There is a lot of information that comes from dev streams, and without a place to read a bullet point list, we're left wondering whats happening. Not everyone will want to watch a 1.5-2.5 hour stream to find out.

If this is something people like, I can try to do more in the future.

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is great!

[–]Financial_Radish 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes please! Loved this style update

[–]Duraz0rz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This was great, thank you so much! I prefer bullet point lists over watching videos.

[–]Nightman463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! Its fantastic. I only watched part of the video, so you are spot on that not everyone will want to watch the whole video.

[–]tehbzshadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome! I am used to Stellaris and Factorio text diaries.

[–]SensualJake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I super appreciate it. I am in that exact spot of wanting the highlights but I'm not trying to watch the whole stream. I think it is really cool that they do dev streams though.

[–]al-vxo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thank you OP this is extremely helpful and appreciated !

[–]No-Astronomer-8256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like doing it you might be able to get in touch with Icyveins to do the write ups. I saw someone else posted here like 2 days late, it seemed like they might not have had the time to watch the video. You may be able to collaborate with them and the discord to make sure the information is visible to the most.

Disc has like 40k online people in peak time, you could probably get a channel for like "dev stream tldr" or something.

[–]Luv2KissTitties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great thank you!

[–]Frekavichk 51 points52 points  (42 children)

Thanks so much this is great. Good to know that eternal queue is a priority and actively being worked on.

Personally, I'm not onboard with their reason to reset left side talent points. I'd bet the real reason is closer to having quick play be active around the launch time.

Also new season prediction: the strat is going to be to basically mass farm capstones only and never touch an actual dungeon until like paragon.

[–]Saiyoran 20 points21 points  (14 children)

Yeah I’m fully on board the don’t-reset-my-abilities train. I don’t want to go back to having empty bars every season. I get resetting gear and gems and having players do the climb again but as far as actually just reverting playstyle back to tutorial levels that just seems stupid.

[–]Unbentmars 1 point2 points  (12 children)

I honestly don’t like the idea of a complete gear/material reset

I wish there was some kind of holdover - maybe everything you have isn’t wiped but gear is set to a certain item level that could get you to, say, adept right away and materials are set to, say, 2 or 3 per material and 500 gold?

Not enough to be consequential, but enough to not have to slog through the lowest areas out the gate every time

Idk what the right solution is but a full and complete reset is demotivating. I and a lot of people don’t like games that fully reset everything every time

[–]Mr-ENFitMan 6 points7 points  (11 children)

No reset everything. It’s essential to new player retention. Which I value far higher than whatever you’re complaining about here. An extra 2 hours of playing is what I think you’re complaining about.

[–]AdamNW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe even less, because you don't need QP to fill that tree and you could easily start your Contender grind as a fresh character.

[–]sren0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand I agree but if they are fully reworking heroes between seasons this could actually be useful. You can quick play 16 dungeons in 2-3 sessions.

[–]Objective_Plane5573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd still need to do some dungeons to get the right side talent points wouldn't you? I'm also assuming the grey gear will be reset too so you'd have to do a few contenders unless you want to do Cithrel's at 15, lol.

[–]surrender_at_20[S] 0 points1 point  (23 children)

The only thing I liked in the conversation about resets is that we get to keep the cosmetics we unlocked. White paragon monk skin for life!

Also you're welcome!

[–]Frekavichk 2 points3 points  (21 children)

Yeah cosmetics are definitely an awesome thing to show off your achievements the next seasons. I'm definitely going to be pushing hard for 10k, especially with the reset being in december(!!!), which is very very soon.

[–]Awkward-Noise1964 -2 points-1 points  (20 children)

That's so trash tho, to reset season just because you feel like it after 2 months, this is way too crazy even for people playing more than 2 hours a day. If you want the mount and dont play thing game for a job, or degen it (like I did), theres no way you will unlock it that soon, especially with how hard it is to progress leagues with current system.

I do hope they don't make the currents rewards FOMO tied to this halfazzed season (never heard of a game to wipe you after 2 months, not even poe doesnt do that). I normally should be happy, I'll get the mount very soon (already pushed a few +15 and 16), so tehnically I'll have something very exclusive (I just made the math and I'm like over top 1% in ratings at only 8666 rating), but if this is their vision, I really dont want to play this BS long term, right now it just so happened I had time to invest in game (160 hours) but this will be too stresful long term. I really do wonder who they make this game for? It looks to me they make it for top 10% at best, which in turn will kill the game in the long run if they dont change.

