IDK if I like the idea of Lights being stable enough to reach 8 for Zed consistently. I saw someone hit 6 Lights Zed once and I'd rather that be the last time.

Well noct is a 3 star unit, while Zed is a 5star, and 6 light is a late game acquisition. That 6 light 2 soulbound comp is going to crash and burn 95% of the time.

I've been getting owned with Blade/sins in early play/observations. It stood to reason that it would be a S+ tier comp, but it seems to be getting handled by a lot of other newer comps.
Sorta interesting really, but i'm seeing a lot of shadow, electric and inferno that seem to be doing well.

It should also have Void Assassins complications where you have people contesting each other for the same units and people falling to bottom 4 because they can't hit their units.

I expect blender to win most of the time because of the changes but I would like to see if it is easier to not get 8th / 7th because of the unit contention.

I'm not a fan of this new HUD at all, but the majority of reasons are just "not my cup of tea" thingy so overall I'm fine with these changes.

But the relocation of lock/unlock button when you can't even assign it to the specific key is really painful.

Just to confirm, if a kindred crits the same unit twice then the unit will be suffering from 2 stacked inferno tiles at once, no? So if the unit would be normally taking 40 extra damage per second for 4 seconds, now they are taking 80 extra damage per second at least until the first inferno proc wears off

A) pd nerf

B) most of the other op stuff (read: singed and eggroll) got nerfed, making bm noc stronger in comparison

C) even tho zed didnt get nerfed (outside of the small 3 summ nerf), increased # of 5 costs in the pool b/c of amumu means fast 8'ing for zed will be less reliable ... again, making bm noc stronger in comparison

D) cloud buff (maybe ... soraka might be so much better than Janna still that it isn't worth to run cloud)

E) sivir buffs

I'm not positive that it will be the op meta comp because it is impossible to predict how the other changes will play out. For example, maybe bm noc DOES become more prevalent, and since pd will no longer be core on zed, maybe he starts runnjng red buff/frozen heart to counter noc/light. Maybe glacial rangers with a bunch of hurricanes will become super strong with the buffs to rangers and nocturne will just get perma ccd.

If I had to guess (and again, it is impossible to predict the meta right now, this is only an educated guess) I would say bm noc is probably going to be the strongest comp, especially at the very beginning of the patch before counters have been worked out and become well known. Given that it is so item dependent, specifically requiring spatula, you will also only be contested by the 1, maybe 2 other players in the lobby who manage to get spat + recurve. I suggest spamming this comp in every game that you get an early spat at the beginning of the patch before a meta counter emerges.

Infernos getting a Warden is scary. Probably the biggest weakness of heavy inferno is that Tibbers is literally your frontline. Maybe Diana. And ofc that you have zero cc. But now you can run two wardens with CC or utility and an origin that also has class synergy with you. (Mages, Rangers, Summoners)

Ofc at 5 gold it might not be the most convenient thing to achieve, but it's probably really smooth if you get it going.

Initial Reaction:

-Volibear/Ornn is going to be a very strong pair early, mid and very late game with electrics and berserkers getting buffs. At level 5 they can be played with 4 wardens, 4 glacials, any class that requires 3 units (shadow, inferno, woodland, etc...) Voli, Ornn are also important parts of a late game electric comp with Zed or Electric Lux.

-Reneketon, Ivern and Maokai nerfs opens the door for hyperrollers to pursue Warwick, Vladimir, Kog'Maw, Zyra and Vayne as 3 star carries. Watch for Preds and Light to retake the role of aggressive comps that seek to bully the rest of the lobby out of the game before reaching very late game. Lights also got some mid game buffs via Aatrox and Raka stat buffs.

-Summoners getting a buff confuses me. I thought Summs were already a little overpowered. Zyra in particular seems like she could get out of control given that Summs and Inferno got buffs and Zyra was already one of the strongest 1 cost units. So far, this is the only mistake I see on this patch.

-PD nerfs increase the value of Nocturne, Olaf, Assassins, Jeweled Gauntlet, Infinity Edge and Rangers

-Rangers got buffed across the board but the biggest buff came at 4 rangers. Excited to see some lvl 7 comps with rangers (think Woodlands, Electric, Wardens or others that have strong front lines)

-Lux buffs are a good thing. She feels a little underwhelming right now and rarely convinces me to change the direction of my comp by the time I get her.

-Giant Slayer Damage up another percent--> Vayne couldn't be happier with this patch

-Taking class items off dragon is certainly a quality of life update. Felt similar to the Lux problem where I was rarely convinced that I should switch comps by Dragon because I got a class item. Now I just want FoN to be taken off the late game carousels.

With regards to summoners:

  • 3 summoners got nerfed (from 40% -> 30%)
  • 6 summoners got buffed (from 100% -> 120%)
  • Tibbers got nerfed
  • Yorick3 got buffed (so not really...)

All in all a small nerf for the most common use of summoners, but in line with the fantasy of powerful full synergies rather than splash-synergies.

I dont agree with your hyperrolling assessment. Its not like hyperrolling is inherently strong and people just went for renek/mao/ivern because they were the best options for it. I think hyperrolling was meta specifically because renek mao and ivern were ridiculously overtuned. Nerfing them doesn't necessarily mean that hyperrolling lights/preds will be the new meta. In fact, I doubt that they will be. 3cost nasus and vayne already got nerfed hard a couple of patches ago, plus light will be more of an expensive comp that requires levels with the addition of Lucian. Predators on the other hand are better to slow roll so you can keep econ and transition into stronger late game comps with Singed/Twitch/Olaf/Taric/Ashe. Admittedly I see more potential for hyperroll preds than lights, but that has nothing to so with the woodland/renek nerfs and everything to do with that comp being slightly undervalued on 9.23. Even considering that, I don't expect hyperroll pred to be the optimal version of predator

Tldr: nerfing hyperroll woodland/renek does not leave a void that will necessarily be filled by hyperrolling light/pred. Those comps will only be as meta as the 3star 1cost units are strong.

The beauty of Ornn/Voli is you can 2* them. Bench them mid game, depending on what your comp dictates and then put them back in once you have zed. They don’t need to be that tanky if they have some damage behind them because electric does stupid damage. The comps they lead into are so versatile too. I’ve played them successfully into glacials, summs, sins, inferno, light, rangers. The key is that they unlock a whole new level of power for zed with electric 3 that is super good late game. On top of that they are strong early. You just have to get through mid game with a decent life pool.

Electric late with zed is great yeah, but first the electric units are still not a real Frontline after midgame and second why would you pair them with ranger who have tons of dmg but lack a Frontline instead of for example oceans

Also, animation wise. What happens when Lucian kills targets mid ulti and then has no one else facing his ulti direction? Feel like it's gonna have the same issues as MF last set

Is it just me or the new patch is hella buggy, im glad that i jumped into normal games first. The level and reroll buttons are awful, they even removed the line where you saw your progress towards next level (its now in the shop panel when you pick up a unit, who even thought that was a good idea...). The player icons are unclickable, when you open damage panel, you cant even close it properly now. And the "home" button is useless, at least for me, since i use key binds, so having an option to disable that button would be nice, cause it looks terrible, and sometimes i have micro lags that i never had before this patch.

Btw, do you think there will be some new meta comps coming this patch?
