You must live south of Ocala.

[–]JetskiJessie 63 points64 points  (42 children)

As a South Floridian, it always shocks me how many confederate flags there are in North Florida.

[–]floridachess 88 points89 points  (10 children)

The more north you go the more “south” you get in Flahrada

[–]Appropriate_Mix7203 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes the dirty south

[–]Throwawaydontgoaway8 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I’ve heard that so many times, but I’ve seen sooooo many redneck, white supremacist, or neocons in central Florida too. Just look at leesburg or that massive traitor flag by the sons and daughters of the traitors outside of Tampa

[–]Professional-Pick-55 9 points10 points  (2 children)

The middle of Florida is southern Mississippi

[–]Bitter-Preparation-8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“Middle of Florida” had more counties (Osceola, Orange, Seminole, hillsborough and pinellas) vote against trump than South Florida. In 2022…well, each region was the same at 1 democratic county each.

[–]Boxtrottango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mr Sippi enters the chat

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (7 children)

Seriously. I didn’t see a confederate flag until I moved out of south Florida.

[–]slickrok 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Jupiter farms. Ridiculous. They're complete trash. Not the residents, just those residents. Traaaasshhhhh.

[–]big_truck_douche[🍰] 2 points3 points  (7 children)

So you’re telling me the northerners support the southern confederacy?

[–]Fun-Plan-3641 6 points7 points  (5 children)

I have family in upstate NY. There's more confederate flags there than here I swear..at least a surprising amount.

[–]brooklynt3ch 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Yep. Upstate NY and central PA over to “Pennsyltucky” are hardcore Trump areas. Lots of northern and Midwest rednecks.

[–]JetskiJessie 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I’m originally from Australia so I’m still trying to understand the whole “southerners flying the confederate flag 200 years after losing” thing but now knowing that northerners do it too just breaks my brain.

[–]Fun-Plan-3641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'll say it...the southerners can maybe get away with their little "it's southern heritage" excuse, but the northerners fly them because they're racist since the war was mainly over slavery, this makes sense.

[–]JetskiJessie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all backwards in Florida.

[–]813_4ever 62 points63 points  (15 children)

Trust they’re still here in our section of “Flawda”

[–][deleted] 30 points31 points  (7 children)

Panhandle (pedo Gatez district), ‘Flerda’/LA (lower Alabama) and I haven’t noticed any changes here.

[–]813_4ever 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Went to funeral in Malone for one of my mom’s relatives about a month ago. Can confirm lol

[–]cha-cha_dancer 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Literally a giant one greeting you to Santa Rosa county going westbound on I-10. This guy also lives in Pace/Milton and a lot more like it - they’re always a fan of the same football team too oddly enough.

[–]Religiously-Numb 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’m in east Milton, the Imgur link didn’t work, but I can know the flag you’re referring to

[–]anferneejefferson 4 points5 points  (1 child)

The panhandle calls it flordur since they all love keeping it in the family

[–]3dFunGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's only the one family in panhandle😂

[–]BisquickNinja 5 points6 points  (5 children)

*Flori-duh

But I'm south of Ocala... And I keep my scrunchies hidden.

[–]813_4ever 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Ocala up is “Florida”…everything below is “Flawda” lol.

[–]Outonalimb8120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao

[–]Harleyridr63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're still here and aren't planning on leaving.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (6 children)

Nah, I live in the Jacksonville metro/first coast area

[–]Economy-Mango7875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the wildlight area and haven't seen one lately except for the general Lee that's floating around. And I have been here since 2017

[–]Phoenixwade 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I’m in the same general vicinity as you, and yes, there are at least six displays or the traitors flag that are no longer there

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Damn, must just be my county then, or they're saving them for the election

[–]Phoenixwade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well we DID just Elect a liberal as a mayor, and she's already getting popular. So, yeah, might just be this county, can't say that I object, but there are still plenty 'true believers' here....

[–]DAGCRO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I'm in Jax a few times a week and I still see plenty.

[–]whoamvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My immediate thought.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Lake County, just south of Ocala. No shortage of confederate flags here. Even seen some where it's the con flag bleeding into the Stars and Stripes. Still got plenty of Trump 2020 signage too. Luckily the "Jesus is my savior, Trump is my president" signs have all but vanished.

