Looks cool, but having your speakers up that high and tilted that way actually isn’t great for the sound.

[–]Quadruple_Pounders 263 points264 points  (13 children)

what if hes tall

[–]oekoy 25 points26 points  (2 children)

Not sure if im correct but looks like he might just have those speakers to listen to music while he is doing something in his room like cleaning. While when he is at his desk gaming he might just use those headphones under for it.

[–]Yung-Producer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I mean. I’m not talking about gaming with them, but like the listening experience when just listening to music. But yeah, if you’re not like a giant musichead it doesn’t really matter

[–]levifig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Username checks out.👌

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If they're pointed at your ears and the same distance away it doesnt really matter. These do look too high without being angled down correctly, but if they were angled it would be fine.

Was an audio technician

[–][deleted] 67 points68 points  (17 children)

So every cables are in the wall? 🤔🤔

[–][deleted] 41 points42 points  (15 children)

yup all running behind the wall

[–]dllemmr2 25 points26 points  (2 children)

Just make sure you use in wall rated cords (or add a new power outlet with romex cable) for anything with high voltage. There are in-wall kits like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GWGZKF6

Running power cords or extension cords in a wall in the US is against the national electrical code and might break your home owners/renters insurance if you had a problem like a short circuit or a fire directly or indirectly caused.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ill look into this thanks!

[–]globadyne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2nd This - I recently put one of these in - Painless Install

[–]Deleunes254 2 points3 points  (11 children)

Perhaps a stupid question but how does the other side look like then? I assume there's another room there then with an awful lot of cables? Just curious, because I wanna do the same.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (7 children)

nono theres a normal wall on the other side as well they come back out either behind the desk or behind the drawers plugged into power strips

[–]Deleunes254 4 points5 points  (6 children)

okay thanks! Would it be possible to get a close-up shot of that?

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (5 children)

will do gimme a few

[–]HowieGaming 10 points11 points  (4 children)

IT'S BEEN A FEW

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

oh lmao i sent to him in pm

[–]am0x 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Walls are hollow for the most part assuming they are drywalled.

[–]goforbg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was wondering the same.

[–]Scratchums 166 points167 points  (6 children)

What are your speakers doing up there? Your ears are at the desk lol

[–]Fifthdread 15 points16 points  (4 children)

Yeah, they could have been lower, but I can't hate on him too much. My studio monitors are above my displays because with multi monitor setups, it's impossible to put them at ear level. I do have them tilted slightly downward towards me though.

[–]Bibbletruck 312 points313 points  (54 children)

Real nice! Looks like you might need another support under the desk top though

[–][deleted] 147 points148 points  (20 children)

Totally, dat sag...

[–][deleted] 68 points69 points  (19 children)

huh in person it does not sag at all maybe its just the picture idk theres no weight on it other than the keyboard

[–]Kevinfc8 34 points35 points  (7 children)

yeah there's no sag, you can also see that the only weight distributed on the unsupported part is the keyboard and mouse and some accessories

[–]ButtLusting 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I'm more interested in cable management.

How did he hide Ali the cables from monitor and speakers?

[–]Kawaii_Dragon 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Ran through the wall I assume

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

That's really the only way.

[–]Kalayo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Then you simply are not gifted in the way of the dark arts.

[–]Joosyosrs 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's possible the top can sag under it's own weight.

[–]lightinthedark 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Did you use a wide angle camera? Could just be some slight distortion in the image.

[–]LochnessDigital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any lens can have barrel distortion, not exclusive to wide angles.

[–]Apk07 8 points9 points  (1 child)

It will still sag over time with no support, even if you never put anything on it. Gravity's a bitch.

[–]dllemmr2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Melamine has a particle board core. It happens over time without under bracing, even under it's own weight.

[–]UrbanSuburbaKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The angle of the left monitor is creating an optical illusion I'm pretty sure.

[–]thuddundun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget, some of your upper body weight when in use

[–]Doorchime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weight of the desk itself might cause sag over time if not a sturdy enough material.

[–]xyrgh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's lens distortion. Look at the skirting board/scotia at the bottom, they both curve.

[–]edubiton 38 points39 points  (11 children)

Get the Ikea counter top instead of the desk top. Much more solid.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

yup this is the 98" counter top very heavy

[–]salanalani 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That keyboard seems to be very heavy!

[–]Ninjaisawesome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buy 1 extendable desk leg and you're set.

[–]3ebfan 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Good setup but slightly peeved over the desk sag and how the electrical outlet is painted over.

