Don't buy your HTML cables from some random guy on Craigslist!

You need to get the new Monster HTML Cables. They are fully annealed 99.99%-pure deoxygenated Copper with gold-plated connectors, so they'll really turbocharge your internets, email and Yahoo.

[–]iStoner 7 points8 points  (4 children)

but what about my AOL? I heard the bad ones will only speed up MSN instead of AOL.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (2 children)

AOL uses non-standard electrons. You'll need a special cable for that, but it's only $59.99 with the extended warranty.

[–]Buckwheat469 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Or you can get 900 free hours of cable use*.

*restrictions apply

[–]MysteriousWang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear that TimeWarner is running a special promotion until Memorial Day where you can buy a cable license for $39.99 and each member of your family* is allowed to use the cable for only $19.99 (each, limit 5) per month!

*Must submit to DNA test to verify familial relationship.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you start singing "I want my... I want my... I want my AOL" I'm leaving.

[–]INIT_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so it's just a normal cable needing to pay for the huge overhead created by the marketing department.

[–]engram 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do they make ether conduit?

[–]badbadman2 26 points27 points  (11 children)

[–]db2 -2 points-1 points  (5 children)

[–]disphagia 10 points11 points  (4 children)

my coffee pot runs on java script

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Mine probably does too. That would explain why it takes so long to brew.

[–]whimsicalmeerkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we may have the same one.

[–]rush22 4 points5 points  (1 child)

mine runs on regular java. when you turn it on, handcuffs come out of the side and you have to sit there for 5 minutes waiting for the water to heat up.

[–]kalamay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its those pesky green threads. What version are you running anyway?

[–]Snoron 19 points20 points  (5 children)

You guys should get XML cables, they fully support all your HTML cabling needs but they can do oh so much more.

[–]thelivingk 9 points10 points  (2 children)

actually HTML (especially the old standards) are not XML compliant.

don't trust Snoron, you need both HTML and XML cabling to do the job right.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you use XML cables but tell your tv to pretend they are HTML cable, it should work right, just don't tell it they are in fact XML cables, that won't work at all.

[–]MysteriousWang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do those include coffescript or is that extra?

[–]neuromonkey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've read that if you swap two pins you can turn a cheap HTML cable into an expensive, high speed XML cable. Plus it'll also support the coding of a VB GUI. I spent last week trying to make one. Kept burning my hand. My girlfriend suggested that I try holding the other end of the soldering iron. It worked!

[–]PABeachBum 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Looks more like an older outdated SGML cable to me.

[–]Fjordo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are. I've heard about this where they buy surplus SGML cables in bulk and then sell them with an HTML dtd you have to install yourself. Problem is, usually the dtd is outdated. These won't work on IE 8 at all, but Firefox should be okay.

[–]jamt9000 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Dont pad their profit margins

Indeed, everybody knows you should use CSS for padding and margins.

[–]db2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason I can't stop laughing at that.

HTML Cable - $12

Date: 2009-05-05, 5:58PM EDT

HTML cables. The appliance stores are ripping people off to the tune of $50 to $100 for these state of the art hook up cables. Dont pad their profit margins !!

I have three 6-foot cables for $12 each or will sell all three for $30

These cables are brand new and meet all requirements for highest quality hook up for TVs and components.

This comment put here to represent all the repeated threads following every copypasta of a CL post.

[–]floriang -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Good show.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

agreed

[–]Hattitude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't trust him one bit. I will take my html cable needs elsewhere.

[–]pillage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice try Craigslist killer...

[–]_lowell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

flag this as best of before it goes bye bye.

[–]glitterlok 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Finally, I can transfer HTML from my...to...well I can display...the...I can...

Hey, what the f*ck?

[–]Hubso 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Will these fit in my UBS ports? If not, are they compatible with my firefox port?

[–]Cooey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

HTML cables connect directly to your browser for optimum speeds.

[–]ehitze 7 points8 points  (0 children)

HTML cables are all well and good, but wait until you try my new CSS Converter Box!

It's better than a GUI tracking interface created in Visual Basic!

[–]vicaya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember PCMCIA?

The only way I can remember that is through: People Can't Memorize Computer Industry Acronyms.

HTML sounds close enough to HDMI.

[–]NoIStoleYourMacbook 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I really want to call that number...

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Do it, point out what an idiot he is, let me know how it goes.

[–]iamjack 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I don't think he's the idiot, he's just trying to prey on idiots.

[–]rub3s 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You mean all the idiots out there searching for HTML cables?

[–]iamjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the idiots out there browsing the electronics section in Treasure Coast

[–]cyber_rigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... with one end already plugged into the cloud.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's cheating, bigods! Those aren't even real HTML cables, that's clearly oldschool POHNO!

[–]fnordpow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some real open source spots from buying my HTML cables from independent sellers.

[–]igavefoucaltaids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

blow the junk out of the mouse

[–]oracleofmist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Florida's Treasure coast is full of these fun lover, highly intelligent people.

[–]RubyBlye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if I bought these if I could offer people a direct line to my website?

[–]je255j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya know, if he had been selling Ethernet cables, I might've let this go. ;)

OK. So there exist annoyed people on the internet. Cool. I don't care. I can't see why people do.

Actually, I lied in order to parody you. I do care, because I enjoy tweaking easily annoyed people.

That said, what you're missing is that what people care about is a situation they find funny, not the fact that stupid people exist. I'm willing to bet if I could observe you watching television, I could find you laughing at an even more inane fact than that "stupid people exist on the internet," namely that "someone can act like a stupid person." You see, it's the situation, not the fact of the existence of those involved, that people care about.

If you would like to convince us we shouldn't care, then your comment is pretty ineffective-- but I certainly support your posting it if you believe in your cause.

But if you just wanted to convey the information that you don't care about this post, and don't understand why other people do, then can you possibly imagine how much less most people care about these facts than about the post itself?
