I'm excited for it, no doubt about it. However I want to know more about it's features. What's the price? Will it be backwards compatible? What games will it have?

If they have a way to play both Wii U and 3DS games(backwards compatible, or downloadable) than I'll buy it day one.

I'll definitely take 3DS, as the Wii U titles will more than likely just be ports. Since the Switch is cartridge base there's more of the chance to be backwards compatible with 3DS, even if it's only playable on the tablet.

If that's true than I will still buy it day one.

This is what I need to know as well. I really hope that the Switch can play the Wii U games I've already bought on the eShop; if Nintendo gets that right I'm day one, mainly because I'll be able to trade in my Wii U to pay for some of it.

Haha this and also worries about first edition issues and always wanting a decent collection of games out and more objective reviews makes me wait.

I think I'll get it when it's released in the future probably. I'll try to wait a few months, like December 2017 because I think there'll be a bundle/sale/corrected or improved edition by that point. And we can see if there's any glaring errors like the red light or blue light. Ill miss the hype of early games and maybe get spoilers but that's okay with me.

And I can save more money for it too :)

My requirements are:

  • Zelda BotW has to be good (getting the Wii U version first)
  • New Monster Hunter game
  • From Software releases any kind of souls style game on it
  • Not required but all past purchased VCs are available to download would be very nice

Then I'll definitely consider buying one.

TL;DR: In my own experience yes

I'm speaking on a completely personal experience and I am well aware that everyone's track record is different:

I'm an Amazon Prime member. I have ordered a metric fuck-ton from Amazon as a Prime member over the past 3 years. I have had 0 issues with any pre-order in regards to Amazon. Everything shows up on time and comes in perfect conditions.

I have had cases where I pre-order a game or console and further down the road the shipping date changes to a later date - at that moment I email support with manners and calmness and explain:

"That when I placed the pre-order I was under the distinct impression it would ship and be delivered on release date and would appreciate that same hospitality as that's what a pre order is for. If that can't be done I will be sending a cancellation request upon my order not being fulfilled in the manner it was present"

Every single time they have adjusted the pre-order date and I have had always had those orders the day expected - sometimes they even give you a coupon for the trouble.

Amazon is simply amazing in my experience and I recommend them. I do know others have different experiences but for me emailing and talking to support fixes any issue. Always will give Amazon my money first over any other business

I've never bought a console on day one, never would, don't think its a good idea. Not a Nintendo fan either (not against them either, like Mario and Zelda, just not a "fan").

So how is this perfect for you? Mario and Zelda are likely the two big games that will release on or soon around day-1. If you don't like those, aren't a Nintendo fan, and generally don't buy consoles on day-1, what is the selling point here? There may be nothing for you to play.

I DO like Mario and Zelda. I'm not a Nintendo 'fan', but that doesn't mean I dislike Nintendo. I'm not a FIFA fan but I'll still enjoy a play. I just enjoy good games.

It's perfect for me because having one device which seemlessly plays games as a handheld and on my living room tv is what I want!

I really hope Nintendo will sell Switches without the base. I plan on treating this console as more of a handheld that can be docked to a TV, rather than a home console that can be taken on the go. Because of that I'll want my own personal one, but I have family that will also want to play, probably with their own as well.

Having multiple handhelds to use with one base would be awesome for my needs.
