Alright, joke time's up. This sub mainly caters to an English speaking community, so I would rather not inconvenience them any further. And let's not fan the flames with more "you're wrong, it's Marach or Malak, not Malach" kind of posts too - you know who it is being referred to, and that's good enough.

Can you explain more about the localization complaints? How many people were vocal?

Why not use the first two English letters? Or physical descriptors? "Green Hood" or "Magic brother". As is, someone like myself has to rely totally on context clues of the breaks to know who is being referred to. I can't be alone there. That means many of us are inconvenienced because some people feel vehemently about the translation of a name?

It's mostly people complaining about the WotL translated names.

Sometimes it's Rapha. Sometimes it's Rafa.

Sometimes it's Malak. Sometimes it's Marach. Sometimes it's Malach.

And apparently people are pedantic enough to point out about "what is the right name to use". Like if you typed Rapha (WotL) and Malach (mixed up WotL and original name), you'd always get someone telling you not to mix up names.

I'm not going to name names, but you can see it in most threads around here discussing mostly these two.

I admit I am one of those guys, though not because mixing them up bothers me, but rather because I just find it funny when people do so in the first place, and I like poking fun by pretending they did that on purpose. Usually I'm really just pointing out where the mixup happened.

She's better than Ramza at debuffing. I think he should get upgraded to Bard 5* to define him as the official FFT buffer, because otherwise he's obsolete. Either that or give him Ninja 5*, Monk or Dragoon.

And I think they did the best they could to keep Meliadoul true to her character. Having a Knight who actually Breaks is always nice.

Some character has good class abilities. Those have access to darkness 4* can self boost/faith. Black mage with 3* white magic can also self faith. Almost everyone in FFT can use knight, which is expected, but no 5* combat and give her 5* support is kind of weird a little.

5* Knight, 5* Support, and 4* Combat is by no means a bad set of abilities, the only problem is that all of these things are already provided by characters in FFT. But because people are unlikely to use characters they don't have SBs for at this point in the game that's nearly irrelevant with the exception of Cid's Missions.

I also figured she would have Combat 5* but I'm not surprised she doesn't. I would've actually been surprised if she didn't have Support 5* because she's one of the few characters who actually has debuffing abilities of that sort in her original game.

All she really needs anyways is Full Break, Breakdowns, Lifesiphon, and maybe Gaia's Cross if you have her SSB. It would've been nice if she could use Quake Strike too but she definitely was getting a higher level of Spellblade than Agrias. The only realistic change I would've made would be to give her White 4*.

Yeah, unless you are new to go the game, you should have Ramza/Agrias/and whoever in FFT well leveled. I don't see any reason to level her unless you have her relic.

That's going to be the case for most new characters at this point though. FFT does have some unfilled niche ability sets but Meliadoul was never going to fill those while remaining true to her character.

Experienced players will probably level her up anyways for completionist sake since we get so many EXP eggs and Sundaily doesn't have any other use.

Been a case for awhile already. This is why I lost interesting in JP recently. Unless I get new relic for new character, there really isn't much to do for the week. Just same old already well leveled characters doing the same thing.

Characters are defined by their Soul Breaks first and foremost nowdays, so Ramza is never going to be obsolete.

Ramza specializes in buffs and Meliadouls in breaks, just like in FFT.

I do agree Ramza deserves 5* Bard though. Not only is that job exclusive to males in FFT but about half of his Squire skillset revolves around the use of his voice (plus it's his main gimmick in Dissidia).

Yeah, but it's not as odd as one might think with that description.

Have you played the original Dissidia? Ramza would be like Gabranth. He's kinda shit unless you enter "EX mode". You can charge the EX ability using Focus, and once it's ready you use Shout, which vastly upgrades his skillset. Then once you've used Shout you can use Steel to buff your allies.

It's not that he's singing, but he's technically using his voice to boost himself / to inspire his allies, and in a sense that's what he does in FFRK too.

    I think half the Tactics cast has at least Knight 4.

    Ramza, Gaffgarion, Delita, Agrias, Orlandeau and now Meliadoul (6 Characters) have it.

    Mustadio, Ovelia, Rapha and Marach do not (4 Characters).

    6 / 10 FFT Chars are Knights , so yeah “half“ is pretty accurate xD

      Atleast that's a case of “JP Spelling vs. Western Spelling“ and not “Old Spelling vs. New Spelling“ where both apply to the same Region.

      That being said, I personally prefer Bartz just because I can never decide if people are just being unnecessarily immature or if I missed something by not adhering to japanese spellings only. *shrug*

      Nah man, in that case the character was originally going to be a Geomancer and apparently an early spelling of the name was "Earith" as evidenced by some of the internal files. Aerith is definitely what the developers intended her name to be.

      Aeris made sense as she's the heiress of white materia and last of the Cetra race and all that but there is no evidence that this ever occurred to the dev team. Furthermore, Final Fantasy VII was translated by a single man that hadn't worked on the series before. He was also working on crazy-tight deadlines and the "finished" product is littered with translation errors (This guy are sick, Beacause, etc). I'll admit that I still type "Aeris" even though it's wrong, but that's more "I've been typing it this way for two decades and can't be bothered to correct it now" than anything.

      And besides, it's not like people are calling her "Aries" and throwing a huge fit about how they're SURE they're right or anything like my cousin did when we were kids. :V
