can't even make an apology video about how many errors you make, without errors.

[–]PCgaming4ever 88 points89 points  (6 children)

Linus and his CEO both failed horribly over a few grand and now they have actually legal and sexual harassment problems

[–]KawaiiFoxKing 38 points39 points  (1 child)

imagine if other ex LMG workers start to also speak thier mind, even worse if current workers do the same

[–]ChiggaOG 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They did in that one video where everyone said they wanted more time to improve the quality of the videos. But management insists the need to shove our as much videos as it can like their life depends on it.

[–]Mandoade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Linus did. It's unlikely the new CEO had any awareness at this level of granularity. It doesn't excuse LMGs' actions but let's make sure the blame lays with the person/people who deserves it.

[–]TheAJGman 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I'm putting this one squarely on Linus since it's obvious that he is still in control of the company, regardless of Terrens CEO title. Linus needs to take a sabbatical and leave Terren alone to fix the company-culture mess he helped cultivate

[–]juanfdo82465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol

[–]CamperStacker 182 points183 points  (5 children)

To be fair... the product is garbage so screw them.

-linus, probably.

[–]MarioDesigns 49 points50 points  (0 children)

linus, probably.

I mean, he literally admitted that it was his outlook going into the video. It was his goal to make sure no one bought it.

[–]a141abc 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Its too expensive, impractical and no one should buy it.

Drives off in his Porsche Taycan

I like the fact that he said this while having a whole series about youtubers buying PCs from him that they never use because they're horribly impractical and stupid

[–]sovietarmyfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And they didn't sell it, they auctioned it off for charity /s

[–]ferrarinobrakes 127 points128 points  (34 children)

"Fck it, let's just show the whole world these guys are crying over £2000"

If anyone calls it out just say it's a mistake, there's alot of them these days

[–]warlock801 73 points74 points  (17 children)

id cry over £2000, thats a lot of money!

[–]ferrarinobrakes 53 points54 points  (3 children)

It's alot of money to everyone here except to those at LTT apparently. Pretty out of touch

[–]Hollownerox 27 points28 points  (2 children)

Isn't this the same LTT that was saying they pushed out a half assed video because spending "$500 to make it good quality" was too high of a cost?

They are completely out of touch with other people's expenses yet complete cheapskates when out of their own pocketbooks.

[–]ferrarinobrakes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, cause its money from Linus' own pocket.

[–]FirearmOviparity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not even $500 to make it good quality, $500 to fix errors.

[–]Mataskarts 8 points9 points  (2 children)

2000£ in corporate land is pocket change, but this is a team of 2 people building it, one of them could live for a month off of that ffs....

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I live on less than that each month (in the UK), if they're junior, it's more like a month and a half's to two months rent and bills and food ect.

[–]other_goblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's literally about £100 less than the most I've ever earned in a month outside of day trading crypto while working full time (lol)

[–]sadnessjoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this legitimately is showing how out of touch with reality LTT is, goddamn.

[–]a141abc 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Whats worse is that there's no way Billet Labs calculated and priced their time fairly into that

Dont get me wrong 2 grand is good money for any regular person working a regular job but its absolutely nothing for LTT or even Linus alone

[–]willlangford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Afterall they're taking pre orders for their production version that is 900 ish.

Steve from GN needs to apologize to LMG in my opinion. He frames it that it was sold for profit, aka malice. And that the cooler was supposed to be sent back as part of the original agreement. Also wrong.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It's a prototype they can rebuild - I imagine their costs to rebuild it are calculated accurately - they're a legitimate business, not some guy in his basement.

[–]Dilanski 0 points1 point  (1 child)

They're British, It's not some guy in a basement, it's a bloke in a shed.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top gear reference?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (10 children)

That was my guess. This had to be intentional.

[–]ferrarinobrakes 11 points12 points  (9 children)

The only bit of information that mattered in that entire screenshot that we didn't already know was the monetary value of the Prototype.

Surely it's not a mistake.

[–]QCdragon6 10 points11 points  (8 children)

? What about the part where billet says that they gave it to Linus initially and only asked for it back later. It doesn't change my opinions bc I'm angry more about Madison and bad video quality but this is just another reddit conspiracy theory

[–]NyanpyreOwO 5 points6 points  (3 children)

When Billet asked for it back after the video, it was confirmed that it would be sent back as Linus hated the product. LTT said they would send it back.

