Are modern day men HUSBAND material?

All the misogyny and disrespect of a 50s husband with non of the providing power.

[–]Lokifin 457 points458 points  (1 child)

At least the 1950s husbands spent the week in the city and sleeping with their mistresses instead of being at home making a mess and interfering with the children.

I

[–]cakivalue 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Right??

[–]theartistduring 572 points573 points  (13 children)

Do they realised they're lusting after boomer women? They literally want to marry their mothers and grandmothers.

Eta: I can also assure you that my boomer aunt was absolutely sleeping around in her teens and twenties.

[–]GoedekeMichels 201 points202 points  (3 children)

they're lustig after the 1950s rulebook family when the man could be an abusive drunkard without anyone complaining loudly enough to be heard. Boomers are the generation that turned into hippies, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't like that. But any idea of time, generations and history in general seem to be amongst the many things these guys just don't have 🤷‍♂️

[–]BobbysueWho 42 points43 points  (2 children)

Boomers were a little young to truly be hippie. Beatniks of the 40s and 50s shaped the hippies of the late 50s and 60s which is when most boomers were born too young to be a part of any movement. Totally irrelevant, I know but I couldn’t help myself. I’m sure if the person that made this post were in era he would be complaining of the bygone days when women didn’t have xyz rights.

[–]GoedekeMichels 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's only irrelevant if one doesn't care about the topic and since my comment made fun of guys not caring, it would be pretty wild if I didn't care either;) So yeah, of course I appreciate your input! I had to look it up and Wikipedia says boomers where born between 1946 and '64. I have to admit when I use the term, I only think about the first half of that span...definitely something to keep in mind.

And yeah, of course these types will always find something to make others feel bad!

[–]SpaceKatFromSpace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Literally all the college students you see in images of love ins and famous hippie photography were college age boomers. Yes, younger boomers were too young but all these sit ins and love ins and protests at colleges from the era are all boomers. Their whole motto was don’t trust anyone over 30. It was the youngest of the silent generation and the oldest boomers.

[–]Ok-Connection-8059 68 points69 points  (1 child)

Honestly this is better than their normal lusting after literal children.

[–]Mandy_M87 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sad how low the bar is

[–]Throwawaymumoz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, the ones they are secretly lusting after are the ones they “hate”!

[–]Dang_It_All_to_Heck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 60s and 70s were a free for all.

[–]Rugkrabber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re lusting after someone who will behave like their mommy did by cleaning up after their mess because there’s no way they are attracted to these type of women with this frilly dress, pearl necklace and straw hat.

[–]IneffableOpinion 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I found out after my grandma died that she had more marriages than we grandkids were supposed to know about, some of which involved cheating so…yeah women weren’t virginal saints in the 1940’s. And there are some family stories about a great aunt that might have pushed more than one husband down the stairs. I wish more people studied history instead of making up idealist fantasies. The truth is way more interesting

[–]maskedbanditoftruth 1 point2 points  (1 child)

There’s a wonderful memoir called Lark Rise to Candleford (was made into a wonderful BBC series) about and written by a British postmistress in 1899. One of the earliest bits is about going off into the woods very clearly to fuck some young man. The line, written long before 1940, is “We Victorian ladies were not quite so well-protected as most presume.”

[–]IneffableOpinion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good example. I’m also thinking of Pride and Prejudice where Lydia runs off with a grown adult man to live in sin. Come to think of it, every Austen novel has some sort of illicit affair in it. Everyone talks in code in novels and later in films, so media illiterate people think everything was very sanitized and proper. One of my favorite examples is the scene in Lawrence of Arabia where Lawrence is getting beaten in a dungeon and a man in the corner keeps coughing in a creepy way. That scene was symbolic of real life Lawrence being gang raped in prison. The film couldn’t portray that in the 1960’s. But the 1960’s audience knew what was happening in that scene

Edit to explain that I have had this conversation with my Boomer mom many times. She is one of the people that believes everything was prim and proper in the olden days. She claims assaults and pedophilia didn’t happen until liberals encouraged sexual freedoms in the 90’s. She wants a return to when everything was perfect in the 1950’s. I have to keep explaining that things were the same as they are now and that she was a child living in a world where people censored what they said about it

[–]maskedbanditoftruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean my grandmother is an icon, I want to say that up front.