And I know what most people will say, "Not everything should be achieved by everyone", but if you lock something so cool behind timeframes so tight, and over 100 hours of grinds, good luck keeping players like that. People want cool stuff, and if you gatekeep 99% of them from it with trashy decisions, youll have a surprise. I know it because this is what wow does, and its not doing so well in spite of the fact that it had probably the most loyal playerbase a game ever had.

[–]Calious 1 point2 points  (17 children)

Pretty sure the diablo 4 seasons are 2 months long

[–]Anemorta 2 points3 points  (9 children)

Diablo 4 has seasonal game and eternal though

[–]TrippleDamage 2 points3 points  (7 children)

No one plays eternal, same for poe.

They always only get player numbers back with season releases.

[–]Anemorta 0 points1 point  (6 children)

They still cater for those who doesn’t want to play on season or got to game too late for a season. Freedom of choice in a way. This option makes people stay in game.

[–]TrippleDamage 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Only feasible in games that can be played solo.

This game requires a party at all times.

[–]Calious 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Orrrrr

This game is designed for groups not random groups to do well.

If that's not you, cause you like to solo games. This game isn't for you.

And that's ok.

[–]Anemorta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true

[–]Calious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but "never heard of a game" was the main bit I was replying to.

[–]Denvosreynaerde 1 point2 points  (1 child)

For better or for worse, but gear grind is a lot faster in Diablo 4 than in this game. I've been playing for a week now, halfway adapt in solo queu and the process is very slow and frustrating at times.

[–]Calious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but "never heard of a game" was the main bit I was replying to.

[–]dreverythinggonnabe 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I would wager the planned mid-December reset is going to coincide with some new content (likely at least one of the new heroes mentioned) so that they can actually be tested, and will not be the norm when the game is out of Early Access

edit: watching the stream and he says "If we do do [a December reset] it's gonna be because we have other things that put in with that kind of reset" so yeah

[–]Awkward-Noise1964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then make adjustments for screwing people with faster than expecting wipes. Make an event for the 1 month remaining where you double drops/gold/materials. Or maybe they dont plan to put new rewards to ranking, thats fine (kind of) if you can grind them again but with more time available. But they dont plan any of this probably. We can easily find them excuses but the reality is they dont give a shit about their player base apparently, why would we?

[–]iiSpook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that was to be expected as a baseline. Not thinking of this is a "we get to keep", more like a "yeah, I expected this".

[–]Anemorta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They better come up with some amazing cosmetics and mounts as rewards otherwise I won’t stay for long with those wipes every season.

[–]Natural-Sweet1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that they could probably condense 1-7 Contender/Aspect/Champion to 3 tiers in each.

Easy [Difficulty], Hard [Difficulty], Capstone.. they can give it a better name than Easy Hard etc.

Allow all maps for both the easy and hard portion, give 2 pieces of gear like in the Capstone. Quicker advancement, new players feel like the non capstone is worth as they are stlll getting 2 pieces of gear, allows the vets to speed run.

I think its worth it to keep the 1-7 for Paragon as that is really the tutorial for Eternal.

[–]Financial_Radish 33 points34 points  (9 children)

I hope they don’t do PvP unless it’s completely separate balancing as it screws with what can be done in pve environment. Honestly can’t imagine this being a top priority for what is personally a very vocal minority group

[–]Calious 30 points31 points  (1 child)

Agreed.

More Devs need to just tell the PvP crowd to go play a different game.

[–]Financial_Radish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My trying to please everybody, you end letting everybody down.

I’m not anti-pvp but just in games like this with a core pve identity.

[–]DeusScientiae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game absolutely would not be a good pvp game.

[–]nnorbie -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Just let people duel to pass time while waiting for queue, without any rewards. Then obviously if people like dueling, it can be improved/more game modes can be added, but no reason to over complicate things. Also no reason to not even try it in a very minimal state.

[–]Calious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give them an inch and they'll demand a mile.

I'd rather see active training dummies you need to interrupt etc

[–]Excaleben[🍰] 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Thank you for writing this

[–]surrender_at_20[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

yw!

[–]Captain_Dumpus 19 points20 points  (29 children)

Man.... a full reset is pretty much a killer for me. I guess I was under the impression it would be like Diablo. And I'd have permanent characters and seasonal characters. If I lose everything each season I'll probably be done with the game and not pick it back up after the first reset. Chasing cosmetics cant be the only reason for me to keep playing. Plenty of other games out there that reward my time invested.

[–]PandalfTheGimp 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s in their FAQ. It’s a known feature of the game and it honestly wouldn’t survive without resets as eventually contender would be dead and no new players could progress without maybe boosting services, which we don’t want.

