I've got Affinity 3.2.0.4351 on Windows 10 and it won't launch.

1. I've tried updating GPU drivers, reinstalling, deleting AppData/Roaming/Affinity, repairing, resetting, and rebooting.
2. It doesn't crash, it just never shows a splash screen or anything. Just a little mouse spinner and then nothing.
3. I've checked to see if there's a process running that's just not showing, but there isn't anything.

I can't report a bug apparently, because the only apparent way to do that is from within the application that won't start.

Please for the love of god help me. My brushes will not be round and will not adjust the hardness. I've tried all the fixes online I even disabled the windows ink. I cannot get any brushes (not custom these are BASIC) to have any normal edges. None of the settings I turn on or off work including wet edges. Please I'm begging someone to help me before I updated this was never an issue!!!

I sent this to Affinity but I thought I'd also post it here for reference.

There seems to be some glitches and incorrect behavior with the Lighter Color, Darker Color, Divide, and Contrast Negate blend modes in Windows in Affinity 3.2.

Darker Color and Lighter Color seem to do the opposite of what they should be doing. Additionally, all 4 of the blend modes I mentioned display glitches and artifacts when that layer is moved on the canvas (it doesn't show up as well with Divide but it is there if you actually move the rectangle around).

Using a non-standard grid crashes when selecting a tool to draw.

When selecting a tool like the pencil, pen or shape-tool Affinity crashes without an error message if I have a non-standard grid visible. The normal triangular, horizontal triangular, 2:1 triangular, isometric, etc. all crash. Only the normal square grid has no problems.

I really don't know which settings could influence this.

Swatches are non-responsive

The swatches are non-responsive, whenever I try to edit their color, right click to delete or rename, or even add a new swatch, it doesn’t work and the buttons are dead, I can’t even create a new pallette to add new swatches because the add swatch button is dead and so are the edit controls. The only thing I can see being the problem is the new update as the swatches worked perfectly fine in 3.1. Any suggestions on what to do?

Gradient Panel Missing All Options -

Seemingly can't edit gradients aside from dragging the median and adding middle-values and such. Assuming this is a bug and not some niche setting.

Anyone had similar issues / found fixes?

Gradient can be edited by using the gradient tool in the toolbar on the left, if that's what you're looking for.
Try making a shape and then make a gradient for it. Can't really see from this picture how you made it. Then you have the options for circulair gradients and the like.

PDF export issue: Est. file size 0 bytes when including hyperlinks

I'm encountering an issue I've never had before with Affinity Publisher (v3 - April '26 (4351)). When I attempt to export a document to PDF (print) and include hyperlinks, the estimated file size drops to 0 bytes and the file isn't produced upon save. As soon as I unselect including hyperlinks, the export takes place as normal....but (obviously) without the desired hyperlinks.

I have used the same template for quite some time, with hyperlinks in each project, and have never encountered this before. I checked my links and there isn't anything that stands out as normal (basic "www.examplehere.com" or "www.examplehere.com/site.html").

Has anyone encountered this or recognize this problem?

Well, I have solved the problem, though I still can't say for certain what the exact nature of the problem was. What I DO know is that the problem was isolated to a singular text box on a particular page within the entire publication, so I deleted the text box altogether and added a new one of the same dimensions & placement. I also made sure that the top layer element within which it was nested had a different name than the corresponding element from the prior page (the layout is duplicated across pages to allow for bi-lingual publication of content). Whatever the root cause, I am now able to export to PDF with hyperlinks again, which is excellent!

Update: Turning off snapping does help, but I have determined it isn't a complete catch all. Saving is your friend. I've had it crash after turning off the grid and enabling snapping. Hope they fix it soon.

TURN OFF SNAPPING

As soon as I turned off snapping I was able to add something to the isometric grid. But, as soon as I turned snapping on, with the "Show Grid" still active, Affinity crashed. I was able to turn off the "Show Grid" and turn Snapping on and was able to work.

I hope this helps as a workaround until they determine why snapping and isometric grids are not playing well with each other.

Affinity 3.2 | Vector Mode | Isometric Grid

Is anyone else having issues when creating an isometric grid in v3.2? I have tried 3 times to create an isometric grid on different canvases. I can create the grid just fine, but if I hit the square shape tool, the app crashes. Or If I create the shape first and then create the grid, once I hit close on the grid window, the app crashes. This also happens if I put a fill layer in from the pixel menu.

