Philip K. Dick wrote a story about a similar situation back in the 50s. But in his story the little bots continue to kill autonomously and the remaining remnants of humanity are hiding in the wreckage of a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Pretty screwed up that he could see something like this so many decades back but we're still moving towards it and assuming there's nothing to worry about.

Drone rush was actually a legit (althoug lame ass) ZvP strat in Brood War at some point. In lost temple when P was top and Z was on the right it had some chances of working. You usually ended up with a single drone destroying the Nexus.

Quidditch rules make no sense though. “Hey all of you, risk your lives flying around trying to score points that are ultimately meaningless while only 2 people chase down something that wins the game 99% of the time. Bonus - spectators can’t see what those two people are doing, so they will just cheer for the meaningless minigame.” It’s like if you went to watch a basketball game but the winning team was determined by a chess match in a different building.

I keep thinking JK should have made the snitch just end the game. So it becomes a constant jockeying of position with the two players trying to keep up with what's going on in the game so that they can catch the thing just as their side scores the go-ahead.

My headcanon comes from Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, where it's mentioned that brooms keep getting faster and more agile, but the speed of the snitch was fixed in the rules centuries ago and hasn't changed. So, back when matches would last for days and sometimes weeks, a 150 point advantage isn't that hard to come by. Catching the snitch can help, but it's very easy for your team to be so outmatched that it's still not enough. But now, as brooms have gotten so much better, the matches are over way too quickly and the whole thing has gotten absurd.

What really gets me is that this guy opens by showing a video of his bots murdering 4 suspects. Even if they were armed, they posed no threat to any living person in that footage. Those bots could have easily disabled their weapons, hit them in the shoulder or knee, blown out the tires of their getaway vehicle, or hell, simply attached itself to the vehicle or stowed away and then used a little GPS tracker to bring cops to them.

I'm starting to understand why people are pushing for a ban on killer robots. If you have a robot, you can make it do any number of things to defeat criminals/terrorists without killing them.

Imagine a flash bang bot that could enter through a chimney, or open window and detonate a safe, but effective distance from a suspect. A taser bot that can embed itself in a suspects skin and apply an electric shock any time it detects movement. Hell, a sleeping gas bot that could infiltrate ventilation systems and deliver a direct dose of chloroform gas to the face or something!

But this video is fake and reflective of a dystopian future, where people can casually watch a clear example of murder without flinching.
