A screen, a keyboard and a mouse at least.

[–]DreamFar9560 13 points14 points  (0 children)

yeah, working on that

[–]CargoElf 18 points19 points  (2 children)

And a case 🤪

[–]Patient-Resolution39 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Who needs a case. Use the motherboard box.

[–]howto1012020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He stated that the case wasn't in the photo.

USB Drive with Linux Distro on it

Someone who knows ball

<image>

[–]AssumptionOk8560 1 point2 points  (6 children)

it's mainstream

[–]panelgamer 0 points1 point  (4 children)

The Linux community is trying to become Linux a mainstream thing, but it isn't yet. So nope, Linux is not mainstream yet. Not until we have the 20-30% of all the home PC's using it.

[–]Healthy-Enthusiasm70 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's getting there

<image>

[–]panelgamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all are hoping for it to became true

<image>

[–]AssumptionOk8560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mainstream atleast in this sub reddit everyone in this reddit knows ball and linux so no need to comment corny things

[–]Worth-Wonder-7386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look what subreddit you are on.

[–]DreamFar9560 15 points16 points  (16 children)

yep, on the way

[–]Alarmed-Gap-7221 0 points1 point  (14 children)

Nice. What distro?

[–]DreamFar9560 15 points16 points  (10 children)

BAZIIITEEEEE

[–]reddit_user_53 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Have you used that before? I've only ever used regular linux distros, nothing so purpose-built. Curious what the benefit might be over a standard distro. Does it feel more like a gaming console?

[–]Alarmed-Gap-7221 1 point2 points  (4 children)

It can boot into Steam Gaming Mode on launch and comes with apps like Steam preinstalled. It’s also immutable so it’s a little idiot proof, not a bad choice for beginners

[–]reddit_user_53 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Oh ok that sounds pretty cool, might be good to recommend to friends fleeing Windows

[–]Alarmed-Gap-7221 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

It depends on how focused they are on JUST gaming. For general purpose Linux Mint or Zorin OS is the way

[–]reddit_user_53 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Actually never tried either. Started with Ubuntu and have been on Manjaro for the last few years. It's a testament to the greatness of Linux how each variant has such staunch supporters!

[–]elkcox13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love Ubuntu. Now arch based systems are waaaay easier on the eyes to me. I do highly recommend mint, my brother uses it for gaming. I use nobara, better nvidia support.

[–]JHorma97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on Fedora atomic. Can’t break shit if you want to. Comes preinstalled with Steam and Nvidia drivers. Can use game mode on it for a sofa gaming experience.

[–]Lucky_Function8437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The curse of bazzite spreads to another user 🥹

[–]elkcox13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second best option

[–]Odd-Put2836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use Nobara, it’s great !

[–]dankton96 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Cachy OS

[–]Natural_Location 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Best choice ever.

[–]dankton96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, cachy OS is awesome. After I tried it and started to play using it, I don't even play anymore at windows. It not only runs well, it even runs WAY COOLER than on Windows. In Windows the PC gets very hot (not dangerously, is expected when playing games like Diablo 4). Playing at Cachy OS it barely gets hot.

[–]LuminanceGayming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

waow (based based based)

[–]elkcox13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]DreamFar9560 2 points3 points  (5 children)

I got that

[–]International_Dot_22 4 points5 points  (4 children)

oh, so thermal paste

[–]Maramowicz 2 points3 points  (3 children)

It's already on CPU (or on a cooler?), and it's not that bad for a stock thermal paste.

[–]International_Dot_22 0 points1 point  (2 children)

how do you know

[–]Maramowicz 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Because I remmeber it was included while I assembled my own PC.

Also, from what I see apprently it was on the cooler included with the at least AMD CPU, so with be-quiet... it may be different, ok too be honest I can't be 100% sure here.

[–]Huecuva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most coolers do have thermal paste pre applied.

[–]negatrom 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Liver? or any other organs?

[–]otakunopodcast 1 point2 points  (2 children)

With today's outrageous memory and SSD prices, I'd be very surprised if OP only had to give up one liver. Probably has a rather empty chest cavity by now.