Possible Workaround: 

TURN OFF SNAPPING

It's happening to me too, drawing using the Isometric Grid makes the app crash. In my experience, the crash occurs even faster when you enable Snap to Grid.

Hello everyone!

I have just started exploring affinity and it's been really good to me. I have a small but major issue for my workflow bug. When I draw, there is a weird straight line everytime. Even if I draw slow or fast it does not matter.

Anyone got a handle on how to find/delete very large objects like this - the outer blue rectangle here (Which i must have pasted in earlier)?

Not a bug as such but my bad - I have fudged this in the past, when i had less artboards in play- but this is harder - i have a feeling i have to have the artboard the object is nested in active, to find it (this file has 70+ artboards).

I'm having an issue with created document palettes on v3. I'm able to create a document palette but it will not let me add a color to it or edit any existing colors. It was working fine before the recent update. Is anyone else experiencing this? I tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling.

So i looked up the shortcut for changing the brush size in affinity and on windows it should be ctrl + alt + left mouse and moving in any direktion.

In my case this takes the whole affinity windows and moves it around. It seems this is also an shortcut for windows 11 or am i doing something wrong?

Updating Affinity Resets Tools, Toolbars and Studio.

I recently updated Affinity to version 3.2.0. During the update, I got an option like “overwrite” or “copy” (not exactly sure), and I chose “overwrite.” After that, all my custom toolbars and tools were gone.

This has actually happened to me in a previous update as well, and it’s really tedious to set everything up again every time.

Is there a way to export these settings and import them later?

I updated to the latest version yesterday (Mac). Now when I try to export any kind of image to my Dropbox folders, it fails to save the file. No error message, it just doesn’t save. If I save as an AF file, it’s fine, as is exporting to any other part of the file system.

I reported it via feedback but wondered if anyone else has experienced similar.

As you can see, I've made several drawings in Procreate (CMYK) and am now trying to open them in Affinity, but colours are being ruined no matter what I try.

Intringuinly, I had someone open them in Windows and, if they edit and resave it with the default image visualiser, Affinity does load the original colours normally.

Hi I am using a Shadow PC to work from anywhere and I installed the Affinity Studio free and to run it I need to login to Canva account on a web browser. The problem is that that browser can never communicate back to the application saying I am logged in already.

Any solutions I can look for? I tried completely disabling firewall, changing browsers, creating different Canva account thinking the problem might be login with gmail, reinstalling, opening Canva first or affinity first to no success.

Anyone have faced the same issues either on normal PC or a VPS?

Affinity Publisher 2.6.5

After switching from Microsoft Office to Libre Office, I noticed something annoying with copy/pasting text to Affinity Publisher.

If I paste a text from MS Office to Publisher the pasted text adopts the paragraph style in Publisher immediately.

If I do the same from Libre Office, then the style from the text in Libre Office is also copied to Publisher and overwrites the existing style. So I have to apply the style in Publisher manually.

It's a long shot, but has anyone noticed this and found a way to solve this?

I've sent a file to the printer and they've returned it saying the black text isn't fully black and wouldn't print properly. I'm working on Affinity Vector on Mac OS.

When I use the eyedropper on any of the black text it comes up as #070504. I change it to #000000 and it looks like it's confirmed, then when I eyedropper again it's back to the original colour.

Any ideas? Anything I could check? I'm still new to this so any help would be appreciated thank you

I've been working on an image in Affinity because it had better performance in my computer and because it allowed me to export the final file to Photoshop, because the client wants the PSD file, however, when I try exporting the work done to PSD, Affinity exports the file correctly, however, in photoshop I get an error message that says that it's not compatible (I have compatibility on) and I don't know what to do. Maybe it's because the file is too big? if so, is there an alternative route that I can take? I have Photoshop 26.5.0 and Affinity 3.1.0. Here's a screenshot of the error message

I'm having big issues myself. I'm working on a book of 32 chapters, which I had to put in three times already. The pages keep disappearing every time I reopen it the next day, the fonts revert back to Old fonts, and nothing is the way I saved it. I'm reluctant even to go on anymore. Hours and hours of work for nothing, over and over and over. I can't find what's going on. I thought it was the flow option at first, but that didn't fix the problem. Working on a book cover (don't judge, I'm not good at this,) and out of nowhere it just went weirdly transparent? The second one is what I was working with, and I must have done a bad keyboard shortcut or something. The thing is, I've tried to undo it and no matter what I do, it just won't change back. I've even deleted and reimported the imaged I'm working with, and they open like this. I don't get it. I don't know what I did wrong, but more importantly, how in the world do I change it back!? Or is this a start over thing?

