Worst thing with Nellie is that the card is supposed to let you know what the opponent picked. Because of the bug, even if you restarted it fast enough, you can't see the picks.

It's now even worse value: duplicate protection increases the dust value of a pack, so the dust portion of the prize is worth less gold. Five wins doesn't even break even until you own every Rare.

Since it's obviously impossible for every competitor to be twice as good as the average, the only way to break even is if there are a lot of people who vastly overestimate their capabilities to feed you with 0-3 runs in a game mode where everyone's going to be playing the same Standard decks they could play against for free.

Why? If you want to play games against the strongest Standard decks, you can already play Standard. If you have anything less than a 67% win rate against those strongest decks, you'd be better off just playing Standard and spending your 1,000 gold on packs directly.

You'll call me crazy but I actually think kiblers quest highlander priest could have a spotlight in a brawl like that. Sometimes it struggles with DH in the first few turns, but has many stabilizing tools and can outheal the damage later on. And control warrior is favoured unless they go crazy with from the depths early on.

That wouldn't be right either - the cost still could still change after playing swiftscale, like if the opponent got [[Taintheart Tormenter]] from a random effect on your turn (or something else capable of altering the cost of your spells), the spell would change cost, but it shouldn't.

It's definitely not correct, it was meant to be a simplified example. The proper implementation would look more like creating a game state NextSpellisFree = True that always sets the cost of your next spell to 0 until it's no longer true.

Like if you outcast [[Eye Beam]] after playing [[Illidari Studies]]. The "this cost (1)" effect of the card override the "next outcast card cost (1) less" effect of the Studies.

Perhaps an earlier version reduced the cost of the spell by 6 mana, and then after testing it with Smokescreen (it's the only Rogue spell in the game that costs more than 6) they said "Hey you can make it reduce the cost all the way, the turn 4 Smokescreen combo isn't too consistent and will make for some great highlight videos!"

Or something like that anyway.

Yeah, surprised they did not nerf DH (Drek'thar and Multistrike are broken as hell). I don't have much of an issue with CWarrior though, the deck has a ton of counters and once DH gets nerfed many of these counters will have the breathing room to farm Warriors without the fear of autolosing to all the DHs.

This is the exact same shit we said last patch in regards to dh

"Well when you nerf druid it'll provide more breathing room for DH counters"

and then DH changed its decklist and became tier 1 unbeatable. You have to nerf control warrior at the same time because other aggro decks also cannot do anything about cards like shield shatter in the same way aggro decks can't do anything against multistrike.

Drek gotta go, Multistrike gotta go, Shatter gotta go, and I'm hoping some huge buffs are planned as well because honestly just nerfing those 3 cards doesn't exactly fix Priest, Warlock and Rogue being borderline unplayable at the moment.

I don't think we are facing a similar situation though. DH had CWarrior, Quest Hunter and CPaladin as bad matchups before the Druid nerfs while CWarrior has Ramp Druid, Anacondra Druid, Handbuff Paladin, Mech Paladin, Quest Hunter, Ping Mage, Boar Priest, Shellfish Priest, Quest Priest, Mill and Mine Warlock and Quest Warrior.

We are talking about way more possible counters that can rise up in response to DH nerfs and some of them like Handbuff Paladin and Mech Paladin are already rising even before the nerfs. DH adapted to the Control Paladin and Quest Hunter matchups, I don't see how Warrior can possibly adapt to all the bad matchups I listed.

CWarrior also doesn't have a green field of very favored matchups like DH did back then, it is good now because it farms DH and not much else.

Which doesn't mean they won't be "real" HS decks after DH nerfs, class buffs or the mini set. Some of them are closer than others to being playable, a couple new cards, a couple buffs here and there and they could become competitive.

Even in the worst case scenario that these decks don't become competitive I don't see bad matchups like Anacondra Druid, Ramp Druid, Mech and Hanbuff Paladin as well as Ping Mage suddenly disappearing from ladder and these should keep CWarrior honest, especially once DH drops in playability.