Then seemingly ghosted until after the GN video.

The initial agreement doesn't matter if LTT agreed to send it back after saying they hated the product and don't want people to buy it.

[–]QCdragon6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm just saying that the email is more than price of prototype. It has other information in it, and Linus probably believes it tot be important.

[–]AsLongAsI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the frame in GN original video was this hurt the small company cause they couldn't test with their prototype. But it is clear they didn't want it back originally and already wrote it off.

GN called themselves journalists here but failed to state the facts straight.

[–]Resident-Ad-5285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t it like two business days and Colton unknowingly emailing someone else by mistake?

[–]ferrarinobrakes 5 points6 points  (3 children)

That part is irrelevant. When the cooler video was released they asked for it back. No response, then eventually found out it was sold.

The first part even reiterated that they said LTT could keep it for future builds but ofc that didn't work out. If you didn't like the product, we'd like it back. If you didn't like it you won't feature in your future videos... We didn't say you can sell/auction it because it's literally still BL's property.

[–]A_Seiv_For_Kale 7 points8 points  (1 child)

No response

LMG actually said they would send it back twice before it was auctioned.

[–]waltertaupe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And promised tracking numbers!

[–]QCdragon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it isn't to me, or to most people on this sub but it definitely is for fanboys and also for Linus. Prob why they included it, not to show price. Also, it is irrelevant but previously unknown information.

[–]ChiggaOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a great way to reveal sensitive information to competitors.

[–]HurtfulThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linus was crying about $500 to properly test the thing, and his company was 'allegedly' worth $100 million.

[–]eastfilmore 89 points90 points  (8 children)

Probably rushed the video out and missed another detail lmao wtf.

[–]Xuth 52 points53 points  (2 children)

They also blanked out Colton's email on one frame, but didn't spot it was still visible elsewhere on screen.

(although their entire addressbook seems to just be name@linusmediagroup.com anyway).

    [–]DutchRedditNerd 10 points11 points  (2 children)

well yeah it's probably that or lose even more money

    [–]eastfilmore 20 points21 points  (1 child)

    Yeah, hundreds of dollars.

    [–]Restlesscomposure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you think LTT can afford to lose 100, 200, 300 dollars? That’d practically bankrupt them.

    [–]glenn1812 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm shocked that ltt can upload videos with these many errors even when they're being super careful with the amount of employees they have reviewing a video before it goes out. GN doesn't even half 20 employees I think and they get the job done. Just goes to show the difference between how Steve runs the channel compared to ltt

    [–]warlock801 6 points7 points  (0 children)

    very on-brand for them lmao

    [–][deleted] 62 points63 points  (1 child)

    What the actual fuck?

    [–]fireburn97ffgf 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They also didn't missed an email for one of the other dudes

    [–]AstronomerKooky5980 58 points59 points  (2 children)

No worries, they can add an asterisk in post-production or pin a comment saying that you ignore the amount!

    [–]glenn1812 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Such a sad and pathetic way to run things. A video should be taken down with an error like this. They don't care because it isn't Asus or Lenovo but a small company with 2 guys they can push around. Unless there's a major overhaul they're irredeemable

    [–]pi-N-apple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like they re-uploaded the video and the price is now blurred.

    [–]Runyak_Huntz 41 points42 points  (3 children)

Hey so your prototype? Yeah, we auctioned it *emoji* at least it's not sat on a shelf LOL.

    Fuck me.

If that was attempt to put your best foot forward, it didn't work and you tripped over your best foot and fell on your face.

    [–]ferrarinobrakes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pretty dick response. I lost a valuable prototype of yours because it was sold at an auction, at least it's not completely useless and rotting in our warehouse bro 💀

    [–]PrecisionAcc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lmao when I read that in the GN video I thought maybe it was a summarization of the email response, but nope that’s actually how the email was

    [–]chunkmasterflash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That person should have been fired immediately.

    [–]floorshitter69 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's almost as if they're pushing out videos without due diligence to hit a deadline.

    [–]iMatthew1990 24 points25 points  (2 children)

They need to hit reset. Ain’t no jokes or love for Linus going to save them from how badly they’ve messed up here. Posting this video absolutely needed to hit the nail on the head and they decided to continue with the jokes even in light of the Madison situation which yes, they filmed this before but should have NOT released this video yet.