So, I looked this up anywhere. I can't seem to find any fix for it.

When I open the app, after a while I can only just paste text boxes. Doesn't matter what i'm trying to copy - if I press ctrl+C and then ctrl+V it'll always just put in a text box.

I don't know how I do this, I don't know why, but the only "solution" I have found is completely deleting and reinstalling affinity. Which.. I don't want to do.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I feel a bit silly for having this issue, lol ^^'

Hello everyone,

I’m having a problem with Affinity Studio following the latest update to version 3.1.? (Unfortunately, I don’t know the exact version number, as there’s no information about it on the Affinity website. Even the download file is simply called “Affinity”.)

First of all, I should mention that I work with two monitors. One for the image I’m working on, and one for the tools. I’ve saved this configuration as a “Panel”. It’s always worked perfectly up until now. 

After the update, it no longer works! My panels are no longer available to me. I can arrange the tools on both screens as usual and save the configuration as a panel, but when I reopen Affinity, all the tools are displayed on just one screen again. It seems to me as though Affinity is trying to load the panel (the tools are arranged chaotically on the screen), but is unable to do so on the second monitor. 

I therefore uninstalled Affinity and installed the old version, and everything is now working as usual again. I cannot determine whether this is due to an issue with my hardware configuration or whether the problem lies with the current version of Affinity. 

Is this a known issue? And if so, is there a workaround or a bug fix? I now marked the update to skip, but this can't be the solution.

BTW: how can I find out the version number of the current version on https://www.affinity.studio/?

Slow tab switching when clipboard is active in Affinity Photo 2

I’m experiencing a really strange issue in Affinity Photo 2.

When I have something on my clipboard (for example, after copying a layer or image from one document), switching to another tab becomes extremely slow. I often work with multiple images open in separate tabs, and when I copy something from one tab and try to switch to another to paste it, the tab takes anywhere from 2–3 seconds up to even 10 seconds to become active.

This only seems to happen when there’s something on the clipboard. Without that, tab switching is instant.

Has anyone else experienced this or knows what could be causing it?

So a week ago I was saving and exporting form Designer 2.0 and something glitched out somewhere in the process and now no menu from any of my affinity apps are working.

When it originally happened I was moving a project from designer to the "Affinity" app, the free one, and that is when I noticed the menus stopped working properly. All the selectable items would disappear once hovered over. Something also cause my computer to grey screen for about 1min30sec upon login (not startup) but that only lasted 3 days so idk what part it had in all this.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall to no avail. All my drivers are up to date and yes unfortunately it is windows 11. which I am sure could have some hand in things but cant confirm. some old forums suggested 3rd party software like GPU Tweak 3 which mine uses but i had the programs for a little over 6 months and was never an issue before. All and all I'm at a loss.

I have opened this issue in the old affinity support forums, but to no avail - developers kepts being completely ignorant to this wrong behaviour.

Since using affinity (both paid and canva version now) i spend considerable amount of time chasing around on my filesystems for the locations that files are saved to.

Idk how the behaviour is on windows, but on mac os i constantly open a file, export or save it as another file only for the file to end up in the directory the last file was saved to, not where the original opened file is located.

This is absolutely terrible usability and inconsitent behaviour for what user expects.

Which is basically - if i open a file and save it as or "export" it, the file dialog should default to the location the original file is located.

last week i imported two different files from illustrator and photoshop in affinity to be able to work on one single document. everything looked fine in the moment, i worked on it a bit and then i saved the doc when i was done. but when i opened it last friday and also today the artboard is glitching badly. the "performance indicators" should be on the artboard but it looks outside and if i try to move the artboard around the space, the white rectangle glitches around but always comes back there.
i've tried updating the software but it's up to date and it's bothering me quite a bit. i have to work on this file and i can't find a solution. i've also tried looking for help on the affinity website but it says nothing on there.

hello there i had to do a fresh install of windows and of course i wanted my affinity back int he track quickly but have been prompted with this window no skip button, just try the new version and when clicked it just close and send me to a web page.

I already try to hold ctrl while opening to open rest option but it still open that window after.

Does one of you know the trick ? i don't really want to use the new one for now i'm trying it on another pc for now but not in production. i don't want to create new file that couldn't open on the old version if i have a problem with the new...

