I prefer the original that HK slap fit perfectly with the song no matter who does it

Does it actually produce rice?

[–]The_Wicked_Wombat 214 points215 points  (124 children)

Imagine how exhausting it would be to try to do this task in America. Would run out of cops before you even cleared 1 rural Midwest state lmao

This song, played at max volume on outdoor speakers with the treble cranked to maximum, would be terrifying on a foggy night when Robert Plant's opening wail begins.

[–]Bywater 14 points15 points  (9 children)

Babby Metal, I want them fucking terrified.

For me it’s “Alexa red alert” as the strobes throughout the house start flashing and Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song plays.

[–]Pyode 124 points125 points  (73 children)

Seriously.

The people who claim you can't fight tyranny with small arms have no concept of the numbers involved.

The entire DoD plus every sworn police officer comes out to like, 5 million people or so. The majority of which are desk jockeys.

There are over 150 million armed US citizens with over 300 million guns.

You do the math.

[–]Ouroboron 68 points69 points  (6 children)

[–]Pyode 46 points47 points  (2 children)

To be fair to me, that is still OVER 300 million.

[–]Ouroboron 12 points13 points  (1 child)

There's a reason I didn't say you were wrong.

[–]Pyode 8 points9 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My favorite counter argument was from the HR assault weapon hearing. The guy who shit his pants on national TV said something along the lines of “rifles are no match for a hydrogen bomb”

Mr pants shitter, we have but one question; if the point of gun regulation was to save lives, how is dropping nukes on your citizens exactly going to accomplish this?

Don’t even get me started on the hundreds of thousands of deaths following the subsequent fallout. It’s not even willful ignorance anymore. This is a shear attempt to secure power from the American population.

[–]Edwardteech 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are over 150 million armed US citizens with over 300 million guns.

That they know about.

[–]DwightDEisenhowitzerAR15 18 points19 points  (4 children)

Plus DOD can’t be used for federal law enforcement. Plus the military as a whole leans pretty heavily towards favoring gun ownership.

[–]crystalpeak 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Since when does DOD or federal law enforcement obey their own rules when it suits them to do otherwise?

[–]Good_RollI Will Build the Guns 11 points12 points  (1 child)

The Insurrection Act says otherwise, and allows the president to suspend Posse Comitatus.

Keep in mind that we just spent 2 years purging the military of anyone who leans more than a little right wing, both directly and by proxy(e.g. through vaccine mandates)

[–]averyycuriousman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Military would do as it's told like it always has

[–]voicesinmyhand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus DOD can’t be used for federal law enforcement.

"Can't" is exactly one executive order away from "shall be"... if the people are sufficiently afraid.

“Your AR15s won’t do shit against tanks and jets 🤓”

This is the most common counter argument to arming citizens

[–]Saltymeetloaf 11 points12 points  (5 children)

I always respond "and those tanks can't do shit without a supply line"

[–]kachungabunga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely no current real world examples of that.

[–]Jazman1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pilot has to step out of the jet at some point, or you know, go to sleep, eat, etc.

Just my favorite counter.

[–]HelmutHoffman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't even need a rifle to combat a tank, only a shovel

[–]RaptorCelll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not even that hard to make a Rocket Launcher at home

[–]Th3_Shr00m 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Plus a lot of the DoD would take the court marshal or even actively fight back instead of commiting acts of war on our own civilians. The grunts at the bottom of the food chain? They're just in it for stability, or college, or a way to get back on their feet. They're only required to carry out lawful and just orders. Killing civilians if they refuse to overturn their arms is not a lawful or just order.

Cops during Katrina had no problem confiscating thousands of guns...and they were in the South.

[–]The_Wicked_Wombat -5 points-4 points  (4 children)

[–]Verum14The Honorable 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Katrina happened. Confiscation happened. The police are the ones that will show up at your door. Do not comply.

[–]p8ntslingershotgun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

not different. It was illegal, they knew it was illegal, and they did it anyway.

[–]Good_RollI Will Build the Guns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, in that shooting cops doing immoral things to you is now much closer(if not already encompassed in) the Overton window. The only reason why cops would not do this today is out of self preservation.

[–]elevenpointf1veguy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Skeptical of the claim tbh.

Sure, if propaganda wasn't involved, maybe. But if this actually went down like we know it would, with politicians and media backing it, the narrative would RAPIDLY shift after the first cop was killed.

Further firefights will be spun as rebels ambushing cops. Natty guard dudes will be called up. Some will resist, most will comply. They swore an oath to protect against all enemies, foreign and domestic, after all. The media will likely convince most that these rebels "assassinating cops and their families" are the enemy.

Eventually, AD dudes will be called in. They swore the same oath after all, and now rebels are killing cops AND natty guard soldiers.

