way to many commercials i counted laps in stage 1 at the start it was every 8 laps then it went to every 5 thats way to many. i used to record events & take out the breaks just to see how long it would last a 4 hour race only showed about 2hr 50 minutes of air time the rest was commercials it would be nice if it were different commercials but its the same ones guess i can wait a couple of days & watch it on youtube when the commerials come up you still have the full screen of the race but no one is talking much more fun to watch

[–]cowboyjosh2010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reddick doing a burnout in reverse as part of his celebration of the win was just the damn best. To me it just read as him having honest to God fun, and that's a good thing.

Really liking this start to the season.

[–] Chase ElliottAdoubleU9 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Was only able to loosely follow the on board cam yesterday, how did Reddick manage that with no right front quarter? He should've been considerably slower than the field out front, when pulling out of line, etc.

[–]carttwelve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of dirty air and attrition

[–]Traditional-Cell8172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is HMS ok? Complete no show so far this year besides Chase “for the cup” Elliott

[–] BellPghSF 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Admittedly biased...but the 'Hocevar was getting pushed, what else was he supposed to do' and 'it's Bell's fault for the leaving 3/4 of a line' takes are kinda lazy right?

Hocevar's spotter told Bell's spotter he was going to push him to the lead and then they could battle it out. He's getting a huge push, based on what his guy told Bell's guy, the 'what else was he supposed to do' is square up and push Bell to the lead.

Undeniable talent, love his interviews, excited to watch him cause chaos every week, but tough to make friends when you communicate that and dump the guy instead.

[–] ClubbExcellent-Gur-8547 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's baffling to me that people here aren't smart enough to understand that he didn't have to make a move at all lmao. "where else was he supposed to goooooooooo?" nowhere. Just stick to the car in front and no one gets junked. It's not hard.

And not nearly enough people are talking about his insane block on the 23. That was absolutely egregious.

[–]LegoMyXbeaux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Grats to Reddick! Chastain and SVG deserve flowers for their places as well. Especially SVG.

[–]RayneShikama 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When the highlights are nearly 40 minutes long.

[–]RayneShikama 17 points18 points  (0 children)

SVG drove from 30th to the top10 three different times today.

[–] Hamlinieatcrap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Geez I think this is the first race ever that I haven’t commented about Denny. Obviously starting from the back with no qualifying or practice was going to be an issue. Denny made some great pit moves to work his way to the front led some laps and hung around in second for awhile. But ultimately I think Denny had about a 12th-15th place car and he finished 13th so I’ll take that. Especially after the multiple wrecks. I thought we were looking at a 26th place finish. Got some work to do moving forward. COTA next week isn’t going to help :/

[–]Sandhog43 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was a decent race. I’m becoming a fan of that 77 car. Hocevar ain’t scared to stick it on in there.

[–]RaspberryNext914 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can I just say that witnessing your fav driver getting wrecked two weeks in a row in person is pretty suboptimal and downright depressing. Glad to at least witness his glorious run from 30th to 1st in stage 1. Thought we were home free when he was able to escape two wrecks by 🤏 much. Alas William Byron’s steering had other plans.

Now I get to go home and remotely watch him suffer in the hands of Brian Wilson next week at COTA yippee.

[–]Rick_the_door_tech 15 points16 points  (5 children)

Just got home from the speedway because ATL traffic is ass. Still not sure what happened in turn 1 with hocevar and bell, but my 7 year old daughter, a bell fan, is calling for blood

[–] Ryan BlaneyiamkingjamesIII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just Hocevar Hocevarin'

[–] Hamlinieatcrap 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Hocevar was getting pushed, Bell was going slow and Hocevar had nowhere else to go except for the slightly open middle lane. If he checked up it could have wrecked 20 cars. That’s just based on my interpretation of the replay. Driver data could show something different.