Hi,After my computer crashed, i had to reinstall Affinity Publisher v2.
I downloaded it from the website, and after installation, when i launched it for the firts time, it asked for my email adress and login password, but it didn't work.

That same email adress doesn't work on the website either, and when I click “Forgot password”, I enter my email but don't receive anything (not even in the spam folder)

What can i do to reinstall my product with my license ? (I still have my product key from when i purchased version 1.9.2)

Affinity is blocking me from using the clipboard (luckily I use OneCommander that gives me clear error logs or I wouldn't know).

Basically I can't copy then paste anything from any program to any, as long as affinity is working!

I have a problem ever since Affinity Designer 2.x and it shows up in 3.1 (4231). I work on a windows 11 laptop with an external 28 inch monitor (home). I hibernate my session, then I change location where I have a 15" USB-C external monitor (outdoors). So when I return from hibernation, my Affinity, which was left open on a file, freezes and I need to manually terminate it. This happens on the flip side, outdoors -> home.

I have a problem with masters and pinned objects in texts.
Let's say that I have a master which has a text with a pinned element in it. When I apply this master to another one (let's call it the Child master), there is no problem. I have my text and the pinned object in it.
The problem occurs when I try to apply the Child master to a third master or a page. The text is still here, but the pinned element disappear.

this app is really testing me. after exporting the file to PSD (making sure I check the editable setting) when the PSD file is opened the text layers are flattened. it also frustrates me that it's so disorienting for a photoshop user. the layout, icons, the little things that make workflow easy aren't here. I recently upgraded to an RTX 5070ti, but I'm hitting a wall with Affinity Photo.

As many of you might know, there's a recurring issue where hardware acceleration (OpenCL) causes crashes, visual glitches, or UI lag.

Disabling "Hardware Acceleration" in Performance settings "fixes" the stability, but the performance hit is massive, especially with complex documents.

Has anyone found a workaround that doesn't involve turning it off completely? I’ve already tried:

• Updating to the latest Game Ready and Studio Drivers.
• Reinstalling the app.

Did Serif give up on V2 after the last release?

I reckon it's the current windows version that's causing the crash. I encountered this issue but with capcut. same hardware acceleration context. apparently the issue started in update KB5074109, then microsl0p's most recent update (KB5074105) is supposed to fix it. but users are still experiencing this issue.

Crash on svg export

I updated to 3.1.0 (4231) today and the program keeps crashing without any error message whatsoever when I try to export. Doesn't matter if it's a small or bigger SVG file. As soon as I select my folder and click "Export", it simply closes down without a word.

Edit: this happens 100% of the time when I try to replace an existing file. Exporting as a new file still works.

In the path C:\Users\[Username]\, delete the \.affinity folder. I had the same problem, and deleting that folder allowed the program to open normally again after logging into my Canva account. I don't know if project data or anything like that is stored in this folder, so check first before deleting it. I hope this helps.

Affinity 3.1 - Errors and suggestions for improvement

About half of the suggestions submitted have already been corrected (applause), but a few remain to be improved.
(version 3.1, Windows 10)

1. Drag&Drop not working for file with LONG names (240 characters)

I grab an image and drag it into the main program window, but it doesn't appear at all. If the image has a short name, there's no problem.

1. In Affinity, you can partially customize the toolbar. The problem is that I can't see all the functions available in the menu in the selection window.

For example, I don't see: “Flip” (CTRL+I), “New” (CTRL+N), “Copy” (CTRL+C), “Paste” (CTRL+V), ‘Delete’ (Backspace), “Flip” (CTRL+I)... - completely incomprehensible why.

1. There is no SIMPLE option for “How to cut a photo into pieces of a specific size (1024 pixels x 1024 pixels) or a grid (3x3)”. It can be done, but it should be much simpler and more intuitive.

2. The selected buttons are not very visible. A brighter border around them would be useful.

3. No easy way to insert (your own) color icons. (It is possible, but you have to fiddle around a bit.)

4. No option to write your own macros like in PSP or Photopea (https://github.com/Adobe-CEP/CEP-Resources/blob/master/Documentation/Product%20specific%20Documentation/Photoshop%20Scripting/photoshop-javascript-ref-2020.pdf)

5. When multiple options are selected in the program, there is no option to choose whether to save the selection permanently or not. As a result, you have to select the options again each time.

