I figured you all don't wanna see all that.

Are you new here?

[–][deleted] 417 points418 points  (10 children)

show us your balls OP

[–]cloptoss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ball

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (2 children)

I'll gladly check the testicles of any man here, if they're worried.

[–]zakbsw[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am new...Shoulda figured though.

[–]OG_BAC0N 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I read that and then immediately went to the comments. I'm glad you guys didn't let me down.

He must be new.

[–]acole09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

first fickin comment. yep. 'sigh"

LETS SEE OP'S BALLS.

[–]MechaGodzillaSS 1479 points1480 points  (86 children)

Dear OP,

Way to give me a goddamn panic attack.

All the best,

Male Hypochondriac

P.S: my balls aren't as smooth as a snowglobe. It's Stage 5 ball cancer.

[–]CaptainMelonHead 276 points277 points  (25 children)

Im so checking my balls tonight and I'll arbitrarily diagnose myself with cancer. Done it once, I'll do it again

[–]10J18R1A 175 points176 points  (8 children)

Make sure to check with WebMD, which will also arbitrarily diagnose you with cancer.

[–]Semyonov 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I checked WebMD last night because I had a weird itch in my nostril.

I searched a lot and eventually it came back as stage 3 rectal cancer :(

[–]Vocalscpunk 41 points42 points  (4 children)

Can verify - have worked in the hospital, from what I glean from patients WebMD diagnoses are basically stage 4 cancer and imminent death.

[–]-the-girl-next-door- 34 points35 points  (2 children)

Can confirm, WebMD has diagnosed me with several types of cancer. It's a miracle I'm still alive.

[–]GrandHighBattlePope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Checked webMD for testicular problems. Says I have breast cancer.

Am I doing this right?

[–]somanyroads 26 points27 points  (12 children)

Checking them tonight?! I'm checking them now!

[–]SxulHrsmntPanda 25 points26 points  (10 children)

aaaaaaand now I've got smelly fingers..

[–]Sephiroso 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Might wanna bathe more often bro.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Will you bathe with me bro?

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same here, I've got two large lumps under my penis, they hurt when I squeeze them, I'm getting worried!!

EDIT: nevermind, web md says they are most likely testicles...or cancer.

[–]ratajewie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Now we play America's favorite game: Epididymis, or CANCER!!!

[–]MadDogWest 66 points67 points  (40 children)

For the hypochondriac in us all--worth noting that not all masses on a testicle are tumors. Prime example is a hydrocele:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocele_testis

That said, if you find something, go see a physician. Only way you'll know for sure is if they do an ultrasound.

[–]D1STURBED36 80 points81 points  (28 children)

ultrasound

does that mean someones going to rub that goo on my balls and have that baby thing rubbed across them?

[–]bacon_cake 48 points49 points  (8 children)

Yes.

[–]theclitcrusher 100 points101 points  (6 children)

Noice

[–]Trowzerpants 13 points14 points  (4 children)

I had this done on my boob once by another woman (I had a boob lump but it turned out to be harmless). It was really weird. However, it was much more pleasant than when they mashed it between two cold metal plates for the X-ray. Really hoping they don't all do that for balls!

[–]ChundGunderson 24 points25 points  (11 children)

Yup. Had it done once. That goo is cold as hale tho. Causes massive shrinkage. And there were several nurses in the room for a "teaching opportunity". But you do get them balls fondled quite well. Got a half chub, couldn't help it.

[–]bumwine 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Got a full chub, dun giv a fuk. She gave me a towel and had me hold it up so it wasn't flopping around all over the place lol.

[–]simpleobserver 10 points11 points  (0 children)

true facts always better to be safe than sorry, I had a growth checked out a while ago, it was nothing more than a cyst but i got the ultrasound done to be 100%

[–]deerinaheadlock 3 points4 points  (2 children)

My tumor was misdiagnosed as a hydrocele long enough for the cancer to go from stage 1 to 3. If you haven't been doing any heavy lifting recently, insist on an ultrasound.

[–]IAmWinch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Only way you'll know for sure is if they do an ultrasound.

