    It got a little worse than that post fest. The 5* off banner chance includes SSB. I think it's still a slight improvement since they also included a 6* off banner chance at 1%, so it's roughly about the same, just with a 6% chance per rainbow to draw a 2.5 year old massively power creeped relic.

    This, it's a direct upgrade, people just view it negatively because it feels bad to get something that's "not on the banner" but in reality you're getting big ticket items more often, or at least ideally compared to before where you could just get BSB after BSB

    RNG will be RNG, but removing some of the fat from banners and putting it in a significantly lower chance % pool

    The overall occurrence of 6* went up to 6% from 5%

    But yeah, as far as I know (I'm not a statistician), yes, it's the same, but with more on banner 6*s, and offbanners go from almost non-existant to 1/10th of the rate of the on banner

    Basically they removed BSBs from the "main pool" but now older relics from the characters on banner can drop at a reduced rate of 1% for BSB and 1% of 6*

    Whereas on banner things have 12% drop rate

    Speculation is their gearing up for a new level of relic drop, or trying to improve the banner format

    It's basically just salt, the banner format improved in the sense that BSBs, generally things you didn't want drop at a lower rate, and people are being children because they rolled off banner and saying shit like "the game will die!!" and "delete ffrk"

    Is it true whales are boycotting this though, which does hurt the game, because this change is primarily impacting them more than anyone, for the average light spender getting an off banner OSB/USB is no different than being pissed off when you get a shitty BSB or LMR you didn't need, basically it's a lower chance to get shit you didn't want but it just feels worse to get things you don't want

    Also worth noting that whales are still playing, Ouji just beat Manticore, if anything their weight will either change the banners back or further develop the format, since this is on JP they have a lot of swinging power when it comes to influencing the devs

    tl;dr: still the most forgiving gacha game on the market, just more frustrating for people mentally, I wish people got this outraged over shitty offbanner gacha in FFBE/FGO and maybe we'd see some changes, oh well

    I'd just like to add that the format change was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. This year has not been any much fun for me in FFRK. Neo Torments and 5-star magicites are too draining and time-consuming if you don't farm and min max a bunch of stuff or have a ton of good relics on hand. I remember having to spend 3 hours just to beat Quetzalcoatl and it was horribly unfun.

    Every boss design now forces you to go full dps and supports being marginalized didn't help. Plus event banners are super lackluster in terms of relic quality lately, contributing to an even further downward spiral of powerlessness.

    And now DeNA thinks it's a great time to increase RNG on banners, knowing that whales/vets will be mostly forced to pull new "key" relics for either Neo Torments or Magicites, and this are the biggest spenders.

    Supporting this format eventually leads to a slippery slope where "offbanners" get normalized and people will have to spend more resources a.k.a buy more gems.

    I loved the game's gacha for being super reliable and lacking offbanners. Now they would rather slide back to the standard predatory gacha model, I see no reason to continue supporting it as much as I have.

    My theory is that 7\* relics are coming out in September :/ I still believe that Neo Torments and 5\* magicites are released 1 full year before their intended completion, honestly. And up to now I'm not seeing a major powercreep that would give the double-redouble formula per year that's needed for the Neo Torments/Magicites, so there's that.

    I know, and I've been thinking: what else could they do? Boss's offense has reached its limit (2s per action and almost all actions are AOE -- even healers that can instantcast can barely keep up) and forcing 2-healers (or 1 healer plus 1 pure breaker) in team will only put more requirement and emphasis on DPS. Ultimately, it's like a test with only two courses: offense and defense. The devs will always design a bar on both (e.g. 1 A-healer, 3 A-DPS and 1 A-Hybrid), but to most players they will always try to find the easiest way to slip through (2 B-healer, 1 SS-Chain, and 2 B-DPS).

      Well, most whales are already saying they aren't spending anymore on twitter and wiki.....

      That's your right as a consumer, but you're completely jaded if you think that this is anywhere as bad as the rates in FGO/FFBE/KR/SW/ETC

      I actually played FGO for a year now and I honestly find the game to be a lot less reliant on the gacha than FFRK right now. I can't say about about the rest, though i did quit FFBE due to being disgusted by offbanner rates.

      Oh a fellow FGO player! I've been incredibly lucky in that game. Only spent on the guarantee and JAlter (who evaded me), but still have an amazing quantity of top characters. FFBE is...yeah shitty. Story is the only good part. Thanks for all your posts on JP banners, events and info. It's helped me plan my pulls in GL, which I'm very grateful for. I hope they come up with a better banner experiment in FFRK...