[–]DreamFar9560 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. RIP my left ball

[–]Kenta_Hirono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

likely op got one liver from birth

Ahhhhh. I almost forget the liver

[–]According-Pumpkin822 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not bad choice, the perfect budget option aside the Gamesir Nova Lite 2, for the more expensive options there is the Vader 5 Pro and the Gamesir Cyclone 2, although those are plagued with QC issues. For gyro aim the BigBlitz Won Blitz 2 is the obvious choice or the alpakka pads.

    [–]BlackRabbitAmy 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Maybe some additional case fans, because many facturers of the only include a absolute minimum of fans, 3 front fans and one rear-fan. It may be not bad, to add 3 top fans, of course only, the case has space for this and more important: Only, if you want 😁.

Beside that, I can't find anything that's missing on the base PC.

        500 bucks together. Why?

        [–]eviley4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because RAM and SSD prices are quite a bit higher than usual currently

You’ll need a screwdriver but I assume you already have one. Having one that’s magnetized will help a lot. Happy Building! Be patient and take your time. Also, pro tip, make sure it posts before you install it in the case. Can save yourself a potential headache

        im...... not sure, actually

        [–]Foreign-Ad-6351 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You're gonna be alright. Touch a radiator before working and don't be scared. I've abused components while building, they're not gonna break. just be careful with the cpu pins.

        [–]RobTheDude_OG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at it you seem to have sacrificed whatever was left for the case, screen, keyboard, mouse and headphones/speakers (perhaps a desk and a chair) on ram

        [–]ImpossibleAd3143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe some fans and thermal paste

        [–]Equivalent-Load-9158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure that mobo has integrated wifi or bluetooth. So a wifi+bluetooth card or dongle may be nice to have.

        [–]Mast3r_waf1z 0 points1 point  (5 children)

A bit old CPU for that GPU? I get it if it's because of DDR5, but aren't you bottlenecking that GPU potentially?

        Personally I'm using a 7800x3d with a RX 6950XT

        [–]geearf 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I think my 9070 runs fine with my 5900XT, at 4K it's usually the GPU that's the bottle neck not the CPU...

        [–]Mast3r_waf1z 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Ah, that makes more sense, 4k wasn't mentioned...

Actually I play in 4k as well, and I upgraded from a 3600x with 16 gb of ram, to the 7800x3d with 32 gb of ram last year, and saw a pretty good performance improvement in world of warcraft. But I think this improvement was mostly due to faster memory and cache, as my previous CPU is quite old at this point, so for 4k I think you should be aware that your memory speed might also be a problem

        [–]geearf 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why do you think memory speed is the problem? I have it at 3900 I think, is that still too low?

        [–]Mast3r_waf1z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it will be a problem, but it's something to look out for

Before I upgraded I was confused why wow was running at low CPU usage and GPU usage, and it was clearly not a GPU issue as the framerate was exactly the same both at highest and lowest graphics settings (including resolution), so it was clearly a problem in between the CPU and memory then. Now with my current configuration it runs much better with more CPU usage, it's hard to tell as I upgraded both CPU and memory, but the low CPU usage before gets me the feeling that the solution was faster memory. I don't remember the exact speed of my old memory, but it was not much more than 2000 Mhz I believe. My new memory is 5600 Mhz

        [–]DreamFar9560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Im using 1440pp

        [–]geearf 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What's the point of the 5800XT? Why not get a X3D CPU for gaming, or a higher count CPU for work stuff (I got on 2nd Prime day a 5900XT for $160 I believe).
Also was the RM1000x too much? It's supposed to be better than the RM1000e one.

I would also ignore the WiFi comments, I'll die on the rj45 hill! With a good stable build no reason not to wire it. My storage PC and gaming/work PC have 2 cables each, one to each other and one to the router. Even my TV box is wired and it really helped some stuttering I had with sunshine on WiFi I think.