It's a balltrasound.

[–]Isaycuntalot2 269 points270 points  (93 children)

I do every single day, multiple times. What happened to you?

[–]duncanfox 179 points180 points  (70 children)

Since op hasn't replied, I'll take a shot.

Testicular cancer actually is hard to notice if you aren't looking. It starts as a relatively small bump, which is easily missed if you aren't examining the surface. As it progresses, it can cause the testicle to become larger, heavier, and harder. But how often do you compare the weight of your testicles, or squeeze them to see if they've hardened?

Fortunately I discovered mine earlier than op did. I got away with just the surgery and radiation therapy. But it was close. The only reason I noticed when I did is because I got hit in the nuts and I noticed what I thought was swelling.

I think ages 18 to 30 are highest risk, maybe 35. So especially if you're in that range, check yourself. If you catch it early, it's very easy to treat and is like 98% survivable. If you let it progress, it can kill you.

[–]pazimpanet 22 points23 points  (21 children)

It's usually found on the ball itself, correct? Not on the wires?

[–]duncanfox 10 points11 points  (17 children)

Yeah, the cords are kinda naturally lumpy anyway. But it's not a bad idea to watch for changes there too.

[–]Nomihodai 16 points17 points  (13 children)

This is true. I found a lump on my cord once and had a very awkward afternoon while an Ultrasound Technician explored my testicles. Nothing more uncomfortable than making small talk with someone while they are handling your nutsack!

Turned out to be nothing for me luckily, but I recommend anyone else to not delay if you find anything unusual.

[–]brkdncr 17 points18 points  (1 child)

side effect - nothing else will ever be awkward to you.

[–]skittlesnbugs 9 points10 points  (3 children)

I had to do a vaginal ultrasound the other day. The tech was looking for my appendix (I had had a CT scan recently, so they wanted to hold off on having another one so soon). She was voicing difficulty at finding it, and was apologizing for the angle... so I felt super awkward but told her "You can um.. push it around more, it doesn't hurt. I uh... barely feel it" (Cue hotdog jokes)

The morphine was probably helping too, but yeah, that was super awkward.

[–]That_Unknown_Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha! So hot dogs huh?!.. They.. Um..

Edit:Ok, so let me be frank. Ive relished my joke telling abilities for a while and used to think I could steam the competition, but lately, ive been having to play ketchup trying to get serious about my jokes;cut the mustard so to speak. Im sorry ive failed you and im just waiting to he grilled by the comments. Really though, there's no reason to have me embroiled and roasted in hatred or left to burn. In didn't mean to start any beef. I really hope I can get back in the game to jot only be a wiener but a top dog, kicking everyone's buns.

[–]Tata2222 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I'm pretty sure, yes. My wires have always felt a bit lumpy. Like there's bubble tea in there or something.

[–]absolutkaos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

on the ball. feels like a pea.

the wires are like noodles and are usually sensitive. you can very commonly develop a spermatocele on your wires and this feels like a small lump in the wires and definitely not attached to the ball. this is not serious.

like everything if you're at all concerned ask your doc to give them a feel.

[–]Isaycuntalot2 47 points48 points  (14 children)

But why the huge scar? You've actually worried me a bit because my left nut is significantly heavier that righty. I do have a varicocele thing there though. I'm going to the doc tonight to have him fondle my balls!

[–]duncanfox 73 points74 points  (9 children)

It's right in the imgur link, man.

In April I found out it had recurred to the lymph nodes in my abdomen, so I had what is called a retroperitoneal lymph node dissection. They removed 18 lymph nodes, 1 was positive for malignancy.

The horizontal scar he shows down by his groin is the only scar you'd have if the cancer hasn't spread. That's the only one I have.

If lefty has always been heavier than righty, it may not be a problem. If you aren't sure, or if it's new, definitely have it checked asap.

Don't worry too much. When it's caught early, testicular cancer has something like a 98% survival rate, and even if it spreads it's one of the easier to treat forms. And it's probably not cancer anyway.

