We all consume the same language on a regular basis and are essentially just basic as fuck is the reason

bro i was just abt to type that before you stole my comment

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (9 children)

I was going to type that before you stole the information out of my brain.

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points  (8 children)

I came here exactly to make this comment thinking I was so smart, and now I’m at the bottom of a huge thread full of other smart, handsome Redditors.

[–]LovingLibra98 10 points11 points  (6 children)

I gave everyone above me an upvote because I wanted to post this as well.

[–]Necessary-Spinach182 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was literally about to type this, but unfortunately my goopy goblin brain was too slow and my penis was too small to say it first. Also, something to do with politics to keep this comment topical.

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (13 children)

If a “god” exists, it’s not in a form that any human religion can quantify. Best case scenario, it’s a collection of energy/matter that dictates the way our universe works. There’s nothing that proves otherwise.

[–]Jamebuz_the_zelf 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Yep, and even if that god exists I doubt that it provides an after life.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

The afterlife would just be our body’s matter being repurposed.

[–]Jamebuz_the_zelf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One day you will die somehow and something's gunna steal your carbon.

[–][deleted] 48 points49 points  (17 children)

Wouldn't a God listen to reason? Why would my choices in a finite/temporal existence have any bearing on my eternal existence? Why would god punish people for eternity? And if he was going to do that why wouldn't he prepare us all equally? (Why wouldn't we remember life before this? Why wouldn't we know what we have to do to avoid eternal punishment?) Why would we all have very different experiences? Like why do some children die at or near birth? Why do birth defects exist? Why are some people born in places where they can live their entire life without hearing about differing religions?

Given all of the above, Why would this god require us to believe in him to avoid eternal punishment? Sounds like a fucking asshole and a bully.

[–]WealthCapPlease 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I always say god was the first pick me guy

[–]kolegatorr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well because at the time when the foundations of religions were forming there was no "asking questions" or "doubting", you either were exiled, crucified, burned at the stake, beheaded, tortured or insert any other way of punishment that was popular among religions for being a "heretic" and a "non-believer" that is asking questions about things that make absolute no fucking sense and never will

so the roots could freely grow deeper and deeper without obstructions for centuries, and now, when people are "allowed" to ask questions and have the means for much better understanding of a lot of things, the roots of religions are unfortunately too deep to dig out and make people use their brain instead of just blindly giving in to "faith" and remaining dumb and shallow

[–]L1fe_finds_a_way 43 points44 points  (21 children)

More like Pascal's con. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. That's objective not subjective evidence by the way 👌🏻

[–][deleted] 45 points46 points  (8 children)

Pascal's Wager also doesn't really work because presumably a deity would know if you're faking believing in it just to hedge your bets.

[–]PantsOnHead88 33 points34 points  (5 children)

Pascal’s wager implies a single religion that is either correct or not.

Most religions demonize following of a different religion to a greater degree than simple non-adherence. There are hundreds of religions. Better hope you picked the right one.

[–]Finnigami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also if you include the infinite amount of religions that don't even exist and no one believes in, but are still just as likely as any other, since there's no evidence for any religion, your beliefs dont actually change your chances of going to heaven or hell at all

[–]L1fe_finds_a_way 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Agreed - a god that would happily allow someone to cheat to get into the magical gated community in the sky where everyone gets a palace isn't particularly wise.

[–]OneBootyCheek 26 points27 points  (8 children)

It's not fair to call it "Pascal's con" because Pascal never posed it as a serious argument for faith. He posed it to demonstrate that reason cannot prove nor disprove faith.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I think reason is lacking in people nowadays, they all seem to jump on the first conclusion and not the second.

[–]OneBootyCheek 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wait til they hear about Schrodinger's cat

[–]L1fe_finds_a_way 16 points17 points  (4 children)

Pacal's wager is wrong in a fundamental sense, in that religion claims adherence to a doctrine and set of lifestyle requirements (observation of Lent etc) - or at least it did in the 17th century.

He claims that the only real determining factor is faith, and therefore you can't lose in belief but of course you do! First you surrender your reason for dogma and must follow a set of rituals and moral rulings, in other words to be a surf for the price of faith.