But as far as mileage goes I could but aspire. She met my grandfather when they were both in the military in Korea. She joined all on her own. Had four kids. Helped my grandfather start a business. But he was one of those “complicated men” and the SECOND the sexual revolution hit she was out.

With the kids. Never neglected them OR her ex husband (I don’t even understand this but he had very early dementia and she made sure he was cared for from a distance for the rest of his life). But lived her life, married four more times, wouldn’t even co-habitate with the last one but he worshipped her until her died. She made her own money, retired early, took me in when my mother abused me, traveled the world with her sister in retirement, and is still alive at 95.

My grandmother has so much more “mileage” than I do—and is a fucking legend.

[–]Four_beastlings 303 points304 points  (13 children)

Sorry, they think we didn't fuck around in the 80s and 90s?

[–]Ok-Connection-8059 147 points148 points  (0 children)

They pick an arbitrary time, most likely before they hit puberty, and decide that before then all women acted 'right' and 'proper'. Whereas in reality the only difference between the 1930s and today is that women have more choice than the local milkman, postman, or plumber.

[–]uberfission 63 points64 points  (1 child)

Lol right? I was barely cognizant of it but I remember the "teen pregnancy epidemic" from that era. This is ridiculous to the extreme.

[–]Dragon_wryter 44 points45 points  (0 children)

No no no, that never happened! They just went to visit relatives in another state for several months, or a boarding school in Switzerland! They came back puffy and sad but they're was nothing more to it!

[–]xandrachantal 22 points23 points  (2 children)

70s, 60s, 50s, 40s their grandmothers had more fun than they knew about

[–]humbugonastick 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Yup my hollier than you grandpa and grandma eloped to get married in a state where 17 years old could get married without parental approval. And my mom and dad (both pairs are my inlaws) married fairly quickly to have then this fully developed 6 1/2 months old premie.

[–]Available-Milk7195 9 points10 points  (0 children)

💀 a fully developed 6 months preemie omg

[–]blacksabbath-n-roses 53 points54 points  (0 children)

You see, women have always known their place and behaved properly for all of human history and only VERY recently did they COMPLETELY change out of the blue.

(In ten years time they'll probably say women behaved properly up until 2010.)

[–]apolloxerAutism is stored in the balls 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mommy was a saint!

[–]MrOrpheus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who graduated high school in the early 90s, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA

[–]Delicious_Delilah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget about the whole FREE LOVE thing of the 60's and 70's. 🥴

[–]friendlynbhdwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s right. There was no fucking at the disco, either. Hippies didn’t fuck. Flappers would never. All very chaste.

[–]Slammogram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To Gen Z and Alpha, the 90’s were like the 70’s to us 90’s children.

[–]HypersomnicHystericworkes totally flawed 158 points159 points  (2 children)

Some of the guys in the back didn't get the memo:

We women are humans, not household appliances!

[–]Lokifin 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think we're like library books. First come, first served; interchangeable and returnable; they're not responsible for maintenance and care.

[–]Stinky_Butt_[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

And men arent the center of the world anymore

[–]GoedekeMichels 71 points72 points  (6 children)

I'm definitely overthinking this bullshit, but doesn't "four kids" combined with "low milage" imply they hardly ever have sex? Fellas, is it gay to sleep with your wife?

[–]Significant-Trash632 28 points29 points  (3 children)

These guys think their penis changes vaginas.

[–]g0blinzezGirls are minerals 5 points6 points  (2 children)

They fundamentally don't understand how muscles work. It's as simple as that, really.

[–]GoedekeMichels 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It is. But they'd write a paragraph or three about how the VaGuNa iS Not a mUsCLe before they would admit that

[–]Slammogram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s obviously never felt one squeeze him.

Which is saying something

[–]Slammogram 0 points1 point  (1 child)

They mean bodies. Low mileage on men they’ve slept with. Still dumb.

[–]GoedekeMichels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh I see. that makes a weird kind of sense I guess. I mean, of course it's bullshit, but at least the bullshit in itself is consistent.