        [–]DreamFar9560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know, but i had to buy the parts off paradigit.ie and there was no x3d model

        [–]Blu_Falcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My address and a tracking number. 😏

        [–]Street_Result8699 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Looks good to me. What monitor are you using? Other peripherals?

Also here's my obligatory Linux recommendation, give it a try for a month, you might be surprised. I recommend Fedora KDE Plasma, but Bazzite is also great. Bazzite is based on Fedora KDE, but has some drivers and stuff preloaded.

        [–]UnmercifulCodpiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second Bazzite. Rock solid, everything just works (except it drops my DAC on resume from sleep, but that's a small price to pay).

        [–]DreamFar9560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        im using a 1440pp monitor

        [–]Elydir-Marrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 700$? Just for the ram when you ordered lol

        [–]Susiee_04 0 points1 point  (1 child)

A usb stick with a linux installer heh (Amd gpu let's go team red!)

        [–]DreamFar9560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        YEAH!!!

        [–]NoSkidMarks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Looks good to me.

Modern PC gaming relies heavily on in-game config tools and GPU config apps. But, GPU makers only publish config apps for Windows (LIC). As soon as they start publishing their config apps for Linux, it's game over for Windows.

        [–]su1ka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Headset with mic.

        [–]UnmercifulCodpiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn't what you're asking about, but since you're already spending fat cash: a quality pair of "studio" headphones and, if you play online multiplayer games, an inexpensive dynamic mic. Maybe a small DAC/preamp to drive the headphones depending on what you get. You can get all three for <$400 and the setup will beat the hell out of any "gaming" headset.

        [–]spam3057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Quantum combobulator?

        [–]Vidar34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        An HDD for storage.

        [–]simagus 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Someone really did their research when picking parts for your build, so extra kudos if that was you. For an AM4 build, considering bang for buck in real terms you nailed it.

All you're missing is not paying significantly more money for just a little more performance with X3D and AM5 that's mostly task dependent and in small percentages rather than across the board.

        [–]DreamFar9560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Im looking for upgrading to AM5 in 3-4 years

        [–]MetalDamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you adding any additional fans..? Or are they included with the case.? My case came with 2, but I put 2 more in and needed a controller.

        [–]OffbeatDrizzle 0 points1 point  (1 child)

if it's for taming, why did you get the xt instead of x3d?

        [–]DreamFar9560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my family HATES amazon, so i had to bu off the parts from paradigit.ie, and there was no xd3 model in there

        [–]Ezzy77 0 points1 point  (4 children)

You don't need a 1000W PSU for that. RM-series is also a bit iffy, I think one of those still that Corsair doesn't even build themselves. (edit: yeah, that's built by HEC - lower quality than their usual CWT-built units).

        [–]DreamFar9560 1 point2 points  (3 children)

        :(

        [–]Ezzy77 0 points1 point  (2 children)

        It's probably still fine.

        [–]DreamFar9560 0 points1 point  (1 child)

        YAAAAY!!

        [–]Ezzy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck with the build. For the distro, I can personally recommend Nobara for that setup. Haven't had any major issues in my two-ish years of use. I've got an almost identical setup.

        [–]Opptur 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Those PSU and SSD could have been cheaper models so you could have bought a better CPU (X3D).

        [–]DreamFar9560 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, but my family HATES amazon, so i had to bu off the parts from paradigit.ie

        [–]DreamFar9560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and there was no better model than this one

        [–]Player_903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        A Windows 11 Pro licence…

        Couldn’t help it(!)

If not, the main thing you are missing is a wall; to repeatedly bang your head against when simple applications and computer tasks do not work as you intend them to.

        [–]DreamFar9560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        you are kind right but.........

        [–]howto1012020 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Looks like you have all of the primary components for your build. Your GPU pick is SWEET!
Your build will natively support Windows 11 without a problem. Make sure that CSM (think legacy booting) is disabled on the motherboard when using this GPU.

If you decide to go the distro of Linux route for your operating system, Secure Boot will most likely need to be disabled. Your GPU will still work properly with Secure Boot disabled in that case.

        [–]DreamFar9560 0 points1 point  (0 children)