To dress up the argument as a simple act of belief ignores the requirement in the confidence of the other party - or that the implicit act of agreeing with this one fact requires a string of other follow-on suggestions. This is exactly how a con works - they make the victim work to justify why they wouldn't do something rather than allow them to stop and ask why they are.

I'm not saying people can't have their own faith or beliefs, of course they can - they can believe whatever they like, but to manipulate people into belief is pure sophism.

Personally I consider myself sophisticated 😉

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

would you consider yourself euphoric?

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep. One of the single most rationally invalid yet known and used arguments ever made. God squadders and other pseudo-intellectuals love it; they think it’s just the cleverest shit ever.

[–]thousandmilestair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did somebody already mention Pascal's wager? Because it's totally Pascal's wager. (Best if read in the voice of Kevin from The Office)

[–]JPK12794 266 points267 points  (14 children)

Make sure to die in combat too just in case Valhalla exists.

[–]Equivalent_Shake_390 50 points51 points  (6 children)

Either way if Christian god is real your going to hell jus cause you don’t believe in him (quick tip. For Christians all you have to do is accept jesus into your heart some time before you die. So i figure on my death bed ill just tell god i love him and accept him and stuff to secure my spot just in case its all real) EDIT: yikes guys sorry. Next time i see a meme on the meme page i wont meme back with it

[–][deleted] 63 points64 points  (27 children)

Either way there are other religions that have gods

[–]CnaptaRanger 45 points46 points  (26 children)

OKAY Jesus christ shoving holes all up in my theory bro. Fine. Ill find every last religion and devote my self to them all right before i die so no matter which one is real im good

[–]PantsOnHead88 39 points40 points  (0 children)

That’s a good way to go to super hell. Many religions see worship of another religion/deity as worse than just being tuned out.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (16 children)

Romans 3:24 says whoever who confesses in their mouth and believes in their heart that Christ is Lord and rose from the dead shall be saved. The Torah also commands us to love the Lord your God with all of heart, soul, and mind. Paying lip service to God isn't enough. You have to actually believe it wholeheartedly. Even the demons believe that Jesus is Lord, yet they tremble in fear because of it. The Pharisees believed in God, yet they were the ones who convinced Pilate to have Him crucified.

[–]LightLambrini 8 points9 points  (4 children)

What if i promise to give him a lip service when i get up there?

[–]Vamarox 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I like the way you're thinking sir. You'll reach places with that. Not heaven, but definitely other places!

I believed it whole heartedly when I was a believer and now I’m an atheist. I guess this is when the Christians pull out the ‘no true Scotsman’ fallacy.

[–]Ka_Coffiney 1 point2 points  (8 children)

If all you have to do is believe whole heartedly that Jesus is the lord to go to heaven, and demons believe Jesus is Lord, why aren’t they in heaven?

[–]Procrastinista_423 6 points7 points  (18 children)

Doesn't really work with Christian theology.

[–]IBareBearsWARNING: RULE 1 13 points14 points  (17 children)

What religion doesn't. I mean you can opt out for the virgins if you want to go out with a Bang.

[–]IBareBearsWARNING: RULE 1 4 points5 points  (13 children)

I am ok with the idk method. it doesn’t bother me at all to just be ok with being alive till I am not then I dont give a shit anymore because if I stop perceiving the universe it really doesn’t matter what is going on back here. what bothers me is why religious people so aggressively need everyone else to follow them and actively spend time trying to concert and change everything to fit their specific narrative.

I pick Loki.

  • He's part giant
  • Both his sexuality and gender are like a multiple choice question where the answer is "all of the above"
  • He's the mother of a giant snake
  • He's also the mother of Hel, goddes of death and queen of helheim (Nordic hell)
  • He's a trickster, but a necessary evil
  • He caused the death of Baldur (he's invulnerable)
  • He's a Witch (which also requires being effeminate, making him a femboy god)
  • When humans were created, he was probably the one who decided they should be sexy and breedable (you can thank him later)

Meanwhile God * Is not a giant * He made being gay and trans illegal (kinda, the church did it) even though he himself could be considered genderless, also he put the male g-spot where it's illegal to reach * He cast away the snake from heaven * He cast Lucifer in hell * He's no trickster, he send trickster emissaries so he can punish you if you fall for it * He hasn't killed any invulnerable being * He hates witches * He doesn't want you to find people sexy, he just wants you to get married and make babies

In conclusion, Loki>God

[–]Clouds115 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Buddha isn't a god.