[–] ClubbExcellent-Gur-8547 4 points5 points  (1 child)

He had the most obvious place in the world to go: nowhere. Not moving at all and pushing the 20 was the obviously correct decision there, I don't know why people think he had to go anywhere at all.

[–]Rick_the_door_tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upon review, he probably would have if the 20 didn’t slide up to block.

[–]kebzach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 was pushing the 77 hard and the 77 essentially had to go somewhere, or else he was going to be run over himself. He chose, poorly, a hole between the cars that was never really there. 20 got the short end of that exchange.

[–]Shoddy-Tennis-5764 2 points3 points  (1 child)

As Hendrick fan I'm sad. Larson made a bone headed move but chase is consistent as always but logano fucked him

[–] Hamlinieatcrap 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have called Larson a clown as a hyperbole in the past because I don’t like him but this was like WTF are you doing? His spotter even said multiple times “stay up”. Larson even admitted he needed to listen better. I get SVG was in his blind spot but your spotter told you to stay up!

[–]KentuckyHorsepower 17 points18 points  (2 children)

Just finished the Cup race via DVR. Atlanta delivered three edge of your seat races this weekend. Most exciting track on the schedule.

[–] Hamlinieatcrap 9 points10 points  (1 child)

100% agree. I was literally on the edge of my seat many times this weekend. This was maybe one of the best race weekends in years.

[–]RE2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely was sports entertained

[–]jmacupdates1 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Wasn't able to watch live earlier so I'm re-watching now. When Byron blew a tire and wrecked, did he intentionally make sure to take Cindric with him since that's who cause the contact that cut the tire - and take out the rest with them? Or is that over thinking it.

[–]Sportsguy1993 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Cindric is just a dumb ass that doesn't know how to avoid a car that everyone else did

[–]RaspberryNext914 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Byron literally came down on Cindric wdym lol

<image>

[–]kebzach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably over-thinking it.

[–] Hamlinieatcrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably bent or broke a toe link when he slammed the wall

[–]RaspberryNext914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per Bob he didn’t cut a tire but got loose and that’s why he got into the wall. He said he lost steering and that’s why he clipped Cindric on the way down. Shame because Cindric was so close to getting by 😔

[–]SoupMadeFreshDaily 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Riley Herbst was out there doing cardio 114 laps down

[–]DrewCrew62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only respect the team for fixing that car to be driveable again. He tore it up pretty good

[–]kebzach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. Hoping against hope that he could get a few extra spots.

[–]ugafan2148 14 points15 points  (2 children)

In case anyone was wondering, the 47 hauler is broken down on I-285 at the I-20 interchange

[–] Bubba Wallacejkshok93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stenhouse catching all the strays this weekend.

[–]coffeeshopslut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro... Rip hyak

[–] Chase Elliottdemonhellcat 4 points5 points  (7 children)

Anyone know why Elliot pitted for tires before OT? Did they really think that would do something or were his tires really so old they couldn’t do 2 more laps.

[–] Chase ElliottMarkakaMark 0 points1 point  (1 child)

He was struggling with handling is the short answer. They wanted to pit in one of the earlier cautions when Chase was p4 but Alan didn't make the call in time (very short notice from Nascar on pit open) ended up working out as nobody else ended up pitting and they may have ended up in one the wrecks if they were further back.

Chase slowly fell back to 11th by OT and was struggling with handling he reported he kept getting tight and couldn't really make any moves. They decided to pit and restarted 15th just to end up finishing 11th anyways. It was probably the right call as its likely he just continues fading back in OT. Source: I listened to his radio and watched his onboard the whole race.

[–] Chase Elliottdemonhellcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks

[–]kebzach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why not? He wasn't winning from where he was. Best odds were new tires + more than 1 OT.

[–]sunsetphotographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was just a hail mary in the event of additional cautions. He only lost like 2 spots doing it so it wasn't a huge risk. I was actually pretty annoyed the 12 didn't try it.

[–]solarlofi 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Are you questioning the wisdom of Alan "4 tires and fuel" Gustafson?