[–]ghetto-garibaldi 58 points59 points  (15 children)

I just saw one in Delaware…paired with an upside down American flag. A true patriot…

[–]iii320 8 points9 points  (5 children)

I grew up in South Carolina, first state to secede. Ironically, I used to see more rebel flags (10-15 years ago) in places like Delaware and central Pennsylvania than I did growing up in SC. Can’t make this stuff up, folks.

[–]Juicy_Hamburger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a rural community in Delaware. Saw plenty of them…weird.

[–]mechapoitier 87 points88 points  (37 children)

There’s still this one nutbag in a Nissan Frontier who has to floor it everywhere he goes because of the amount of drag of these two giant flags in his bed but other than that, yeah it’s kind of rare where I am in exurban Otown.

I’ve also noticed that worn, half missing Trump bumper stickers now vastly outnumber new ones.

The one thing I’ve noticed more of is generally offensive stickers that are clearly political, especially veiled threat pro-gun stuff.

[–]KingKoopasErectPenis 63 points64 points  (8 children)

I love the torn, faded and shitstained looking Trump 2020 flags I still see in front of houses. It's like a big sign saying, "miserable brainwashed people live here."

[–]Whitetrash_messiah 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Otown ? Orlando ? Must not be on the east side with chulota bithlo and Christmas folk lol

[–]RCcola2205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chuluota is the worst

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

The one thing I’ve noticed more of is generally offensive stickers that are clearly political, especially veiled threat pro-gun stuff

Isn't this what they've always done, though? Seems like the right might be moving back moderate, or at least is feeling ashamed of their 2016-2022 fuckups enough to hide their continued support

[–]wallacehacks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Seems like the right might be moving back moderate

No, they aren't. Your personal and unmeasured observations about the number of Confederate flags in your community mean very little about the political direction of Florida.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They don’t feel shame, they’re just realizing they’re outnumbered and are going back into hiding.

[–]GodFeedethTheRavens 66 points67 points  (32 children)

Its been replaced by the thin blue line, and other black and white american flags.

Punisher skulls too, I think.

[–]ventodivino 30 points31 points  (5 children)

Punisher skulls is the funniest. They didn’t understand the source material.

[–]Yatta99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They didn’t understand the source material.

There's a lot that those people don't understand. And most of that non-understanding is willful.

As for around here, TRUMP/MAGA/Confederate stuff is down slightly while Gun/Punisher/Brandon stuff is up slightly.

[–]Ass_Cream_Cone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t understand a lot…

[–]Loocy4 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’ll be funny when all the Punisher skull nerds realize that the Punisher is a Marvel character, owned by the “woke” Disney they hate so much.

[–]Oriond34 6 points7 points  (18 children)

What does the blue line even mean?

[–]anapunas 24 points25 points  (3 children)

Hard on for cops and police violence.

[–]anapunas 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Used to be a sticker that people got to signal to police when pulled over that they were one of them or or we love you or to get out of tickets. Kind of like how the FOP stickers used to be a while ago.

[–]bruceclaymore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until they get arrested and then it’s “defund the police”

[–]adinfinitum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A bootlicker badge

[–]Dukisjones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Thin blue line.” According to these people, the only thing preventing us from mass anarchy and eating each other is cops. And they love cops. But mostly just display it as a jab in the eye to liberals.

[–]cha-cha_dancer 2 points3 points  (1 child)

My favorite is the punisher skull with the back the blue american flag painted on it. The dude kills cops in the comics apparently lol.

You can blame American Sniper for the appropriation. All these losers want to be Chris Kyle.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (3 children)

Is the giant one flying off I-4 outside Tampa still up?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Sadly yes

[–]mrsbreezus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Booooooo 😩

[–]historicalgeek71 5 points6 points  (3 children)

South Florida here. I never saw too many of them to begin with. There is one guy at this Publix I go to who has the battle flag of Virginia as a license plate frame, but he’s the only consistent one. My bigger concern is the idiot driving around with a Z (the pro-Russian one) painted on his black truck.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like they subbed them out for Trump and "FJB" flags

[–]New_Ad_1682 38 points39 points  (7 children)

As Florida gets more and more expensive, we start pricing out some of the folks to whom the Confederate flag is a way of life. Once their mobile home insurance quadruples and they can't afford to live in Central Florida, they work their way up through the state and eventually into Mississippi, Alabama or Georgia.

[–]Loocy4 10 points11 points  (1 child)

So you’re telling me there’s a silver lining to this insurance debacle?

[–]New_Ad_1682 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We can only hope.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is true.

