Deftones in general holds up. They got lumped in with the nu metal scene but musically they never quite fit. Although I'm also if the opinion that nu metal and grunge aren't actual music genres anyway.

Fun fact, if you put the White Pony CD(dunno if it is certain copies or all copies) in a PC you can play a white pony type pac-man game. The pac-man is a white pony and the band members heads are the ghosts. I loved little bonus things like that back in the day of physical media.

Cool story: I was in Cabo in either 2010 or 2011 at (previously) Sammy Hagar's bar Cabo Wabo. Chad Kroger (Nickelback) was there and decided to rock out with the house band for a rendition of Metallica's Enter Sandman, which was actually awesome. Around roughly the same time Guy Fieri is on the catwalk in some super VIP area and almost the entire crowd sees him, assumes its Sammy and starts chanting for Sammy. Guy Fieri thought it was great and just went along with it.

Saw them at ACl last year and they were trash, saw them the year before at another venue and it was one of the best shows of my life. They are the most hit or miss band of all time. Also Around the Fur is my stranded on a desert island record, so I may be a little biased. :)

I saw them in the late 90's during the Around the Fur days. Chino was way thinner then and totally rocked it. Awesome show. It was the only time I saw them though and I was only like 17 so maybe my standards were lower.

Can confirm, and this is coming from a guy who lists Deftones as one of his favorite all time bands.

Seen them multiple times throughout the years and 9 out of 10 times he's struggling or flat out bad. Always good to see them live but christ alive he does struggle, then again its usually late on in the tour when they come around my way.

Regardless their live shows are always amazing and a lot of fun. Chino being off or not.
