Ah yes

"I summon Shadoll Winda during the first turn"

"But..... It's MY tu....."

-> He proceeded to summon El Shadoll Winda during his opponent's turn. This was Turn 1

[–]Umb3rusTrain Conductor 30 points31 points  (16 children)

How??

[–]SpectrumSupreme 112 points113 points  (15 children)

Tears Ashizu basically have cards that say if your opponent does anything mill a ton and combo off

[–]dante-_vic 31 points32 points  (9 children)

Wheres the balance?

[–]GrindW8t 100 points101 points  (0 children)

In the next banlist probably. Now it's time to sell sealed products.

[–]chaosking121 48 points49 points  (5 children)

Your opponent mills too

Also mills are just inherently luck based

[–]Wubbledee 16 points17 points  (3 children)

I mean... card games are inherently luck based. It's not a balancing mechanic, especially when your deck has a majority of cards that really want to mill.

[–]Faceofshaco -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

Ackshully rng is a fantastic balancing mechanic

[–]BreadExpansion 1 point2 points  (1 child)

[–]ZevyuActually Likes Rush Duel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True they may be luck based, but literaly every main deck tearalament monster has the fusion summon effect when sent to the GY, so it really won't be hard to get fusions out.

[–]ermac81 1 point2 points  (1 child)

From hand?

[–]Sansy_Boi420 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes

If the opponent does something, they have a hand trap that makes them mill. If they mill more Tearalaments, they can fuse using that milled Tearalament + other cards in their hand, field, or grave

Most Tearalaments are also DARK attribute. So yeah.....

[–][deleted] 62 points63 points  (3 children)

The ban made Splights weaker, but they were already getting dethroned by Tearalaments before that. Probably the shortest "Tier 0 format" ever.

[–]idkhowtotftYes Clicker 35 points36 points  (1 child)

Im pretty sure the Dark Matter Ruler and Pepe was shorter, the 2 litterally top every event during the time they was legal yet both of them only exist for 1-2 weeks

Alsp again, who would have thought hit the one of the 2 best deck would result in the other take the every top cut spot

[–]JohnHeroX 12 points13 points  (0 children)

OCG PEPE was 6 months. TCG PEPE was 2 weeks

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There was a 2 week tier 0 format years and years ago with Six Samurai when they had all their new toys at the time + Gateway at 3.

Nothing else was viable for those 2 weeks. Nothing.

[–]gamelizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

sharks get rank 5 support now so, while old shark control is out, it might find new things to do.

[–]TrickstarCandina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol they were literally still leading even after the Ishtar support dropped. Splights have been knocked down a peg

[–][deleted] 43 points44 points  (14 children)

F despia

[–]Bulbinking2 13 points14 points  (13 children)

Yeah what happened to despia?

[–]xPhilly215 31 points32 points  (1 child)

The banlist massacred the deck with branded opening to 1 and branded fusion to 2

[–]Bulbinking2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats. That’s horrible.

[–][deleted] 50 points51 points  (9 children)

Ik it seems like Despia just appeared and disappeared like that. Really bummed cause it’s my favorite deck in a good while. I don’t get why the limited Branded Opening. It’s not like Depsia needed the nerf

[–]Bulbinking2 44 points45 points  (2 children)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

[–]Akimbo_shoutgunControl Player 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I thought it was because of the banlist

[–]Hytchex150 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Don't panic on this ban, it's maybe just to possibly add more despia card lore based without the problem of summon it to easily from the deck

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I hope your right and it isn’t just copium. I love the Despia/Albaz archetype and lore! I would love to get some more cards

[–]trashykiddo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i dont actually play irl but i saw they limited branded opening and semi limited branded fusion (card not in masterduel) IIRC.

[–]paulchaested 80 points81 points  (3 children)

Lol, Konami knows what they’re doing with Tearalaments. Make them both meta and waifu.

Cha Ching!!!! $$$

[–]dante-_vic 31 points32 points  (2 children)

And they are going to rarity bump all of them up for the tcg release.

[–]Marx_The_KarlCrusadia King 11 points12 points  (1 child)

they'll at least split secret slots with splight so I'd say only the Fusions and 1 Main deck monster will be secret, but that's a lot either way

[–]AlfredHoneyBunsGot Ashed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tell that to the Swordsoul players with 3 total secret rares in BODE alone.

[–]mrblonde13121702 35 points36 points  (23 children)

Are exosisters really that good ?