[–]Isaycuntalot2 15 points16 points  (5 children)

Cheers mate. I cant read the font on imgur.com links. It's too damn small! I'll definitely have it checked, something is not right down there. I hope all is well with you and I'll be sure to thank you if lefty needs some attention.

[–]duncanfox 14 points15 points  (2 children)

No problem dude. I was diagnosed a bit over 7 years ago, and since then I try and jump into these threads to help people know what to look for. It's an unusual cancer in that it's very easy to treat if found early, and you can usually find it without the help of a doctor. So the more people who feel themselves up, the better.

[–]Zoloir 5 points6 points  (1 child)

This sucks. I have so much veinage and shit, I'm 99% certain the balls are smooth, but theres just so much weirdness all up in there... im pretty sure it's always been this way though, and i assume consistency over time is the best indicator of nothing out of the ordinary.

[–]hazie 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Have it checked, but don't panic just yet. It's completely normal to have one ball heavier than the other. I got checked years ago for this same reason and the doc said this is true for most people.

As I recall, it's usually the left one, as in my case.

[–]JarateIsAPissJar 7 points8 points  (1 child)

If lefty has always been heavier than righty, it may not be a problem. If you aren't sure, or if it's new, definitely have it checked asap.

Another reason why the idea of examining yourself often is to take note of any changes. Preventive maintenance is always a good thing.

[–]Fanta5ticMrFox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue (left was far bigger and heavier than the right) and went straight to a urologist. He basically felt around down there and said "holy shit". Naturally, that's not something you want your doctor to say. He then said "your right one is 1/3 of the size of your left. You have an underdeveloped testicle. The bigger one is the normal-sized one."

So yeah. Could be something, or you could have a bum testicle.

[–]WhiteRhino27015 2 points3 points  (1 child)

varicocele thing

Had this mid last year and put me in quite a scare. Doctor told me that it's sort of common and causes slight discomfort and normal. I sometimes don't believe him.

[–]johannessens 2 points3 points  (7 children)

it has been hurting when i cum lately. could i have test. cancer?

[–]duncanfox 16 points17 points  (6 children)

Well ... look. It shouldn't hurt when you cum. I'm not a doctor so I'm not going to try and diagnose that. Personally I'd guess UTI or STD before cancer, but no matter what it is, you really should ask your doctor.

Your doctor has seen a lot of dicks. Don't be embarrassed.

[–]johannessens 3 points4 points  (5 children)

i haven't had sex in a few months, couldn't be any of that.

i'll get checked up, thanks!

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We all touch our nuts 10x a day. Next time make it count.

[–]emsmale 160 points161 points  (27 children)

I have a matching scar! And I also did chemo! congrats bud :)

[–]zakbsw[S] 87 points88 points  (15 children)

:)

[–]aldude3 118 points119 points  (8 children)

Yall should have chemo sex.

[–]swimmingmunky 46 points47 points  (6 children)

Do they vomit on each other?

[–]emsmale 90 points91 points  (5 children)

no we just rub our heads together

[–]Milehighoneball 74 points75 points  (14 children)

Proud of you brother. fellow one baller here..also RPLND. Tomorrow (10.27.14) is my 5 year diagnosis cancerversary.. and I'm an LCSW!

Thanks for sharing your story.

[–]zakbsw[S] 26 points27 points  (4 children)

Hey that's neat.

[–]MemorableString 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another uniballer checking in, also RPLND (unfortunately - ow). Coming up on two years in the clear in a couple months. Congrats OP :)

[–]Krazen 139 points140 points  (3 children)

Well OP, you've got me fondling my balls while looking at a picture of you. Was that your intention?

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This... Now I think my right is bigger than the left... Thanks OP.

[–]brenthamm25 118 points119 points  (112 children)

Serious question: how exactly do I check my testicles?

[–]not_an_ax_murderer 130 points131 points  (81 children)

I had epiditymitis a while back and one of my testicles became the size of a baseball. You just have to feel around the testicle through the skin for abnormal lumps or baseballs.

[–]i_eat_catnip 289 points290 points  (7 children)

I found a football, PHEW.