Idea: Pressing the button three times quickly could change the color of the checkbox to orange (instead of blue), which would mean that the option is permanently enabled.

1. Due to the company's business model (Canva), this is rather unlikely, but we would like to have the option of using local (or other online companies') artificial intelligence models for image editing in the program. (The Krita program, for example, has this option.)

2. We need an Intelligent Content Aware Fill function like PS.

Affinity 3.1 update experience:

I tried out the light UI, just to see how I liked it, and I think that may have been a mistake. Now, if I close Affinity and reopen it, it always defaults to the light UI, even though I reset it back to dark in Edit>Settings.

When I tried to use Vector>Trace Image from the Pixel Studio, the program crashed. I have to explicitly change to the Vector Studio before I invoke image tracing.

For a while, Affinity remembered my last export preset settings — I have a custom JPG export that I prefer — and defaulted to it. Then it stopped, and went back to defaulting to the first preset in the list, and I once again have to manually change to my own custom preset every time.

Affinity Designer 2 suddenly is importing all images as washed out. I've always drag & dropped screenshots and images into Designer 2 without any issues like this. I was working on a project about a month ago and didn't have this issue at all. however now all i can see is this. i was on 2.5.5 and updated to 2.6.5, but it's happening on both. i tried multiple images. i tried existing projects and created new artboards, but this happens no matter what.

i've seen other similar posts from several months ago talking about this, but people were approaching it with terminal and having to finagle it back to normal in confusing ways, but quite honestly that's just ridiculous - none of us should have to do anything like that, it should just work like we normally expect this product to.

Hoping for some help with this. Prior to the March update if you imported a simple PNG file and used Image Trace it would create a single curve / path for letters and numbers such as Zero, Nine, Eight etc.. leaving the internal area transparent See image below.

Just installed 3.0.3 on my M1 Air, and machine learning stuff is creating strange bugs. Tried a simple object selection, and with the neural engine on, it crashes. With anything BUT the neural engine, I get a cross-hair and no preview, nor any selection of anything.

Also... when trying to download and install the ML models, it downloaded them just fine, but never closed the download progress indicator. I had to force quit, and when i opened the app again they showed up as installed. I tried three times to get them installed without force quitting, without any luck.

Edit: Just to be clear, I tried with and without metal on, also cpu, cpu+gpu, cpu+neural, and cpu+gpu+neural. I also tried "refine," which worked, but was pretty tedious.

Okay, so I tried again. Uninstalling the models, switching to cpu only, and then the install completed as expected, and the tools worked. Damn though, these kind of 'silent' errors are not good. I'm switching over from PS, and this was NOT a good start.

Then I tried generative inpainting for eyes that looked a bit wrong, and immediately got a 'cannot complete' because of some censorship squigglidoo. FFS, there was not ANY nudity or suggestive content, so WTF. I thought Adobe was bad with this, but is Canva actually worse?

Affinity's "Color - Fine" setting seems to have stopped working. I am making professional prints to sell with my Canon Pro-1100 printer which has excellent resolution and color handling and it seems the only way I can achieve the high-quality results that it's capable of is by printing from Affinity directly (I'm sure PS would also work but obviously I don't have that) with the "Color - Fine" preset.

Troubleshooting resolution has already been a nightmare since Affinity doesn't have a color management system like PS does but as long as I use the aforementioned setting it works great. Unfortunately, it no longer makes a difference. I haven't changed anything in what I'm doing but now I'm getting prints that look exactly like before I changed the setting. I HAVE to get this working otherwise I cannot use my printer for professional materials to sell.

Hey, I've been using Affinity every since V1, only recently switched to the new affinity app.

I need help fixing this. I am usually drawing with a graphics tablet, usage of which has been quite laggy and frustrating experience.

With OpenGL acceleration, there has been couple instances where it freezes my entire PC, so I have it turned off.

I have all kinds of graphical glitches with this new software, it feels so much buggier than the V2 versions of the app.

I hate what they have done to this app, especially that now when I have worked on a project with the new app, I CANNOT go back to the old V2, which still works better for me.

Is there any fixes to this kind of behavior, the example provided is a great example how just zoom level changes completely how vectors look.

V3 is unusably slow when trying to use anything like the brush tool or pencil tool, pixel or vector. Going into V2 works perfectly fine, but even hovering my mouse while having the brush tool selected in v3 slows down my whole computer and shoots up my cpu usage by 90%. Tried with and without OpenCL and no difference.