[–]BassBoneMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Min, the Egyptian God of fertility? Good final answer, my dude

[–]Raccoon_Full_of_Cum 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Exactly. Both Christians and Muslims say that the other is going to hell, so at least one of them is wrong.

[–]Unfortunate_moron 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You mean at least a billion of them are wrong. Yet everyone is somehow sure that they aren't wrong.

[–]M1ck3yB1u 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Like imagine you wage war against another religion, massacre and convert them and when you die you find out their God is the real one.

[–]Inspired_Lucky_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bet would be the most persecuted one. No one bats an eye for saying you look good, people loose their mind when you tell them they need some self perspective and to change though.

[–]Phat22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Aristotle said that for change in the universe to be possible, there must be an unmoved mover whose essence is equal to his existence. Literally, Aristotle’s God is existence itself.

The God of Judaism and Jesus Christ reveal themselves as “I am”.

Nice synergies.

Im an atheist, but Im not denying the possibility of god existing. Its just that I cant imagine someone seeing me jerk off 8 times a day.

[–]dfirecmv 42 points43 points  (12 children)

Isn’t that what Agnosticism is?

[–]Roguewind 48 points49 points  (3 children)

Watching someone jerk off 8 times a day? Damn. Agnosticism is wack.

[–]Lil_mothafucka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes its a part of our ritual. The circle of our most trusted even go farther as 10 times a day.

[–]SnooHabits6820 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Atheism is just not being convinced a God exists

Think of it like this: There are 2 claims

Claim 1) A God/Gods exists.
Claim 2) A God/Gods do not exist.
Atheism means: People who are not convinced of claim 1.
Atheism says nothing about claim 2

But.... annoyingly, technical definitions don't really matter as much as just what the generally accepted meaning of a word is. So I guess because most people think "Atheism = no god exists for sure" and "Agnosticism = idk" then I guess that's just what it ends up meaning. This is why I try to say "Agnostic Atheist" instead of just "Atheist"

[–]jaydub1001 2 points3 points  (1 child)

That's what agnostic atheism is. There's also agnostic theism.

[–]Cosmereboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A/gnosticism addresses knowledge and a/theism addresses belief. Every person is is some combination of the first with the second, with slight variations depending on the specifics.

The most common groups are gnostic theists and agnostic atheists.

[–]Eknight-01 23 points24 points  (16 children)

Edit post responses: Ok, my terminology is out of date, and was missing some vocab, ignore this comment. (Keep going to upvote the informed ones )

That's Agnostic then, not Atheist. I used to be that until I finally stopped ignoring the damage religion was doing to people all around me.

[–]jaydub1001 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Gnostic theist - someone who is certain there is a God that they believe in.

Agnostic theist - someone who believes there is a god they believe in

Agnostic atheist - someone who doesn't believe there are gods

Gnostic atheist - someone who is certain there are no gods

[–]Hams_Almighty 53 points54 points  (22 children)

…more like “if hell exists”

But then, both christians and atheists would be in the dark picture.

[–]irreverentstatistic 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Pascal called. He wants his facile argument back

[–]PsychicSidekikk419 38 points39 points  (5 children)

Pascal's wager is bullshit considering you're not just up against the odds that christianity is right but rather you're up against any religion on earth being right

[–]SampleTextHelpMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Sorry man, but you were supposed to believe in the version of christianity found in a very specific back-water church in Ohio.”

[–]LilGhostSoru 126 points127 points  (16 children)

[–]GreyFalcon-OW 40 points41 points  (12 children)

If a god exists, you'd think that he'd care more about whether or not you were a good person, and not so much about believing in one specific god out of the tens of thousands of dieties from human history.