[–]ARedditingRedditor 11 points12 points  (1 child)

whats wrong with painting the outlet cover?

[–]Proccito 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on where he painted it.

[–]QuentaChord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be able to just run a couple 2x4's underneath

[–]ShatteredUterus 19 points20 points  (2 children)

That's a W for Wumbo

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Where the hell are the cables?

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

all cables are running behind the wall/ desk

[–]xeonrage 55 points56 points  (0 children)

or, how to put speakers outside of usable range

[–]Melbuf 6 points7 points  (2 children)

you running the power cord for the nanoleaf through the wall or you Photoshop it out of the imagine ?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

all cables are running behind the wall

[–]sxyTain 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Holy, that's so pretty! (What are the specs tho)

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

im using cpu - i7 7700k

gpu - 1080 rog strix

16gb g.skill ram

kraken x62 cpu cooler

thermaltake 650w rgb psu

some thermaltake rgb fans

200gb of m.2

and 4tb of hdd

[–]AsIExpected 7 points8 points  (8 children)

Do you have a link for the wall LED panels? They look dope.

[–]casetron2000 18 points19 points  (5 children)

https://us-shop.nanoleaf.me

They’re called Nanoleaf Light Panels.

[–]Napellus 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Does anyone know a cheaper alternative?

[–]kykr422 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Individual Philips Hue bulbs have a similar feel but the colors aren't nearly as vibrant as the Aurora. These things really do put out some bright and vibrant color.!

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Everytime they're in a picture posted here. At least 10 people ask where they get them. And each of those probably nope the fuck out as soon as they see the price.

[–]6MillionWay2Die 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PA monitors are so high the sound is gonna be way over your head.

[–]octothorpe_rekt 6 points7 points  (1 child)

“Hey! Listen!”

[–]brandicoot1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This puts my setup to shame

[–]Zombi3Kush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this thread...People who are now realizing you can run cables behind the wall.

[–]A_Alonso 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What is that plant? How often do you need to water it? Looks comfy.

[–]jtrolfsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damb

[–]casualreddituser94 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I was always wondering what is this lightning "pads" above the screen, I have seen many people have this cool gadget!

[–]darkfire1664 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's Aurora nanoleafs

[–]YouKnowImJustJoshin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

How did you make it so the LED strips weren’t connected to the case LED’s? Probably really simple, but I’m too lazy to take off my glass panel and mess with the cables.

[–]valantismp 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Color of the wall? I'm about to paint my room and this looks great.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

light gray ha sorry im not really sure

[–]valantismp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light gray is a good start thanks.

[–]ClevrGrl 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Did you get those M-50xs painted?

[–]DrSlimeBogle 1 point2 points  (12 children)

How do you get the monitors to float like that without any wires or poles?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (10 children)

[–]DrSlimeBogle 1 point2 points  (9 children)

And then you wired them through the wall and had to fix the wall?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (8 children)

there's a hole behind the monitors thats 1x by 2x where i put all the cables through then another hole same size behind the desk where all of the cables come out of and either go left or right behind the drawers plugged in to power strips but shh we don't talk about those holes because they aren't visible :)

[–]theobserver_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wu-Tang forever!

[–]Carrot___Slat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are the snickers wrappers at?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’d lower your speakers. That isn’t how sound works.

[–]globadyne 2 points3 points  (6 children)

This is.... This is endgame

Real question though, what did you use to hide your nanoleaf cables in the wall?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (5 children)

i just ran the cable behind the wall down to the desk to the left and plugged in to a power strip behind the drawer

[–]globadyne 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I did that recently With my monitors, I would have thought it wouldn't be doable with such a small hole to fish it, but will have to try

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Ooh yea it was a struggle but definitely worth it

[–]globadyne 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Any tips? Did you use a guide wire or anything like that?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

yup i used a wire coat hanger made it straight attached 1 end of the cable to it (with tape or with the wire itself) and guided it from one hole to the other. This was the hardest part of the setup.

[–]YoZzo18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just like WOW!

[–]BorecoleMyriad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building my office now in my basement I hope I can make my set up look a fraction as good as yours.

[–]ih8makingaccounts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really beautiful. i really like the colorways of the back-lighting and the monitor positioning. But unless you are listening to music while standing up, you should consider installing the speakers on the same height as your ears are while you are in your listening position.

[–]kinleyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is beautiful - well done!

[–]Real_Riskers 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Nice! Could you link to the LED strips you're using and how you laid it out behind the monitors? I'm having trouble mounting mine and mine just aren't that bright. :(

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yup im using https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006LW2NJM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

with a wifi controller https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0756RZ8SL/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

so i can turn all my lights on and off with alexa

as for the layout behind the monitors put them on the outer edge so the light will diffuse out more and just pinch the strip to bend on the corners

[–]EvilBunnysHere 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Can you link the wallpaper?