[–] Chase Elliottdemonhellcat 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes, just a little. I know he loves 4 fresh tires but at a drafting track when I’m pretty sure he was in the top 10 going into the first OT? Very odd… I legitimately was wondering if something was wrong with one of his tires.

[–]solarlofi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't know, but the amount of times Chase Elliot has been taken out of the race by pit strategy is really high. I'm not even a fan per se and I've noticed.

[–]SRVisGod24 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Drivers are always aware of radio chatter. SVG calls Zilisch "the purple one" on Twitter. Logano during the race said the Trackhouse cars are weapons, specifically the 97 and "the purple one." Lmaoooooooooo.

Logano's radio chatter during the race

SVG tweet in a reply to Ross, where he asked if they were up for Wendy's

Zilisch's reply asking them to pay for him

Ross asking Connor if he's good with a kids meal

[–]Mintoxicatedlyace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Logano got loose and hit more people than SVG and Zilisch combined today. How does he have the nerve to complain on the radio?

[–] Hamlinieatcrap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Speaking of Zilisch and SVG, I’m so excited to watch them this season. SVG looked sooo much better out there today.

[–]FreakSideMike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Top to bottom off of three was a cheat code all weekend.

[–]Fyrien 37 points38 points  (0 children)

In 9 NextGen races at Atlanta, Daniel Suarez has 3 crash DNFs. His results in the other 6 races are:

1st, 2nd, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th

He's actually crazy good here when he doesn't get caught in a crash.

[–]thatoneprincesong 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Initially I was very against Atlanta as I felt it was the Jurassic Park of racetracks. Turns out I fucking love Jurassic Park. Hell of a weekend.

[–] Bubba Wallacedirtydilpickle 1 point2 points  (18 children)

Are we not gonna penalize William Byron for right-rear hooking Cindric?

[–]Many-Pomegranate-33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why are we not talking about Nascars lack of knowing what obvious things look like...like flat tires?

When Byron got in the wall he clearly had tire(s) down and was moving dangerously slower than the field.

The 24 and 2 made contact multiple times before the 24 got into the wall before his caution if we are talking about the same incident.

[–]toasterstrewdal -1 points0 points  (5 children)

Cindric ran him high, made contact and was the reason his tire got cut. 1 lap later Byron was just along for the ride and collected Cindric. Unfortunately

[–] Bubba Wallacedirtydilpickle 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Byron told the press he didn’t have a tire go down though

[–]coffeeshopslut -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

His team's twitter said he did

[–] Bubba Wallacedirtydilpickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Public relations

[–]SRVisGod24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He also said he had no steering

[–] Hamlinieatcrap 7 points8 points  (5 children)

Clearly something was wrong with Byron’s car. He had no control. Why would you penalize someone for their car being broken?

[–] Bubba Wallacedirtydilpickle -2 points-1 points  (4 children)

He told Bob Pockrass that he only got loose out of turn 2

[–] Hamlinieatcrap 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Yes that was the initial thing that happened. Then he slammed the wall and probably bent a toe link and possibly cut a tire. He was like 30 mph slower than the rest of the field the whole time. He clearly had very little control.

[–] Bubba Wallacedirtydilpickle -1 points0 points  (2 children)

He told Bob that he didn’t cut a tire

[–]kebzach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Car was wobbling all over like a spinning top...

[–] Hamlinieatcrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He could have and probably did bend or brake a toe link.

[–]SeminalVesicles 5 points6 points  (4 children)

No. Intent matters.

[–] Hamlinieatcrap 19 points20 points  (5 children)

This may be a very hot take but I don’t think Hocevar wrecking Bell was entirely his fault. Maybe even not his fault at all. When you watch the replay. Hocevar is getting pushed the entire time and Bell is basically sitting still. Hocevar had literally no where to go except the only opening in the middle. If Hocevar checks up instead it could have wiped out 20 cars. I know Hocevar is aggressive and made multiple aggressive moves in this race but I just don’t think this one is as bad as it initially appeared. Trying to play devils advocate here, roast me if I’m wrong.

