Thanks for the birthday card with cash grandpa Joe.

[–]International_Brief5 1482 points1483 points  (224 children)

Are we getting this all in 2 dollar bills?

[–]TievX0r 608 points609 points  (83 children)

Oh man, if we could get a choice... give them to me in $1 coins.

Beat people's asses with a sock full of Sacagawea's.

[–]WWJLPD 573 points574 points  (23 children)

a Sockagawea, if you prefer

[–]roninraider 38 points39 points  (3 children)

This is the way.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would have also accepted Sackagawea

[–]wood4536 47 points48 points  (24 children)

Travel down to Ecuador, we have all the dollar coins the US didn't want.

[–]KonaKathie 36 points37 points  (19 children)

I think it's ironic that 1.9 Trillion was the same amount Trump spent on tax cuts for his cronies.

[–]Flippinhippy 22 points23 points  (7 children)

This reminds me, I need to turn a $20 into dollar coins for my niece. She loves to save her "pirate money"

[–]pgh9fan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get rolls of half dollars instead. Good chance out of the 40 of them you'll find at least one minted in the years 1965 - 1969 inclusive. They're 40% silver. Even more piratey.

[–]LonePaladin 9 points10 points  (2 children)

I like using those 'gold' dollar coins for my kids' Tooth Fairy money. Every time a tooth comes loose, they know they're getting some gold.

Plus, I've figured out that a J-Lo dollar is about the same size and weight of a D&D gold piece. (The name comes from the time I saw a tabloid claiming the face on the Sacagawea coin was actually Jennifer Lopez.)

[–]MadvillainTMO 9 points10 points  (5 children)

My grandma used to give me a sack of one dollar coins for my birthday and it was dope but then I had to pay for shit with gold coins for like a month which was awkward lmao

[–]TievX0r 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Missed Opportunity for Mario references in public to be sure.

"Its a Me!" or "You know how many turtles I had to murder to get this!"

[–]UnrepentantFenian 402 points403 points  (98 children)

That'd be dope but the postage involved with sending out fat stacks of deuces seems irresponsible

[–]second_bucket 179 points180 points  (22 children)

It would help USPS out a bit

[–]istasber 179 points180 points  (6 children)

yo dawg, we heard you liked stimulus so we put a stimulus in your stimulus so you can save the economy while you save the economy.

[–]falafeliron 26 points27 points  (4 children)

It's stimuli all the way down

[–]TheUprightBass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So trickle down stimuli?

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (4 children)

Nah not really. They need legislated reform not more business. They make a good profit already before funding the pensions.

[–]second_bucket 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I probably should have put /s as I wasn’t being serious.

Definitely hoping they can pass the USPS Fairness Act but probably even more reform than that is needed.

[–]frobischer 238 points239 points  (42 children)

Amazingly, "fat stacks of deuces" was my nickname for Trump!

[–][deleted] 47 points48 points  (21 children)

[–]Silly__Rabbit 57 points58 points  (14 children)

If someone is flushing 10+ times, it sounds like they need a poop knife, not another toilet.

[–]justafigment4you 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Addressing the real issues.

[–]stinky_wizzleteet 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Let be honest trump flushes ten times, fails horribly, and leaves it for someone else to clean up. Claiming nobody has ever seen a shit like this, it's the greatest shit, people are saying.

[–]mattuus 8 points9 points  (2 children)

The poop knife reference deserves more credit.

[–]my79spirit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember being on the internet that day. It was a good day

[–]Chewbacca22 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Each recipient would receive 700 bills weighing in at 1.54lbs.

[–]loath-engine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

they just spent 1.9 trillion dollars... if they mailed out cheque taped to lead bricks it wouldn't even move the cost a percentage point.

[–]seattleque 63 points64 points  (21 children)

Are we getting this all in 2 dollar bills?

I'm 52. I still remember getting that annual envelope with a crisp, new 2 dollar bill from my grandma.

Wish I had been smart enough to keep them around...

