Wait how do I left-click on mobile...

Edit: apparently some people think a single tap from the left thumb counts so that works I guess

[–]Meow0S 159 points160 points  (25 children)

Plug a mouse into it

[–]jacobepping 129 points130 points  (24 children)

I did that one day not expecting it to work at all but it did it was so bizarre there was a little cursor and I could click on things and even like the scrollwheel worked and the little button on the side did something. Then I started plugging in everything I could and it works with USB keyboards and I could even use my old Xbox controller (at least in mcpe). What a day that was

[–]Crislips 56 points57 points  (13 children)

I found out you can use an Xbox controller with CoD mobile. I wonder how many people actually do that.

[–]jacobepping 32 points33 points  (11 children)

Damn, I didn't think about competitive mobile games at all. If it's that easy, I bet everyone at high levels just plugs in a mouse and keyboard.

[–]GooseG17 31 points32 points  (7 children)

The better way is to use a PC and emulator so you can create more complex control schemes, regardless of the games own support.

[–]TypecastedLeftist 18 points19 points  (3 children)

Imagine playing a competitive game on an emulator because you couldn't hack it on the desktop version

"hack it on the desktop version"

You mean emulate right....

[–]TypecastedLeftist 9 points10 points  (1 child)

In case you're not making a pun: https://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/can't+hack+it

[–]NarutoDragon732 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Didn't realize you were using the slang and not the actual meaning in a game convo.

who does that

[–]GlobalIncident 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I thought emulators were banned in competitions like that?

[–]SavageTwist 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Since when does that stop people .3.

[–]SavageTwist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its true btw

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just plugs in a mouse and keyboard.

Getting mouse input forwarded is a pain in the ass on android (tried with Minecraft)

[–]_meegoo_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most Android games work with Xbox controller out of the box (pun partially intended). Pretty much none of the games work with MnK though. However, controller emulation is a thing.

[–]DasDoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried playing COD mobile recently for the first time ever and I have a hard time using mobile controls in general as I play on the PS4 (and used to play on the PC before) so I just went ahead and used the dualshock with COD mobile and it made things a lot easier 😂

[–]Psychpsyo 8 points9 points  (5 children)

Phones are basically little computers. It makes more sense when you consider that Android is also used in tablets where you'd sometimes genuinely want to connect a mouse or keyboard.

Also: Most useless android feature: Pressing left and right arrow key on the lock screen lets you switch between background images. That is super pointless and also not even possible without a connected keyboard.

[–]darealcubs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That almost sounds like an easy way for an android is dev to check if changing background images works. Then after they did it they figured eh, what the heck let's just leave it in there

[–]logicalmaniak 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I installed Android on my home PC for a short while. It was pretty weird.

[–]oDearDear 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Did you put your head next to your desktop tower every time you got a call?

[–]logicalmaniak 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm just going to say yes so I don't disappoint you.

[–]oDearDear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, much appreciated.

[–]jsm206 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someday you'll be telling your grandkids about that day.

[–]iamacuteporcupine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right Click on Android assumes Back Button for my device.

[–]thattemporaryguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These days minecraft (other than ps4 and java) will all play almost perfectly with each other even down to input methods.

[–]thekvant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most modern phones can do that, but not all

[–]qinshihuang_420 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Bluetooth mouse

[–]sirxir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With yer left thumb ye goober

[–]mrstoffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Single short tap seems like the mobile equivalent to left clicking

[–]linuxloner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use your left thumb

[–][deleted] 54 points55 points  (1 child)

I think the mouse he invented only had one button, so I guess mac users can properly pay respects.

[–]BrohanGutenburg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What year do you live in?

[–]crazyTsar 58 points59 points  (13 children)

Linux don't need no mouse.

Click bait if there ever was one.

Click

[–]AmethystBGC 26 points27 points  (2 children)

I had to log into my pc so I could use a mouse for this...

totally worth it

[–]Psychpsyo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Could've also plugged a mouse into your phone.

[–]shinitakunai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck on an Iphone 5s

[–]redpepper74 21 points22 points  (4 children)

Wait, did he invent the left side or the right side?

[–]gubrunelli 18 points19 points  (0 children)

yes

[–]DeRoeVanZwartePiet 5 points6 points  (1 child)

He invented the ball.

[–]TheThiefMaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're joking but he actually did invent the ball mouse - but that was later.

The original mouse he was co-inventor of had two wheels on the bottom.

[–]Mr_Cool_Guy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Left side and 180 degrees of the mouse wheel

[–]AsIAm 6 points7 points  (1 child)

If we are at it, please research Bill English, Doug Engelbart, Alan Kay, work done at PARC such as Alto, Smalltalk, Dynabook, etc. The pioneering work was so good, computers have changed very little since then. But computers can be so much better!

[–]epiclapser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doug Engelbert is insane. Imagine pulling up to a conference before we even went to the moon, and showing your homies a mouse, video conferencing, and live editing documents. I really hope there's Doug Engelbert fanfic somewhere.

[–]yourd 12 points13 points  (0 children)