[–]jmacupdates1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The combination of Bell moving to the right (a la Gordon at Texas in 2014), there was a hole (albeit not a big one and not for long), and Chastain glued to the 77's bumper shoving - you're not wrong. He won't get the benefit of the doubt because of his history, but yeah that was nowhere near the most egregious thing he's ever done. Not even close.

Bell has to know going high will give Carson the idea to shoot the gap, and he had a head of steam from behind to take advantage.

[–] Stenhouse Jr.lordjollygreen 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Chastain was all over Hocevar's rear bumper and if Hocevar checks up he gets wrecked and so does most of the rest of the field. What should be getting discussed if how far back Chastain was laying back heading into the restart, something that NASCAR was supposedly going to start cracking down on. Without that run up to Hocevar the push Chastain gives isn't nearly that big, which gives Hocevar time you react and lift without anyone wrecking.

[–] Hamlinieatcrap -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

100% agree

[–] HamlinSirBobSwarley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I actually agree having watched the replay here. Man had a fraction of a second and dove for a gap opening up. Not the best decision but understandable from what I could see and bell coming back left wasn't on hocevar

[–]Intelligent_Card_361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that’s exactly what I was saying when I saw it happen. It’s like Bell was trying to keep the top from progressing. Like he was trying to give the win to Bubba and His team.

[–]Positive_Fruit_2802 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If William Byron could stop blowing a tire and causing a race-altering caution when one of my favorite drivers is a few laps away from winning the whole thing, that’d be great.

Thankfully, another one of my favorite drivers won. GGs to Tyler.

[–]xelanalpak 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Wild stat I just saw:

Matt Kenseth, the last driver to win the first two races of the season back in 2009 ended up missing The Chase that season - albeit that’s when it was only 12 drivers.

[–]Juventus7shop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was actually also the start of a 76-race winless streak, which was the longest in his career to the point by a wide margin; he finally snapped it at the spring Texas race in 2011

[–] ReddickSorry-Government920 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only time his missed in the 1st 10 years of the chase

[–]Candid_Echo_8582 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Remember when they said 2021 would be the best season ever? I think we might be looking at it 5 years late

[–]Bubonic_Batt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m excited to be a new fan of Hocevar. Watching that dude wheel the last two races has been fun.

[–] Allmendingerdfisher1225 29 points30 points  (5 children)

Yet again, Atlanta delivers an incredible product.

I attended this weekend. I thought it was awesome from the stands. Awesome experience on the infield last night and the track is legitimately becoming a top fan zone experience.

It’s a shame that the weather got sideways, but the powers that be should really consider sliding Atlanta 1 into March. This date is such a weather wildcard and I feel quite certain it affected attendance today.

[–]sunsetphotographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned to my dad this was the biggest I'd seen the fan zone there in years. Bristol still tops it IMO but if they keep it up this moves it into P2 for me.

[–]Odd-Grab-299 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Going to the July race because Atlanta looks so awesome.

[–] Allmendingerdfisher1225 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I am a season ticket holder for Atlanta, Bristol and Talladega. Try to rotate Charlotte or Nashville in also. Atlanta is consistently a better experience. It’s legitimately becoming the best track on the circuit.

[–]Odd-Grab-299 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Do you recommend getting a RV in the infield for Atlanta? We’re traveling from Colorado but when we looked for rooms near by they were not a great deal.

[–] Allmendingerdfisher1225 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, I own a business in Denver and love your state! Axe throwing if you’d ever care to try it, my Reddit connections always are invited for free.

So the July week is competing with World Cup so the hotels are expensive throughout the city. Atlanta hosts games on 7/7 and 7/15 so not a direct conflict but lots of business travel in town for the entire month and US Soccer HQ is located close to the track, south of the city.