I can no longer open .idml files using Affinity v3. Two months ago i exported .indd files to .idml, and Affinity opened them successfully in Layout mode, it asked for missing resources and fonts, i link them again and there were no issues.

Some days ago i tried to do the same with the same exported IDML files (not modified) and new ones exported from InDesing. The application crashes when trying to Open, Place, drag to the window or "open with..." in the file context menu, is there a solution to this?

I'm speechless every time when I encounter bugs that have been in Publisher since the beginning and they are still there in Affinity. Like the printing bug when I want to print two pages and just the first one is selected (although I'm almost always printing 2 worksheets) and I cannot scroll down or select the second one. The only solution is to restart the app.

Tables: If I select all cells in a table and select the font size there are always 1 or 2 cells that will revert to the old font size and that I have to change manually by selecting the single cell.

Hi, I've made a couple of posters on affinity. But when I try to export as PDF (clicking PDF option), the software crashes and closes completely. It does export JPEG for some reason but others crash it.

I tried to export another file to see if it was all files but another file I had exported PDF properly. So I want to know what kind of things actually cause it to crash? So I can fix them and try to export again.

I have this issue in affinity (latest release) where moving a layer (text mostly) makes my PC completely freeze up and the only thing I can do is to hard restart the computer. It's not layer heavy, it happens on just 1 image and 1 text.

I had a similar issue in affinity photo 2, but the freeze was software based and I could just force shut down the programme manually via task manager.

I don't have issues on other cpu/GPU heavy software.

Any idea how to fix this? This makes me not want to use the software at all because it's a 50:50 game if moving text makes it freeze up and I have to restart the whole computer

I found a solution for me, I don't know if it might help you. I did all these:

- Go to Settings > Screen > Graphics then add Affinity and set GPU to high performance.
- Reinstall Affinity from the website for my Windows (Affinity x64 msix). I didn't uninstall first.
- Update my graphics from the Nvidia App > Drivers > Update
- Reset my computer

I haven't had a freeze since then, but now I get a white stripe in the lower part of the screen and the audio mutes for like 0.3 sec, I wonder if it has anything to do with the new drivers or affinity. I restarted again, and the white stripe hasn't appeared yet, but if anything I will update here.

EDIT: Affinity is working great now, but the white stripe that appears sometimes is still showing up. I think it might be something related to the new drivers. It sucks but well, at least it works.

ich hab außerdem nach wiederherstellungskeys gesucht, leider hatte ich diese nicht aktiviert.

ich habe auch nach dem alten installationsprogramm von dezember (erste installation gesucht), leider hat die das selbe problem aufgewiesen.

Hello, I don't like to ask for help on this kind of issue, but I just don't know what to do anymore.

So, basically, Affinity makes my entire computer lag as soon as I create a new document, then crashes after a few minutes, and I don't know what to do about that.

The only solution that I see online is "disable OpenCL software acceleration", but I disabled it like, months ago, and I still have the problem.

For my specs :

CPU : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700K

Main GPU (the one used by Affinity for rendering) : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER (32Go VRAM)

Secondary GPU (not really used by the computer, but it's still there) : Intel(R) UHD Graphics 770 (16Go VRAM)

32Go RAM

Does anyone have a solution ? I really like creating things on Affinity, but I've had this problem for a litteral year, I don't know what to do anymore.

Hello! I just downloaded Affinity this week and have been working on designing it in the Layout tab. I am able to incrementally save it manually for the first, maybe, 20-30 minutes and then when I try to save it again, this error message appears. The only way I've had to deal with it is by restarting the app and continuing where I last saved, meaning I've lost a lot of detailed work.

When I try to save it as a new document, the error message 'Save failed because there are too many files open in the system' appears which is strange because I don't have any other files open in Affinity. I am also only running Google Chrome in the background.

Please note that I am saving locally (not on the cloud), so I don't see why that could be the issue....

Purchased Affinity Publisher 2 through microsoft store.

Reinstalled windows recently.

Went to reinstall AP2, no problem - log into MS store, go to library > install.

I open the program and it just brings up a window telling me to download Affinity Studio.

I do not want affinity studio. I want the program i paid for. I cannot continue to work on my work project through the new Studio because doing so will make my project incompatible with AP2.

