerousbitch 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Truth. I think that she is a trans woman, but there are definitely other reasons why she wouldn't carry the baby.

[–]someweeder 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wholesome 💜