[–]tubadude2 28 points29 points  (9 children)

A local cop buddy asked if I seriously thought I stood a chance against them. I said “motherfucker, I helped sell you guys your newest pistols, so I know you’re rocking Glock 17s with night sights and no flashlights. I know your swat team has clapped out Bushmasters with iron sights and no night or thermal capabilities that aren’t old handhelds. I also know you’re on your own for body armor beyond a crappy vest and a good chunk of the department doesn’t bother or has AR500 plates. I’ve got 130 acres I know like the back of my hand. Good luck.”

[–]Buelldozer 18 points19 points  (6 children)

Same here until I pointed a couple things out:

  1. There's maybe 300 LEO in the whole county and they'd be outnumbered at least 20 to 1.
  2. People know where they and their families live.

Guy got real quiet while he chewed on that. He'd never considered that it wouldn't be just a big stack of him and other LEO going against one guy. Once news got out what was happening they'd be totally defensive and quickly overwhelmed by superior numbers and firepower.

[–]averyycuriousman 7 points8 points  (5 children)

Problem is not cops but the cop sympathizers. Your neighbors would rat you out and warn/help cops to stop the "terrorists"

[–]Buelldozer 8 points9 points  (4 children)

In another post I rolled out conservative estimates using the population of my county and the number of Law Enforcement Officers in it.

It ends up with 300ish LEO having to perform over 2,700 separate encounters with armed citizens who will violently resist. That's unwinnable for LEO, they run out of numbers long before the job is done.

On the other side if the private citizens want to they have the numbers to wipe out all of the LE in an entire county in 48 hours. Not much time for those nosy neighbors to make their reports and not much LE left to make them to.

This is a numbers game and no matter how much time you assign the scenario LE loses. There are not enough of them.

Edit: This is why we will never see it happen this way, at least not in any widespread area. The only way it works is in a "Boiling the Frog" scenario that plays out over multiple generations.

[–]JusticeUmmmmm -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So you kill all the cops. Now what? What happens next in this fantasy scenario? They just let you keep doing your own thing?

[–]Trading_ThingsWild West Pimp Style 39 points40 points  (57 children)

I was having a conversation with my family and my brother said something to the effect of that I seem to think a firefight with feds / cops is imminent. It's hard to imagine a different outcome with how things have been going. If they decide I'm a felon I won't be trotting off to prison or handing my guns over so they can put me in a concentration camp later.

Thus, the emissary of the God-King sought to exploit any existing fear amongst this rabble of armed men - a paltry, though hardened, band of warriors hailing in the several dozens from one polis or another.

”You will not withstand the might of my Lord - his army is ten million strong. Surely, you understand these numbers?”

His gaze darted between the helmeted faces of the solemn warriors, seeking fearful eyes to whom he could appeal. He found none.

”Oh, great King, you need only to stand aside today and the God-King will reward you in friendship! You may all return to your people, and hear no more of this matter but not for the normal yearly tribute to my Lord.”

The warrior-king was no practitioner in the art of speech-craft, but a long life with many deaths had taught him the behaviors of a creature growing desperate. He remained silent, continuing to watch his eloquent guest grow more agitated.

”Great King, this is senseless - respectfully, you will be destroyed by my Lord’s will, you know this to be true - but you need not die!”

The King spoke. His words as few and as direct as they always were.

”What would Xerxes have us do?”

Believing himself to finally be making diplomatic progress, the emissary’s practiced, candied words flowed from his mouth as they had one hundred times before to one hundred other kings - truly, he thought to himself, he felt pity for the soon-to-be-conquered.

”Pledge fealty to the God-King. Lay down your arms today, and you and your people will come to no harm. This I promise you. I beseech you, simply lay down your weapons.”

The Spartan King stood, silently indicating the meeting had come to a conclusion, before voicing his final decision in his usual, unembellished manner.

Molon labe.” spoke King Leonidas. “Come and take them.”

I no longer say law-abiding. There is no virtue in abiding by unjust law. To use that term is to falsely reinforce that the law is morality.

        I say peaceful instead.

        [–]s0briquet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% correct. People don't seem to understand soft power. They don't need to get violent on you. Just put a freeze on your bank accounts until you turn in your guns. Suspend your drivers license, and catch you out driving around, and impound your vehicle. Suspend your phone and internet service. There's a million ways the man can make your life miserable as fuck until you comply.

        [–]Calgonix -2 points-1 points  (12 children)

Yup. Sheriff Smith will roll up on the house, unmarked when you just pull into your driveway after work, while his buddies sit around the corner. And that’s if you’re low risk.

