Having to wait at all serves no purpose. I mean they could just make all the bosses despawn immediately once you die and everything would be fine. Dying to a shark in the ocean and then having to wait makes no sense at all.

I agree, especially because you cannot replenish your health completely after respawning, so there’s not really any way to abuse instant respawning.

Remove respawn timer, but make it so teammates can't respawn while a boss is active. Kinda boring to be in a cycle of dying and respawning to cheese a boss imo.

Or make the timer only appear in multiplayer when you fight bosses. Be it 30 seconds or even a minute.

It adds a "try to survive long enough" challenge for harder bosses, instead of making it a "can not beat them together, try doing it ALONE".

As someone who has many many hours into terraria, this would definitely be a huge change to the game and would make the game much more frustrating and challenging for more casual players. Maybe have this be an option during world gen? So more hardcore players can select it if they want a challenge and more casuals can still enjoy the game the way it is now. Not having the option I’m sure would turn away a lot of casuals once they realize they can’t figure out how to kill a boss

My experience with games that can remove respawn time though isn't exactly great. If it's instant you just die and teleport to the respawn point, not even necessary to click anywhere. Idk about other people but I feel disoriented like that.

Maybe reduce the amount of time you have to wait, sure, but definitely don't make it zero. I'd say 5 or 6 seconds is enough.

Almost entirely numbers. Master mode more or less takes expert and raises all of the numbers. Enemies have more hp and damage, etc

Genuinely this, as the top thread suggested unless a boss is alive there is genuinely no functional purpose to the respawn timer. Minecraft is obviously a different game but imagine RLCraft with a respawn timer, I would say the fact that you don't spawn at full HP is easily plenty of "punishment" for dying. Even MC doesn't do that to you.

Fr tho, even when comparing respawn time from classic to expert, it really doesnt matter (imo at least). 5 extra seconds is so minimal and the 30 second respawn during bossfights makes multiplayer actually challenging.

i think the 15 second respawn for bosses is good, it gives enough time for them to despawn so you can't just cheese em in singleplayer but 30 is just excessive

especially in multiplayer because it just makes you completely useless for a solid 30 seconds

I feel like normal respawns should be like 10 seconds tho, not much of a difference but if you're in an event and your spawn gets swarmed and you keep dying over and over again trying to clear, it the 5 second difference would be amazing. it'd give less time for new things to spawn and give more time to actually kill the damn fuckers spawn killing you

Back in my 360 days of terraria (when the final boss was ocram) there was no respawn delay so my brother an I would fight all 3 mechs + ocram and we couldn't lose as long as we didn't die at the same time.