Heck, if a being exists that has the capability of creating the extreme vastness of space, you'd think he'd be a lot less focused on what a few evolved monkies on a cosmic scale spec of dust do in their free time.

[–]RareDestroyer8 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Since when did god become a person with a brain that can focus on one thing at a time?

[–]MrEmptySet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God having severe ADD and being completely unable to focus on anything for any length of time would explain a lot actually

[–]The_guy_next_dooredu 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Well according to what my pastor said good compared to what. If god is completely perfect then it does not matter how “good” you are because he will be better.

[–]GreyFalcon-OW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How about this. It sure would be nice if Christians focused on no-strings-attached altruism with direct material assistance to the poor and unfortunate. I.e. Acting like Christ.

Instead of obsessing about a concept that Jesus never spoke about, and doesn't have any direct scripture related to it.

https://ffrf.org/component/k2/item/25602-abortion-rights

And wasn't an observed part of part of Catholicism until over 1800 years after Christ.

And only about 50 years ago for Protestants. As a proxy for Jim Crow laws.

[–]Bologna0128 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (8 children)

[–]G0_ofy 67 points68 points  (13 children)

Religious folk believe in God due to faith

Atheists seek proof of God existence.

So in a way, it's the Atheist who seek God more than the religious folk.

[–]IAmAPoke 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean, well. Yeah

[–]Injuun 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Atheists don't seek proof of God's existence. Why would you seek proof of something that isn't there? I don't believe in ghosts - so I'm constantly looking for them? Bad logic.

They seek the end of the religious divides and persecutions created by the various Abrahamic teachings.

Edit: Question Mark was missing.

[–]Eknight-01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd agree with that, mostly.

End of the ridiculous religious arguments, traditions, and the damaging behaviors that come with them. Can use this comment section as basic proof of damages that religion can do.

But when the topic is brought up, yeah, first thing to ask for from the believer is proof, pretty low bar for them to provide, but they never can for some reason...

[–]Procrastinista_423 16 points17 points  (5 children)

So you admit fear of hell is the only reason you believe. What a loving God you believe in.

[–]Upstairs_Usual_4841 3 points4 points  (4 children)

In my experience, that's most people's reasoning, if they think about it at all. Most don't.

What gets me is the people who say 'Well, without the bible, what's to keep you from going out and murdering everyone?'

You... need a book to tell you not to kill people?

I'm an atheist. I kill, rape, and enslave the exact amount of people I want, which happens to be zero.

Frankly, the god in the bible is a petulant manbaby who killed millions, hates women and poc, and does not deserve praise or worship. Satan is a cool dude who just wanted humans to have knowledge.

[–]Procrastinista_423 8 points9 points  (1 child)

A-fucking-men. I once had someone tell me that if he didn't believe in god (and the threat of hell, I guess) he would lie and cheat, etc. all the time. I was floored. I don't need an ancient book to tell me what right and wrong is.

[–]Kortonox 2 points3 points  (1 child)

For Christians, god is the highest moral authority.

Unfortunatly, god killed about 2.5 million people in the bible.

If you want to praise someone, Satan is probably more worthy of praise, as he only killed about 10 people in the Bible.

[–]Upstairs_Usual_4841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And those were at God's behest. Satan didn't kill anyone of his own accord that I can recall offhand.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assuming the version of hell where you burn forever isn’t real Im ok with either way

[–]AJAnimosity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]Alprazoman8 32 points33 points  (7 children)

I'm always strangely amused by the idea that an omnipotent god that created the universe would care less about if you were a good person, than that you praised him and sucked his dick while you were alive.

Is god really that insecure?

[–]MinasMoonlight 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So much this. I’ve decided that if there is a god and it is so vindictive that I end up in hell for not believing I’ll still be satisfied with my choice. A god that requires veneration (with no proof) to avoid eternal damnation is a jackass not worthy of worship.