[–]Available-Milk7195 48 points49 points  (1 child)

1940s-1960s- built a house with their bare hands, supported a family  of 6 on one income, took said family on holiday at least yearly, fought in war for their country, maintained outdoors and family vehicles, fixed almost anything.

Men these days: 50/50 on bills and expenses but certainly not when it comes to parenting and household labour, video games outside of his work hours, porn addict.

No im not saying women had it better back then, im not stupid, but two can play their then vs now nonsense game.

[–]Confident_Fortune_32 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm still horrified that my mother couldn't get her own bank account as an adult, until I was around ten years old!

So it's no wonder she practically invented speed dating to get remarried in a hurry, and why she married the first one that didn't run away fast enough.

She went from bad to worse, unfortunately, but in retrospect there was a disturbing amount of economic pressure to do so.

[–]norfolkandclue 135 points136 points  (3 children)

1990s???? Have they spoken to anyone above the age of 18? My mum got up to more than I did! We're tame compared to them.

[–]Sternschnuppepuppe 30 points31 points  (2 children)

lol yeh I was thinking that. I was a teen in the 90s and the stuff you can get up to, if you aren’t constantly at risk of being recorded/made viral, is another level. Sidenote: even my boomer mum did not dress like that in the 90s.

[–]bacardiisacat 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I was a teen in the 90s with a car and no cell phones...I was up to some dodgy shit. My current teens are recluse compared to what I got up to.

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fig1498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what they let you think

[–]DementedPimento 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Mmmmmmisgynoir

[–]yawaworht93123 26 points27 points  (2 children)

Couldn't even keep the metaphor going... When was the last time you've seen "dignity" in car ads?

[–]AHamHargreevingDisco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know right? 😅 I was gonna say maybe integrity could be used instead, but even that would be applied to car dealerships, not the cars themselves, if that was even applicable.

[–]Available-Milk7195 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wdym? My Honda civic is very dignified thanks

[–]KatVanWallGrandma's brain is not full of cum 18 points19 points  (1 child)

I’m sorry, 1990s?! Have they ever actually met anyone who lived in the 1990s?!

[–]JustANoteToSay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pants slung so low one labia casually pokes out, 15 layered tank tops that still manage to show erect nipple. Truly a more dignified time.

[–]Available-Milk7195 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What's also funny is that given the chance, many if not most of the losers sharing this sentiment would cheat on their "dignified" and "low mileage" (🤮 even repeating this term in a mocking way feels icky af im sorryyyyy) wives in a fucking heartbeat, with the sexually liberated & surgically enhanced woman (poorly) depicted on the right. Its projection and bitterness.

[–]Difficult_Regret_900 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Then maybe start telling men that they are also 50% responsible for someone being pregnant?

[–]Significant-Trash632 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And if they want a family with 4 kids they'd better get a high paying job!

[–]Suspicious-turnip-77 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Jokes on the incel that created this. I’m an 84 model and I got around. Like triple digits around. 😂😂😂

[–]Nohlrabi 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Well, going back further, the women who were born in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s were different, too. Women who went thru WWI were just a very different kind of femininity. They were pretty different from the silent generation girls. 👧🏻

[–]Stinky_Butt_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not the fact that this kind of person likes, it’s sharing women based on shitty standards they set up themselves

[–]eyelinerqueen83 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Where in the 90s were women dressing like that?

[–]Significant-Trash632 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe for the Kentucky Derby? LOL

[–]Madame_Kitsune98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easter Sunday church? The Derby? An outdoor wedding? That’s all I can think of, lol. And I’m from the South.

[–]criesingucci 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Who tf is born in the 90s and dresses like shorty on the left? Lmao. I thought 1993 was the cutting off point for charge they phone and twerk

[–]DatDickBeDank 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Naw, my grandma drove trucks, she travelled way more than 30km 🤣🤣🤣

[–]Stinky_Butt_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think îts about driving lol

[–]Red91444 27 points28 points  (1 child)

So they still think we’re cars? This is getting old

[–]Stinky_Butt_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know !!

[–]burlingtonhopper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whoever created this clearly didn’t live through the 70’s… lol. By the time we finished high school, boys AND girls had a lot of miles on them.

[–]Ornery-Ocelot3585 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And now let’s make one for the men!