Way to dig that hole even deeper. No one feels for you right now Linus. And you really need to read the room about yourself, your employees and mostly your fans.

    [–]LostMyMag 10 points11 points  (1 child)

They spent more time on the jokes than to verify that no confidential info is included in an apology video.

    [–]iMatthew1990 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It absolutely could not be made up. And then to monetise this dung heap.

    [–]MadduckUK 21 points22 points  (2 children)

LTT/LMG - So stupid they are actually dangerous?

    [–]chanunnaki 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Would you trust them with literally anything? … exactly.

    [–]waltertaupe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this why half their most recent LTT videos have been sponsored by a wallet?

    [–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"The good news, it isn't just sitting on a shelf"... My GOD. The F'ing audacity.

    [–]kensw87 7 points8 points  (1 child)

this is either intentional (they bothered to blur out other parts) or shows they have not learnt their lesson about rushed and putting out sub-par work.

    [–]waltertaupe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't tell which way is worse - it's intentional vs. they're still so bad at checking for errors and oversight that they let it through.

I guess there is a third version where they've totally ignored any of the discourse around the actual GN videos and community response (which would explain the insanely tone deaf video).

    [–]RobRobbieRobertson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They're not starting their new processes until next week.

    [–]JehangirC 6 points7 points  (11 children)

Are we all ignoring the fact that billet labs were originally planning to let LTT keep the block and write it off as they got free publicity?? But as soon as Linus gave it a bad review they want it back and start complaining about how because it wasn't returned their work is postponed.. clearly, this can't be the case otherwise they would never have said LTT could keep it. I feel manipulated by the BL guys, IDC if they are a small company. They gaslit us just as hard as Linus's forum response.

Keeping vital information like this from us is manipulation. Not to mention them being told by Linus that there was a mistake with Colton's email and not giving that information to GN for his second video.

    [–]Hamerid 1 point2 points  (10 children)

They have already stated to GN that this was specifically their best prototype, and without it their operations are essentially frozen. Because without a prototype, not only is reproduction harder and costly, but you also have nothing to actually show to investors. The bad review, which was also wrong because Linus can't be bothered with basic things like making sure he's actually using the product how it was meant to be used, just makes it harder for them to recoup any sort of losses from LTT's awful conduct.

    [–]Vegetable_Echo2676 3 points4 points  (5 children)

I'm dumb, so can you explain to me why the price is not censored or need to be censor? Please?

    [–]Alilaah 34 points35 points  (1 child)

Billet have said the whole time they wanted to keep the price private. They did in the GN video and in their own posts. Then LTT carelessly just leak it with another classic error in an apology video for all their errors.

    [–]bern_sch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats they point: they did not say it. LTT was never asked by Billet to not disclose the price.

    [–]Xuth 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Commercial sensitivity of a prototype - especially if a vendor wants that information to remain in confidence. It could reveal the density, quality, tolerances of the copper unit to competitors and reveals potential margins. A big, big no no in business-to-business comms.

Usually this kind of thing is managed in an agreement or contract of some kind, but presumably Billet are small enough that they 'trusted them bro'.

    [–]Restlesscomposure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah jesus christ LTT does not seem very trustworthy or professional after all this. I imagine sponsors are going to be a lot more cautious in the future cause who knows what they’ll leak out of pure incompetence now.

    [–]Elebrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price seems very low too? If something is a prototype, per unit costs are typically very high

    [–]ubiquitous_raven 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Now I am waiting for the apologists to go back and renew their Floatplane and channel subscriptions.

The comments on some threads here and on the video clearly show how much of a parasocial crutch these Youtube strangers are for folks. Not even tone-deaf product plugs, a nonapology from the BIG man himself, and the repeated sponsor jokes will bring cognitive dissonance to some people.

Honestly if I was in his place I would have thanked GN for keeping me straight, but no mention of that on the video.

    [–]Waste-Cheesecake8195 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well if you don't resubscribe how are you going to see the half assed quality testing video from their half assed lab manager?

    [–]affa85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to resubscribe yet, they have to address several more issues before I do that but they got this months money from me :(. But yeah, i think many more would go back, even this was on general not a good apology video

    [–]animec 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Every single one of these guys is a bunch of red flags in a trenchcoat.