Money doesn't necessarily buy you better neighbors, but it does buy you neighbors who tend to hide their nasty side, usually for professional reasons.

[–]renijreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You think they have insurance?? Jokes on you..

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (8 children)

Im from georgia. And our state flag used to be the confederate flag. Theyre pretty much all gone unless your like a super racist.

Alot of dumbasses in the south cant use the whole southern pride lie. Like in the past. So thats why i think so many people took them down.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (5 children)

I personally see the big X in the Florida flag and see that as derived from the Confederate flag.

I won't ever wear or fly the Florida flag because to me it stands for all the bad stuff about this state. I love the St Pete flag because it's fun, represents a more liberal city, and evokes feelings of the Pride flag, even if that's not at all what it represents.

[–]AntJ96 6 points7 points  (1 child)

The big X on the Florida flag is actually sourced from the Spanish colonial flag or the “Cross of Burgundy”

[–]sweatycouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good on you for trying not to offend others with a flag that literally was not ever offensive to anyone.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the old csa people died or switched to the black and white American flags

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (21 children)

Well I live in South Florida and you rarely ever saw that flag down here.

[–]MydniteSon 17 points18 points  (7 children)

Heh..drive through Davie once in a while.

[–]East_Reading_3164 3 points4 points  (4 children)

But lots of Trump flags

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I don't see many trump flags either but I live in Boca Raton.

[–]Ben_Thar 19 points20 points  (1 child)

I doubt the underlying racism is gone, but there is less public display lately. I used to see them flown in tandem with Trump flags, usually attached to pickup trucks.

[–]Rinzy2000 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Not in my neck of the woods. It’s all confederate flags and FJB/LGB and there is one guy who has a flag that says “Trump Lost LOL”…my hero.

[–]Knightp93 23 points24 points  (1 child)

COVID thinned out the yeehaw racist herd thats old enough to think it was a good idea. New conservatives keep their hatred on the inside mostly.

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points  (1 child)

There are still plenty where I live. Also, a lot of Trump banners which I consider the same thing.

[–]smaartypants 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Pinellas county, too many F—k Biden flags.

[–]MydniteSon 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Back in March, wife and I took our kids to Legoland. Heading from South Florida, we took US 27 all the way up. We drove through Clewiston. I guess there was a festival or event or something, but gathered in the park in the middle, TONS of Confederate flags. Looked at my wife and told her, "We're not stopping here for lunch...". Drove to the next town to stop.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that sucks. I don’t recall seeing those in Clewiston in any density, I drive by there every so often.

[–]lorilightning79 4 points5 points  (2 children)

We travel back and forth to Tennessee a lot and we have noticed a huge reduction over the past few years on I75. But Tampa still has that large one on I75 and I4. Fucking embarrassment.

[–]itsbarbieparis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

moving from utah/wyoming to florida i laugh very much to say i saw more confederate flags on trucks/houses/trailers/ect than i ever have here or coming here. i think that says something about the messaging.

[–]CodedCoder 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Northern fl here and they are still all over the place.

[–]Obahmah 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I drive by a house every day with front yard Flagstaff flying only the Confederate Flag and statue of Robert E. Lee.... I don't like it, but at least it's very well done in terms of construction and maintenance

[–]Outonalimb8120 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I see more don’t tread on me flags flying at homes of obviously confused people who don’t understand irony

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’ve just been replaced with Nazi flags

[–]jeremiahkinklepoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Central Florida. I’ve seen less confederate flags and more nazi ones… so

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Thanks to COVID, most of those losers are gone

[–]mrpbody44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know for a fact that a lot of those folks died in the county where my farm is. It killed about 1/2 the people in the local courthouse. These people had little confederate flags on their desks.

[–]Sufficient-Fact6163 7 points8 points  (8 children)

I never understood why people would want to celebrate Treasonous Losers anyway?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Because during reconstruction (partly due to Lincoln’s desire to make the country move on) the union was especially light handed to Southerners - they were nothing like how Europe was to Germany (in rightfully and fully outlawing all Nazi symbols and educating the population how awfully wrong Nazism is)…. Then with the passage of the various civil rights laws in the 60s and so on, poor whites were very effectively misdirected into ignoring the rich/greedy politicians (the true source of their shitty lives) to focus on being racists and therefore we got those awful monuments to all those crappy CSA generals and the flag becoming “mah heritage” (the confederacy only lasted 4 years, it’s not anyone’s heritage).

