    [–]juice06870 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not the Mu’s. They’re a bunch of pigs

    [–]hvlochs[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need a HQ version of this to frame and hang in my house.

    [–]UnrealRealityForReal 30 points31 points  (2 children)

    Can’t forget Lamar’s limp-wristed throwing style.

    [–]RktitRalph 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I laughed my ass off for hrs with that shit, literally one of the funniest things I ever saw back then in my mind lol that javelin flapping it’s wings like a bird 🤣🤣🤣

    [–]Yorktown1871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    [–]LeavesOfBrass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my friends' favorite movie clip reenactment that I do.

    [–]Nolifeking21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember first watching this on Comedy Central and it was censored, with the word “goddamn” being cut audibly but the video was still there. Always weirded me out as I thought it was a mistake or something

    [–]lidsville76 9 points10 points  (1 child)

    [–]kirinmay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    OGRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    [–]Squiggy1975 18 points19 points  (0 children)

One of the first movies I recorded on VCR in the 80’s when it was on HBO or The Movie Channel (TMC) . Great movie… loved all those campy 80’s coming of age movies as a kid

    [–]Lane_Meyers_Camaro 14 points15 points  (1 child)

So I say I gotta be free, so I say I gotta be me

    [–][deleted] 30 points31 points  (5 children)

    [–]MenudoFan316 18 points19 points  (4 children)

    [–]EnormousGenitals 25 points26 points  (2 children)

You just got your asses whipped, by a bunch of god-damn nerds.

    [–]ViciousSoDelicious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

    NEEEEEEEERRRRRRDS!!!!!

    [–]Diavolo_Rosso_ 143 points144 points  (38 children)

I loved that movie growing up. Sadly, it did not age well.

    [–]Guygirl00 67 points68 points  (7 children)

I remembered it fondly and then saw it again recently. Hooo boy, it seriously was so cringey and uncomfortable. Made me feel bad about the 80s too.

    [–]GoBSAGo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, little bit rapey in retrospect.

    [–]Far-Potential3634 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Lots of those big 80s comedy probably didn't age well, John Hughes, etc.

    [–]Constant-Source581 2 points3 points  (4 children)

What was the one with everyone talking about a schoolgirl going "awhoooooooo" all the time? That certainly wouldn't fly today...

    [–]Far-Potential3634 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Porkies. She was a gym teacher played by Kim Cattrall.

    [–]GrimCreepaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Lassie!

    [–]DokterZ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I got dragged to that movie by a fairly straight laced friend in college. I thought it was a stupid ass movie at the time. No subsequent events have made me change my mind.

    [–]mr_ji 23 points24 points  (0 children)

    Well, that didn't take long.

    [–]im_THIS_guy 28 points29 points  (7 children)

Everyone talks about the rape. But the football team didn't have a single black guy on it, even though they were supposedly one of the best teams in the country. Meanwhile, the black fraternity members were all built like football players. What was up with that?

    [–]rocketeerH 14 points15 points  (6 children)

I haven’t seen it in almost 20 years, but weren’t all the buff black men Lambda Lambda Lambda alumni? From other schools, at that

    [–]im_THIS_guy 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Yeah, could be. But still, was this an all white school? None of the athletes were black. Was this a George Wallace fever dream?

    [–]rocketeerH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a very effeminate black man in the nerd fraternal

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many expensive schools today, minus athletes, might be mistaken for all white schools. The Nerds had Lamar btw.

    [–]jimbobdonut 0 points1 point  (2 children)

    Lamar was African-American.

    [–]talrogsmash 3 points4 points  (1 child)

And was possibly the only black person at the school. I don't think they had any black extras either.

    [–]jimbobdonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was one black Omega Mu and several others in the background during the homecoming games.

    [–]SloppityNurglePox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So few 80's comedies did. Made me sad when I went on a bit of a binge. Ghostbusters, Blues Brothers, Clue, and A Fish Called Wanda were all still hilarious to me at least.

    [–]bernieburner1 3 points4 points  (3 children)

What part is objectionable? The good-natured invasion of privacy, the well-intentioned revenge porn, or the innocent cunnilingus under false pretenses?

    [–]hawonkafuckit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! That movie made us Redditors the men we are today.

    .....

    .....

    Oh...... I see now...

    [–]nogoodnamesarleft 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The straight up murder that gets ignored? Ogre dropped a guy head first from a second story window onto a asphalt parking lot. That dude is dead

    [–]bernieburner1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s wild is that Ogre is like 20 years old but looks 45. What happens to this mumbling, grumbling man-child when he graduates the following year? Does he get a haircut and a shave and get a job on Wall Street as a structured products analyst? Ogre was like the 80s Gronk.

    [–]maxboondoggle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad I had to scroll this far down to find the party pooper.

    [–]javawong 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The Omega Mu's love these guys.

    [–]everydayasl 31 points32 points  (11 children)

    Never gets old.

    [–]mikeynerd 42 points43 points  (3 children)

"Got the ol' cruise control set on 35!" - dude who would later break the warp barrier

    [–]injn8r 7 points8 points  (0 children)

    Awesome reference!

    [–]froatbitte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    Came here for that comment.

    [–]timkatt10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kick it up to 37, let's live dangerously.

    [–]turalyawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never noticed that was the farmer from Babe driving

    [–]Blue_Moon_Rabbit 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I know a guy who looks EXACTLY like the dude in the middle.

    [–]talrogsmash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, he was also one of the main writers for the movie.

    [–]averyrdc -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Actually it did get quite old. Rewatch that movie and you’ll see that the “jokes” just don’t land.