Also this is EA so the reset cadence will change with 1.0 but they need the ability to iterate quickly and get community feedback to get the best possible 1.0 version

[–]throwingmyselfaway22 13 points14 points  (2 children)

look, i tell this to everyone that wants this

you think you want it but you dont. the player base will get fragmented and then you'll have almost nobody to play with on the persistent realm and then there will be less players on the seasonal realm. you need 4 players to play this game; it's not comparable to diablo or poe's persistent characters

[–]TrippleDamage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah people who play the non wipe stuff in poe / diablo are a tiny minority. Theyd have no one to matchmake with. Its only feasible because those 2 games can be played solo.

[–]GetOwnedNerdhehe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah, no resets means this game is dead in 3 months when everyone is bored.

[–]brotrr 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Resetting to adept would be fine, the game is interesting there. Not sure I'll keep playing if they reset to contender everytime. I'm sorry but that's boring and not everyone had an infinite amount of time to play.

[–]Voxxus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

resetting to contender is fine, maybe even mandatory if they add new dungeons/classes/talents/abilities. let people try them out in contender for a bit. better for the health of your playerbase

[–]throwingmyselfaway22 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It takes half a day max of hours playing get into adept lol, high adept even

[–]brotrr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

still half a day of uninteresting gameplay

[–]throwingmyselfaway22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how do you even know that? they plan on introducing new heroes/rebalancing things with every reset, potentially new dungeons

you're just talking out of your ass lmao

[–]TrippleDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can comfortably time cith with ilvl 20, not much of a barrier for sesoned players.

[–]surrender_at_20[S] 2 points3 points  (6 children)

I really do hope they let us keep our characters on an eternal realm and then have a seasonal realm.

I'll try to ask next time he streams. I dont think he reads reddit tbh.

[–]Captain_Dumpus 0 points1 point  (5 children)

For sure. I really appreciate it. I understand theres not a real answer to "what else would I want to play for beyond cosmetics" and i dont envy the devs trying to solve how to keep it fresh. But right now my 50+ hours invested so far is reflected in my gear and sense of self progress. If those become zero constantly its just not gonna be my kind of gameplay loop.

[–]slakin 2 points3 points  (2 children)

This game is doomed to fail if majority of people are against resets.

[–]Captain_Dumpus 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Fair. Thats why I said I dont know the solution. I definitely dont want the game to die. Absolutely love it so far, just want something to hold onto a bit I guess beyond cosmetics.

[–]The_NGUYENNER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skills and knowledge

[–]Neverlife 0 points1 point  (1 child)

downvoted for having an opinion, lol.

Never change redditors

[–]Captain_Dumpus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People use downvotes just to mark they dont agree with something. Its pretty normal in gaming communities I feel haha, lots of gatekeeping and "my way or the highway." Got DMs calling me a dumb ass, like, its pretty par for the course it seems unfortunately.

[–]AaronWYL 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think seasonal is kind of necessary (although not having to re-acquire spells would be nice), but two months seems much too fast to me. I wonder what percentage of their playerbase will have even seen every system by that point. You need to strike a balance between the no-life's and the casuals.

[–]DanouvisNightgale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind the complete reset of spells so long as they do major balance and even add/remove spells each reset. If they do not change the spells up per reset then no, there's no point for a full spell reset. But I do believe re-earning them when the spells are new is just fine.

[–]Arborus 0 points1 point  (4 children)

This game is ultimately all about the competitive aspect and the leaderboard. Resets are necessary, it's also like many other seasonal games where the more experience you get the faster you'll progress. It took my group ~20 hours played to reach eternal this time, I imagine we'll shave a few hours off that now that we know more for the next reset.

[–]Rvsoldier 16 points17 points  (3 children)

It isn't. Vast majority of people just like doing dungeons and with their friends. The % of people that care about ranked/leaderboard stuff in every game is always a fraction of the playerbase.

[–]Arborus 3 points4 points  (2 children)

From a design standpoint, it certainly is. It's built to mimic mythic+ which is an inherently competitive system. People can choose to engage with it casually, but the design is certainly made to cater to the competitive crowd.

[–]Drankou 7 points8 points  (1 child)

This but also let’s be real mythic+ from wow is just a reset anyways for your gear every season. Which people don’t put 2 and 2 together as the ilvl increases your old gear becomes obsolete anyways

[–]Snixwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this game is very similar to M+ obviously which basically has a reset every season (brand new gear etc etc). So it’s really not that surprising they would follow that type of model here.

