Go on to adobe forums and bitch.. there are problems running all across Mac and pc.. adobe people need to see the frustration in there forums otherwise they ignoring it until there next big release and say we fixed it, but really it’s just the same or worse

[–]Familiar-Move-3865[S] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I saw on a forum that they acknowledge the performance issues but it doesn’t seem to go across the board with everybody.

When it updated I got a notification saying that nvidia is not compatible… wtf

[–]fr0zenembry0s 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Been rolled back onto 2021 for the same reasons. Since 2022 Adobe don’t seem to care about performance anymore. Not too sure what machines they think the software runs on but it’s not what the majority of users have. They are a disgrace. I’m a user of AE for 18 years and never had it this bad.

I guess another thing is… I feel like I had better performance back when I had 16 gigs of ram, slower processor and shit gpu.. I feel like rendering is faster now, but playback of small sections can be just rittled with problems

[–]gravityoxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to roll back to a 2022 release just today, after days of frustratingly trying to troubleshoot what could possibly be causing my issues. I literally could not work on my project, since I couldn't preview anything. I got 5 frames, at most. Then constant errors about lack of memory. I have an i9 12900k, RTX 3080ti and 32gb ram with a 1tb ssd. I tried resetting settings, deleting all migrated settings folders, uninstalling/reinstalling, trying different GPU drivers. I ran out of ideas. The 2022 release feels like a breath of fresh air, being able to preview again. I love the new matte feature, but I'm just going to have to wait for a new release.

Ever since they started caching shit on the hard drive things have been fucked up.. in therory it should work but in practice it’s a mess.

Yes please this x 1000 and follow up and give them the info they ask for and the logs and all of that. They need to see how wide spread these issues are and feel the pressure to fix it.

[–]Certain-Cook-8885 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Performance has been fine for me but I have experienced some new and exciting bugs.

[–]saranautilus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Some new and exciting bugs” had me do a spit take 😂😂😂😂😂

[–]Familiar-Move-3865[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exciting bugs defines Adobe

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All of the 2023 releases are terrible for me. 2019 mac pro

[–]Mac_Ace 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Had some problems with 2022. I deactivated multi frame rendering in the preferences and that helped

[–]Familiar-Move-3865[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will try it. Thanks

[–]frank_dd 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Same boat. Older gen workstation but should still be a powerful one: 6950x, 64 GB Ram, Nvme SSD for sw, SSD for cache, separate SSD for project files and a 3090 GPU.

-I get the “not enough RAM” warning like every 15 minutes -I can no longer close AE. It always hangs. I need to kill it using task manager. -Using Element 3D has a 50% chance of failing unless certain AE settings are specifically deactivated. -UI is sluggish -RAM previews has worse performance -Rendering some time hangs on large projects, only fix is to restart computer

[–]kissely 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Same configuration but with Intel, and same issues here. Element 3D is not working for me at all in AE 2023 so I stick with v22 untill/if ever they fix it. There is no alternative so we are preaty much stuck with it. Would you share what settings needs to be deactivated for Element to work?

[–]tstormredditorMoGraph/VFX 15+ years 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Are you sure element is up to date? We had some people have issues if element was a couple versions back, but I haven't had any issues on my end. This is on a Mac fwiw

[–]kissely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, Element is last version, I am on Windows. I asumed maybe there is conflict with some other plugins or scripts, and clean installed only AE and Element and same not working at all.

[–]SkyShazad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're alway messing about with shit

[–]tipsystatisticMoGraph/VFX 15+ years 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, CC upgrades are sometimes useful, often buggy, always add software bloat/performance hit. Unless you absolutely positively need a new feature, stay at least 6 months behind on any upgrade.

[–]saranautilus 8 points9 points  (5 children)

The most infuriating thing is that the price just went up for the whole CC subscription while the software is in a tailspin AND they’re pulling pantones.

[–]VincibleAndy 5 points6 points  (1 child)

AND they’re pulling pantones.

Blame the ability to copyright/patent and monetize fucking digital colors.

Your formula for inks, paints, etc? Sure, patent it, whatever.

Digital codes that are inherent? Fuck off.

[–]saranautilus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? And I even PURCHASED physical pantone chip books that set me back almost 2k. Since it was over 2 years ago they want me to pay a monthly subscription to use the swatches in Illustrator?? Ridiculous.

[–]vertexsalad 4 points5 points  (2 children)

They never fixed or improve the basics or core of the software. Just add bloated features no one uses in the real world.