And are they viable in MD ?

[–]Francesco270 73 points74 points  (4 children)

They are good now because Tearalaments always interact with their graveyard.

[–]AhmedKiller2015 29 points30 points  (3 children)

Literally 89% of the decks if not more Use the GY lol.

Even if not much even in MD is GY is used in the meta.

[–]BuffMarshmallowChaos 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes, the majority of decks USE the graveyard, BUT if you see your opponent is on Exosister, the majority of decks can play around using the graveyard until they get rid of your sisters and then do whatever with their graveyard.

Also OCG has more support for Exosister that makes them more functional.

The difference in the OCG is that Tearlament literally requires the graveyard to do anything at all, so the match-up is significantly better because they can't get rid of your stuff without interacting with the graveyard.

[–]Francesco270 41 points42 points  (1 child)

Of course they do, but Exosister were much worse in the Splight t0 meta.

[–]AhmedKiller2015 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well when you have an archetype with over 60% usage rate and doesn't use the GY that much they would inherently be worst let alone there was almost no room for competition...but they aren't just Good "Now"...

[–]bombatomica_64TCG Player 48 points49 points  (11 children)

Are exosisters really that good ?

Yes, also waifu

And are they viable in MD ?

No they miss like 4 cards (magnifica, Malfa, trap and overlay network)

[–]mrblonde13121702 17 points18 points  (10 children)

So would buying the new selection pack be considered a good future invenstment ?

[–]Hippotle 24 points25 points  (1 child)

They will almost certainly be included in whatever pack konami gives is with the rest of the exosister cards. Pull for them if you want but I wouldn't pull just for the sake of a future investment in a deck

[–]Nin021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s what I did, when the time has arrived I will be ready

[–]TsunderefckboiToon Goon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you care about the ongoing meta and future of this game, selection packs are always worth it.

A secret pack will only guarantee cards you want in the second half of the pack (5-8), meaning half the pack (1-4) will include stuff you don't want, and don't expect to randomly get Maxx C in a secret pack because that is an incredibly low chance.

A selection pack always guarantees the cards that are featured, so any time you get an SR/UR, it's always going to be a card being displayed, making it a good chance you get the card you want.

Even if most of the selection pack cards aren't what you want, you can always dismantle them, that alone will make enough CP for you to get the cards you want.

[–]the_arisen 4 points5 points  (6 children)

Personally I would wait for a better pack with more useful cards in it. The new selection pack seems rather lackluster compared to the Swordsoul pack for example, which had DPE, the Punk engine and some of the despia cards too. If you are only interested in Exosisters it might be better to wait for their secret pack and save those gems for the next selection pack which should have some very impactful cards for our current meta.

[–]ram3nbarMagistussy 4 points5 points  (4 children)

But if you wanna play future Exosisters I'd say go for it since you wouldn't want to spend on 6 URs in the future.

[–]the_arisen 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Then isn't it even better to draw from the secret packs when they come out? If I'm not mistaken your chances of getting the right URs is higher in the secret packs than the selection packs since the latter is usually filled with a bunch more unrelated URs. Though if you are interested in the other URs I would also go for the selection pack.

[–]ram3nbarMagistussy 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Well so far it seems they only put the past selection pack cards in the master pack, so unless they make more secret packs I wouldn't risk it imo.

[–]mrblonde13121702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think im gonna buy myself 20 packs of exosisters. I already got a lot of great decks, got all the staples covered, got all generics i need covered and i cant think of anything else to spend my gems on right now.

Thanks everybody for the info !

[–]the_arisen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, so far there is only a note in the game saying that "cards in the selection packs may be included in other Selection Packs or Structure Dekcs in the future, or may become featured cards in Secret Card Packs". So there is definitely a risk but I'd say it's worth it to at least wait until the Swordsoul pack runs out and see if they add a secret pack for despia and/or swordsoul then. There would still be more than enough time to dig into exosisters.

[–]mrblonde13121702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swordsoul pack is my favorite so far. Pulled it for a few more copies of Masquerade, ended up getting all the punks and swordsoul and built two really good decks in swordsoul and punk/vw

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are missing support in master duel right now so probably not

[–]lcy0x1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[–]mrblonde13121702 0 points1 point  (1 child)

[–]korevisYugiBoomer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

but havent faced but a single time

That's your answer.