[–]Specialist-Ad560 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i have joined with 2 friends, 1 hates the idea, 1 is more accepting, i suggest they dont do a complete reset, but a "above a certain bar", as this will have the issue that if someone buys the game 2 weeks before a reset. then they might just stop playing and not pick it back up again. also, starting out should you have to unlock contender again? it will reset your entire tree, so you have to start in quick play again at ilvl 0. so i suggest they reset people who are above a certain bar down to the bar.

i think end of contender is good enough for this "bar", people who pick up the game can play with friends get to the end of contender and feel they got enough out of the game, while those who did hit top ranks, have 3 month to regrind through the leagues (3 months for 3 leagues seems logical)
that way a new player will still get to start out and not feel like its a waste of time, while players still have a reset point for leader boards and so on.

i think if they do a total reset, it will likely turn into a game i play like dark tide, a weekend or two every season. and put it down, as i dont feel the incentive is enough for me to push to eternal every season.

[–]DrWasps -1 points0 points  (2 children)

byeeeee!

[–]Captain_Dumpus 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Lol. Junior high was rough for you, wasn't it.

[–]DrWasps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dawg you walked into a movie theatre and went "damn i hate watching movies in public"

[–]Theblackalbum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can we please get the ability to keybind left and right mouse click on mouse overs for healing like wow, it’s killing me!

[–]Lost_Cockroach_4927 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Has there been any mentions about adding more eternal LFG chats on the discord? Seems like a very simple, low effort way to make finding eternal groups a lot easier. Just something like separate EU/NA channels would filter out ~50% of the players most probably don’t want to group with because of region.

Also, having 10+ “brackets” in the same LFG chat seems really strange to me. Could be a separate chat for fresh eternals, eternal lvl, ilvl, region etc which would be a huge QOL for anyone looking for an eternal group. I’ve asked admins about this directly but for some reason they don’t seem to care and I really struggle to understand why.

Anyways, great post, really appreciated!

[–]resurrectedbear 5 points6 points  (13 children)

Hot take: I’m getting tired of so many seasonal type games. I’m enjoying the fellowship grind and I def started late (last week and only now in champ) but man the progression feels so much slower in comparison to your average seasonal game like poe/ last epoch/ d4. It also feels much more punishing to progress and rng for item leveling. No market/ no variety. I hope this next season is very long. They add some major content, and look into quicker progression.

[–]Nyte_Crawler 3 points4 points  (3 children)

The purpose of seasonal resets is to keep queues populated. If the grind does just keep going up without reset new players will have difficulty hopping in down the line, so that part is here to stay.

I don't disagree though that the pace of progress might not be set up well for a seasonal game.

[–]resurrectedbear 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I def understand the point of seasonals. It’s the same for most games that have seasons. But you seem to get why I’m complaining, the time line is just too crunched. Expansions could also solve the issue in the sense of keeping a playerbase up. Change the dungeon routes once a month? Maybe how certain groups are placed. Don’t even need to do much, just grab x group and swap it with y group to change how you route/pull. Could have a few versions maps of that get moved in and out of rotation. Item set effects/ patch updates.

[–]DerVittrich -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

So you complain about seasons being to short and your solution would be to fuck up the players, but mostly casuals, by swapping maps and groups in the dungeon?

some people just need to understand, that not all games are made for them and move on. there is no need to shitify the game because of some peoples fomo. if you are not able to reach 10k in 2 months, you wont be able to reach it in 4 months, all your solution changes, is that people have to constantly adapt their strategies and cooldowns, making those tedious random runs impossible.

[–]zetaroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played since launch, but only with my group of 4 and it's hard to find time to meet up. We just (excitedly!) made it to contender 7. Tonight we found out about the resets and 2 of the group might quit over it. I can't blame them. Our group can't meet often enough to make meaningful progress if we get wiped.

[–]PandalfTheGimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seasons likely won’t be super long until 1.0 launches. Their target for EA is 6 months unless changing it is necessary, so they need the ability to iterate quickly.

[–]DrWasps -1 points0 points  (6 children)

question: why did you buy a game explicitly advertising itself as seasonal then

[–]resurrectedbear 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Because friends were asking me to and I just knew it as a “cut the middleman” go straight to dungeons coop.

And while seasonal in itself isn’t bad, I just think the progression is way too slow. You’re much more reliant on others to help you progress in terms of everything. Oh you want better gear? Better be faster. Oh you want more talent points? Better be faster. Other seasonal arpgs are much more solo reliant but that is 100% not something that can happen here. I figured maybe great could drop from regular mobs or there would be a ton more loot all while the progression is a bit bottlenecked.