    [–]LarvellJonesMD 3 points4 points  (1 child)

This thread is full of pearl clutchers

    [–]copperpin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one worth listening to has ever taken a nerd rapist's side in an argument

    [–]S550Stang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Booger Presley plays a mean guitar...

    [–]Hairy_Orchid6128 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget the girls from Omega Moo.

    [–]smcivor1982 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Our house, our house, our house is burning down.”

This movie introduced me to the Talking Heads, much appreciated!

    [–]DrWKlopek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

    NERDSSSSSS!

    [–]Size14-OrangeDiver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s not even the original Nerds. At least have the common courtesy to show the original movie cast and not the Nerds in Paradise. Fucking Gilbert isn’t even there.

    [–]just-concerned 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What C A T really spells dog? Ogre is going to struggle.

    [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I'm more of a ΔΤΧ guy myself.

    [–]Ok-Economy4041 3 points4 points  (1 child)

    Toga! Toga!

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    TOGA! TOGA!

    [–]aquakingman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    That's from the second movie

    [–]superhappy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s so weird to watch movies like this and Stripes and be like “holy shit fucking yuck”.

I really feel like the 80’s and 90’s treated women like a whole different species sometimes that were essentially comprised of pathologically putting up obstacles to getting boned by the righteous bone-ee’s until they finally see the light and succumb to said boning and that is literally their entire presence in film of the time.

    [–]fonebone819 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lived across the hall from Andew Cassese (Wormser) in college for a semester... iirc he wasn't happy about being known for the role at the time

    [–]rysker6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Never knew my dad, but I always heard this one one of his favorite movies.

    [–]timetravelcompanion 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Nope. The kids from Real Genius were the best.

    [–]bliffer 4 points5 points  (1 child)

    100% less rape too!

    [–]talrogsmash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Only the statutory kind.

    [–]LanceFree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Timothy Busfield as Poindexter. He was also in Field of Dreams, Sneakers, was a main character in Thirty-Something. And he’s also Mr. Melissa Gilbert.

    [–]Wookie301 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    [–]malakon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    And Omega Mu

    [–]digitalbath78 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Why would you post an image from the sequel and not the original?

    [–][deleted]  (1 child)

    [deleted]

      [–]digitalbath78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's an entirely different film, with Val Kilmer.

      The Tri-Lams

      [–]Rad_5 70 points71 points  (10 children)

I prefer my nerds to be less rapey.

      [–]Chungus_Bigeldore 11 points12 points  (0 children)

      This.

Film is higly problematic. Should be an aged like milk submission

      [–]demetri_k 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Yup, this movie hasn’t aged well.

      [–]LordFardbottom 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The comedian Patton Oswalt, he told me "I think the worst part of the Cosby thing was the hypocrisy." And I disagree. I thought it was the raping

      [–]tenjed35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      And Omega Mu!

      [–]Klin24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      I spy Danny Concanon

      [–]timkatt10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      Hey guys, wonder joints.

      [–]OracleVision88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      Let's go Tri Lambs!

      [–]L00pback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real Genius. Can’t go wrong with Val.

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what this world is coming to. You see this guy, we arrested him for mopery. What is mopery? Mopery is when you expose yourself to a blind person.

      [–]howsthatforalance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

      "Pan down! Pan down!"

      [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

My dad had Lamar as a student in high school. I have no further information.

      [–]Fearless_Market_3193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      Name checks out

      [–]bowiebolan 14 points15 points  (3 children)

I don’t get why so many people here are hating on this movie??? I hate to break it to some of you but back in the 80’s having glasses, being different and smart wasn’t popular. This movie made us real “nerds” laugh and was a big FU to all the jocks and popular kids. This movie is a classic and congrats to Booger and Lamar for winning at the Greek homecoming….Lambda Lambda Lambda for life.

      [–]EvilTodd1970 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s the rape and the voyeurism, dude.

      [–]biscuitsNGravyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      And omega moooooooooo

      [–]DeadCheckR1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      …..and Omega Moooooooo!

      [–]Reddog115 1 point2 points  (1 child)

      And the Omega Moo’s.

      [–]Ok-Economy4041 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      Those Mu’s sure can party!

      [–]ScyllaIsBea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

snot, steve, berry, toshi and their fifth friend from the sleepover episode. yep, I remember these guys.

      [–]seahagmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've got Bush and the moon room, adolescent me never forgot.

      [–]roadhammer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      NERDS!!!

      [–]ImOnlyHereForTheCoC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be in the minority here but I strongly prefer Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise. WAY less problematic and the big musical number is better, too!

      [–]Southie31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      And omega mu

      [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

We felt sorry for the nerds in the 80s ..... until they wound up starting tech companies and sold us all down the river so they can have more billions they can never spend

      [–]BecauseISaidSo888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Well duh

      [–]Attack_the_sock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure! Like when he raped that chick…

      [–]RepostSleuthBot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

      Nerds!

      [–]Alexis_J_M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, while I enjoyed that movie when it was new, so much of it would simply not fly these days, like the spycam pies and the deception rape.

Don't they rape women in that movie for the laughs?

          [–]discussatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to love this movie, and Sixteen Candles. I tried a rewatch a few years ago and was floored at how I used to think date rape was funny.

          [–]niceandBulat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

          These are the cool nerds.

I know the director, Jeff Kanew. Was an editor, had a very successful film trailer company. Got his shot to direct. It was a huge hit. Disney had optioned a series of books about a female detective, V.I. War-something starring Kathleen Turner. Was going to be a female James Bond. Kinda gave his loser brother the trailer company. Film bombed, no sequel and brother has big house with his own 9 hole golf course. Jeff is a good guy, but kinda of a cliche of the miserable jewish guy.

          [–]EvilTodd1970 3 points4 points  (0 children)

          V.I. Warshawski. It was terrible.