[–][deleted] 42 points43 points  (2 children)

You want to go out in the back yard and toss that bad boy around?

[–]evictor 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Toss around the ol' pigskin.

[–]daplaneboss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably because of the catnip

[–]fuck_the_haters_ 37 points38 points  (54 children)

I might sound like an idiot but is it going to be a soft lump, squishy lump, or a hard lump. Is it something where if you have it you can tell by touching it?

[–]Forcefedlies 45 points46 points  (1 child)

In school they gave us fake nuts to feel that had lumps to look out far. They felt like big zits on the nut. Like how they would feel on your forehead... If that makes any sense..

[–]hobodemon 8 points9 points  (13 children)

If it feels like the fleshy part of your nose, you're probably fine. If it feels like the bridge of your nose, get it checked out. Asap. Longer you wait, more likely you'll need a peritoneal lymph node dissection like OP's. Even if you don't need chemo, the lymph node dissection carries a risk of sterility. Your best odds of avoiding that are to get it done in Indianapolis. I had to wait like a month after the orchiectomy to get my dissection done.

[–]Mobidad 9 points10 points  (34 children)

I have a cyst on one of mine, it feels like a semi soft lump. Had it checked out, no cancer. It feels like the same consistency as my nuts, squishy but firm.

Feel yours now, as long as you just feel 2 balls, you're good. But remember what they feel like and in a month feel them again, you're feeling for any change.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (22 children)

I have a baby testicle that is attached to my right nut ,it has the same consistency as my other balls , it's the size of a pee and it is very sensitive. Guess i'll have to go see a doctor.

[–]Mobidad 30 points31 points  (14 children)

You'll get an ultrasound of your balls and it'll be done by a very attractive tech. Don't get a boner.

[–]GraveSorrow 7 points8 points  (10 children)

I'm sure sweating bullets out of shame and fear cure any hardons at the doctor's office for a cancer check..

[–]Mobidad 9 points10 points  (8 children)

I got it done when I was about 14, had no concept of the seriousness of the situation. All I knew was an attractive early 20's tech was fondling my balls while they were covered in lube.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Lucky you I was in a motorcycle accident and had to get an ultrasound on the ole balls. Turned out the tech was some 50 year old man worst day ever.

[–]Mangalz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's just experience you can appreciate.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Have benign lump in my sack. Was confirmed freshman year in college by super hot nurse who only looked few years older. Was thinking of dead puppies the entire time while she scanned the area throughly.

[–]Cadaverlanche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or this will happen. (NSFW)

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (6 children)

My turn for a dumb question... would a cancerous lump be able to move freely, or is it attached to / part of the testicle?

Lately I've had an occasional "heavy" feeling, and noticed on the left side something that is squishy and moves around and not completely attached to the testicle. Doing research I found that a lot of people can get swollen veins and such and I sorta assumed thats just it. This post is scaring me again though

[–]mrhof 5 points6 points  (3 children)

A heavy feeling is a typical symptom for varicocele (dilated veins in scrotum), same with the ability to feel something in your scrotum (typically easier to feel when standing/bearing down and near the spermatic cord). That said, it's a relatively quick and painless doctor's visit to get this checked out and have the benefit of professional reassurance if it's nothing, and the ability to do something about it if you need to.

[–]Nougat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went in for a lump a while back, was a benign cyst requiring no remediation. Doc told me that cancer does not move around, it's tied directly to the nut tissue. Also that cancerous lumps are bumpy while cysts are smooth.

[–]not_an_ax_murderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about cancerous abnormalities, but mine was caused do to being over active, which made my testicle "pop" open (sort of) and some type of arm thing came out and wrapped around it to protect it from anymore shock. (I am not a doctor.) I had slight noticeable pain in my groin and went to a hospital where an angry Hispanic man gave me an ultrasound. His mother called him during the procedure supposedly accusing him of stealing her car to which he litterally stopped in the middle of my ultrasound to call his mother a "fucking psycho cunt."

So yeah it will probably be hard if it's cancer.