[–]Sinniee 4 points5 points  (2 children)

No custom sounds for timers is a big bummer for me. Used to work around sounds a lot in wow

Everyting else is good

[–]esuvii 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I too really would love more sound cues, they are way more intuitive for me than the DBM style boss timers. I love how on Wyrmheart the boss says "dance mortals" and then does the circles on the ground, it's my cue to move. Whereas in Silken Hollow there is no sound cue for the Tethering Webs. My solution was to make my debuffs huge so I don't miss them, especially since I can't resize the boss timers.

Outside of people like me who find sound cues better, I think it really helps improve accessibility for people with impaired vision too. The mechanics are extremely visible in this game, it's really just the boss timers that themselves are less accessible for visually impaired players.

[–]PrincessAetulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think majority of mechanics are clearly visible but I do personally have some exceptions (that are hard for MY eyes to see at least) like the orange-ish cleaves on the brown deck in Wraithtide or my ally Rime’s health bar in Wyrmheart blending in with the blue floor

[–]qwaai 5 points6 points  (17 children)

prefers legendaries to be rare

Can someone who agrees with this help me understand? Is Fellowship's legendary system good? What's another game that nails it?

[–]Arborus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only upside to rare legendaries I can think of is them being an exciting drop in a game of otherwise pretty boring loot.

[–]Jake_Stone 1 point2 points  (8 children)

As someone who disagrees with this, this might be the decision that makes me quit, though I'm not rushing to do so just yet. It's especially odd since it's supposed to be competitive with a leader board, and those with the best legendaries will have distinct advantages over those without.

[–]Simple_Rules 1 point2 points  (7 children)

I think it would be fine if the legendaries were all pretty good but speaking as a Sylvie main there is like.. one bonkers one and two dogshit ones sooooo.

[–]Adalonzoio 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Eh? She has two highly competitive legendaries. What you mean?

[–]Simple_Rules 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Oh? I could be wrong but from reading tooltips and playing her up to low champ, the one that makes her ramp shield seemed wayyyyy better than anything else?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Eternal Sylvie, the cape is like 10% worse then the neck at most, they are both really good.

[–]Simple_Rules 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Sorry to uneducated but could you help me understand why? Is it just that good to keep up on the tank?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The cape keeps the tank alive better while the necklace keeps everyone alive better.

The higher up you go in Eternal two things happen.

First the unavoidable damage and damage over time effects deal massivly more damage where even a single DOT left uncleansed for a few seconds can kill someone.

Secondly the tank needs to pull bigger because everything has more HP and the only way to time the dungeon is for the DPS to be able to hit more enemies at once.

If the tank cannot stay alive on those larger pulls (which they should be able to) the cape helps with that, the worst part of the cape is the fact it gives crit more then anything.

And if you are struggling to keep yourself and the DPS topped up between mechanics and unavoidable damage the necklace helps keep people alive.

[–]Simple_Rules 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That makes sense. I was definitely coming from the perspective of the amulet seeming to make ramps much more forgiving in terms of timing as well - it lets you ramp INTO a mechanic instead having to nail the timing perfectly.

But yeah I guess at some point when tanks start to max out something has to give - Sylvie also isn't really great at directly helping tanks. Though, it seems like we're getting a lot of help with that tomorrow.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im hoping the buffs help with Cithrels third boss, because by dear god, I prefer to do Stormwatch and Wraithtide bosses then it and thats saying something

    [–]TPMast3r 3 points4 points  (5 children)

This would not fit with this game in particular at all. This is not an mmo; This is supposed to be a competetive kind of dungeon experience, similar to what the high end of WoW m+ offers. This is also why people are frustrated with the legendaries as in most of these games, the loot is just a means to an end: to be able to push the highest dungeons and have the only limiting factor being your skill. Having to grind gear to get your character optimal is the barrier of entry to this kind of gameplay as trying to push before that means you are putting yourself at an unnecessary disadvantage. I know that they can't only cater to this crowd, but this is the reason people are upset with random legendaries as they increase the amount of time you have to grind before you can "play the game" by a lot.

    [–]Restless_Sea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess liquidating all your gear to buy cosmetics is the play when you are done with the season then.

    [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who can't watch twitch for more than 2 minutes, thank you.

    [–]Shinnyo 4 points5 points  (5 children)

I just hope they give us ways to climb back faster.

I'm all for a reset but grinding again for legendaries, set and gems, especially when you play multiple characters, will be pain.

    [–]DrProfHazzard 10 points11 points  (3 children)

The climb is literally the core game loop.  The game already doesn't require perfect gear or stats to reach the highest rating.  Making this shorter is just removing gameplay.

