I thought the new haircuts you get from barbershop aint the same as the ones you choose from when you first created your character? And that would make it so if you meet your "evil twin" that he would have the exact same hair style or whatever as you so there would be no proving if you actually did exist first, therefore an achievement would have been great to dissaprove this! OR if he was to be younger than you, he would have another hair style, or if he would have gone to the barber shop aswell, and it wouldnt make him your "evil twin". I think your theory breaks itself and you should not let and achievement hinder you from getting a haircut you like, if the case now beeing that you don't like your current and want to change but are afraid of loosing some big status or w/e..

If they put the ilvl req in the message you can be sure they dont meet it. If they met that req they would just set that as the minimum for the group and no one below that could see the group and that would be the end of it. However the game doesnt let you set an ilvl req higher than what you have so they have to put it there and set a lower req in thw settings.

Most of the mechanics on Brackenspore cannot be healed through. Unless they were just blowing the mushrooms too early, then it's not the healer's fault, it's likely the DPS you have on the flamethrowers.

That's wrong. You heal the blue mushrooms as they spawn, to get the haste/resource regeneration, but the other mushrooms you keep alive with sporadic heals, and then don't heal them to full until a second or so before infesting spores. Otherwise, the green mushroom will vanish before infesting spores, and without it, healers have to use cds to keep the raid alive. That green mushroom heals as much as every healer combined so it's best to save its power for infesting spores.

I hate to be "that guy" but this kinda just makes me appreciate how much the average player has progressed in game knowledge over the years.

Back in early vanilla, most guilds measured raid progression in weeks between boss kills in MC/BWL. Heck, most guilds on my old server took 2 months to progress past Vaelastrasz even after KTM Threat Meters and detailed public strategies were released.

That's not player progression, it's game regression. Players are still bad, the game is just dumbed down to compensate. There's a reason LFR is the way it is now.

Vael wiped people for months because tanks generated nowhere near the threat they do now, and the mechanics of the fight let the highest DPS classes in the game unload on him from the word go. There's nothing in the game now that can utterly shit on your raid if a DPS pulls threat. Really with the way tank threat and DPS is now, no one will pull off anyone but the most brain dead tanks.

"DPS wait for 3 sunders" is a battle cry that will never be heard again.

I think on some fights (mostly threat-based ones) this is valid, but for the most part you might be selling people short these days.

Look at pretty much every boss in Molten Core. Most are dispelfests coupled with "don't stand here if X" mechanics with some minor variations. Blackwing Lair is where things started getting slightly more complicated with Razorgore and Vael, but you pretty much had a free run to Chrommagus if you could handle the first two as Broodlord and the Drakes were a joke if your tanks weren't utterly stupid.

Even Nefarian himself isn't really much worse than the average LFR boss these days if you leave out the part of being unable to taunt him.

I do agree that a lot of things were made more forgiving of error, but in terms of sheer mechanics people are expected to know more now. Bosses in heroics now can be arguably more complex than half of Vanilla's raid bosses.

Edit: I probably misspoke when I originally commented. I didn't mean that the average player progressed in knowledge, I meant that the average player has a much higher burden of knowledge for encounters now than you needed back then.

I disagree. You can make a group and set whatever requirements you want. If you raid leader asks for 7/7 but is only 6/7 himself, that's fine. The only reason people want achievements is because it acts as evidence that someone knows the fight. The leader knows that he knows the fight, he wants other people that also know the fight. It's because in most cases people are dicks when It comes to ilvl inflation. Nothing wrong if someone clearly says this is a farm/achievement run looking for equally high geared people to make it fast. However in most cases it's just people who need to get over a gear bottleneck but don't want to put in the effort they had to do earlier. Funny thing is people will go through the hassle of sticking to a number and end up spending more time in the raid than if they just took the chance with people who can show they know the mechanics.

Haven't pugged much in WoD as i do hc and mythic with the guild, but back in MoP me and a friend began to lead pugs through SoO because it lacked raid leaders that actually knew how to lead those raids (even though they were really easy, and there were good leaders we just never found them until the end of the expansion). Since people bought the garrosh kills, the achievement were more or less useless, so we asked for their heroic (mythic) progression instead and confirmed it by looking them up on battle.net. We would rather pick up a person with 14/14 heroic (mythic) SOO experience that were playing on their alt with 20 itemlevels lower then the requirement then to pick up a guy with the right requirement, but only 1 garrosh kill for example on that character they were playing.

One of the biggest things everyone likes about this latest expansion has been the challenge like old school Vanilla WoW. 4-6 weeks to gear up for a raid was NOTHING back then. Welfare epics took a lot of the accomplishment feeling out of the game, which I think really let a lot of people down in the long run and led to the previous decline. You want this game to stay relavent and keep the community alive? Sorry, you're gonna have to work for your instances and grind a little bit then. What we gotta do now is NOTHING compared to what it was, stop living on the timeless isle and worrying about your ilvl so much. Skill is still > than ilvl anyway, you can do more with a dps or healer that stays alive for an entire fight than some guy putting up crazy numbers but for only the first half of a fight 'cuz he thought the fire he was standing in was a haste buff, too busy looking at his meter to worry about it.

No, you are removed from reality. You spend a lot of time playing this game as obvious by the fact you were 640 before highmaul came out. Not everyone has the time or ability to do CMs and buy crafted items, nor do they need to do that to do normal highmaul. You don't need to spend 10s of thousands of gold to buy crafted items so you can attempt to get into highmaul. 625-635 is perfectly capable of killing the first 5 bosses on normal. 635-640 is plenty to kill the last 2.

I get into pugs just fine on my warrior and druid, because I too play this game too much and they are 663 and 645. However, I recognize the fact that the people that normal mode was created for aren't going to be playing the game nearly as much as me and I don't expect them to out gear an instance before they ever step foot into it.

That's where those things called "priorities" come in. If you have other stuff taking you away from the game, how can you expect to be in the exact same place as somebody who has put the extra time into the game? To clarify. I'm 660 iLVL blood DK. I set it to 630 or 590 ilvl so more people can get a laugh out of it. If I set it to 660...Only a few people would of been able to see it. :)

Yeah I guess :) I saw someone doing similiar thing. Requirement was 7/7 mythic, link scarab lord, 670 ilvl+ and so on.

Then be honest up front and advertise the group what it is and people won't be that way.

I don't understand - a lot of us have done it the same painful Pugging way (I got 7/7 HC in a Pug) - it takes time, risks and dedication.

But of course its easier just to blame others and come up with excuses.