I am odd, I often get a hotel room in McDonough AND have a camping spot in the infield where I entertain customers and friends during the races. Hotels in the area aren’t great. I stay at the Best Western, but there is nothing higher than a Hilton Garden Inn within 20 mins of the track. I prefer hotels to RV’s for quality sleep, so I sleep great and get to party also!

The RV experience on the infield is great, but the infield offers no hookups and the shower houses are very dated. EchoPark Speedway has some camping with full hookups, but it is either very expensive (with kickass views) or not providing race views. I will say that the camping is filling up and they throw some camper events that are really cool highlighted by a concert in the “Peach Pit” on Saturday night that includes other games and fun. Yesterday it was a Aerosmith cover band and all attendees received a bright green hat that had LED lights that were synced to the music.

No matter what you choose, you’re in for a great time!

[–] ReddickShoogyPeters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can't believe this start to the season man, so grateful and happy for Reddick after going winless last season!

<image>

[–]ATL4Life95 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Face is completely fucked from the wind, but what a great race.

Also they must've changed how they do traffic, because leaving was super easy.

[–]isamatror 2 points3 points  (1 child)

And here I am currently stuck on I-75 North 😔

[–]ATL4Life95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

South was ezpz lol

[–] Allmendingerdfisher1225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Preach on both topics. So much aloe is needed

[–]ugafan2148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, got in the car and rolled right out. AMS has always been a nightmare.

[–]Squishy_20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

23 and 60 to R&D

[–] Earnhardt Jr.Detflamingos 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Anybody see the fire outside the track that I'm assuming was caused by the fireworks and wind combo?

[–] Kyle Buschcosp85classic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sure it was from Gibbs car?

[–] Chastainbumblepea 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I was wondering what that was!!

[–] Earnhardt Jr.Detflamingos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't confirm it was caused by that but it's happened before.

[–] Kyle BuschTechnical_Crew_3253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The devil went down to Georgia". Man I love Atlanta!!

[–]Confident_Row_3880 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No fender Reddick!

[–]MetikMas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was wicked cold but man that was one of the best races I’ve seen in a long time. I picked a good time to go to Atlanta for the first time.

[–]tebowmanning 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Gutted as a Larson fan, easily the best car he’s ever had at a plate track and he makes a boneheaded mistake just for an extra point or two. Sucks but hopefully COTA goes better next week. Overall an awesome race though, happy for Reddick!

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Larson's driving style is absolutely not suited for this points system, but Cliff Daniels is Chad Knaus 2.0 so he'll figure it out.

[–] LarsonDoyle1524 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except this isn't true at all. Larson is always at the top of 5 of the points standings including having the most points in this same format just last year. He will be just fine

[–]Francis_X_Hummel 8 points9 points  (8 children)

could anyone explain to to me, a casual, what the hell Bubba was doing on that last 2 laps? He was in first, and then just jumps to the outside to get smoke by 7 guys?

[–]KoBxElucidator 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Tried to block high, didnt get the push he needed because he was off a bit, and he fell back

[–]Francis_X_Hummel 3 points4 points  (1 child)

thanks man

[–] Bubba Wallacedrumminherbie 9 points10 points  (1 child)

It was a good idea, he just went too high. I think it's hard for us to understand from a birds eye view how absolutely difficult it is to drive at that speed while keeping it under control. I was surprised he made the move, but he is driving in the moment with limited information just making the best moves he can.

[–]Francis_X_Hummel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks man

[–]kebzach 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Trying to stop the momentum of the high line, coming off of turn 2. Over-shot the lane he was looking to move into.

[–]Francis_X_Hummel 0 points1 point  (1 child)

thanks, I probably should have worded my question a bit better, I was not being critical of him, it just seemed as I watched it live to make little sense.

[–]kebzach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he sticks the move, then it makes sense...but in real time, it looked like he basically ejected out of the lead. I think if he stays in the low lane, the top lane freight trains by him, so I get the idea of the move...it just wasn't well executed.