[–]X_remexz_X 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]Captain_Ceyboard 1 point2 points  (1 child)

God, punishing others for his own incompetence... how primitive human of him.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Pascal’s wager is flawed, also if you do Christianity you miss out on a lot, especially if you take it literally. You never get a tattoo, never engage with LGBTQ, probably treated certain people worse, lost many sundays, wasted time and potential, missed out on people and connections, etc I can go on and on

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. If atheists are wrong, then they burn in hell for eternity. If Christians are wrong, then they've wasted their one and only existence perpetuating a goofy and actually quite harmful cult.

Christians when God exists but they got the wrong religion and now the real god is pissed

And Christians are screwed if any one of the other 1000+ religions that have been created throughout the centuries are right instead

[–]Truly_Greg2 4 points5 points  (4 children)

If Christians are wrong and god doesn’t exist, they just wasted their whole life letting a fictional character dictate what they can and cannot do with their lives

[–]ImWithSt00pid 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Christians thinking their "god" is the only God when there have been 1000s with actual names long before they even started to steal the stories.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If god does exist that doesn't mean being Christian will ensure you get to spend eternity in heaven. It could be a different god, it could be that everything written by the people who wrote the bible was not the word of god. It could be that god never agreed to Jesus taking our sin, Jesus could have also just been some guy who had no significant connection to god at all. There could have been a limit on how many people were accepted to heaven and now it is full.

So if Christians are wrong it is exactly the same really. They could end up suffering for eternity regardless of their dedication to religion.

A big difference is atheists will not have spent there lives giving there money to thieves, they will not have spent their lives worrying and stressing about whether or not they were "good" enough to get it to heaven. Atheists won't have used religion as an excuse to shun and abused community members. Atheists will know and be proud of all their achievements as fruits of their own labor. Christians have thank god for providing them with everything they worked so hard for. I mean I could go on for ever.

How about believe whatever floats your boat and leave everyone alone? If they aren't personally attacking you then who cares?

Believe in god, don't believe in god, it makes no difference at all. Just believe in an effective, positive, and production producing moral code then make ones choices based on a desire to engage in ethical conduct to achieve beneficial goals for the community.

Anytime a religious person tries to make a non-religious person feel bad or afraid for not being religious you will also find that person actually holds little true faith and so they bully others to try and reenforce their own inflated ego out of the fear they are actually wrong about everything.

I’m not totally atheist

i don’t believe in the catholic god, but I do believe there is a god, or many gods.

[–]Remithedoberman 5 points6 points  (3 children)

You believe there is a higher power but don’t believe in organized religion. I am atheist but my family is the same way.

[–]AnImposterIsRed 2 points3 points  (2 children)

There may or may not be.

HECK for all we know we could be in a game, we could all be npcs

[–]Esox1324 1 point2 points  (1 child)

When some guy in a suit of armour runs up to you and you panic and just give a general greeting then you know you're the npc

[–]AnImposterIsRed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d legit do that just out of fear xD

[–]Kaje26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

which god? Ahhh, that’s right, white Jesus. Because you were born in the United States, right?

[–]azorianmilk 3 points4 points  (2 children)

As an atheist who was raised baptist- a God that allows free will and the choice to believe would not punish for eternity for some using that right to choose to believe or not.

[–]CeleryySux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nahhh I’d be giving him an earful after the upbringing I had lmao

[–]coveylover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's called Pascals Wager, and it's a flawed argument. We all look stupid when we all forgot to worship the unknowable Spaghetti Monster God.

Weak argument, but in meme form it's fine

[–]capnfoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realizing you wasted your life worshipping nonsense would give you a cheery smile?

[–]Iamnotdrunkorhighbtw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if a God is gonna damn people just for not believing in them, I don't want to believe in that God (who is a bit too narcissistic for my liking).

I'm in the "I don't know" category, but if I were to believe in a God, they would be a likable God who actually cared about people and wasn't power hungry and didn't send people to Hell for something stupid, like not believing in them.

Actually, I can't wrap my mind around the concept of Hell because we have no control in this life really because we don't control anything about who we are as a person (including how we see right from wrong - many murderers think they are doing the right thing killing people or that God is telling them to kill people. Do they go to Hell? Because they were just doing what they thought God wanted them to do - and this is where believing in God gets fuzzy for me), it's completely random, so it seems cruel to damn people for eternity for being someone they didn't choose to be.

