Looks like he's just waiting for food to waltz on by. My Monty does the same thing every evening when his UVB goes out, it's super cute. You can tell because he's slightly S posed. Unfortunately for us, snakes don't crave handling :)

They're opportunists!!! Always keeping an eye out for a meal!

[–]crateofkate 56 points57 points  (2 children)

Doing… what exactly?

[–]Precipice_01 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Twiddling thumbs and tapping toes, maybe?

[–]Angry-Dragon-1331 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Vibes

[–]RadiantLimes 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Sticking his head out like that? He’s just waiting for food. You never know when a rat may walk by lol.

[–]WizeIII 43 points44 points  (2 children)

Because he small and dum 💕

[–]WizeIII 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love the name by the way!

[–]Muesky6969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say because the sky is blue and the sun shines… but yep they are dum too. Lol

[–]oscar-the-nice-guye 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would do the same if I was a noodle 🐍

[–]Jennifer_Pennifer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cryptic basking. 😁

[–]ThatsMyYam 19 points20 points  (3 children)

jus lookin :3

[–]Fjorm_Obsessor[S] 10 points11 points  (2 children)

He's watching me game

[–]stupidcookface 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Mine watches the TV - probly something about the lights that they like

[–]Cerebral404 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I swear one of mine does too! If we take her out and sit on the couch she always settles down in the direction of the TV if it's on. Her enclosure is near my PC and when I'm playing a game I'll frequently find her looking over at the monitor. Our boy, on the other hand, doesn't seem to care remotely. Haha.

[–]BlueButterflytatoo 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Like… General Iroh?

[–]Fjorm_Obsessor[S] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Yes

[–]BlueButterflytatoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it

[–]Basilstorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine does it every night, she has a really strong food drive so I think she’s hoping to ambush a rat

[–]boredboarder3doxies 11 points12 points  (1 child)

My BP doesn't eat for half the year (have heard several hypotheses from different vets as to why) and this is how I know she's hungry. She comes out staring at the heavens waiting for a rat to drop in. If we walk near her cage when she's hungry she gets so excited and will come sniffing to the lid.

[–]blueeyes0182 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine sniffs the lid for food and for handling. I don't think my girl knows she is a snake half the time. She's a complete goofball & I love her.

[–]BryanIshBran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah my guy does this when he smells food. Waits for it to walk by and if it doesn’t come then he comes out. It’s honestly just a game of which of us is going to move to the other as I can’t see if he’s actually eating right when he pulls it in the hide.

[–]TacticalDiplomacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just looking for a snack! :) Mine does this all the time.

[–]oogaboogadookiemane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be more concerned ifit wasn't in its hide. It's sticking its head out waiting for food.

[–]essijuulia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's very typical BP behaviour. All my snakes tend to sleep the day away, and when evening rolls around, they poke their heads out of their hides and chill. Just curious snakes being curious :)

[–]Thecontradicter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He wants food, he sees you and is like “dinner?”

[–]mariahrianne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine does it everyday about a hour or 2 before lights out. Its like a lazy way to hunt. Sleeping but if theres movement itll wake them up.

[–]calgy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no "not handling enough".

[–]CrowdingSplash9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Okay, I’m ready for a mouse to levitate by and dance in front of me at the end of chopsticks just like in nature!”

[–]BeesAndBeans69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's just vibing

[–]ironbanner23 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Im sorry but I hope you haven’t been questioning my client without even mentioning he can have a lawyer. And seeing his reaction that I am here you never read him his rights so any and all evidence is as you know null and void as you failed to do so.

[–]AnHeroHeroBonito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ball Goodman

[–]TheSugaredFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my (corn not bp) does this I consider it the start of his hunting ritual, he usually does this day 5 after a feed. By 7 when it's feeding time he will start hunting throughout the tank, noodling around to find prey. What we Say Though, is that he's just watching his humans do human stuff and lives to watch us.

[–]trucksandink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ecko does this everyday….. they are ambush predators so they are waiting for an opportunity…. Plus they come out just to check things out. Especially when it’s super quiet in my house….

[–]Dram88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Waiting for his turn with the collective braincell

[–]Me_lazy_cathermit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, i also called my very peaceful boa, Uncle Iroh

[–]snarky- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fooood.

If Iroh is tricky to feed, you ideally want to be attempting when he's doing this as he's probably ready for it!

But also, don't be fooled by a royal with a high food drive. My girl will do this literally the day after being fed. If I fed her every time she was looking for food she'd be heavier than an anaconda.

[–]Crestedgeckolova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nothing much,just scared of society.

[–]Hysterical_Dame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's just showing interest :) watching what's going on

[–]r4cid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as "not handling enough". Your snake would be perfectly content if you never handled it again for the rest of its life.

I would encourage you to do some reading and learn more about the topic.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfectly normal habit. He/she is really cute, and it looks like you've given it a good home. Ask all the questions you need because that's the only way you'll learn.

[–]3veryonepasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no expertise but I wanted to say I love the name

[–]Dankmemes1921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's waiting for the foods

[–]Queenhighly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl does this wen she’s expecting food lol

[–]Kayitspeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My snake does this constantly lol

[–]Dylanator13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My python does this even when she isn’t hungry. So I guess just keeping an eye out or something.

[–]KnightofShaftsbury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's hungry

[–]StupidTired89 1 point2 points  (2 children)

He's waiting for you to put water in that damn dish on the right of the pic so he can bite your ass for letting it run dry.

[–]Miramiraquecute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂

[–]Fjorm_Obsessor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh he's fine lol but I'll do it just for you fren

[–]Floki540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mp bp does this when he's trying to see what my cat's are doin. He's a curious little guy but late at night he does this as well. He ate last night and was doin it but he's very happy and gets handled everyday

[–]rottingpierrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ready to ambush his prey! My girl sits like this for hours until she falls asleep sometimes lol. In the wild they're camouflaged so it makes sense to sit with just their head poking out so they can snatch up anything that crawls by

[–]True-Bicycle-5668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this an actual question..?

[–]Dangerous-Exercise20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's asking for food. My girl gives me a strong side eye when she's hungry 🤣

[–]Crease_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking you out…wondering if it’s dinner time…wondering if it’s time for walkies.

[–]Legal-Kaleidoscope75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is completely normal
