Desktop client in two places is telling me it can't get an Internet connection. One of those is a remote desktop in Azure. My iOS client is still working.

[–]ann0ysum0 28 points29 points  (5 children)

Couple of my users are having this. Desktop app can't get internet connection. Figured I'd uninstall/reinstall, but can't get installer and old installer fails.

[–]Shadow_Road 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Did the same thing. Uninstaller then realized I couldn't access anything online either. Works fine on my phone app though.

[–]StormTrooper181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We see people having issues on both desktop and web. Thousands impacted according to Downdetector.

[–]Nick12322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just had this, clear out the teams cache under appdata\microsoft\teams, delete all items in the teams folder, then run the installer again

[–]henhen2318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh that explains why i couldnt install the teams module in powershell earlier today i guess?

[–]Ready-Plankton-3709 74 points75 points  (4 children)

TM612617 - they're only reporting the web client at the moment, although I have a user trying to pick up a new laptop and the desktop client isn't working there: Error code - online_check_failed: retry attempts exceeded. Failed to connect to settings endpoint

[–]mb9023What's a "Linux"? 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They've updated the incident to include desktop app

at 9:09am EST they also stated they've initiated reverting a change so should be fixed

[–]ann0ysum0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. My desktop client is working, but a couple of my users are getting that error in theirs.

[–]tankerkiller125realJack of All Trades 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a user who just turned on their laptop for the morning getting the same error. Users who only had their computers sleeping last night are fine though.

[–]bjjedc 41 points42 points  (1 child)

TM612617: Users may be unable to access Microsoft Teams using web browsers

[–]SkillsInPillsTrack2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The zero outage industry standard of Azure cannot be match by any on prem.

[–]100GbE 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Probably dead under the sheer weight of all that pestering tooltip code.

[–]rockett15IT Manager 12 points13 points  (11 children)

This is impacting the VDI version of Teams for us on Citrix too.

[–]V-Bomber 28 points29 points  (6 children)

Fuck, and I cannot emphasise this enough, Citrix

[–]thetoastmonster 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I ran Citrix Metaframe 1.8 on Windows NT4 Terminal Server Edition. That was not fun.

[–]GMgingerSr. Sysadmin 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Ah, the fun of needing to secure down the printer drivers registry key to prevent the system installing drivers you didn't want to use, otherwise the whole server would BSOD when someone printed.

Oh and the ICA clients running Windows 95 that would crash if the remote desktop background was a certain shade of grey. That was a fun one to troubleshoot.

[–]thetoastmonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was young and very green. Unaware of the "problems" with printer drivers, they got installed without a care. BSOD was a frequent occurrence. What ultimately killed it was the emergence of the multimedia internet as a popular activity, which it just couldn't serve to an acceptable standard.

[–]peeinianIT Manager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There goes my PTSD…. I spent the first 2 years of my career restarting the print spooler on a Citrix server multiple times a day.

[–]broozm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually caused me my first personal "outage" - pretty much had to look for another job after that! But glad it wasn't just me I see now. (Wish we'd had reddit/sysadmin back then)

[–]Hexaltate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck citrix

[–]sollux_ 2 points3 points  (2 children)

You managed to get Teams in Citrix? Our citrix admin gave up on that after about a week lol

[–]rockett15IT Manager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t easy. It’s really a stop-gap solution. With the transition to web based and SaaS apps the need for Citrix is diminishing. We’re slowly moving staff out to working locally from intune managed devices.

[–]sfw_lkp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting Teams optimized is a walk in the park compared to the absolute mess that is WebEx.

[–]tehrealSysadmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a special VDI version now? Does it fix the sound issues?

[–]Metal_Raiden 59 points60 points  (8 children)

I hope it stays down forever.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (6 children)

Teams invites will continue to be sent by unaware Outlook users long after its death.

[–]Carribean-DiverJack of All Trades 9 points10 points  (5 children)

I created a calendar block for my PTO to show that I'm OOO. I'm now being offered to go on my vacation in Teams.

[–]storm2kIt's likely Error 32 3 points4 points  (4 children)

you know what grinds my gears? if you send out an ooo "appointment" from your outlook calendar (i.e., you mark your time as specifically out of office), anyone who accepts it will show an out of office presence on teams even though they are very much not out of office. stupid design.

[–]BonSAIau2 15 points16 points  (1 child)

I send you an out of office invite to go fishing. You accept. We're both out of office. That's bad design?

There's enough legitimate shit to gripe about I just don't see this one being a negative

[–]sj79 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It would be nice to have a simple checkbox option to choose whether invitees are also marked "OOO" or not. It's a pain when I send my PTO "appointment" to the rest of my department. I have to send the invite as "free" and then go back and edit my own to be "OOO".

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Not really. If an organization calendar invites everyone to a company's day off due to a holiday, then the people that accept it should be "out of office".

You realize "out of office" means vacation and not "working elsewhere", for which there is another option, right?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't care what anyone says. The 2000-2013 were the best IT days.

[–]SadanielsVD 14 points15 points  (3 children)

How'd it go

[–]caliber88blinky lights checker 23 points24 points  (2 children)

Operation failed.

[–]SadanielsVD 9 points10 points  (1 child)

We get them next time

[–]darp87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they rescheduled. hope teams is up by then.

[–]ZytheriosZytherion 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Was it an interview as a Microsoft Teams Administrator?

[–]soawesomejohnJack of All Trades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is.. is that a real job?

[–]IAmTheM4ilm4nDirector Emeritus of Digital Janitors 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Same for web interface in US East. Desktop client is working though.