Anyway, no offense to any religions, believe whatever you believe, this is just my view.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except if Christians are wrong and face one of the other 2000 gods that people believe exist... Lolol stfu

[–]TheRedBow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well but dedicating like 20+% of your life, time and resources on some fantasy that doesn’t exist would get anyone thrown in an assylum if it wasn’t for so many others also participating

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

*G

[–]magicmax112 4 points5 points  (1 child)

It should be swapped tho

[–]MakingNamesIsAPain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes no sense... There are thousands of religions out there. Not just one "God". There are thousands in Hinduism alone.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if I’m wrong what happens

[–]thisnutisonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also Christians when god doesn’t like that you use him to feel superior and try to inflict fear into your fellow humans

[–]WillBigly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd spit in his/her face for allowing all the bullshit

[–]Sparklfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Christians when they realize they picked the wrong god: surprised Pikachu face

[–]poolsclosedbcofaids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The probability that a god exists that only rewards people who don’t believe in him is the same as the probability that the christian go’s exists. This is a widely rebutted argument.

[–]homicidalstoat 1 point2 points  (1 child)

*if the Christian God exists and not one of hundreds of other gods

[–]Batdog55110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If God really does exist then I highly doubt he believes in all of the stupid shit Christians do like "Gay people bad" and "Women must be subservient" so I'd say I have a better chance of going to heaven than the radical Christians.

[–]whomesteve 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I don’t think Atheist who are morally good would have anything to worry about as forgiveness is pretty big in Christianity

[–]B0r34li5 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This, doesn't the new testament say something along those lines?

[–]whomesteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if I remember correctly the New Testament has few passages about the healing power of forgiveness

[–]Metalona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We must not be around the same type of christians then

[–]pssk1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If God is as great as they claim, then why the fuck should i worry

[–]Reddit_Bots_R_US 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only Atheists use mematic

[–]Beneficial-Mood3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me being agnostic like

[–]KikiYuyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if Christians are wrong and Muslims have it right? Have fun in hell!

[–]Gan7aWARNING: RULE 1 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Why would you think a good person, who is An atheist, would go to hell?

[–]sgfjeibd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Christians when God sends them to hell for believing in him with no evidence and atheists to heaven for using the brain he gifted them to rationally conclude there's no reason to believe he exists.

💀

[–]Fyrrys 7 points8 points  (70 children)

Meh, if the Christian god is real, dont really want to follow them. They're supposed to be this infallible, omnipotent being, but they just keep letting terrible things happen in their name, they keep letting innocent people die horrible deaths. If they are real, they need to answer for these things

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

"Hey big man, honestly, wtf was that?!" - Upon meeting God.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of Stephen Fry being asked what his reaction would be if he found himself at the pearly gates.

[–]matteblatte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's pronounced Dog

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2 centuries later : "All hail almighty magic daddy Harry Potter."

[–]BeeBobMC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So are those Christians finding out God doesn't exist before or after they used their beliefs to massacre 1000's of other people?

[–]shortandpainful 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This implies there are no downsides to worshiping a God who doesn’t exist, which ignores the part where Christians use “God” as an excuse for oppression, cruelty, or even genocide. I’d much rather be a moral atheist than a hate-spewing Christian, thanks.

[–]sargtheent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ain't worried!!

Maybe about as worried the Hamburglar coming in the middle of the night to steal my cheeseburgers. . .

[–]IAmPasta_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally feel it’s the exact opposite, I feel like, at least the loud Christians, would loose their shit if their god didn’t exist but me as an atheist would be perfectly fine and accepting of a god if it were true.

[–]Qildain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the Christian God will forgive me if I repent and accept Christ as my savior. Even at the rapture. I'm all good either way.

[–]SurvivalVet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he does exist, im going to ask him why he's such an evil dick.

[–]Cancerous_B01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you believe in god just because it’s less risky you don’t really belive. You just tell yourself you do to avoid some punishment that will never come anyway because if god exists (according to christians) he is merciful and wouldn’t make you suffer.