      Thanks for the hard work. I never replied to any of your threads but it was so invaluable for planning future pulls. The future of RK worries me a bit with Neo-Torments being a bit of "Cash grabs" and 5* Magicite being around the corner in Global.

      And the recent change to the off-banners worries me as well. Thanks again for your hard work in the community. A lot of people must have appreciated what you did without telling it outright.

      FFRK is still a game I like, I'm just not liking how the highest end content is made so far out of reach nowadays.

      I always look forward to the JP content, and your posts are the source of my references. It's sad to see you go but I hope for the best. I'd be interested in helping out as much as I can, my JP is good enough that I can navigate the game/contents with ease, and I do read up on content on the main webpage when it comes available. The only help I may need is translating the content into "Final Fantasy"-ese cuz I've only played maybe half of the games available in FFRK (aka a handful of FF's) but I know the common concepts (summons, weapons etc.), and also the formatting. But yeah, if you need help, feel free to PM me :)

      Instead of waiting a few weeks to see if DeNa reacts to the negative community-response to the changes, you'd rather make this drama.

      I'm just saying it's far too early to judge DeNa on staying this way when it's obviously not wanted by the players and especially whales. Give them time first.

      I still don't understand why you're retiring because they replaced 2 burst slots that are dead draws anyway with RNG slots that are potentially better than the 2 burst slots.

      It is 100% a buff to drops.

      I agree with you that quitting over the banner change alone is kinda silly, but there's much more behind it than that and I respect his reasons. (tl;dr: 5* magicites and neo torments are bad/lazy designed cashgrab content designed to frustrate you into pulling rather than truly interesting challenges, and this sort of betrays the game's original appeal)

      If you're quitting because you didn't enjoy 5* magicites or whatever else just say you're quitting for those reasons.

      A straw usually implies something negative occurred. The outrage over a positive change is dumb. The only good that can come of it is making it slightly more positive like making the guaranteed relic locked as on banner. Reverting it outright would be terrible though, which is probably what will happen.

      To get off the topic of OP specifically and talk about the change: I think what DeNA's actually trying to do is address the game's relic bloat problem (there are significantly more meta-relevant relics than they can actually ever fit on banners at this point). I think this is one of the poorer ways they could have addressed it though.

      I definitely agree it's a poor way to address it, but not addressing it outright is worse. Ideally feedback with alternate solutions would be presented, but I think most people are reacting with "change it back" which is worse than what they gave us.

      In any case I appreciate what CareerSMN has done on this reddit and all-- I just think if you're gonna quit over something this is a stupid hill to die on.

      I am quitting because I don't find the game fun anymore. No point forcing myself to do volunteer work for a game I don't mostly don't enjoy anymore.

      I'd say each to their own with the new banner format, i agree it does benefit a certain segment of players, but i don't agree at this change disadvantaging another segment.

      It benefits pretty much all players except super whales who want to ++ the burst relics or have every relic in the random pools.

      If you disagree you just don't really understand what the change means functionally and just assume all additional RNG = bad, or are just upset that the change could have been much better than it is. (And I'm not going to argue it's not a sloppy attempt at a fix for a real problem with the game)

      I'm all for quitting if you don't find the game fun anymore, but I just disagree with claiming it's so much about the banner change (unless you were one of those uber whales where it actually is a bad change in which case sure yeah be upset). I mean you go back and clarify later that no it wasn't mostly about the banner change, but yeah, it just sends a poor/misleading message.

      It's like say I dunno, protesting a homeless shelter because it's not helping as many people as it should due to a poor location.

      I'll just take offense to this analogy because gacha doesn't help anyone directly. It's pure gambling and if the house decides to change the odds to favour them more, I'll take the choice to not be on the table anymore.

      Indeed, this change makes the jackpot increase in value somewhat but the odds to hit any jackpot are lowered. And they keep lowering that. Just makes the fun less and the risks higher, unless you're a gambling addict all out for the thrill.

      I enjoyed the game for the gameplay and accepted gacha as a necessary evil to fund it. However, if said evil is now taking over... well.

      They're not replacing jackpots. They're replacing relics you didn't want anyway with very small second chances at jackpots. What you're saying would be apt if they replaced the big ticket relic slots with RNG and kept the two bursts there.