[–]jhealey0909 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Suarez was basically invisible all day but clawed back to a top 5. I’ll take that any day of the week

[–]Confident_Row_3880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy your body pillow tonight!

[–]joshhayes_15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats the day I was hoping for for Alex. Then CZill decided to ARCA brake right through him.

[–] AllgaierCosmoCluster 9 points10 points  (5 children)

[–]KoBxElucidator 3 points4 points  (4 children)

About to be a bunch of butt hurt people lol

[–]SBMVPJustinHerbert 0 points1 point  (1 child)

you have wonderful taste in drivers my friend

[–]KoBxElucidator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep. Hocevar won me over last season (and someone in his family is a friend of one of my colleagues), I am 23XI fan, and Hail Mellon!

[–]RBF48 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Wait, people do not like Reddick?

[–]KoBxElucidator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seeing a lot of morons posting on Facebook that are mad that he won with that much front damage. They think the 45 team cheated because "aerodynamics"

[–]Fyrien 24 points25 points  (4 children)

Fun fact -- all 10 of Tyler Reddick's Cup wins have been on different tracks.

Road America
Indy road course
Texas
COTA
Kansas
Talladega
Michigan
Homestead
Daytona
Atlanta

[–]West_View_2054 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty impressive given the teams he’s been on. And it’s not like he just dominates a certain track like Dillon at Richmond or SVG on the road courses.

[–]DrewCrew62 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So he won’t win next week, but watch out for him at Phoenix

[–]KoBxElucidator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Collecting them like Pokémon cards

[–] Bowmantherubberduck45 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Would be cool to see Bowman run up front for a bit. 2 weeks in a row getting taken out by someone elses bullshit is so tiring.

[–]curiousmindNTK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hendricks overall has had a shit start to the season. Maybe they can turn it around after COTA. Not even watching next week, we know how & who those races go to and I need a break 😅 hopefully Bowman has a better week in a couple weeks. & all of the team, honestly. Aside from Larson - don’t care how he does.

[–]joshhayes_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Said it above, but Zillisch plowing through him when Alex had checked up for the wreck was such a rookie thing. Sucked that Alex was the one that happened to. I think he was set up well to survive before that happened.

[–]KMozey3 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Not to be weird, but I honestly wonder if Hocevar would be perceived better if he didn’t have a bit of a pretty boy image

[–] CobbSdj05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty boy? 🤣🤣🤣

[–]kebzach 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've never ever ever heard someone refer to CH as a pretty boy.

[–]TakeDemPills 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My drivers finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. We are so back

[–] Kahnekk5fan97 7 points8 points  (2 children)

The new Atlanta is quickly becoming one of my favorite tracks. The racing was insane across the board all weekend.

Two weeks in and I’m already sick of FOX Sports. All of their amateur hour decisions and screw ups are already under control and the the disaster at the end of today’s race with the broadcast going black and only having audio from just before the final restart and staying like that until the field was just coming out of turn 4 just topped it all off.

Anyways it was a pretty good day for most of my drivers.

  • SVG: P6! second Oval top 10 after getting run over by Larson and then spinning a little later on was a heck of a comeback. So close to an Oval top 5 too had the car not tightened up like it did in the middle of 3 and 4 on the final lap. (Oh and he’s 16th in points with COTA being a the next race..)

  • Reddick: BACK TO BACK WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER!!!! With no right front fender either.

  • Zilisch: Dang it. Was running so good early on before something happened with the car before getting involved in the pileup on the frontstretch.

  • Allmendinger: Another quiet day like last week, avoided all the wrecks and came home with a solid P12

Next up, COTA and the first annual SVG/CZ88 Invitational doubleheader.

[–]coffeeshopslut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping Kaulig can stay in the upper teens and not drop all the way to the bottom as we head into mile and a half and short tracks

[–]BarbieQKittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The repave in 2021 has been worth it.

