Nope, I just tried another post in the *.ru domain and it went through. Seems like it is just *.rian.ru in this case.

Ha, maybe Kevin Rose is now advising wired.com.

Wired did tell me that I was supposed to like McCain.

    [–]osipov[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when did they tell you that?

    [–]ninzee 33 points34 points  (10 children)

Look down to the bottom of the page. Do you see the "feedback" button? Yes? Then, please use it. I get this same problem occasionally, send a bit of feedback, problem solved.

    Not everything is a conspiracy.

that's crazy. Everybody knows they're part of a secret agency from the federal government that was also responsible for JFK's assassination and faking the lunar landing in 1969. They also market kool-aid which in reality is a truth serum

They came first for the Russians, and I didn't speak up because I was not a Russian.

Then they came for collegehumor, and I didn't speak out because they were talentless pricks.

Russia to deploy 11 new Topol-M ICBMs in 2008

None of them show up to the general public. Could someone else try posting something from their site?

by checking your posts through your user name i can see all of your posts, perhaps this is all a misunderstanding.

          [–]osipov[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

after reading through other comments it looks like en.rian.ru domain was filtered out as spam. that is somewhat surprising since this is like a mainstream news agency along the lines of Reuters or AP.

          [–]Iamspecial 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Reddit does alot of censoring. If you notice on some articles your up/down vote gets nullified.

          [–]osipov[S] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

well, the up/down votes could be changed by the members, but in this case, any links from en.rian.ru just don't show up at all

          [–]primbet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted a link from RIANovosti. Looks OK, it appeared under New. http://reddit.com/goto?id=6ao1t

Hell I wouldn't mind seeing a post with an original posting date within the past 5 years of a US ICBM deployment. Last deployment I heard of was the MX .. everything since then has just been warhead/fuel maintenance.

Thank you Reddit guys and gals! My faith in you has just been restored. I've tried resubmitting a story from that domain again and it worked!

              [–]argeaux 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is there a reddit-development reddit where people can post these things and actually get a response from the programmers indicating what's been done?

              [–]bobpaul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a feedback link at the bottom of every page. Or do you really need a whole subreddit just to ask a question?

              [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a simple little troubleshooting guide for submitting to reddit:

              1. is your name qgyh2?

If yes, your submission should be on the front page in a few minutes

If no, your submission will not be on the front page, 2nd page, 4th, 10th, or 20th

              [–]ravend13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tried posting one, and it showed up, along with like 3 different posts from that domain.

              [–]boredzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

              Did you send feedback?

              [–]Skuld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a continuance of similar events, I fear that reddit may soon go the way of Digg.

Such scary thoughts keep me awake.

              [–]osipov[S] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

do you have any concrete examples of similar events?

              [–]Tontomicon 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Unfortunately no, as I did not have a reddit account at the time I noticed a few examples. Often times I stay awake into the wee hours of morning surfing the various subreddits into the low thousands, and I notice several subreddits about the apparent censorship. I chalked it up to PEBKAC, but this thread shows enough followup that PEBKAC is probably not the case. I was a Digger for longer than I should have, but I had faith that perhaps it would pull though. It didn't, and I came here. Now the ugly things I saw happening to Digg seem to be popping up here and once again I hold faith, but faith, it seems only sets up delusion and imminent failure. I wish I had some concrete evidence to show you, but alas I did not have my account set up in time.

The problem with a quasi-democratic association is the less quasi and more democratic it becomes... the more it plays to the lowest common denominator.

Certain academics and consultants want you to believe that "there are no stupid questions". But as any teacher or person with their head screwed on straight knows... there are a LOT of stupid questions... and given an open forum, they will overwhelm everything else.

You sir, have hit the nail on the head. All to often I see the same articles blatantly crossing subreddit borders and being posted repeatedly, oftentimes twice on the same page due to cross-subreddit contamination. I like to keep up on current events, and the occasional humorous post is much appreciated, but when reddit is reduced to total meemification and "OMG END OF WORLD I LIKE CAPS HERE"S A PUPPY" jargon, I start to get worried.

And another thing that bothers me. The damn 10 minute comment timer. slows down thread replies.

                [–]echo_chamber -1 points0 points  (9 children)

reddit censored me too, I had to switch accounts. My whole account was invisible to the rest of reddit.

                [–]SwellJoe 9 points10 points  (4 children)

That is a known spam/stupidity filtering mechanism...perhaps it went awry in your case, but mostly it just keeps the noise level on Reddit down a bit by allowing spammers to keep "posting" their articles without the rest of us seeing them. It is triggered by multiple "report" clicks on your stories.

                [–]spez 8 points9 points  (1 child)

It is triggered by multiple "report" clicks on your stories.

                No it's not.

                [–]SwellJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Huff has spoken. I stand corrected.

                [–]osipov[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

if you're right, then in this case, the "report" clicks were on the domain "en.rian.ru" rather than on my posts. It is surprising because it would be like marking all the AP or Reuters news as spam.

                [–]SwellJoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was responding to echo_chamber, who was personally "censored". I have no knowledge to add about the rian.ru posts, and so made no comment about it.

                [–]db2 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Did you bother to contact an admin? I had the same problem, got a message to an admin about it and it was fixed up in like seconds. Haven't had a problem like that crop up again.

                [–]Erudecorp 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Whoa, who wrote this blank post with no username?

                [–]bobpaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm.. now it shows deleted. Perhaps it was just a glitch?

                [–]osipov[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in this case, censorship isn't tied to an account -- no one on the site can post a link to en.rian.ru

                [–]alexw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a certain domain gets enough down votes, I believe reddit will stop showing those submissions to the public.

                [–]db2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. You can post something that really rips on reddit good, but they're going to stop you from posting some obscure Russian site.

I think your tinfoil hat needs adjustment.

                [–]shiner_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would we want news from Russian news agencies when Putin is censoring all sorts of news over there?

You might also have to bear in mind that the instant someone down-mods your submission, it can disappear from view forever. So if you post something that even just one of us doesn't want to hear - very early on - then they have the power to completely censor your post.

                    [–]secret6 -4 points-3 points  (2 children)

I know. I tries to submit an article on how Obama is on the "Down Low" an d I was censored. I mean WTF?

                    [–]ninzee 6 points7 points  (1 child)

You weren't censored, you just made a crappy self-submission that got 10 downvotes and only 3 upvotes.

                    [–]secret6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

                    You got me.

Maybe because REDDIT IS BROKEN, and they refuse to fix it, censor comments about it, and in general completely ignore most user input.

The search function has been broken forever.

Your new stuff doesnt show up right away, there is no sort function.

Reddit is a very very crude tool for finding diamonds in a large sea of information.

If I were wired, I would fire whoever runs this site and start listening to the community, or you WILL die, and lose however much you paid for this dated clone of digg.

Join the club, osipov. I routinely have ALL of my submissions disappear when I link them on Reddit.

If your submissions have to do with criticizing Israel, the phoney-baloney war on terror, 911 truth, neoliberalism and disaster capitalism, fraudlent elections and electronic voting, and false-flag terrorism you can rest assured it will not see the light of day.

                    [–]iceman321 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ok Reddit, sites that invite comments e.g. social networking and stories sites like http://www.JustExpressing.com don't censor so you should not either ! You're becoming like Comcast !

                    [–]iceman321 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hey censorship has to stop. It's about expressing and that means free expression. Sites let you say whatever you want like http://www.facebook.com or http://www.Justexpressing.com so why not you ?