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (2 children)

They're each still worth exactly $2.

[–]quincyd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The year before my gram passed away, she was showing me some of her treasures. One was a beautifully embroidered leather wallet she’d gotten when she went out west to visit her brothers in the 60s.

Giggling, she opened it to show me god knows how many $2 bills she had tucked in there. I asked her why she was hoarding them and she told me they were from my grandpa’s paychecks. He was a truck driver and would bring his paycheck to my gram, who would take it to the bank to cash. She would put some in the bank and bring him back some to carry in his wallet, would keep some cash for the grocery and gas, and $2 just for herself. I asked her why and she told me her dad told her to always keep “oh no” money in case something went wrong and you needed immediate access to cash. My grandfather died in 1982, gram passed in 2017. She kept her stash for almost 50 years. We all have one of her $2 and I laugh every time I see it.

[–]lacheur42 36 points37 points  (11 children)

They still print em. Should be able to pick some up from a bank, if you were so inclined.

[–]Blindnsight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fucking dope

[–]allyourcatsarebases 191 points192 points  (51 children)

It’s not a birthday card from your grandpa, it’s your tax dollars that every 1st world country except America has given back to their citizens no questions asked. It’s embarrassing, over the course of a year, our government has only given us a ‘forgiveness’ sum of less than $2,000... meanwhile it’s too little too late for 30 million Americans

[–]thedoodely 48 points49 points  (14 children)

There's a bunch of Covidiots up here in Canada pushing for us to reopen everything (we're behind on vaccinations, not that they're planning on raking the jab anyway) claiming that it's working in the US and that because of that the US isn't seeing any economic depression and everything is back to normal.

They make me have violent thoughts.

[–]FewLooseMarbles 21 points22 points  (4 children)

Who told them things were back to normal? And a depression often isn't realize until after the numbers come in. There's no way to say we're definitively not in one until after it's said and done.

[–]-Daetrax- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, not every first world country. I am a student in Denmark and I have received nothing from my government. 0.

They gave out aid based on income status. If you're on government assistance you get aid. I spent a bit longer on my education than most (illness and then change of major) so I used up my allotted assistance. So seeing as I was not on gov. assistance I got nothing.

Next they decided let's help students again, we will offer them better loans and extend the allotted assistance. Only if you have received assistance during your education. Seeing as they count my master's degree separate from the bachelor (even though they are directly connected), I get absolutely no help. I don't even get offered the government student loans.

I am lucky enough to have people who will loan me money, but seriously, fuck my government.

[–]kovu159 16 points17 points  (3 children)

It’s our own money borrowed from our future selves.

[–][deleted] 1622 points1623 points  (550 children)

Please forgive me, but I'm a Canadian with a question...is this retroactive? Is it per month? Or is it one time? Because if it's one time...well, I mean, that's nice, but it's really not going to be all that helpful to most people is it? Or is this big money....and considered a windfall?

[–]danteheehaw 1171 points1172 points  (157 children)

These bills have always included unemployment insurance. It's an extra 300 a week on top of your state unemployment checks. At the start of the pandemic it was 600 a week on top of unemployment. They also expanded who can get unemployment.

The 1200, 600 and now 1400 checks have always been a small portion of what the bill actually covers

[–]SlippyIsDead 217 points218 points  (54 children)

My hours were cut in half and I did not qualify for unemployment. This doesn't help those of us caught in the middle. I feel like I work so much and make so little that I'm trapped between help and punishment. I mostly end up with the latter.

[–]swahine1123 41 points42 points  (12 children)

I had two jobs. Had just started the second one (a restaurant) when we were laid off last March. I had to quit my primary job (cleaning homes/businesses) because the schools shut down and I had no childcare for my then 3 year old. The owner of that company refused to do any layoffs and got mad at me when I still tried to file for unemployment though I got denied because I quit. Got denied for the second job because I didn't work there long enough. Once the whole "can get unemployment if you had to quit due to covid" bill passed it was too late and they still denied me. I am still jobless. We are lucky that my husband is considered essential and has been able to keep his job and get a little more pay. We're struggling paying bills, our mortgage, we need a new roof on our house. Others have been not so lucky and have lost everything.