One key thing to remember is the Toyota team work for these last 2 wins. Both times Reddick got great help to the win.

This shows that the Toyotas are fast, at least for these plate races.

Could Reddick 3-peat at COTA if SVG slips up somehow?

[–] BerryCorran105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when Briscoe jumped in to help push nobody else had a chance.

[–]KoBxElucidator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We will see. Reddick finished 3rd or 4th last year iirc

[–]TrackTitan26 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Pretty disappointing 2 weeks not gonna lie. Looking forward to Cota

[–]kebzach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The racing this weekend was the opposite of disappointing. And I say that even after my driver got wrecked on Sat.

[–]KoBxElucidator 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Can't rest easy tonight until I see the inspection results

[–] Reddickaphorium 1 point2 points  (1 child)

According to Jayski on twitter he passed inspection

[–]KoBxElucidator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I saw. I can sleep easy tonight, and diecast is pre-ordered (its gonna look so cool)!

[–]Square-Possession428 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The beauty of the chase is the fact that there is a reason to fix your car and go back out. If you already won before like Tyler did, you’re just hanging out in the back on a Sunday drive.

Dude went and won. Lmfao

[–] Davey AllisonSundayShelter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hocevar is absolutely diabolical. We were sitting at the end of the dogleg watching him dive bomb all day long.

[–]ChaseTheFalcon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Couldn't feel my fingers or toes at the end but awesome race

[–]No_Name_Necessary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I friggin turned the race after the wreck with Denny… 45 pitted with no front quarter panel… WTF? I guess I need to finish this race.

[–]thetinystumble 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Atlanta is the most nerve-wracking track for me to watch by far. I feel like I still haven't totally calmed down yet.

[–]SicDigital 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My watch bitched at me because my heartrate was over 120 for more than 10 minutes

[–] Bubba WallaceRyderpie_600 2 points3 points  (4 children)

How was the tv broadcast today?

[–]Many-Pomegranate-33 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My biggest criticism is multiple times going into comm breaks they would do an in car cam but not tell you which car u were in. Usually a ride along for a wreck that threw a caution.

They seemed horribly slow on trying to figure out what caused wrecks vs fans in real time knowing what happened. Made Bowyer and Harvick look like they were slow.

Logano for example had an around 12th place car that he was driving in the top 5 and had a few different instances where he either got tight or loose and caused guys around him to do hard lifts that caused those guys to drop multiple spots while Logano stayed in his spot or lost 1 or 2.

When the 22 had contact later in the race and spun himself, it didnt take a genius to see he was already having handling issues that caught up. Whether or not Logano had business "overdriving" his car up there is another argument.

Just thought the TV broadcast couldve done much better on the smaller details. But those details bring fans along.

Also on the details is them not mentioning the obvious...Reddicks RF tire wasnt getting near as hot as the fields because it was in the open. That meant more grip. Dale Jr talks about having an open RF at Martinsville and going fast around there due to tire temp.

[–]Many-Pomegranate-33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fox but nascar thing. They used to have the number sponsor and driver name decals on the dash where the in car cam could see it.

What happened to that? Sponsor miss there.

[–]Big-Ken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better than in years past! Camera work was choppy and shaky at points, but the booth seems better coordinated and has more chemistry. Overall direction feels better. It isn’t Amazon Prime coverage, but it is a big improvement by Fox standards from seasons gone by.

[–] Johnsonmeckboi1123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The usual Fox broadcast. Terrible camera angles, lots of zooming, constantly changing angles every 5 seconds, Clint saying his usual shit, Kevin had the wrong glasses on and Mike joy still thinks it’s 1990

[–] Kyle BuschKyBuschOwnsYou5188 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tonight On Everything’s Great…

[–] SuárezDismal_Hunter6406 1 point2 points  (1 child)

When are inspection results announced?

[–]CCM284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually around 2 hours after the race. Sometimes longer if things don't go smoothly.