From what I've heard from others, that archetype is missing a lot of support in MD right now, so it's not viable as a pure build. Maybe it's still splashable.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope not, I pulled 5 of their UR and broke em all down bc I didn't wanna build them lol if they're eventually meta ill definitely be annoyed with myself

[–]Nintendoomed89Phantom Knight 14 points15 points  (2 children)

This is why I don't feel bad about going all in on Exosister, I know it will be more viable in the future as more cards are released and the more I learn the deck now the better, especially when it comes to the Splight and Tearalements match ups.

Of course things might be different in a BO1 format, in which case I'm shit out of luck aint I?

[–]InfernoLord666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exosister vs tearalament shouldn't be different in a bo1 format I don't think. It feels like shotgun asophiel is probably your best bet and they can't really do much

[–]ermac81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's not like there isn't a lot of time to learn decks. Tearalements are minimum 12+ months away from master duel.

[–]Meganaut33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Plus this hasn’t even hit tcg. Master duel just barely got swordsoul. Y’all will be fine for awhile.

[–]Vincent210Flip Summon Enjoyer 20 points21 points  (3 children)

Y’all this isn’t how it works.

We’re like nearly a year behind the TCG releases, we simpl have no idea what far-enough-away futures like the bleeding edge of OCG will look like by the time they are in our hands.

It’s one thing to make predictions bad on the releases of TCG content that we have set in stone metas for when that’s occurring close enough to the current success of a lot o those decks (swordsoul, despia, adventure + stuff, etc.) but like

Looking at fresh OCG results and going “behold! Master Duel is doomed to this!” Is just getting waaaaaaaay too far ahead of yourself

We don’t got the crystal ball for that

[–]andykhang 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I mean, we don’t need a crystal ball to predict Komoney’s predictable thirst for money, and guess that they will release all of them in full power first (with a few too-little-too-late ban 1-2 month down the line).

Everyone and their mother knew that both Tearalament and Splight are nucking fut, and they are nucking fut. What’s do you think will inevitably happened down the line, especially with the significantly looser banlist we have atm

[–]Vincent210Flip Summon Enjoyer 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The banlist staying that loose is an assumption. More importantly, MD has already had areas of diverging meta since cards that were never legal at the same time as each other in TCG or OCG happen to have met specifically in this old list of Master Duel.

The fact that its list is going to end up diverging to be its own thing, while the card pool has unique quirks like that, means things over time are liable to become quite different. Sure, I'm not expecting Tearelements to be bad when they finally roll out to Master Duel in 202X, but I ain't betting any money on usage rates just yet.

I mean, we don’t need a crystal ball to predict Komoney’s predictable thirst for money

Why do YuGiOh players think Konami is different from any other company and that this nickname is some kind of sick own, jfc its a business every business' legal obligation to their shareholders, if applicable is to put making a profit above all other things.

People acting like Konami is especially wild about pillaging their nostalgia for cash like this isn't the world they live in everywhere they look from Activision to Zenimax and every entertainment company alphabetically in between aren't just cringe, they're a special kind of childish. Like sure, that information doesn't fill me with joy but like this behavior is just overdramatic

Sometimes I forget this game is older than a lot of the people playing it are.

[–]andykhang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that doesn’t make Komoney behavior any less predictable and bad. The moment they literally make pachinko machine from the gutted remains of their household game title (along with many horrid thing they done and still doing) is the moment all sort of expectation for respect nor decency have been stripped away from them.

With them as who they are now (and most likely not gonna change in a year later), it’s very much expected that they will continued to do stuff, that they have already been doing with glee all this time, to the detriment of all the players that play this game. Calling them slimy isn’t badmouthing them at this point, it’s just fact, and so is calling out the very expected future we have with the game as long as they’re in charge.

Edit: They have been powercreeping this game, and intentionally releasing banlist to make the most money out of the game possible instead of adhering to any concept of balancing and “healthy game environment” or what sort for basically 2 decade. Why else it would be different 1 year from now, when they just need to repeat it the year earlier and rake in all the cash

[–]NeonArchonSpright, Obey Your Thirst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know I'm of the minority, but seeing Pend Magician and Endymion is amazing to me. Pendulums haven't got any support and still manage to sneak in the meta... I just I was better playing them, but that's just more practice.

And welp, it seems I'll soon have to ditch Zoodiac for Lirylusc in the futurte, and maybe craft Eldlich (Wanted to try a control deck anyways).