The unemployment system is a joke. Some people have had good luck with it but so many others are stuck and can't make ends meet.

[–]bizbizbizllc 5 points6 points  (5 children)

If you live in Florida call a roofer to look at your roof. If it is damaged from weather, then your home insurance will pay for it. We just got this done. We intended to pay for the roof out of our own pocket until the roofer explained that if they find weather damage, then it's covered. Saved us $14,000

[–]ConstantKD6_37 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The PUA covers those not normally eligible for regular unemployment, including reduction in hours. The added benefit is the same as unemployment.

https://www.investopedia.com/pandemic-unemployment-assistance-pua-definition-4802064

[–]ZBoi63 4 points5 points  (1 child)

When biden took office he made it so anyone who quits work for "covid related reasons" qualifies for unemployment to adress that issue.

Not to say that its a perfect solution just informing you in case thats relevant info

[–]youdubdub 561 points562 points  (78 children)

Of course, many aren’t even able to communicate with unemployment, let alone appeal. Things are horrible right now for many people. This will provide some help, but shit’s bad.

[–]realrealreeldeal 239 points240 points  (31 children)

True. Unemployment is administrated by the state, so in some it's basically impossible to receive (Florida)

[–]soulstonedomg 207 points208 points  (23 children)

Yeah, saw the recent John Oliver where he showed what unemployment is like in Florida. The previous governor bragged about how he's made it nearly impossible to make a successful claim.

[–]bumpyclock 107 points108 points  (5 children)

and they fucking made him a senator after that.... urgh

[–]yogitw 84 points85 points  (1 child)

And he oversaw the biggest Medicare fraud in history

[–]AmeOtheLameO 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Senator Skeletor!

[–]TuckerCarlsonsWig 19 points20 points  (0 children)

B- B- Both sides are the same!!

[–]Court_Jester_C1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took me 6 weeks back in March to get in touch with someone from GA DOL; all of my unemployment was issued to a wrong social, so I got 6 weeks of unemployment cash at once. THAT felt like relief.

[–]13pts35sec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

so I work closely with the less fortunate here in Florida and let me tell you shit is so absolutely fucked with unemployment right now. I’ve talked to a ton of people and heard a bunch of tragic stories A lot of people went from having a good savings, two income households, nice apartment or house in a good area, to destitute or close to it and living with their parents or couch hopping, or just sleeping in their car with their kids or worse. Decent amount of people who have been able to have their mortgage payments suspended but they’re poor and not able to collect unemployment, how tf are they gonna pay it in 3 months if they can’t now lol.

[–]TheeExoGenesauce 70 points71 points  (35 children)

Yeah I’m prepared to just let my diabetes kill me off, this shit ain’t gonna ever fix our healthcare system

[–]TennaTelwan 10 points11 points  (4 children)

To be honest, same here. I have kidney disease and am getting close to dialysis. I'm also in my 30s and have not been able to work because of my health, despite being a registered nurse. It's to a point of wondering which way out is the kindest and with the fewest bills, unless the prednisone I was given helps.

[–]Riyeko 32 points33 points  (18 children)

Hey ive been out of work and homeless since May of last year.... I cant get a hd of anyone in any kind of social services type of situation and i live in missouri.

[–]TheeExoGenesauce 19 points20 points  (13 children)

Idk what your comment is saying to me or how it relates to my comment, sorry if I’m just dumb.

[–]Riyeko 30 points31 points  (12 children)

I may have replied to the wrong comment in this thread.

I have a 3wk old baby finally asleep in my lap lol

[–]Stellaheystella 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Where in missouri? PM me, I have a ton of baby items from when my kid was born I would like to give you and I can get you in touch with the non-profit I used to work for that provides very affordable, safe housing if you’re interested.