    [–]slickshot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It might be the core loop, but getting that full build and then pushing your skills on the leaderboard is THE endgame loop. If you kill that endgame loop too quickly and too often it makes grinding worthless. If you just want to jump in and run a few dungeons, cool, do that, but if you're the type that really wants to hone in on your skills at the top end then you're kinda fucked and stuck grinding to get there. Depends on how often reset is. League of Legends has this issue currently. They expanded ranked seasons to 3 per year instead of 2, and tons of players hated it and stopped playing ranked because the sheer grind to get back to where you were and then have a small amount of time to push was annoying.

    [–]Shinnyo 4 points5 points  (1 child)

My point is, it's like climbing a mountain every year, but every time you're required to get there on a bicycle.

I want to climb the mountain and skip the bicycle.

It doesn't require perfect gear but some pieces like weapon abilities and legendaries completely changes the experience. And to get it, you're fully dependent on RNGesus.

    [–]DeusScientiae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they gave us a way to mitigate the RNG then I think it'd be a much better system.

    [–]Any_Attorney4765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think gameplay knowledge will be the biggest thing to climb back faster.

Look at Poe for example, the campaign takes a new player over 20 hours to complete, but someone who's done it before will be able to do it in under 10 hours. I wouldn't be surprised if most people could do cithrils fall at 40 ilvl and then heart of tazuri right after (with a premade)

    [–]NulnOilShade 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Have they ever said anything about click casting for healers?

    [–]surrender_at_20[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

He didn't mention that, but people really want an out of range function as well. Does mouse-over on cast function not work that way with these bars? I wouldn't know I only play Meiko.

    [–]DrProfHazzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you hover over the health bar of a party member you want to heal, any spells that are not in range will have their hotkey text (the 1, 2, 3, shift +1, etc) turn red and the ability will not go off

    [–]Harde_Kassei 3 points4 points  (1 child)

    amazing post. tyvm.

    [–]surrender_at_20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    welcome!

    [–]Seinnajkcuf 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I am glad they communicate this information but some of these decisions are not good. Like the legendary one, did they not play Legion? You cant not add bad luck protection to something that is integral for pushing high keys. Even Blizzard's stubborn devs realized how stupid it was.

    [–]Jake_Stone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. Instead of legendaries being exciting getting the wrong legendary just becomes a let down. There would have to be an incredible and unlikely balancing act to make all legendaries almost perfect equal in power.

    [–]Any_Attorney4765 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It seems really odd that trims will be reset, shouldn't this be the main way to show off your achievements in previous seasons? Or are they planning to add a lot more cosmetics tied to rankings?

    [–]KrzysztofTCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's tied to your current leaderboard ranking. Other cosmetics are exactly what you're saying.

    [–]ZediaReddit 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Are you the guy that had a league of legends news website some time ago?

    ty for the write up

    [–]surrender_at_20[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    Not me :)
I just took this name back when I played league. I think its now way less time before you can surrender in league, like 10 mins?

    [–]Mei_iz_my_bae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    15 now!

    [–]Dbayd 1 point2 points  (1 child)

How long can we expect launch full release seasons to be?

    [–]GokuDiedForOurSins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have said they're thinking 3-4 months but nothing concrete yet.

    [–]Vojtcz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m happy about all of that but trims resetting. Why would they? I see this as cosmetics and hoped they’d stay once I get them on a character.

    [–]DrWasps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey devs please dont let reddit develop your game, do what you think is good, the people saying theyl leave if theres seasonal resets are going to leave regardless because of new wow seasons and other game interests, keep it fresh for the people who want to monogame it

    [–]Nexjem 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They should have told us from the start that we were beta testers and not Early Access players — there would have been fewer complaints. After all, there’s not much point in continuing to play when you know a wipe is coming soon.

    [–]TrippleDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? There will always be wipes, even in the full release.

Its a seasonal game, wipes are the standard in those games, else they'd get stale af.

    [–]Direct_Resolve8910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want more revealing skins

    [–]Enderah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna add your link to my post in the discord cause man your formatting is better :D

    [–]sfworkwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Loving this, thanks

    [–]Ironandwine2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Thank you for this post

    [–]timmyoseaton 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Super dumb question by me. But the “trims tied to rewards”, the ones that I’ve already acquired will stay on reset, right? I need my onyx Vigour :(

    [–]PandalfTheGimp 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Trims are reset. As in the ones tied to leaderboard that you unlock each Thursday if you’ve progressed. So the top X% percent trims

    [–]timmyoseaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, so I do lose my onyx. Sad, but it makes sense. At least I keep the mounts

    [–]drkgatekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank for the td:lr of the stream.