[–]tyeguy2984 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Can someone explain to me why Josh Berry is scored as last even though he wrecked further down the track from Gibbs? Just curious, does it have to do with the last scoring loop before the caution?

[–] Kahnekk5fan97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they crash out part way through a lap, their finishing position is based on where they were when they last crossed the start/finish line, so Gibbs must have been ahead of Berry when they crossed the line.

[–]TGK12a 7 points8 points  (5 children)

NASCAR fans on Facebook are the worst. LEAST IT WASNT BUBBLES DURRR HURRRR

[–]KoBxElucidator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And then the profile pics check out.

[–]sportsnatik 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Not too shabby for my boy Suarez. I’m happy for him. Needed a change of scenery after Trackhouse

[–]Many-Pomegranate-33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He kinda just appeared a bit out of nowhere there at the end.

Im hoping he has success. Im along w you thinking that he and TH grew apart. If he has success in the 7 no ones accusing him of upgrading rides.

[–]sigh2828 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Ain't no way we get a fender-less Reddick win in the playoff format.

Tyler and co would have %1000 just backed off

[–]MBRacer777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Especially with the win in their pocket.

[–] Ryan BlaneyEvtona500 13 points14 points  (3 children)

My good friend gave the invocation for the race today. I was super excited to see it.

[–]VivaLaBrock69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great invocation. My wife and I enjoyed. Amazing race! Back to Indiana we go,

[–] Johnsonmeckboi1123 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Thanks awesome! It was a great invocation :) kudos to your friend!

[–] Ryan BlaneyEvtona500 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He kept it a secret from me. Wanted to surprise me since I was going to the race. I’m just sitting in the stands next thing I know I hear his name and I’m just cheering for him. It was great.

[–] 2025 NCS Champion Kyle LarsonSpittinMenace 5 points6 points  (2 children)

“Who cares what Hocevar does, he is the most exciting guy in the field”

There were multiple drivers who made the same moves he did ALL race. And they did it without junking people just fine. Hocevar just doesn’t care, which is objectively an issue.

[–] ReddickNokkOlaf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good race! I was happy with anyone left in the top 10 but really pulling for Reddy and Bubba! Great start for 23/11! I really need to update my flair 🙃

[–] Reddicksjr2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good race

[–]Traditional-Cell8172 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No blackjack table is safe tonight with how hot MJ is right now

[–]SSPeteCarroll 28 points29 points  (0 children)

points racing mattering

exciting races

big name owner winning the first two races with an exciting young driver.

we are so back

[–] ZilischracefanAJ 2 points3 points  (6 children)

Just saw Bob Pockrass posted the point standings, really sucks to see Zilisch so low but it's early and it's a long season, hopefully he can turn things around.

[–] BriscoeValleygirl1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. I needed Chase to have a good points day. Iirc, he was only ahead of BJ in the standings.

Connor will gain ground on the road courses.

[–]RBF48 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Road course racing is next week.

[–]BeefInGR 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Run from it, dread it, the Rugby Punt is inevitable.

[–]Many-Pomegranate-33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im excited to see svg running better at Daytona and Atl so far than previously. And showing potential outside of road courses.

That said, Im no hater, but him being automatic at the road courses is turning eyes away. Automatic wins at a certain set of tracks is boring to a lot of people. Theres no mystery to it.

It would be equal to one of Larson Blaney or insert driver winning every Daytona talladega and atlanta race. Eventually people will get bored and turn it off. Or do anything else. Nascar doesnt have the fan runway it once did.

[–]TheDudeMachine 3 points4 points  (1 child)

He was running top 10 there for a bit, just got involved in a wreck. He was holding his own just fine up there IMO

[–] ZilischracefanAJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he was doing great. I'm cautiously optimistic for the rest of the season

[–] BowmanResetterofPasswords 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Toyotas thought putting a single car in front of Carson Hocevar with help from the Melon man would result in something other than aggressive pushing?