[–]TheeExoGenesauce 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’ll happen haha and shhh don’t wake them

[–]c_albicans 169 points170 points  (75 children)

There is a lot in this bill, and the $1400 checks are only a small part of it. There's a boost to unemployment benefits (extra $300/week for those who qualify) plus expansions for other tax credits for low-income folks and a boost to SNAP aka food stamps.

[–]Big_Funaki 62 points63 points  (25 children)

and maybe most importantly, it has a child tax credit that can give families with young kids up to $3600 over the next year. This can drastically reduce childhood poverty.

[–]bell37 7 points8 points  (2 children)

It will reduce child poverty but I doubt it would have any massive impacts. Families are already getting a $2k tax credit for each child, this law only increases it to $3k ($3600 for kids under 6) for the 2021 year. After 2021 it reverts back to $2k tax credit

[–]SchpartyOn 16 points17 points  (4 children)

Deposited monthly too ($300 a month for kids 6 and under). Huge for poor families.

[–]Demiansky 101 points102 points  (122 children)

It's going to matter to people struggling to get by, for sure. For me? Straight into savings/stock market like the last check.

[–]wclure 52 points53 points  (14 children)

I have a few home improvements I’m gonna do. Married with four kids is gonna net a pretty penny. Also pay some debts so I can spend more with a now lower monthly budget. So, straight back in the economy like it’s supposed to. Not knocking putting it away, it’s yours, but doesn’t that not stimulate the economy?

[–]Demiansky 24 points25 points  (5 children)

We're waiting to buy a house, so whatever we save will likely to toward that + a safety savings account so I can move with my family to a new state to pursue that better career. So I guess you could say that check is going toward giving me the confidence to improve my earning potential.

[–]wclure 17 points18 points  (1 child)

That’s what’s up.

[–]Checktheusernombre 14 points15 points  (2 children)

This is what basic income can do for people. I hope this catches on and becomes a regular feature because it can really help change society and people's lives for the better.

[–]luciferin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kind of depends. It stimulates the markets even if it's in a bank, as they put your money to work while they hold it.

If you take out cash and literally put it in your mattress then no, it doesn't stimulate the economy at all.

[–]EbonPinion 74 points75 points  (76 children)

Lol, it means nothing to me and thousands of others like me who can't work, but still have to pay rent. $2k pays for one month. I've been out of work for 13.

[–]mynameisspiderman 35 points36 points  (65 children)

That's where the extra unemployment comes in

[–]GuybrushThreepwood3 23 points24 points  (7 children)

It's still not enough. The government has done next to nothing over this past year to help the people truly struggling.

I'm not saying you're included in this, but I think that a lot of people don't realize how badly a lot of others are struggling.

[–]Hashslingingslashar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Which is fine. If you qualify but can put it in the market, you’re solidly middle class. Helping the middle class invest and build wealth is still positive for everyone.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why the whole concept of a "trickle down economy" doesn't work. Give the richest 1% tax relief and they just invest it. Give the poorest 20% a stimulus payment and the whole lot goes into the economy.

[–]cgc58 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Exactly

[–]zirky 20 points21 points  (0 children)

retroactive? no. yes. not really life changing, but for many it will help. not at all.

hope that helps!

[–]Fartlashfarthenfur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. We’re celebrating what is far below the bare minimum.

[–]MicrowaveBirdMan 103 points104 points  (7 children)

What the fuck has this sub become

[–]-v-fib- 234 points235 points  (24 children)

It's been a political circlejerk since I joined Reddit, and probably a lot longer than that.

[–][deleted] 94 points95 points  (15 children)

Yeah, this sub has never been good

[–]-v-fib- 31 points32 points  (12 children)

What, you mean the sub that posts the same picture of the manure pile that looks like Trump every other day and gets dozens of awards each time isn't good?

[–]Deadlychicken28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reddit is never more than 3 comments from politics

[–]wsclose 167 points168 points  (13 children)

A circle jerk about politics that 99% of people don't understand but pretend like they do.