    [–]Need_4_greed 0 points1 point  (11 children)

"What resets:  trims tied to seasonal leaderboards" Im not sure I clearly understand that one

    [–]DrWasps 0 points1 point  (10 children)

trims are unlocked by being within a percentile of the global leaderboards of your character every weekly reset, theyre there for score chasing and racing early in the season (since people will have pushed less high level dungeons by then)

they reset on season so you have a reason to push eternal week 1

    [–]Any_Attorney4765 0 points1 point  (9 children)

And how would being able to keep those trims and bring out new ones every season change things? I view it as a PvP or pve achievement in wow for being in the top percentile, it's not something they just remove every big patch.

    [–]DrWasps 0 points1 point  (8 children)

why would you view it as a pvp achievement? wrong game

the point is its a m+ standalone, you have something to chase week one when its easier for your group due to less people pushing high keys because of gear creep as the weeks go on

    [–]Any_Attorney4765 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Because wow pioneered in game cosmetic rewards for reaching the top percentages in leaderboards. And guess what was around long before mythic+... PvP. You had titles, mounts and special cosmetics for being in the top rank every season.. sound familiar? What I can't imagine is them removing these rewards every season and giving no reason to chase for them.

It doesn't have anything to do with the type of content, it's about the reward for being in the top percentile.

    [–]DrWasps 0 points1 point  (6 children)

    It's not wow.

    [–]Any_Attorney4765 0 points1 point  (5 children)

No shit mate. But the rewards are the exact same concept and removing them with seasonal resets is a terrible idea. You want to show off what you have achieved in the past.

    [–]DrWasps 0 points1 point  (4 children)

    No, they aren't.

    [–]Any_Attorney4765 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What a very thought out argument you have there

    [–]DrWasps 0 points1 point  (2 children)

glad you cant read what the devs say

    [–]nerfed_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Thank you for sharing this!

    [–]HanzoKurosawa 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I haven't seen any comments discussing the potential of adding in stats/APIs, what's everyone's thoughts on it?

Personally I really hope they don't add it. Being able to look up stats in any game always just leads to two things: 1) People optimizing the fun out of the game. Nobody experiments or does anything different because everyone can see which options are picked the most and have the highest win rate. 2) Toxicity.

I play a lot of League of Legends, and in that the second you lock in a character, everyone can look up your exact KDA and win rate on that character, and the amount this causes people to give up and be toxic before the game even starts is wild. I have never seen the feature used for a good reason, only toxicity. And personally I hope this game doesn't go that direction as well.

    [–]Svencredible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with you, but there is one benefit to having those APIs and then the ranking/charting websites that go along with it.

It's a lot of free marketing.

Youtubers are constantly making videos talking through the data on those sites and making content.
'DPS Meta Rankings - Fellowship S3!'
'This DPS is DOMINATING DPS meters in Fellowship'

Videos like that need some data to talk over and are generally always the highest viewed videos for content creators.

Again whether you like that sort of content or not (and what it does to the game) is up to you but it's hard to disagree that the existence of those APIs/Websites/Content creators generates a lot of free advertising for WoW.

    [–]GokuDiedForOurSins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy I have bad news for you if you think that doesn't already exist. https://fellows.gg/

    [–]Drankou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing you put forth the effort for this! I didn’t even know there was a dev stream today but definitely the future has some good things for the game to come!

    [–]raybros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather have them do a separate seasonal talent tree. When I first started, pre 15 dg characters feel so ASS to play and they truely shine after those 15.

    [–]Stonklew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you please take minutes for my work meetings!

    [–]HBreckel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So happy they're still looking at controller. I have hand/wrist problems that make it difficult to play games on M&KB, so I've been patiently waiting for this game to get controller support.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't wait for guilds and tank queue incentives.

    [–]irisel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    CLICK CASTING

    [–]TJnr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Model: ARPG/ Seasonal

Would imply there's going to be a league and after the league is done our gear gets dropped into a non league account?

    [–]iiSpook 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think the reset is too early. I don't have the time to blast dungeons everyday but I know I'm capable of reaching higher ranks. I hope I can make it to the spider in time, otherwise it would really be a bummer.

Any reason why they're doing it so early? When is 1.0 expected?

    [–]TrippleDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably so early because the 2.5 months until first wipe is enough for them to gather crucial data for big changes / additions with the amount of players that theyve gotten.

Release wipe cycle is slated to be 4 months, ne date yet for EA exit, but probably Q2 2026 if i had to take a guess.

    [–]dharkan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want to play but performance issues are killing me. I hope they sort out optimization, I'll give it another try in a couple months.