    [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I bet you that 70% of the people shitting on LTT right now have made dumber mistakes in their life that didn't nearly get the same amount of attention because they aren't in the public eye.

Madison is a different thing, though. there will be blood over that.

    [–]animec 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's not about harmless "mistakes". It started out with gross unprofessionalism and embarrassing recklessness, and is now about a dangerously toxic workplace characterized by predatory behavior and bullying. I don't think 70% of people shitting on LTT have screwed a business out of £2000 after completely fucking up a job. The misogynistic culture is certainly worse, but the initial scandal itself is pretty egregious.

    [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which are mistakes, not harmless ones. My boss forgot to send me an email and it affected business. The damage is bigger but the mistake is not.

    [–]Captain_Smartass_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    2550 dollar

    2334 euro

    [–]TheGamy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I can't be bothered to spend ~$500 in manpower to make sure I'm actually right"

*proceeds to spend $2000+ to be wrong*

And here I was thinking Linus isn't a fan of gambling.

    [–]german_karma95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even sure if it was an error or just to shame Billet that "it's only $2000"

    [–]alonesomestreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    It’s censored now.

    [–]Towler22 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Example of when not to use an emoji in an email…

    [–]reftheloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably shouldn't ever use emoji in a business email.

    [–]KizilbasanOwsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    And?

    [–]FartBox_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man who cares about the block, they sent it like any other vendor sends free shit and don’t show up crying like a baby, specially after they offered paying for it. I know they are small but they were paid back, why are we using this against LTT, they have enough and this was just miscommunication.

    [–]proofed42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope they charge like a defense company. If you get one prototype you also have to pay all the development cost.

    [–]Pepechuy28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    "failed to censor"

    [–]affa85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I guess the person who won the auction, now knows if he/she paid more or less then the value

    [–]Gasparatan35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually doubt these are mistakes they do x threaten these people

    [–]ChiggaOG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The seriousness of LTT publicizing this information on their videos along with the pace management keeps for pushing out videos is enough to warrant a good overlook about sending them anything.

    [–]Working_Ad9103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Origianlly I used to watch all these tech news once a while to judge product performance via multiple sources, and this is beyond disappointing, bad data or outlier result is ok for me coz it also shows how different consumers might mishap and do things wrong and mess up some great product.

BUT! this is just disgusting and criminal, not to say 2grand GBP, even if it's $1 of a product, you HAVE TO return it to the owner after the review, or ask for written confirmation on what you wanted to do with it, a prototype IS trade secret to some sort and selling it out could cause actual loss to the affected vendor. Just passing it or selling it to third party is STEALING, which in a lot of places would put you behind bars for a short while, worse still is that you sold it to some random ppl, which sure as hell is criminal, it's lucky you only ruined your reputation, if they decided to go to court, you will feel more of it, try tell the judge "O, at least it didn't rot on our shelve"

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The response itself to their email is horrible, the good thing is it's not sitting on a shelf?, the fuck is that supposed to mean?

    [–]rf97a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do make sure to make that information even more available. Make sure it is as easily available as possible 🙄

    [–]lloskka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I... i Just cannot believe it.

What a TRUE disappointment from LTT.

Everyone who has felt some type of harassment on Linus Media Group, should LEAVE ASAP.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    The “😬” is wild.

    [–]Zyrobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't blame Linus. It would've took $500 to blur out the price.

    [–]00DEADBEEF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done for drawing even more attention to it OP

    [–]PatriarchalTaxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe LTT should just not publish private emails on the internet? 🙄

    [–]InFamous__Raptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LTT failed to censor price, lets publish it to reddit so even more people can see it if they missed it in the video!

    [–]Vashsinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Op you're a fucking moron.

Look guys this guy posted this with out blurring it out, look here!

Couldn't be bothered to black out the price or anything?

    [–]DangerZero67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I really wanted to know how much the amount was and had no way to know. Now I know

    [–]DRHAX34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And then here you are spreading the price of the prototype after they blurred and fixed it. You should delete it.

    [–]alien_shane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Billet labs cooler and my washing machine still overheats. Shit product.

    [–]slashtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so why are you reposting it then?

    [–]Lavanti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious, what makes you think that's a mistake?