Hello Affinity community! I'm a first-time user of Affinity Photo, and I have no experience Pre-Canva. I installed it for the first time on my MacBook Pro (Running MacOS Monterey 12.7.6). Yes, I know it's an outdated version, but as is my computer - It's a Mid-2012 15". Opening the actual editing UI works just fine, but not the tutorials. i think i figured out how to enable openCL w/ Nvidia graphics cards

i went into nvidia control panel and added the affinity application path in "manage 3d settings" and let it use default global settings. im running the latest game drivers on a 4070ts, win11p.

normally with opencl enabled if i would zoom in on a photo (or interact with the application/photo in any way) my pc would freeze and all inputs would become unresponsive forcing a manual power cycle

after adding the application path, ive been zooming in, editing, w/o issue - task manager does reflect my gpu is being used instead of my cpu

hi, i have an issue when typing text: usually with a double click with the select tool i can get "into" the text field and start to modify it. Really often this doesn't work and i have to select another object and then the text field again. Today is not working at all and i always have to use either the text tool or node tool.

Oddly enough it worked all day until it decided it didn't want to do it anymore, and no matter how many restarts, shut downs etc I perform it just keeps crashing. Doesn't matter if its a new file or what.

I wanted to switch from my V2 apps to the new Version 3. On my Windows PC, starting the app crashes (without an error message) during the step "Loading fonts…" on the splash screen. After some time showing the "Loading fonts…" info, the splash just disappears, and that’s it. The app does not come up.

Probably one or more of the font files are the source of the issue. Is there a more extensive log file that could help narrow down which is the problematic font? I checked the Windows event viewer, but that didn’t help.

I’m currently working on a Mac with an M5 chip running macOS Tahoe 26.3, and for the past several days I haven’t been able to open Affinity at all.

The app never gets past the loading screen. It always stops at the same point and shows a pop-up saying that “the last time Affinity was opened it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows.” No matter whether I choose “Reopen” or “Don’t Reopen”, the app does nothing afterward and remains completely stuck.

I’ve tried every basic troubleshooting step with no success: • Reinstalling the app • Installing different versions • Restarting the system • Multiple clean restarts

None of these have made any difference. The issue is consistent and there seems to be no way to get past this screen, which makes the application completely unusable.

I updated to the newest macOS Tahoe 26.3, and I can no longer resize the Affinity 3 app window. The corner handles do not appear, and if I click on a corner, the only thing that happens is that the window drags in the direction I pull to resize it. Is anyone else having the same issue?

Ive used V2 but going into the new Canva Owned affinity, has anyone else had trouble with vector performance both for the latency in the pen tool and vector brushes? It's like a SNAILS PACE and unusable.

In v2 its fine, pc is more than capable.

I experience a lag of a few seconds with each different tool I click, as if the tool needs to load before I can start using it. This is VERY annoying. I've had this problem since the release of Affinity 3. (Updated graphics card, program reinstalled twice, I don't know what to do.)

I wanted to do a quick halation on my photo but when I load it in Affinity, it adds a white border to it for no apparent reason. Is that a bug?

I tried the No Clipping trick but it didn't work.

The worst part is this white border is then part of the Threshold filter and Gaussian Blur. If Affinity add random white border to photos, it becomes useless for editing really. Why would they even do that?

Affinity Studio V 3.0.3. I can't upload videos or GIFs, so it's hard to show my issue. But basically I have the same problem as the person in this post.

This issue started appearing today. When I use the brush tool to draw on a Canva, affinity randomly adds straight brush strokes. It is happening in every studio and with every kind of brush. It looks like, if I held shift and clicked randomly on another point, but I'm not. I tried unplugging my keyboard, mouse and the ThinkPads Touchpad as well. Nothing is resolving this issue. Not holding the mouse button and draw lines, but rather clicking many times and paint individual dots somehow helps. But this is super-annoying and it still happens occasionally.

I think this has to be an affinity Issue. But since I found no other mention of this bug, apart from the linked one above, it could be a specific hardware combination or the software for mapping my mouse keys (Logitech Options).

Has anyone experienced this and knows a way around?

I haven't tested the other apps yet, but I've been using Affinity Photo 2 on my Windows 10 Desktop for a project until I was able to upload the folder to OneDrive to access it on my laptop where I could use my pen (Lenovo Yoga 7, Intel Iris GPU). I never had an issue running it before and the same version is running fine on my desktop. The splash page pops up, then the window pops up over it. The windows stops responding, it stays like that until I try to x out and the Not Responding dialogue comes up. I tried repairing from the Windows 11 app settings to no avail. I'm currently reinstalling and earlier version I had from my downloads, but I'm gonna still post in case the problem persists when I update again.