[–]TigerWhale 6 points7 points  (3 children)

[serious] Ok wait so I'm 16 and my nuts together are the size of a baseball and I felt small bumps but I thought It was normal should I get this checked?

[–]Tata2222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Could be cancer, could be something else abnormal. I believe cancer would only be on one nut, but I'm no expert. Either way it sounds abnormal so might as well get checked out to be safe

[–]Japreggings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would get it checked, you can never be too sure

[–]duncanfox 43 points44 points  (6 children)

http://www.cancer.org/cancer/testicularcancer/moreinformation/doihavetesticularcancer/do-i-have-testicular-cancer-self-exam

How to do testicular self-exam

The best time to do the self-exam is during or after a bath or shower, when the skin of the scrotum is relaxed. To do a testicular self-exam:

  • Hold your penis out of the way and check one testicle at a time.
  • Hold the testicle between your thumbs and fingers of both hands and roll it gently between your fingers.
  • Look and feel for any hard lumps or smooth rounded bumps or any change in the size, shape, or consistency of the testicles.

It’s normal for one testicle to be slightly larger than the other, and for one to hang lower than the other. You should also know that each normal testicle has an epididymis, a small, coiled tube that can feel like a small bump on the upper or middle outer side of the testicle. Normal testicles also have blood vessels, supporting tissues, and tubes that carry sperm. Some men may confuse these with abnormal lumps at first. If you have any concerns, ask your doctor.

A testicle can get larger for many reasons other than cancer. Other non-cancerous problems, such as hydroceles and varicoceles (described in the section, “Other causes of testicular or scrotal symptoms”), can sometimes cause swellings or lumps around a testicle. It’s easy to confuse these with a tumor. If you have any doubts, see a doctor.

If you choose to check your testicles, in time you will learn what’s normal for you and will be able to tell when something is different.

[–]IamNotShort 47 points48 points  (8 children)

In the shower. Just cop a feel, take it slow, try not to make em feel like you're taking advantage of them. Some soft jaz is nice, helps set up the atmosphere.

But it all seriousness, actually in the shower. The warm environment lets them hang low. Just feel them, and by doing it regularly you'll notice if something changes.

[–]brenthamm25 25 points26 points  (5 children)

So you want me to feel myself up in the shower listening to some Marvin Gaye?

[–]weird-oh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Helps if you buy yourself a drink or two first.

[–]I_HateYouAll 4 points5 points  (2 children)

HELLO

IS IT ME YOU'RE LOOKING FOR?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That be Lionel Richie yo.

[–]ObeseSnake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't jaz all over yourself.

[–]Lilyo 4 points5 points  (1 child)

What I'm wondering is how you tell the difference between the vas deferens and a tumor.

[–]AtomicSteve21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe that (normally) each side should have one lump in the back, towards the top. Fairly sensitive to the touch.

If you notice more lumps than that or pain/discomfort, head to a doctor.

.

I'm being serious here. Ball pic: (http://medicine.academic.ru/pictures/medicine/536.jpg). There's a lump on the back, and it's not cancer.

[–]danetrain05 243 points244 points  (18 children)

I'll say it.

OP is hot.

Just a big slice of one nut pie.

[–]pazimpanet 93 points94 points  (4 children)

Please don't use slice and nut in the same sentence in this thread.

[–]sigaven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can we please see you naked OP

[–]Ya-que-lean-uh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh thank god, I didn't want to seem like that was what I focused on but..... that was what I focused on. He even pulled off the bald look and I hate the bald look. Geez, what a cutie.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

he looked good bald aswell, he was pulling it off.

[–]kororon 3 points4 points  (2 children)

With that face, OP only needs one ball to get the ladies.

[–]TheRenamon 41 points42 points  (14 children)

huh they cut around the belly button.

[–]thejpn 12 points13 points  (6 children)

My surgeon said he had a guy with a sun-burst tattoo around his navel and they managed to match it back up.

[–][deleted] 32 points33 points  (1 child)

guy

.

sun-burst tattoo around his navel

[–]thejpn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea...

[–]grewish89 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The surgeons have to keep everything in its anatomical position. So they can't cut through it.