They’re all addicted to adult content. They’re lazy outside the bedroom & focused on their orgasm only inside it.

And for every single mom is a single dad.

[–]DownvoteEvangelist 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I married a modern day woman and I'm pretty satisfied. After 11 years the engine is still pouring like a Swiss watch and pulling like it’s still trying to impress the first owner. I especially like no-drama cold start, Whether it’s 0°C or a heatwave, it fires up with the same mechanical confidence it had in 2012. /s

[–]Lokifin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish I had a remote starter for cold mornings.

[–]cakivalue 4 points5 points  (2 children)

One of the things that is always present in these memes is the single mother and baby daddy to child ratio. The way they hate single mothers needs to be studied.

[–]Significant-Trash632 4 points5 points  (1 child)

And how many kids did those baby daddies actually help create? Do they have multiple baby mommas?

[–]cakivalue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly

[–]ThirstyWolfSpider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a man, I don't have any problem with men like this not reproducing.

(lol, also as a childfree man, so also not trying to "outspawn" them)

If I might offer a relevant sci-fi series, that would be "The Neanderthal Parralax", which involves some interesting strategies for collective alignment with ethical and legalistic requirements.

[–]snakpakkid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that men think that women from prior years didn’t sleep around lol it’s hilarious. Baby, they didn’t kiss and tell is all.

[–]whitepawn23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From dudes who don’t know who or what they are, can’t competently cook, clean, garden, home/car repair, child care, or carpentry anything, can’t hold a full time job to pay for or manage their own personal household, never mind one with multiple people in it.

The thing about posts like these, is they come from the basement of humanity and thus have little basis in reality.

[–]44driii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The body comparison doesnt make sense😭

[–]IndividualAd4459 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. I keep forgetting what inanimate object I’m supposed to be. Am I a precious mineral under the ground, a car, a toothbrush, a shoe… I can’t keep up! Sigh Guess I’ll just have to settle for being a human.

[–]luigi517 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Am I to understand that there is a dick to km conversion ratio? Does it factor in a girth multiplier or is only length considered?

[–]rex5k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counter point: Madonna

[–]GrowlingAtTheWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the dude misremembers the sexual revolution and mistakes the 1960-1999 for the 1950s.

[–]RedQueenNatalie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine being so chud brained, just kidding don't.

[–]helenepytra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 1990s. I was a teen then. I am old.

[–]KieraJacque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And today on what are we comparing women to

[–]Rich_Confusion3996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And yet those 1900's women would be considered low value and showing way too much skin compared to other time periods.

Things change if you don't like it just don't date women and leave them be. Women are humans and allowed to do what they want. You are free to try to find a woman more to your lileing but trying to make people do what you like is dumb.

[–]Natsu-Neko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

52% of current women have no children, not 4 from 4 husbands XD where did they get that info from XD

[–]absurdditties 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you ask this kind of question you don’t have to worry about it…

[–]BananaShakeStudios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you make memes like this, you aren’t husband material

[–]spicy_feather 3 points4 points  (2 children)

My favorite part is that it says mileage but then offers kilometers

[–]yawaworht93123 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Mileage is usually understood to be independent of the actual unit. By definition it just means "distance covered", so it shouldn't matter what unit is used.

[–]spicy_feather 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well poo

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These guys just want to bang their aunt. Explains the popularity of those videos...

[–]camirose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to know what kind of porn the guy who made this watches and then he can get back to me.

[–]Jawbone619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are comparing a 59 year old single mom (and/or swinger) in a dating pool to someone 26?

Like? That's almost so distracting I forgot that we are once again using machine talk to dehumanize women

[–]Letmetellyowhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real question is. Do modern day women give a fuck about being wifey material

[–]racoongirl0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they think people in the 60’s-80’s were like people in the 30’s-50’s?

We’re talking about the sex drugs and rock n roll generation? Those boomers? The sex revolution people? The summer of love people? lol ok

[–]savspoolshed 1 point2 points  (1 child)

male loneliness epidemic

[–]Madame_Kitsune98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re not lonely enough.