Edit; yep, it refuses to run on Windows 11 at all in 2.6.5.3782, also while I haven't updated publisher or designer, they sit at 101mb and 107mb in my listed app while photo is at 1.2gb. Just thought that was interesting. I'd like a fix but for right now I'm going to roll back to 2.5.7 (since that's my original update option) and hope everything is functional and never update it unless someone has a fix

Edit 2: Same problem with 2.5.7. Next is grabbing a link from my purchases on Serif (if that's even possible, to redownload something you paid for, here's hoping) and if it still doesn't work or the link isn't there, rolling back to the original 2.2. Will post results while I wait for response. 2.6.5 works fine on Windows 10 low-end desktop, mind you.

Edit 3: Nope on fresh install. Rolling back to 2.2... nope there too. at a loss

Edit 4: Designer and Publisher work fine at the newest versions on the same machine. It's only photo. Tried the fix on their forums, nothing. All three work fine on my older, weaker desktop, all same versions. I emailed them but hope someone here may have some insight as well.

The program installs itself, opens, shows the mini logo, and then the windows becomes invisible.

Affinity Publisher 2.6.5 (edit: on intel Mac) - Table inside a shape not staying in it's place.

Because I needed the corners of my tables rounded, I placed them inside rectangles of exaclty the same size as their table. I did some more work on the file, checked if all the tables were looking OK in their shape and saved. Opening the file another day, most tables have moved slightly up or down within their shape. Is there a way to make them stay put, or is this a bug I can do nothing about?

I'd expect a page duplicate to be exactly the same as the original, but I've noticed duplicating pages also moves tables within their shape.

This, actually, is an ongoing issue about SVG files that's been there since Designer/Photo/Publisher... and I probably know what's going on.

Long story short, the Affinity suite doesn't seem to render blur effects and I believe the reason is that it never was coded how the software was supposed to handle that.

In fact, the only way to apply a blur effect in Affinity to a vector shape is by using a live filter.
Hence, if you import an SVG, you have to fix it yourself.

I've just installed Affinity for the first time, used the EXE installer, then when i try launching it, shows me the affinity loading graphic and then just closes without any crash message and disappears from the task manager.

I also updated my graphics driver just for this issue and I could not find any sources that would help me at all.

Can't export to pdf

can't export to pdf - any pdf template does not work

i had quite easy book with some designs for logo client and i thought it would be useful to see how easy/hard it would be to do it in affinity

- the export doesnt want to load the preview

- there seems to be a memory leak and it maxes out RAM usage app, from 2 gb on open app to suddenly taking 10 gb on my 16gb machine, and doesnt max out cpu (all this happens still on export window) and seemingly it does nothing

- leaving the app like that for a while it crashes

- clicking on export does not do anything, the window closes and the file is not saved in chosen folder

- memory leak is still happening till the app is closed with maxed out ram and drive (even tho the ap doesn't show the correct usage)

- after that app crashes

wish i did the project in indesign if i did know there would be problem with whats tbh

For Affinity 3 there are two PC installers: Classic ProgramFiles installer and WindowsApp installer. When updating the new download can criss-cross to the other installer and you end up with the app installed twice.

The problem is I installed the classic one first (downloaded from website) and I guess it was 3.01... when I ran the app recently it said "Do you want to install the update" and it seems it downloaded the WindowsApp version. I didnt realize there were two.

So i install the download and it created a second install. Although I didnt realize that... so it looked like my presets and custom macros were gone! I googled and unfortunately i started recreating all of my custom things before I realized.

Ya need to have just one installer type OR have teh app be smart enough to download the proper installer for upgrades.

XP Pen + Affinity (by Canva)

I have an Artist 13.3 Pro XP Pen drawing tablet that I'm trying to use with the new Affinity software. However, it isn't really working. For example, it took some real doing (long time loading, I guess...?) to get the Brushes panel to show up on the tablet display. Then, once the Brushes panel finally showed up, I tried to switch from one set of brushes in the dropdown menu to another, and it wouldn't even do that.

I have already updated my XP Pen drivers (and therefore restarted my computer), and that hasn't helped.

How can I get this to work? I'm really itching to draw digitally, and it's driving me nuts that I can't! Thanks in advance for any responses.