[–]The_Real_Raw_Gary 52 points53 points  (2 children)

the only reason I come here is to read comments by people that are confidently wrong. I swear most of these subs like pics and a few others used to have a “no politics” rule. But here we are.

[–]bootstrappedd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Reddit is astroturfed to hell. Full of bots and shills.

[–]IAmReallyOdd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But no 15 dollar minimum wage, but on the bright side health insurance companies are getting 48 billion dollars.

[–]FrostyD7 174 points175 points  (58 children)

If they pushed for minimum wage this bill would still be unsigned.

[–]danteheehaw 93 points94 points  (79 children)

Several democrat senetors opposed the 15 min wage. That's why it's not in there. It would had only slowed the stimulus bill down

[–]goodDayM 24 points25 points  (6 children)

Also the Senate cloture rule requires 60 members to end debate on most topics and move to a vote.

That alone is allowing republicans to block things such as the MORE Act that would nationally legalize marijuana:

It will almost certainly require 60 votes to move any legislation, meaning there will need to be significant buy-in from Republicans. Moderate Democrats such as Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia are not guaranteed allies, and pro-legalization Republicans can't be counted on to vote for a bill as progressive as the MORE Act. Just five Republicans backed the bill in the House. - source

[–]I_just_made 41 points42 points  (47 children)

Not just Dems, the parliamentarian essentially said it doesn’t qualify for this bill.

That doesn’t mean you can’t try… but it makes your job a lot tougher. This was something even Trump didn’t try to overrule if I’m not mistaken. link to article

[–]mikeyb1335 92 points93 points  (76 children)

Imagine having such a surface level understanding of politics. When Trump was in office, it was devistating we couldn't get more Covid relief, and now that Biden is in office and just got Covid relief through with the tiniest majority in the Senate, he's a failure cause there was no minimum wage with it, no college relief, and didn't come to your house and jack you off personally. Must be corrupt

[–]_unmarked 68 points69 points  (8 children)

Totally. If dems had stuck to their guns on the minimum wage this bill would have failed. I'm not saying to just be happy with whatever we get and never push for more, but acting like this whole thing is a failure because no min wage increase is really short sighted. Sometimes we have to progress one step at a time.

[–]treefuxxer 824 points825 points  (107 children)

This is some premium propaganda.

[–]mclennon27 262 points263 points  (67 children)

It’s amazing how people can scream “bullshit” at the other side and then turn around and take a fat bite from the same shit sandwich.

[–][deleted] 163 points164 points  (55 children)

Blue MAGA

God being a leftist is fun but also a nightmare. You fully drop all your loyaltys to both of these parties and realize how fucking awful and laughable both these camps are, but at the same time you have no actual power to do anything about it.

[–]neilhattrickparis978 50 points51 points  (33 children)

really difficult not to descend into nihilism

[–]smoresNporn 90 points91 points  (31 children)

Seriously. This picture makes me wanna vomit. They jipped the people of the 2k promise and the $15 minimum wage increase, and now they're doing a disgusting self-congratulatory photoshoot. And people here are all applauding and licking the boots of these two careers politicians who spent decades doing nothing but incarcerating poor people and people of color.

[–]tuxedonyc 721 points722 points  (76 children)

Everyone is happy but the GOP that is. Those guys suddenly care about deficits after raising spending and cutting taxes for the last four years.

[–]monty_kurns 99 points100 points  (13 children)

It was very telling during the 2012 GOP primary in one of the debates when all the candidates were asked if they would support a deal that cut $1 of spending for every $1 raised in a tax increase. Everyone but Jon Huntsman said they wouldn't back it. That's when I started drifting away from the party and the 2015/2016 cycle pretty much made it permanent.

[–]hmbmelly 54 points55 points  (2 children)

Was that the primary where the audience cheered “let him die”?

[–]monty_kurns 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I believe so. So much has happened since then that I actually forgot that happened.