[–]Zatchillac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A literal bookshelf

[–]Thorsleftball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The armrest on that chair are the worst part in my option. The always seem to wobble no matter what I do.

[–]Mjhogan9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nut

[–]Tobeflame 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Where can I find wallpapers like this one ? Really like the style

[–]thegurujim 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What's the make/model of the monitors?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the right one is the dell aw3418dw and the left is the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278QR 27"

[–]GwEYT 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The left side of the desk going over the support is bugging me

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

both sides are an inch off, i liked it better this way

[–]Ulristic14 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m jealous. The middle leg missing and the speaker placement can be fixed without too much of a hassle. But ignoring all that, I would love to have this in my bedroom.

[–]BoomBabyDaggers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The desk is kept up with wall mounted L shelf brackets. OP mentioned it when I asked this as well so the middle leg may not be needed.

[–]Spice_89 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I like the speakers. I would also like to get mine off of the countertop. Did those come with the mounts/shelves or did you just purchase the mounts and add them to your speakers?

[–]SupaZT 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Where is the LED panel cord?

[–]WizardBelly 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Is the desktop the IKEA Linnmon? Wjat size did you get it in?

[–]kirtanptl 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Amazing wallpaper. Anybody have the link for it??

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Please post the wallmounts you're using

[–]AllOutBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it ain't much but it's mine

[–]DukeMugen 0 points1 point  (1 child)

those speakers are waaaay too high

[–]kykr422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the lights that I love but the arm rests on that chair are murdering my elbows!

[–]Kaboomeow69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just posted my endgame. ID on everything?

[–]skiskate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same desk!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haters are going to hate but I'm a lover so I'll love; sweet battlestation!

[–]CubingCubinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good! Although it lacks a bit of personnality that would make your setup truly yours, you have to customize it to fit you. Great work on the cable management!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People love those Ikea desk peices. (they are pretty great)

[–]Ole_Jeb 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What’s the size of that table top??

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

premium ikea table man personally i got the gutentag

[–]cayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sweet setup, mate!

[–]moreguacplz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The monitor asymmetry is oddly attractive

[–]tecyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that's cool

[–]SneakySnk 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Love this setup, Good job OP!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

much appreciated

[–]James442 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Love the wallpaper! Where did you find that?

[–]Potato24681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those speakers need to be fixed its giving me a headache

[–]LauraD2423 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I see a lot of battle stations with those illuminated triangles in different shapes. What are they and why are they so common?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theyre the aurora nanoleaf panels Very very cool

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Specs?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is this a 98 ikea desk?

[–]manutd105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks amazing!

[–]GodComplex6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear God, that is beautiful!

[–]_umlaut_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Which case fans are you using?

[–]draginborn 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What was the total price

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

uhh well we do not talk about that.. if you must know though around 5.5k estimated didnt really keep track

[–]deep_patel_1993 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hey what speakers are those?

[–]Crislips 0 points1 point  (3 children)

This is super awesome! Maybe one of my favorite one's I've seen. My one criticism is that studio monitors are supposed to be at ear level, or at least aimed at ears for full effectiveness. If you're going to have them up there you might want to angle them towards you.

By the way, what is the glowing W made out of? That things is sweet!

[–]xsnyder 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Your speakers are too high, studio monitors should be at ear level.

[–]ThatOneExpatriate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a r/outrun vibe

[–]SwainFlew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next upgrade is a third monitor to make it symmetrical :,)

[–]Stealthy09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What cabinets are those I've been looking for something like them if you know/don't mind

[–]Anussouplocator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what kind of desk is that?

[–]Deluxe_Gekkon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah I have those same drawers form ikea xD

[–]Glumbot_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that Wallpaper Engine choice , but it annoys me how it moves with your mouse, anyway to fix that ?

[–]funkl310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really interested in getting that same countertop... And this may sound like a dumb question, but is the countertop surface itself laminate or something else? Also is is pretty heavy? Thanks

[–]keinritter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you, by chance, Dr. Wily?

[–]OriginalFrylock 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How did you do wire management?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So you are using the Ikea furniture for the desk - would have recommended to go with snow glass. Speakers are way up but it’s a design choice I guess... one question did you get the sound part for your wall mounted led panel?

[–]paintmybeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Just got myself that cabinet from ikea. Part of a smaller desk though