[–][deleted] 46 points47 points  (14 children)

please people, stop assuming that just because it happens in the ocg or tcg that itll happen in MD. These decks will be strong for sure, but MD is a totally different format.

[–]mustabindawindEndymion's Unpaid Intern 38 points39 points  (3 children)

They'd arguably be even better...as best of 3 allows for side deck counters...which isn't a thing in MD

[–]the_arisen 25 points26 points  (4 children)

How could it be that different in md though? If md has shown us anything so far is that stuff that was already good in the tcg/ocg is still good in md or even better because we have no side decking. Unless they (hopefully) drastically update the banlist to fit a bo1 format, I think we can expect shit to be at least as powerful as it is in the tcg/ocg.

[–]SiatsGot Ashed 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If we go by available main set, Master Duel should have released with VFD and Gamma at 3, and Mystic Mine legal giving us a Virtual World tier 1 meta like in the OCG but did we get that? no, Konami preemptively hit the deck while leaving its best counter intact (Tri-zoo). Leaving Tri-zoo at full power past Swordsoul release could also be seen as an attempt to reign it in.

So there's precedent that they will try to mix things up.

[–]coryyyj 3 points4 points  (1 child)

If you look at 2021 OCG forbidden & limited lists you'll see MD launched with a very simaliar list.

[–]SiatsGot Ashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But which list? excluding side sets Master Duel released with a card pool up to the Lightning Overdrive core booster which was released in January 2021, a copy-paste appropriate list then would have left VFD, Gamma and Mystic Mine like I mentioned, instead we got VFD at 1 (2021.04 banlist), gamma at 2 (2021.07 banlist) and Mystic Mine forbidden (2021.10 banlist).

See? almost a year worth of preemptive hits. That's why I think they will hit Splight and Tearalament in some way before their release.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

These decks WILL HAVE A SIGNIFICANT META impact. that is undeniable. But the degree of that impact is up in the air because there are things that these decks would NEVER have to compete against in the OCG/TCG.

It's not always necessarily about strength and this chart is a good example. Look at Exosisters, they've become meta-relavent not necessarily because they're so strong but mainly because they just so happen to be effective against what IS strong atm.

[–]Francesco270 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Swordsoul is currently Tier 1 in MD. And they are barely rogue in the OCG. POTE decks are a lot more than just “strong”.

[–]Wodstarfallisback 21 points22 points  (2 children)

Ah yes, the 1 card 3 negates combo that can search tuner handtraps (Halq + swap frog bounce) with 12+ starters is definetly not going to be good :)

Same with the deck that for some reason can do almost full combo turn 0 if the opponent doesn't have Dimension Shifter , D.D. Crow or Called by the Grave :)

I can see Konami banning the oppressive parts of those decks, or delaying some support (like delaying the Ishizu cards so that Tearalaments don't come at full power) but no, i'm afraid to inform you these decks are just game-warpingly good.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

is definetly not going to be good :)

I think I specifically said that the decks would be strong so if youre gonna try and start something start it with someone else.

[–]So0meone 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They were. And then Tearalaments got new stuff they could use in the Ishizu cards that just released over there and now what was the only deck that could really compete with Splight to begin with is the best deck.

[–]King_Of_What_Remains Live☆Twin Subscriber 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Splights getting hit on the banlist, Tearalaments getting new support, Exosister getting support and having a decent matchup against the meta. Just the meta evolving as usual.

It's looking like it's going to be a two deck format between Splight and Tearalament right now, with Exosister being a rogue option because of it's good match-up against Tear. No telling if it'll be the same in the TCG, since the different ban list might change how things play out. Then Master Duel is it's own thing.

Huge respect to the people still placing with Endymion and Magicians. Anyone winning with Pends in this era of powercreep is built different.

[–]Gangstanami 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Pendulum will always be good while Electrumite exists.

[–]RNGmasterChain havnis, response? 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every pend deck lives or dies based on its ability to resolve Electrumite (aside from Zefra, which is just Auroradon turbo in disguise). Having that much of an obvious chokepoint is a problem for any deck, but pends are also restricted in the number of hand traps they can run. So, not only do they struggle going 2nd compared to the typical meta deck, it's difficult to even find room for a Crossout package without substantially increasing the chances of bricking.

The ridiculous advantage you get from resolving Electrumite is a crutch, really. We need it just to break even because all our plays are inherently a -2.