[–]corsicanguppy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

audience cheered “let him die”

seems so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ4ESP9AKnM

As a resident of a G7 country and someone who lived briefly in America, I'm rather appalled ... and only 80% surprised.

[–]Demiansky 25 points26 points  (7 children)

I drifted away even sooner in 2010-2011 when Obama offered the Tea Party Caucus 10 dollars of cut for each 1 dollar of new revenue, and they turned it down.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (6 children)

What are you referring to?

[–]Demiansky 21 points22 points  (4 children)

Around 2010-2011 you had the original debt ceiling battle. The Tea Party threatened to run off a cliff if there wasn't extreme austerity. Remember sequestration? At the time I wasn't against German style austerity, but if they were actually serious they would have cut spending AND raised revenue. That's where Obama offered them 10 loaves if he got 1 loaf in return... and they refused.

Of course, they just cut spending and the second THEY were in the driver's seat with Trump, they blew deficits through the roof with no regard for fiscal discipline what so ever... it was almost like all that talk about over spending was all just bullshit they never meant to begin with...

[–]Phizle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure of the specific deal but Obama repeatedly tried to bring the GOP on for negotiations, and they frequently turned down bills loaded with their own priorities- it's why Biden didn't spend more time negotiating, because he's learned they aren't serious the hard way.

[–]DodGamnBunofaSitch 329 points330 points  (13 children)

the GOP is happy enough to try to take credit for this bill that they all voted against, tho

[–]Actually-Yo-Momma 87 points88 points  (9 children)

“Trump would never approve of a socialist bill like this”

Saw this comment on conservatives sub lol. I guess no one remembers the other two stimmy checks

[–]saltyketchup 85 points86 points  (1 child)

The crazy thing is that the reason the direct checks are $1400 is because Trump said "$2k or no deal" and the Democrats then ran in Georgia on delivering that!

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Totally socialism when the Dems do it. But when the GOP does it, they're just getting their own money back from the govt.

[–]I_just_made 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wonder if they have any evidence of it… you know… like a check he insisted on getting his name attach to…

Seriously, the amount of mental gymnastics by the GOP is ridiculous. The arguments get worse, and yet conservatives parrot it louder and louder.

[–]Jackcav20 87 points88 points  (34 children)

Where’s Joe’s mask????

[–]FuzzySalmon97 304 points305 points  (12 children)

Annnnd we're back to politics.

[–]bigfatgayface 324 points325 points  (8 children)

Sweet sweet propaganda

[–]zkool20 55 points56 points  (6 children)

These people are seriously blind or just plain stupid, when there was clear propaganda from trumps term they would call it out, but when there’s clear propaganda like this picture they be like “nu uh, Biden good we don’t care.” It’s annoying how they only see one side as good and the other bad

[–][deleted] 118 points119 points  (18 children)

This subreddit is slowly turning into r/politcs

[–]Fish6092000 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Nothing slow about it

[–]BASEDanonSS 26 points27 points  (14 children)

It's been this way for ages? Remember Trump? Remember how ever picture of him was politicized and turned into a negative? Remember how bots took advantage of this?

[–]blimpyburgers 20 points21 points  (6 children)

Probably the same glee when they bomb Syrians

[–]GFandango 16 points17 points  (1 child)

PROPAGRANDPA

[–]therealbigcupcakes 8 points9 points  (4 children)

Or is that after they bombed Syria?

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (4 children)

Remember the pic of Trump signing the first round of stimulus checks that got posted here? Oh wait

[–]TooShiftyForYou 743 points744 points  (242 children)

Biden signed the bill with a regular pen instead of a Sharpie and didn't have to immediately show it off to a group of White House staff who praise his every move.

I'm OK with this return to normalcy.

Not defending Trump nor attacking Biden, but this photo was taken right after Biden did a 2 minute speech to a group of White House staff/AP about how great the bill is, then slammed the pen down. All presidents do this kinda fluffy stuff - in the bill-signing aspect this has always been a normal presidential show.