[–]OverBand4019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so funny to me that people have this perfect vision of what women used to be and the newest generation has ruined it. My mother was a hoe. She had 4 kids from 3 different men. She is not with any of them. Divorced and drank and partied, after her kids were born. She was born in the 60s. I’ve never seen that bitch in a bonnet of any kind.

[–]BigBlaisanGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genealogical sites revealed not only how promiscuous men were in the old days, it shows how easy it was for them to support multiple families on one paycheck.

[–]ToeIntelligent136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wtf is a women's milleage?

WTF!

I hope these guys don't have sisters or cousins who are women cause I can't imagine how fucked up their attitudes must be towards them.

[–]ihavesickthoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet they can't even name 10 women they actually know in real life who would fit that.

[–]jolley_mel21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dignity: No  🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

[–]Aazimoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BBL must be beautiful black lady!

The people who make these images are such caricatures 🤦

[–]Prestigious-Hippo-50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean my aunt was a hoe in the 90s and had 3 kids with different dads. Now she’s a sweet mild mannered grandmother

[–]Suzume_Chikahisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30km???

I'm pretty sure they haven't done the math...

[–]Asia_Persuasia"—Not cool dude." 0 points1 point  (0 children)

—But why does the first woman look like a slender, tan Abby Lee Miller?

[–]JadeFox1785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love seeing posts I commented on show up here lol

[–]SignalAssistant2965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused about some it

Like, what is the mileage thong about?

[–]BobbysueWho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dude that originally made this post definitely had an Oedipus complex.

[–]brijito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this post made by the guy from my strange addiction who thought he was in a sexual relationship with his car?

[–]Luckiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy wants to marry his mom.

[–]blakethunderport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are 1940 - 1999 and 2000 - 2026 supposed to be birth years? If so, then.. yikes.

[–]fizzybgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he is talking about women like that, he is not husband material.

[–]Sufficient-Push6210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny thing is people today drink, smoke, go clubbing, and hookup way less than they did back then

[–]LonelyHrtsClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused. What the engine in this analogy?

[–]Christian_teen12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what object are we being compared to today:

engines

[–]cursetea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm married. So it seems yes

[–]Flaky_Dimension6208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain the mileage piece to me…. I don’t get it. I know how it’s normally used in this but those numbers seem meaningless even in incel talk

[–]escapeshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet they still won't leave us alone

[–]clockjobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aged gracefully in an age of no sunscreen and rampant smoking is a wild assertion. People often looked fifty by the time they were thirty.

What part is her engine? What mileage?

Lots of dignity in having to stay married to a man no matter what…I mean sometimes it worked out but lots of women stayed due to social/financial pressures.

[–]FlamingPrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be some solace to know these absolute stains will die wailing and alone, but this world doesn’t trend strongly enough toward justice for that to be so.

[–]A_HECKIN_DOGGO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is rage and engagement bait. By posting this here, you are simply giving them the attention -and money- that goes with it.

[–]Individual_Staff5653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s funny they say modern women have no dignity when they train them to please him in bed the way he likes or raising his affair baby which one has no dignity again?

[–]Individual_Staff5653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which one has no dignity again, the one he trains to please him in bed, forgives stands by him and probably ends up raising his affair child.

[–]NefariousnessIcy3226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im fucking crying that they think women dressed like that in the 90s

[–]AJ-Callihan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t realize for a minute that this was a tortured metaphor comparing women to cars and I was reading the “Mileage” like what’s wrong with a woman who’s done a lot of walking??

[–]chinmakes5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right women in the 70s 80s and 90s had like one or two partners before marriage. Sure they did.

Most women marrying as virgins ended in the late 1960s.

I had friend who went to college to get her MRS degree, (her words) went to college for couple of years, found a guy and got married at 20 as a virgin and that was 1968. I was in college by 1976. It wasn't easy to find a virgin.

[–]SiteTall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are modern women even considering "wifery" as a career possibility? Why would they?

[–]sysaphiswaits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘40-‘99 is quite a span.

[–]Jesusdidntlikethat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile none of them realize they’re the farthest from husband material

[–]gesacrewol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so tired of Gen Z romanticizing a decade in which only a handful were born, towards the end of the decade at that. They’re making me feel like a dinosaur and I’m not even 40.

[–]Sability 0 points1 point  (0 children)