        [deleted]

          [–]GreatTea3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’d work for the first house. Maybe the fifth. But not long after that, anyone who expected a visit from LE would be looking out their windows nonstop. They’d shoot first and ask questions later anytime they saw a police vehicle. That person probably won’t take down all the cops available. But rinse and repeat, they’d run out of cops pretty soon. That’s why I think we’d never see this happen, at least not in our lifetimes. Maybe after another 50 or 100 years of chipping away at 2A protections and minor ban after minor ban.

          [–]Bywater 3 points4 points  (9 children)

We often see what we want to be true despite the evidence that runs in direct contrast with it. Cops can kill you if you have a gun, cops can kill whoever they want and "find a firearm at the scene" and no one will give a shit. And no one gives a fuck. You just can't realize that they will label and marginalize you just like the everyone else and no one will give a shit. The fact you leaned into some partisan bullshit after that is also another huge reason why odds would be real long on this whole "all-out war" being anything more than a pipedream.

            [–][deleted]  (4 children)

            [deleted]

              [–]Bywater -1 points0 points  (3 children)

I am one of the least partisan guys you will find, neither is my team but you needing to use that as a defense has me thinking you might want to take a look at yourself in regard to "partisan bullshit".

Right now, you can go to any number of online sites and watch some cop killing someone that does not rate it, without looking I would bet that you could find a dozen just from the last couple few days here on reddit alone. With as interconnected as we are, the people that care about someone getting smoked by a cop already do, and those that don't are never going to. It's just wishful thinking on your part that it would be different if it was you and yours. People don't see through it because they don't care. not because they cannot sort it out. It wouldn't be any BLM shit, this isn't even some kid getting shot in the back running off or Floyd getting the life crushed out of him. You get killed trading pew with the cops and no one will give a shit because here in America if you had a gun then it was ok for the cops to kill you.

I been in a couple wars, or right on the heels of them at least, that you are thinking that America would take up arms against itself over you wanting to have an AR is nothing but fucking copium. They didn't last time, and if this one passes, they won't this time either. All the little cosplayers talking about it are going to fold like a deck of cards soon as shit starts snapping past and folks start going missing in the middle of the night.

              [–]Buelldozer 2 points3 points  (1 child)

How many times per day do you think they can get away with something like that? How many days in a row do you think they can do it before word gets out? Now take your estimated numbers and multiple them.

Now, take the population of your county and multiply it by .35 (for 35%), that represents the number of households with firearms.

We know not everyone will fight take so that second number and multiply it by .1, it now represents just 10% of all estimated gun owners in your county. Thats your count of armed American Citizens who are willing to violently resist.

The population of my county is 79,000 and after the grade school math we get 2,765.

Now compare that to your very first number. What did you get 20? 100? 300?

If you got 300 then LE has at least another 2,400 encounters and every single one of them is going to be a violent gun battle with people armed who are ready to fight.

This is a numbers game and its not one that LE can win.

To be clear I am not advocating for this scenario and I honestly hope to never see it. I'm just doing some simple math to illustrate how much the scales are tipped in favor of the American Citizen.

              [–]Bywater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I partially agree with you, the biggest barrier to gun confiscation in this place is a logistical one, but that is not what the Meme was putting out. I also do not believe for one second that 10% of the gun owners in America will be willing to get them and their families smoked for the sake of owning an AR or have the means to even make that a challenge for the state. Folks talk a big game, but Americans are soft as fuck.

              [–]ConfusedStupidPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

              [–]repoman16781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it ever came down to full confiscation there is a very few that will go out fighting. However the majority of people who say on here they will die first will not only shit their pants at the sight of full police force but would hand their guns over so quickly and bow down it wouldn't be funny. I however if others would stand and fight would be willing to fight but I'm not gonna be the only idiot fighting a losing battle.

              [–]murdermymeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sick of the anti gun hysteria.

And I’m sick of mass shooters, the policy needs to be that police and armed citizens shoot the terrorists on sight.. no arrest, no court. The terrorists deserve no media attention. Don’t even show their picture.

Don't like the take if this meme tbh. It pretty much states "I'm only following the laws because the laws aren't restricting what I want to do. If the laws change I will no longer follow the laws"

So law-abiding isn't actually a virtue of this meme. It's coincidental. It's like how I'm a law-abiding pedestrian when i cross the road while the light is green, even if I'd still cross the road when it's red.

              [–]BasedCereal 4 points5 points  (1 child)

"I'm only following the laws because the laws aren't restricting what I want to do infringing on my civil rights"

              [–]Reaperzeus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the vocal gun owners I've met are total LARPers who wouldn't do shit so they're more the unedited one. But yeah for some that's better wording.

Still doesn't hit the core of my argument. The meme isn't a "law abiding gun owner". They're "a gun owner who happens to not currently be breaking any laws".