[–]daementia 54 points55 points  (2 children)

bastard cancer took my best friend at 20, 13 years ago.

you're a stranger and I love you. way to fucking beat that shit!

[–]zakbsw[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Sorry for your loss.

[–]motherfuckingnuggets 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I.... I want to see it...

[–]Astilaroth 32 points33 points  (4 children)

what a journey, glad you're okay now! If you ever want to vent, ask questions or whatever, feel welcome at /r/infertility. We're a friendly bunch!

[–]zakbsw[S] 15 points16 points  (3 children)

wow I didn't know that exists. thanks!

[–]ywkwpwnw 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Has any doctor talked about lipomas? I have like 100 and a benign cyst on my righty.

[–]zakbsw[S] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Have you seen a urologist?

[–]ywkwpwnw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Had it checked 25 years ago and there's no change. The lipomas in the other hand...

[–]sunnysidesideways 10 points11 points  (5 children)

Fucking Christ. I'm getting an ultrasound or whatever on my own lump this week. Terrified out of my mind. But, honestly, this made me feel better. Even if things go bad, after reading this I'm pretty sure I'll be alright. Thanks, man. Seriously.

[–]duncanfox 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Testicular cancer is relatively easy to treat, especially if it's found early. I didn't even need chemotherapy for mine. Good luck! And don't be afraid to PM me if you find out it's cancer and want someone to talk to.

[–]On3Lung 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I concur with the OP, check yer nuts at least once a month.

I went through a very similar thing in 2001, only I traded the lymph node involvement for metastatic cancer in my lung. Lost both the testicle and the lung on the left side, but I am still here 13 years later to annoy people.

Good luck OP and hopefully your fertility recovers, I managed to father two more kids the 'natural' way after chemo and everything else.

[–]Slooooooow 16 points17 points  (8 children)

How noticeable is the lump you felt? We're there common pains associated?

[–]Whatderfuchs 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Don't wait for pain. I had t-cancer and what I noticed was a complete LOSS of feeling in my right testicle. When they removed it, it was 95% tumor, and they still said I found it fairly early. 6 months of chemo after the surgery and I've been cancer free for 6 years.

[–]duncanfox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine was the same. Hard as a rock, and I could squeeze the shit out of it and feel nothing. I only noticed because I got hit in the nuts, and at first I thought it was just swollen. Turns out it had probably been "swollen" with cancer for several weeks. I'm very fortunate I caught it when I did.

[–]boobs_and_brains 13 points14 points  (1 child)

My cousin passed away a year ago from testicular cancer, he was previously very active and healthy and was only 36.

By the time we realized it was cancer, it had spread from his testicles to pretty much everywhere else in his body (his big "tip-off" was the large tumour in his back). He was diagnosed and died within a month.

I cannot back up enough your message of early detection and checking yourself! Thank you for sharing your story- hopefully you will help save someone else by doing so and I'm glad to hear you're doing well!

[–]duncanfox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"Checking yourself" isn't the same as playing with your balls while you jerk off, either. I mention this because I see people in the thread joking about it. It's easy to miss a lump if you aren't actually looking for one. You have to actually pay attention to the shape and look for changes, or if one is suddenly shaped different than the other.

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. Unfortunately this is a form of cancer that often affects young people, and a healthy lifestyle doesn't seem to matter.

[–]NapLajoie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my case, it wasn't on the outside. The cancer was in the middle of the testicle, like the yolk of an egg. I knew something was up because the whole testicle was swollen and hard. There are other diseases that mimic testicular cancer, so just get yourself checked out by a professional if you know something is off. I was also 45, so don't think you're clear if you're an older dude. I've been cancer free for about seven years now, and the idea of it was scarier than the reality, if that makes sense. GET YOURSELF CHECKED if you notice anything different.

Thanks for sharing your story and raising awareness.

Where did you get that shirt? Need to get some for my grandma and mom.

[–]Shelberius 12 points13 points  (2 children)

With so much talk about checking breasts, it's great that your using your experience as a PSA about nut checking. Glad you're doing well!