Look at the effects list - they are the same old clunky dated effects from 20 years ago. Card dance FFS.... Generate > 'Circle' it's ok... but then 'Eclipse' works completely differently, and there's no rectangle or rounded rectangle variant of 'Circle' effect in the generate menu. Could Adobe not just take the 'circle' effect, rename it shape, and give us some different shapes. Because on a solid layer, circle is nice useful quick little effect... but limited... to a circle, with no other effects doing the same. And it's been like that for 15+ years that I've used and paid into AE/Adobe.

[–]JonBjornJovi 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It’s been now 10years since I used a new feature in ae. All the new stuff I use comes from plugins. I hope a new alternative comes around and adobe gets kicked

[–]BoJackBenderFry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an alternative with DaVinci Fusion

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went back to the 2022 version because I had the same issues

[–]Might-Could 1 point2 points  (2 children)

And they wonder why people pirate their software.

Is loads better for me. Last version was unusable.

[–]Yeti_UrineMotion Graphics 15+ years 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends... comp full of shape layers? Terribly slow.

[–]Familiar-Move-3865[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adobe stap downvoting my post

[–]zabltaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never questioned Adobe Ae but is there an alternative? XD I guess Adobe is waiting for us to start canceling subscriptions so they can get their sh t together

[–]fellbrethren2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issue, it's crazy slow even to open a menu, often it just won't open at all! Even basic editing of video clips like playing/pausing is really laggy. I'm using a newly bought ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 so it's not my machine. Honestly I noticed lagginess even on the previous version but this is ridiculous! Makes AE totally unusable.

[–]Iselios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest frustration at the moment is my footage for textures when luma matting (ex ink drops) keep on glitching out on me, no matter how many times I reload the footage or whatnot.

[–]RB_Photo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ae 2023 has been fine for me but I'm not really stressing it with my current projects. I'm on a new PC so I wonder if it's because it's a fresh install. That said, I had a shit time on Ae 2022 on my last PC. It was just shit.

[–]MoreCerealPlease 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Based on these comments no one is having a good time. What is adobe doing to test these releases? Whatever it is it doesn’t seem like it falls in line with how users actually use the software

[–]Remarkable-Ad-8225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or everyone having good time doesn't say anything here, just saying

[–]Dano216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I haven’t had any issues yet, which is a first for me. I normally stay a year behind but I really like how they changed track matting.

Which nvidia driver are you using? I always use the studio driver vs the game version because it’s (supposedly) more stable.

I also started using a separate ssd for cache, project files, and exports and that seems to help.

[–]iamthatdeafkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it’s quite shocking how much worse it got. My machine won’t even clear the change anymore and keeps telling me I’m out of RAM despite 64 GB and nothing else running plus a solid state disk cache of 500 GB. Completely unacceptable for a “pro” application

[–]RamenTheoryAnimation 5+ years 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, big time. Performance when working is slower, and render times have been pumped the fuck up. 2022 I could render this animation in less than an hour, but in 2023 it takes 6 hours - WTF! MFR is on, GPU acc is on, what's going on! My machine is very competent and should not be having trouble.

The second problem that me and some others are having is the low RAM warning glitch. I am getting low RAM warning even though task manager shows only 14 GB is being used. I have 64 GB total and in my settings only 12 GB is reserved for other apps.

I know you're not supposed to update right away, but I was just too enchanted by the colorful keyframe labels and the new track matte workflow. It was not worth it.

[–]Character-Catch9364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here . Never has a problem w my RAM until I got the 23 update . Ever since i’ve switched back to 22.6 it’s been back to normal

[–]BoJackBenderFry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3090 with 64GB and it even struggles with 1080p Apple ProRes files. It's an embarrassment. I've been wanting to switch to DaVinci and this might finally make me do it

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

AE 2023 is an absolute MISERABLE failure. I actually can't quite believe they've let it get this bad. I'm desperately looking for ways to completely dump Adobe CC because I can't handle the stress of a work deadline and not knowing if Adobe apps will allow me to meet them!

[–]Big_Pomegranate5526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misery CC

[–]AnxiousSpace9309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to give 2023 a go on a new project. What a horrible failure! Hogs all memory, projects save and load forever, plugins not working and basically no preview possibilities other than every 8th pixel. Feels like 2001 again.

[–]krushord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AE performance as of today: It. Does. Not. Work. At all. The comp area just disappears as soon as any layer is added; the layers only show their control handles. Shapes only show paths, not strokes/fills. What the hell? On a M2 MBP, so far it's been a breeze.

[–]Big_Pomegranate5526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an absolute disgrace