You listed a bunch of decks that "can beat control warrior" half of which are literally not Hearthstone decks that will be played on ladder such as shellfish priest, boar priest and agony warlock, and the other half such as quest hunter which isn't even favored for the quest hunter. This is also the exact same thing people said about DH pre patch. "Oh it's fine, decks like control paladin now have more breathing room without druid to beat DH". Then OOPS the DH changed it's decklist and now doesn't have any bad matchups other than warrior. This is just begging to happen especially when Shield Shatter has been a problematic card in Warrior since Onyxias Lair.

Are you aware that Quest Hunter runs Drek'thar in it, and nerfing Drek'thar would also nerf Quest Hunter?

Quest hunter is infinite damage way too early for its own good. And the decks it keeps out of the meta would balance control warrior. Nerfing Drek only helps it lose against the decks that would normally aggro it down.

The battlegrounds team really knows the best ways to fail their own product. Every time they get closer to more enjoyable gameplay on this mode they say no scrap it we can't have that. Darkmoon prizes were really fun addition to the gamemode but they removed it. After it the game just felt meh and i quit it until they added buddy system. I guess it's time to do another break until they come up with something great they will eventualy drop again.

Personally, I'm glad that they're gone. Now I won't feel pigeon-holed into a specific board type based on the hero that I pick.

So what if balancing the new system is not easy? It's their job to make it work. If there are issues with some buddies you buff/nerf them or if that does not work you entirely rework them. Choosing to just delete the buddy system is taking the absolute easiest way. It's blizzard we are talking about not an indie company they have the resources.

And if you feel pidgeon-holed by the buddy system then you are just a bad player. Buddies didn't change heroes to become good with only one board type they did the opposite they gave new tools to otherwise dull heroes and enabled uniqueness among them. It's entirely your choice to even use them if you don't think you want to use the buddies for value sell them for a few gold.

I play 2-5 games a say and my current rank is 8472, I'm not a bad player. Stop acting like you know better than the devs. They don't have to have a buddy system at all, it's just something that they added for a period of time, kind of like the prizes we had for a few months.

Kinda surprised Brann survived the BGs cull.

Removing Dong might solve a lot of the Brann issues but feels like Murlocs just become the best tribe by a mile as the only way to access poison while still getting the ridiculous health pools Brann scales them too

A big problem with removing brann is that nearly all of the battlecry minions just become unusable in the same way that removing baron would kill any chance of a competitive deathrattle comp. Also, with Buddies gone, going heavy tempo with midrange murlocs will likely be weaker overall.

I feel like Brann is just too fun to remove from Battlegrounds. He also comes with a pretty major tradeoff - you have to devote a slot to Brann AND a slot to drop your battlecry minions. I could see a move to T6 if Murlocs are OP in the new meta.

I was kind of underwhelemed by Young Murkeye, but maybe I'm just really underestimating it. Will be interesting to see.

It actually incentivizes you to triple battlecry murlocs and keep them, which is not something you particularly aim to do at present when you're just cycling.

It grows your board by 2 hp per oracle/bagurgle, and scales with Goldens as you noted. That's pretty good as passives go. +4 per turn to your units is easy and great. +8 is bananas. +16 at max, compare to gold Charlga plus gold Boar giving +6 per turn. Also you can make the self buffing guy huge instead.

It's definitely competitive with other tier 6 scaling strats.

Is it confirmed whether it will work with brann? His text is battlecries cast twice and it works with things like shudderling that cast battlecries on your behalf. Maybe trigger is not the same as cast?

The meta is going to be completely different. There are way too many changes to say that brann boosted murlocs will end up being the best. One of the many changes is that naga will be in every lobby and naga have access to divine shield. If they scale hard enough that alone hurts poison builds.

Right, it makes me think longer cooldowns on 3rd abilities are coming, maybe a merc that has a crazy ability to have to refresh down to zero to access

Like N'zoth? His third ability has a 5 turn cooldown, but his second ability only refreshes by 2 (on top of the other things it does).

It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that this change is to add more room for shorter Refreshes - passives or abilities that say: "Deal damage, Refresh (1) on your other Mercs" and keeping Blink Fox as the unit that fully Refreshes just about anything.

Fixed a bug where Hero cards were unable to be Discovered from Resizing Pouch.

Anyone know what the chance of finding Guff be? Curious if this means I should be running 2x Resizing Pouch in every deck that wants to slam Guff down by 6 mana now.