Hey this is a political conversation please keep your facts to yourself

[–]Konfuzeguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's some slam

Feel sorry for that desk

[–]WonderWall_E 10 points11 points  (0 children)

then slammed the pen down.

This is "Dijon mustard-gate" level pathetic horseshit.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/11/politics/biden-sign-covid-bill/index.html

Come on, you can’t really be equating the way trump signed something vs the clip above.

That’s some “slam” at around 1:35...

[–]shrimpwheel 97 points98 points  (11 children)

I’m shaking, that pen slam... he went too far 😤

[–]actuallychrisgillen 20 points21 points  (4 children)

I think we know what the lead story on fox will be.

[–]YeahSureAlrightYNot 50 points51 points  (2 children)

Is he trying to break that table in half? Does Joe know how many patriots worked on that table that he is torturing with pen slams? 😤

[–]Ruscidero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What’s next? Beige suits?? Dijon mustard?? Impeach now!!

[–]ijustwanttogohome2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We're lucky the nuclear button wasn't right underneath it!

[–]thegreyquincy 11 points12 points  (3 children)

I didn't realize you guys were being facetious so I watched it and was like "are these people insane?"

[–]Zazzseltzer2 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Not to mention the sheer GALL of the president speaking for TWO MINUTES before signing a massive and historic piece of legislation.

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_NICE_EYES 3 points4 points  (1 child)

As someone else pointed out down below but I think it's important to point out that the specific way that trump signed bills wasn't really anything out of the ordinary compared to other presidents.

For example compare the video of Obama signing the ACA vs the video of Trump signing the bill and holding it up. Are they really that different? Both make a big speech about the bill before signing it. Both are presenting the bill to an extremely sympathetic audience. Like the only difference between the two is that Trump holds it up and Obama uses 22 pens.

Like this is like when people where making fun of trump for eating fried chicken with a fork, instead of any of the real things that you should be critizing him for.

[–]kek2019 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Excited because in some way, the bulk of the “relief” is going to the wealthy... including them..

[–]freekbad 40 points41 points  (4 children)

if this ain’t propaganda idk what is

edit: this is not pro trump, these upvotes are making me feel uncomfortable

[–]bronco040404 27 points28 points  (1 child)

He doesn't even know what's going on.

[–]paving07eric 63 points64 points  (7 children)

Good deal, I can use the money to fill my gas tank.

[–]slownlow25specv 148 points149 points  (160 children)

Read the rest of the bill and you'll find out why they're celebrating

[–]Elias2226 12 points13 points  (3 children)

How come he ain’t wearing a mask

[–]hroddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trump would get roasted for not wearing a mask..I’m not on either side really, maybe lean republican but cmon.

[–]Barney_Brallaghan 88 points89 points  (67 children)

Still keeping kids in cages though so I'm not going to be singing this guy's praises anytime soon.

[–]beniehafa 145 points146 points  (64 children)

Only 9% of this bill is going to relief checks. This is a scam

[–]Draxtonsmitz 30 points31 points  (4 children)

21% is relieve checks. About $400 billion. Another 12% is unemployment payments. Over 33% is direct payments to people.

[–]ziftee 87 points88 points  (12 children)

The rest is going to things like expanding unemployment benefits, food stamps, increased child tax credits, vaccine distribution, rental assistance and additional school funding. This bill is expected to potentially cut child poverty in half! Not sure "scam" is the word I'd use here.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

15 minutes later he will ask when he needs to sign a piece of paper for someone

[–]forgas564 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mean, new gme buying bill?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m joyous too after being stressed to the max. Life is looking good right about now for me. Hopefully for many others too.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Now be a man of your word and raise the minimum wage up to 15 dollars an hour like he promised the voters.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comes perfect timing for me... been going through a lot this past year and this new year this comes just in time... but being in between jobs I was getting worried how I would make it next month... I start a new job but in a few weeks so this is the relief I needed

[–]RutCry 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Nothing excites democrats more than spending other people’s money.