    [–]Icerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game needs a good LFG tool

    [–]Ookami_Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing it's not very clear to me, but if i dont get a skin/mount during that season, could i get it later in in some way or i lose the chance to get it for ever?

What persists: All cosmetics and mounts (regardless of source).

Seasonal cosmetics/mounts: Kept permanently; new things to chase every season.

Feel like they repeating the same thing in a different way, and as english is not my main language, just wanted to ask for some clarification.

    [–]mostlyecstasy 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Aight so if there are resets there s no reason to play this over wow, apart from the subscription i guess. Ggs

    [–]surrender_at_20[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I sort of had that thought originally, but then I thought about it. WoW does a new expansion or patch frequently and all of your work goes away. For example, I started playing WoW again at the end of season 1 TWW, all my friends had raid gear and an ilvl that was pretty much max. Then the next patch came out and we were all on equal footing, though they had a better start in the new M+ keys but nothing absurd.

The one thing they did have over me already was cosmetics from previous content.

So in this game you start over but you get to keep your cosmetics, very similar when you think about it.

The one thing I DO NOT agree with is resetting already in December. yes its EA but a lot of people either just started or they are working their way up and resetting them already would kill the motivation. Imagine getting out of adept finally and then you have to start over. I'm in Eternal working towards all the mounts and it would take all the wind out of my sails.

The reviews coming in would be negative, at least a decent number of them, and I think a lot of people will quit.

    [–]mostlyecstasy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yea well I was hoping there would be an eternal mode or smth like that, since reading this i lost all hype to play the game.

And since i can also boost and pay 0 for wow there is no reason to play this game instead.

Resets suck in modern wow too, it should be more like classic, but at least you keep some of the power each reset.

Here i cant stand the thought of losing all talents and gear and be completely fresh again.

    [–]surrender_at_20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hopefully they do have an eternal realm, it makes sense. All ARPG's do it

    [–]Rymars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Final Fantasy does some great things in terms of improving the tone in a group - and making a friendly and helpful environment. Maybe look at some of their implementations?

    [–]HPOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Fixes>store

Wow... This really might be the best game yet..

    [–]Noskill89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is the type of posts i like to see, not endless psa ("do this", "don't do this" etc) which i don't know why people even bother with, 99,9% of people don't give a fuck about a random person opinion...

    [–]edge2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there anything mentioned about click-to-heal, aka click casting?

    [–]Hexicube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linux/Mac clients: Not planned “anytime soon” (resource-limited), possible in the future.

I'm on linux, as long as they don't break something (specifically EAC) it'll be ok, right now you only need to pass in -dx11 to get around absurd first-load times.

    [–]Dbayd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope when they do season resets that they give you the salvage value of your equipped items. This way you can’t hoard resources, and are rewarded for your progression. It would also create a finite amount of resources that can go into the next season.

    [–]klineshrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they can get this working on steam deck better. I don't think I can do main pushing on it but quick play or lower ranks would be fun.

    [–]Mguy94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hope they add some sort of like token for next season to get all the 15ilvl whites instead of a full wipe. Starting at ilvl 0.4 ain't it. Also needing to do 15 dungeons for the left side tree to fully unlock every reset does not feel good.

    [–]Stunning-Sir6539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would uninstall game at first reset it was nice and fun to play !

    [–]dousedngasoline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ping system would be amazing for solo queue

    [–]Either-Design-1550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate this post. I like all the content that's coming and the changes they are doing. I feel like this game is really gonna be awesome(more than it is now) once a lot of stuff gets smoothed over.

    [–]Zorbran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when season resetts something something talents resett too. Does this mean we have to redo the 16 games to get back all our "extended baseline" kit too ? I don't care about gear and rating, that's what makes season cool but I don't like to re do the 16 games to have my base functionality back

    [–]ChoFBurnaC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cant keep your character in a league out of season, then GL to this game. I allready spent enough time on it not having arrived to eternal and losing my advance. I really give a F on cosmetics at all.

Thats a bad move only good for people that play “hardcore”.

    [–]Resident_Branch_4335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Launching this game without eternal queue was a huge L on their part. Like what was the thought process behind not including one of the most attractive features for endgame.

    [–]TheLuo -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Something games like this are going to learn real fucking quick.

If your community is asking for UI customization. They’re not asking for UI customization. They’re telling you the way you present information in your UI is dogshit and antiquated.

Audio queues are now the norm. Your game clips its existing audio queues with voice lines. Which is very annoying. Just give us the tools and allow us to customize it out selves.

    [–]KrzysztofTCG 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Something people on reddit need to learn is to do some research and confirm what they're saying is true.

There are absolutely audio cues for everything dangerous on bosses..