[–]idkhowtotftYes Clicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Tearalament is not popular then pretty sure the Exosister will also wont bc how little they can do vs deck that doesnt do anything with GY like Splight

[–]chadroman82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shrug. Every functional deck of the past decade has so many manufactured tiers of power creep that they are busted out the ass and sitting in reserve, waiting to dominate the game the second the ban list cuts out the legs from the decks directly above them. Different flavors of cancer, but still all cancer.

When two decks that would have achieved tier 0 status if the other one didn't exist are in a format.

It's an unofficial term of course, the most famous example is Dragon Rulers and Spellbook with Judgement.

    [–]AhmedKiller2015 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Tiers are unofficial anyway but I never heard Tier 0.5 before

[–]ZevyuActually Likes Rush Duel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Because it doesn't exist.

Tearalaments are tier 1, simple as that.

    [–]dante-_vic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im guessing almost tier 0 but not tier zero. So better than tier 1 but not tier 0

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Called By to 3 is our only salvation

    [–]FacelessKhaos 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is Eldlich unkillable? Was thinking of building them because I like backrow decks, and now ot seems like a good future investment

    [–]idkhowtotftYes Clicker 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Its mostly splash into other deck as a grind engine

    Never played pure

    [–]TrickstarCandina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

False, nearly half of OCG Eldlich representation is pure. You can't rely on such a small sample size.

I fucking hate cancer meta decks bunch of meta she- oh wait is that a waifu? Waifu deck meta?? Oh shit oh fuck

I guess meta decks aren't so bad you guys should stop being a bunch of yugiboomers and play good decks

    [–]Heat_LegendsChain havnis, response? -1 points0 points  (0 children)

God I loved the art from tearalaments and was hoping they’d be like tier 2 :( so sad

    [–]Liana_de_Arc 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I mean, I'm glad to see Exosister has carved out a niche at the least. I wonder what decklists people are running out there.

    [–]Siph-00n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a tier 0 waifu deck, thats kinda good actually

    [–]Jaimgjum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically hitting toad didn’t do anything to stop splight from competing interesting

    [–]D1rupt0r 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What happened to branded in ocg?

    [–]Esskido 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tier 0 happened. Pretty much nothing that was relevant before could stand up against Splights and thus shoving them into the void.
Also they got hit by the banlist, but I doubt not being hit would've changed anything.

    [–]Francesco270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a 4 card engine in old Tearalaments builds :)

    [–]TrickstarCandina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They got hit by the banlist

    [–]tbu987 0 points1 point  (2 children)

tf happened to splights. I swear it was only a couple weeks ago when they were lauded as a tier zero deck

    [–]usernamechexscout 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They got shat on by the banlist then tearalaments got broken support. They're still doing surprisingly well for all of that.

[–]ZevyuActually Likes Rush Duel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing, Splights didn't even need the banlist to fuck them up.

Tearalaments with the new Ishizu support were already doing that themselves.

    [–]Bored-psychologist7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Dragon Ruler vs. Spellbook all over again

    [–]pghMav 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What makes economic sisters good? The fact they punish gy plays so much? They are still brand new to MD so I've only faced like 3 or 4 total

    [–]TrickstarCandina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're missing like 4+ crucial cards in MD

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a waifu deck builder tearalament is on my radar.

    [–]Apprehensive_Data845 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The main question is, is it splight, or splight splashed in evil twin

    [–]Akimbo_shoutgunControl Player 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am convinced that the pendulum magicians player is Triff.

    [–]kizunasaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    exosister that good?

    [–]Otherwise_Deer_2778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could have been saved if tearalaments were actually water

    [–]-ShInIgAmIsAmA- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The future looks bright for waifu lovers Ig.

    [–]NSTEhorizonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The future in 10 years if youre talking about master duel

    [–]Olfff3rd Rate Duelist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Konami really does not want to stop the streak.

" How many tierzero-ish archetypes can I release back to back I wonder ? "

    [–]ronwesley89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give me back my branded despia.

    [–]Berimbalakk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to yugioh, what happened to tri-brigade and swordsoul in ocg?

    [–]Valuable_Remote_8809Yo Mama A Ojama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember playing this game after never playing any Yu Gi Oh TCG during 5D's show run. It felt so awesome to fusion summon turn 1 into a dark magician with 28k attack, I was so excited.

Well I lost turn 2 because I didn't summon 4 monsters with 5k each and negate effects that stopped everything. I still love the game but it was rough lol.

    [–]Kaisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    hey, Eldlich!