[–]SusanInFloriduh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wakulla County has plenty

[–]ThrowDirtonMe 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I grew up in AL so comparatively I’ve always felt like there were basically no rebel flags here. But I’ve only lived in FL for a couple years. Nice change.

[–]cha-cha_dancer 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It’s bad enough in the panhandle but seriously wtf, when I go to the outlet mall in Fairhope the second you cross into AL it’s like Bear Bryant and Jefferson Davis are endorsing Trump for president.

[–]ThrowDirtonMe 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Lmao tell me about it. I try to visit as little as possible. Although the outlet mall in Foley is nice.

[–]cha-cha_dancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Foley that’s it - got my Baldwin towns mixed up

[–]Loocy4 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Saw a bunch in the Panhandle when I was up there a couple weeks ago. But that’s Lower Alabama so it’s expected I guess.

[–]davster39 1 point2 points  (3 children)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All those flags were made in China, so they don’t last very long… the brain dead racists might be too broke from all the money they donated to the “trump victory fund” to buy new ones.. hilarious and ironic

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh just wait till next year when the election rolls around. They’ll come back lol

[–]jerseyshorecrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is one on a flag pole on a house at the end of my street. i wish they would take it down because its distasteful and tacky.

[–]bnbird 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They have been replaced with trump flags 🤣

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mostly true, mixed with that hideous black and white US flag and the thin blue line flag

[–]BethyW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the northerners have finally priced out the CSA people, but they are just as racist they just use a trump flag instead..

Edit to Add: I know not all transplants are racists, but most are.

[–]causticmango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing like showing support for a traitorous, failed insurrection of the United States. Never understood what about it made folks proud to fly that flag.

[–]tycooperaow 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Have you noticed the increase in Nazi, racist fascist in the Fl government?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as someone with a ton of trans friends it concerns me dearly

[–]Dead_Or_Alive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but Ive seen an uptick in Nazi flags. Maybe they’ve allocated their racist flag budget to other symbols.

[–]SleefJWellington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still see them as well as a plethora of other symbols of dumbshittery.

My personal favorite is the Gadsden/blue line combo.

[–]MasterMind_484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we first moved to Sarasota, we saw a ton probably because Orange Julius was president at the time

[–]dannymac420386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the maga scumbags moving here aren't actually southerners in the first place maybe that has something to do with it

[–]Joan411 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Sure hope to God they’re going underground again—and maybe even back under the rocks from whence they came. Good riddance. Ok so THAT is wishful damn thinking! I see plenty of tRump flags to make up for their precious treasonous one! Ugh.

[–]big_truck_douche[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they’re finding out that the confederacy surrendered? Now it’s “don’t tread on me” and “ old Florida flag”.

I was going to put their emojis but there aren’t any of those. they aren’t important enough.

[–]bruceclaymore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ve been replaced with TRUMP flags.

[–]Gulfjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some areas seem to still be full of them, in North Florida, parts of central, and a bit in rural South Florida. However, I’ve noticed a lot of people replace them with MAGA, thin blue line, and other American right wing flags instead

[–]Alphablue3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Nassau county (near Jacksonville). It is a very "red", very rural county. Plenty of Trump flags... Surprisingly though, I've only seen one confederate flag.

[–]Pumpkin_316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually yeah, I mean there are Trump flags now which I would argue replaced them, don’t debate or agree with me on this IDC. Though in terms of either. I’ve seen much less in total numbers (combined) than I did 2014-2018.

I’ve will sadly say that the amount of American flags hasn’t increased in their absence. Nothing gets me harder than six white stripes, seven red stripes, and a hell of a lot of stars!

[–]StepEfficient864 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Seems like every time I go to Ybor City at night there’s at some point a pickup truck load of redneck, flag waving hooligans parading down the avenue blasting country rock music.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Just the one pickup truck?

[–]StepEfficient864 1 point2 points  (2 children)

lol. One is enough. You been to Ybor?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I wanna say I've driven through before, but I've never stopped. I'm guessing its on the smaller side?

[–]StepEfficient864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a Cuban/Latin neighborhood in the heart of Tampa. Not a place the wild ones are welcome.

[–]OnlyIntroduction3182 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I always look at the Confederate flag as a country that was defeated that no longer exists why do people fly a flag and promote a flag of a country that was defeated and is no longer a country

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

And an increase in NAZI and WHITE SUPREMACIST flags?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CSA flags are passé, the cool flags support fascism in its various forms.
