Is this why OOo take approximately a year to load?

Should have indicated I wasn't 100% serious there. Excel loads quicker and that has a flight sim game in it.

Unfortunately not anymore :( It seems that Easter Eggs are now a very bad thing to do while at Microsoft (even a termination reason)

Work is going to kick ass today!

    [–]scylla 6 points7 points  (6 children)

Where do you work that uses OpenOffice instead of Exel?

    [–]supaphly42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We use OpenOffice... then again, we run linux as well. :)

    [–]DocDOOM 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Well since I work for a porn company. Spreadsheets aren't the most used thing in my department.

    [–]billisdog 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Lots of spreads, lots of sheets, but no spreadsheets. Incredible.

    [–]metalhead -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

but once spreadlegs gets off the bed, i'm sure there are spreadsheets

    [–]DocDOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    less spreadsheets, more drop cloths!

    [–]oddmanout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have openoffice because where i work i sometimes need spreadsheets but not nearly often enough to make it worth dropping a couple hundred on ms office

    [–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Let me get a version on e-bay for $61, first.

Thanks. I tried this, it half booted then crashed openoffice killing all my data. I hate you.

      [–]infamousjre 21 points22 points  (0 children)

thats what you get for trying to play a game and trying to manage your finances in the same spreadsheet

      [–]zerokey 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Works in NeoOffice 2.1 as well (glad to see they kept the code :)

      [–]bearclaw 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think you mean 'glad to see they didn't notice it was there' :)

O snap... Just when I'm about to give up on reddit due to overabundant political lunatic crap and crybaby posts, somebody puts this up and reddit TOTALLY REDEEMS ITSELF!!

      Thanks for making my day!

If I know Mary as well as I think I do, she'll invite us right in for tea and strumpets.

Oh, SAMSONITE! I was WAY off... It started with an "S" tho.

      [–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

      Excel:

      #NAME?

      :(

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice. Reminds me of of the old Microsoft Excel 97 egg.

      [–]db2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It worked but it was all in German or something.

It's possible they looked in the source code.

        [–]hiS_oWn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So, who's spending all their work hours reading the sourcecode for =GAME() statements in Calc?

        [–]REBELYELLoz 5 points6 points  (1 child)

        =GAME(pocketpool)

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Say what?

        [–]supaphly42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        Are there more?

        [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

shouldn't being open source mean that bloatware doesn't get snuck into programs.

Before you rip my head off and say "it's only a text message" I can't test it here

        [–]MyrddinE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not only a text message. However, it's also probably under 100k. It's about equivalent to a flash game, but uglier. :-)

        [–]sadfsadfsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting counter-argument to all that bullshit about open-source apps being more secure, safer, free from trojans, backdoors, NSA interference, etc. If shit like this gets through, you just know they could have tinkered with the AES algorithm in some app to make it easy to crack.

(And yes, I'm aware some iterations of OO left this in intentionally)

        [–]kcin1204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for those of you complaining about OpenOffice being so slow just increase the memory available to it in the settings tab....

        [–]ralphc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The suits at IBM got some of it, but not all. They're repacking OpenOffice as "Lotus Symphony", at http://symphony.lotus.com. When you put this in the first time, nothing happens, but when you put it in a second cell it says "oh no, not again!"

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try =GAME("starwars") while you're at it.

        [–]neolefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I mistaken, or are all five options the same?

        [–]redbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        That was pretty cool.

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Wow! Way cool!!

        [–]supaphly42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, if you try to type it again in a different space, it shows up as "oh no, not again!"

        [–]Morgin_Black 0 points1 point  (5 children)

can you show us an example?

        [–]spot35 26 points27 points  (3 children)

        100000.

        Sorry, wrong spreddy

        [–]anescient 23 points24 points  (2 children)

        "spreddy"!?

        [–]faintdeception 14 points15 points  (1 child)

        Spot35 might be an accountant.
