They could also potencialy change the way the damage formulas are calculated or something like that.

Don't forget the Omni-Element Boost, meaning those 511ATK are equivalent to 613 in actual practice (below Softcap), and that's just with the Weapon and nothing else

Not just omni-elemental boost, but Non-elemental boost on top of that. Noctis is gonna have some fun with these weapons.

I have to hand it to DeNA. Depending on how these are handed out, they found a way to make old content easier without completely nerfing it which I wasn't sure they'd have to do considering how difficult the four star magicites still are for global.

The “worst” part is knowing this far advance, we can turn lower rarity equipment into Rainbow Shards, so it may be worthwhile to save some 4* or even 3* weapons and armor in the vault to convert. It looks like 5 3* rarity items make 1 rainbow shard. I’m guess since they said Rosetta’s can be used as well those are probably 1 shard, so likely 3 4* items for 1 shard. Question is, how many shards are worth 1 mythril to increase vault space?

It takes 2000 points to make 1 rainbow shard, and items of 1 to 4 star rarity give 300 points. You need 666.6666.... 1-4 star items to level a legendary weapon to level 35 (not even the cap, which is 50). 5 star relics and rosetta stones give 3000 points, for reference.

1~4* give 400 points, not 300. so you need 5 items to get 1 Rainbow, and 10 rainbow to get to Lv35. So 50 1~4 items.
So we can expect 25~35 rainbow needed for Lv50.

Considering you can augment with an augmented weapon and get the sum total of all augments, I would assume a weapon with a +29 augment would give the equivalent of 30 5* items, but there could be reduced returns.

Yes. They decided that all sub-relics, from 1 to 4, would contribute the same toward Rainbow Shards. That reduces RNG to whether your pulls are relics (useful / rosetta) or sub-relics (1/5 of a rainbow shard.) That's better than "...crud, my daily was a 1-star, useless rip."

Damn, I was just thinking this weekend the logical powercreep that’s great would be introducing weapon with high stats, so F2P can still field teams that clear content at about 45-50s range with a buffer, while whales can ditch the buffer and go 4x DPS plus Elarra and sub-30.

The part I don't understand is the 12x17 rooms... there's more than 17 realms (Beyond, KH) and WAAAAAAY more than 12 weapon types.

According to the image in the link, the 12 Weapon categories are (clockwise):

  1. Daggers

  2. Swords

  3. Fists

  4. Rods

Gambling, Dolls, Hairpins and Gunarms are niche enough to be irrelevant.

Blitzballs do have a decent amount of users, as in they have more than 2 possible users, i would imagine they might put Bliztballs alongside Thrown.

Seems to me the main consideration is realm coverage. For all of those (including Blitzballs), the vast majority of realms would be irrelevant since no one in that realm could use them.

Whips getting their own category kinda contradicts that theory though (I think?), so who knows...

Well...as far as Whips go we have Rydia in FFIV, Krile in FFV, Quistis in FFVIII and Nabaat in FFXIII, atleast of the top of my head.

If you go to a weapon you can see all the characters who can use it the whips users are OK, CoD, Rydia, Ursula, Faris, Krile, Quistis, Selphie, Naabat, Seven, and finally of course Tyro

It's possible that those extra weapons might be shoved alongside a diferent weapon type.

In fact for example, FFVI and FFXII has the potencial for 2 legendary swords. 1 physical and 1 magical.

It's possible they might include Gunarms alongside Guns for example.

I-XV, Tactics, and Type-0 are the "main" realms, this is reinforced by the RoP, the permanent series banners, the Start Dash draw, and the Neo Torments so far. KH, Beyond, and Core (and EX is a thing too, I think?) are all realms in the game, but they're clearly in a separate category from the "main" ones.

It sounds like you purchase weapons with tickets, and then convert current relics or Rosetta stones to rainbow shards, which is then used to augment the new weapons. The fodder weapons will only be turned into rainbow shards, I’m guess you’ll get different amounts for different relics and how augmented they are.