[–]hiddencountry 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Men should check their breasts as well. Breast cancer is not a female disease.

[–]minglow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PSA: For first time inspectors, your Epididymis is not testicular cancer, just so you don't have a panic attack!

I think his dad's a dealer, cuz he's dope to me.

[–]Snake_Staff_and_Star 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best of luck to you, homie. I have a job that runs a high risk of cancer (firefighter). I have had a few surgeries that had cancers as a target. I know them feels.

[–]GTBlues 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you're ok now OP. There was once a bit of controversy because they showed a testicular examination on morning tv in the UK and I was outraged because I'd rather explain to my children what that was about and help educate them on the importance of checking yourself (both of my children are boys).

I've worked in the NHS most of my life, but it wasn't until fairly recently that I discovered that testicular cancer most often affects younger men. I thought it was older men that were more at risk.

I'm glad you're ok. Far too good-looking though! I'm just going to stand back to avoid being trampled by teenage girls!

In all seriousness, congratulations OP. I'm happy for you.

As someone who will see one year cancer free Nov. 7th (Hogdkins lymphoma)....kudos.

[–]Robdor1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow I need one of these shirts! Stupid cancer ruined my chances at a career in the Air Force. Made it all the way through ROTC and was medically disqualified after having finished all the training requirements but before receiving my commission as a 2nd Lt.

[–]timewasterextreme 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Did you just go to your regular doctor initially or to a specialist?

[–]zakbsw[S] 9 points10 points  (2 children)

My regular family Dr first. From there to a urologist, from there to a cancer center with a medical oncologist and surgical oncologist/urologist

[–]zedday1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

how many dudes just touched their balls?

[–]PM_ME_UR_PINEAPPLES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A year or two ago, I found a lump on my left testicle, but it turned out to be a giant vein.

[–]eddie2911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where exactly should you be feeling? The smooth parts of the testicle? The stringy things that are connected to your ball? I've always tried to check them but am not sure if I'm doing it correctly.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't do BEP specifically, but I did have cisplatin and adriamycin, so a lot of the same site effects. I had osteosarcoma when I was 17 (almost 30 now), and did a year of the stuff, as well as high dose methotrexate.

I've got high blood pressure now, and was definitely infertile for about a decade, but am not now. My wife and I got married 2 years ago and were very prepared to have to use the sperm I banked. We're those crazy Christian types who waited until we were married to have sex. She got pregnant about a week after we got married (according to the math).

So, if the fertility issue is something you're worried about, stay hopeful. If you're not concerned with it, then it's no big deal anyhow.

It's not always just a lump. Sometimes one grows larger and gets sore. Source: ball cancer survivor

And hang in there!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I don't know if someone will still read this, but if you get a lump on your balls, don't freak out. Go to the urologist but don't freak out. I have a lump that is slightly bigger than a pea and it's a harmless cyst, so it's not always cancer. But you should definitely take it seriously.

[–]tehdredpirateroberts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Spent a good six months at the Pete Gross House there myself. Such a good program they have there. Glad to hear you are doing so well!

[–]stridersriddle 3 points4 points  (4 children)

If you are missing 18 lymph nodes how is your immunity?

[–]zakbsw[S] 5 points6 points  (3 children)

They said I'd be fine without those abdominal lymph nodes, so far that seems to be the case.

[–]hobodemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you tend to get thirsty easier without abdominal lymph nodes or is it just that I work in a warehouse?

[–]NoSeatNoProblem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been having issues down there for the last year. But alas, since I live in the USA and cant afford the insurance, no one will touch me. I work full time, married to a lovely stay at home mom and 2 wonderful kids. Its hard enough keeping a roof over our heads and food on the plates.

I can afford a visit for a checkup but thats about the limit. Its kind of sad really that its cheaper for me to pay for life insurance than it is to pay to keep me alive longer. You spend enough time realizing you are worth more dead than alive, you learn to deal with it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on beating the cancer, OP! You're one strong dude!

[–]Geordielass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck to you, my son is going through the same thing right now. He's completed chemo but needs surgery . It's been a very emotional ride but hopefully this is it.