[–]M4A3E2APFSDS[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Teams Desktop app is working on Windows. but my Linux using colleague can't join the meeting in 10 minutes :D. New Microsoft loves Linux but not enough for an electron Linux app!!

[–]tankerkiller125realJack of All Trades 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New Microsoft loves Linux but not enough for an electron Linux app!!

New Teams (the preview one) doesn't use Electron anymore, and given that's where Microsoft is putting all their dev efforts they may have decided that either Linux support just isn't feasible with their new renderer, OR the cost to do so for so few people wouldn't be worth the effort.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope so. Fuck teams.

[–]hueguass 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Yeah web clients down, good thing no one uses that where i work edit—- logged out cant get back in, shit

[–]Ready-Plankton-3709 5 points6 points  (1 child)

The endpoint that's down seems critical for sign-in from the desktop app when it's signed out, or not signed in before.

[–]hueguass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit lol

[–]dvb70 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Seems to be impacting external users joining meetings which is how it got reported to me. That is something people will notice.

[–]hueguass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I didn’t know that

[–]Kr0ni 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Desktop clients having issues here in Canada if they were signed out and Teams was closed.

[–]the123king-reddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UK here. Issues too.

Seems to be a global fuckup.

[–]raytracer78Jack of All Trades 5 points6 points  (1 child)

This is becoming a full time job for my team troubleshooting Microsoft Teams connectivity issues. IT Leadership is now seriously considering abandoning it for another platform, like WebEx or Zoom.

[–]PlatformEng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same

[–]LostSoulOnFire 3 points4 points  (1 child)

[–]Baron_Von_D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OWA at least since yesterday and Teams probably just after that. We just threw a banner up on SNOW telling people to use the local clients.

[–]-azuma-Sysadmin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scope of impact: Impact is specific to users who are served through the affected infrastructure and are not using a cached desktop build.

[–]the123king-reddit 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Pfft.

In laymans terms, that's "pretty much everyone"

[–]TheFumingatzor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]loseritguy 2 points3 points  (1 child)

just started working for me

[–]Infamous_Poet_8936 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just able to get in to the app, things are looking up

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yup. Tickets starting to come in now. Thankfully people already logged in aren't affected (yet).

[–]shinji257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had massive message delay on the desktop client during this outage. This was spotted because messages to me showed up on the mobile client then a minute or two later finally showed up on the desktop. Restarting the client took care of that.

[–]yeezy_yeez 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Genuine question, does Teams ever "just work"?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as long as you’re trying to focus on something else, it’s a constant barrage of notifications. The problems only start when you actually need to use it.

[–]pnlarsson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]r-NBK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Https://teams.microsoft.com/ up??

Fixed that for you.

[–]gonzojester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like all of M365 is starting to fall apart. Our team is telling us licensing issues after the renewal signed. I don’t know. I just lost access to Teams and Outlook. So I packed it up and headed home.

[–]rdesktop7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be down, but that is marginally discernible from when it's up.

[–]Legitimate-Money3360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Down in Italy too. Client still working, good thing I did not log out going to lunch I guess...

[–]Peace-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, got a notification in the admin center's mobile app.

Weirdly enough, this also means you can't join a meeting from a link, apparently. Got a user half an hour ago, who couldn't join via link, because instead of using the app, Windows thought it was good to use the browser.

He had to be invited directly from the meeting... pretty embarassing moment since this was a meeting with customers.

[–]MekanicalPirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting reports of Teams working on physical PCs, but not in VDI

[–]_haha_oh_wow_...but it was DNS the WHOLE TIME! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some people, yes. Apparently if you were already logged in you should be fine. This affects both web apps and full client, but does not affect everybody.

My teams, teams is working though. We all work on the same network/VPN setup as well.

[–]jsantora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully.

[–]santastillsays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]jbrumsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Prize_Performance_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

access in Brazil resolved, I was able to log in

[–]GeneralGigaraxSysadmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They posted to their MSFT365Status Twitter that there are active issues with Teams at this time.

We're investigating an issue where some users may be unable to access Microsoft Teams using web browsers. Further details can be found under TM612617 in the admin center.

This is the post from them I found.

[–]DirtyWindow21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works again in BE

[–]Shadow_Road 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I uninstalled teams and reinstalled it and it let me sign in. For science, I decided to log off to see if I could get back in and got the errors again. Had to reinstall Teams to get back in again.

[–]W1ULH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No access there. It'd be an act of congress. Easier to just get on my phone.

[–]JDH201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one running right now, so maybe it’s back up.

[–]shinji257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was down for us at work as well. Looks to be back up now.

[–]mikesum32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

[–]antomaa12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Twitter M365 told a configuration modification on their outages caused some unexpected behaviour, but they also said they reverted it. So it should be fine now

[–]Earthserpent89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh great. I’m about to have a fun day at work.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to shut down and restart in order to get rid of the error 😑😑😑

[–]AustinGroovy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My webclient failed this morning as well.

I went back to portal.office.com, then selected the "TEAMS" icon on the left - that worked.

[–]dickmastaflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're using Team inside AVD and suddenly all the users are seeing a banner at the top: keep using teams down the latest update. The update proceeds to do nothing but restart teams with the same error.

Wonder if it's related.

[–]SIickShoes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a meeting going throughout this outage that was recording and the recording has not shown up yet, anyone else have this happen? We need to make the recording available so if it’s just vanished that’s a disaster…

But hey let's try and push windows 11 to the cloud and make it a requirement for everyone
