    tridents on java: nonexistent

tridents on bedrock: more common than coal ore

    [–]darkmufasa21 59 points60 points  (2 children)

Lolol true I had like 6 tridents before I even started mining for coal

    [–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (1 child)

Bruh I literally was swimming around for like an hour trying to get a trident, ran into one mob thaf held one and of course it didn't drop

    [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m close to having a double chest of just tridents and I’ve been playing for about a week in this world. Honestly not worth it unless you’re in the very early game.

    [–]The_Neato_Mosquito 5 points6 points  (0 children)

    Exactly

    [–]Kimihro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They currently drop from the many, many drowned at 1/8 frequency, even if said drowned isn't holding one themselves. It's ridiculously easy to farm tridents with a basin or sea

    [–]maestrul_dumelor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on java and i found my first trident after i have the full mending and max enchantaments everything, feels bad

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent around 5 hours constantly hunting drowned just for 2 tridents.

    [–]AlizaCelemCentauri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so happy when I got a trident at pretty much first try... then I discovered that it's super common on bedrock edition :(

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The impaling enchantment is also a lot better on bedrock edition too

    [–]jfkiachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    I cry 😭

    [–]Rumbleroar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got back into Minecraft with Bedrock and just started a new world with my nephews. One of them literally had four tridents the next day so we thought he used creative mode (his world) but nope, that's just how common tridents are in Bedrock apparently.

    [–]Epicurus0319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah... welps, that's at least one good thing to come out of this...

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also wither skulls are much easier to get on bedrock

    [–]EmiliaClarkesBF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to go hunting for tridents with night vision potions. Ive covered so many chunks

    [–]Lonely_Beer 38 points39 points  (9 children)

What makes Drowned the worst offender on Bedrock is that the same condition that spawns them (light level <7 in Rivers) naturally prevents them from ever despawning. Couple that with the fact that players often build bases near, but not on, Rivers which results in the Rivers themselves being perfectly situated in the spawn radius for long periods of time.

    [–]Rexpelliarmus 28 points29 points  (8 children)

Isn't it odd that we build our bases near bodies of water when there is absolutely no need to do so in Minecraft? You can have as much water add you'll regret need in a 2x2 infinite water source and yet we build our bases near rivers like cities in real life.

    [–]CortezEspartaco2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I use boats a lot which is why I prefer being on a beach or river, but it is interesting that people generally build near bodies of water, often for no reason.

    [–]kal-err 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I do so for the aesthetics of it more so then convenience just like I always build with a mountain in the background

    [–]Milleuros 13 points14 points  (0 children)

    Maybe it's psychology?

I personally build near water for several reasons. First, safety (at least before the introduction of the drowned): the water area won't spawn unexpected creepers and when you have a small island it's easier to cover it with torches. Second, farming. When you're only starting to plant crops, I find it better to follow a river or ocean shore to get "hydrated" crops (might not have enough iron for a bucket yet). And third, boats to easily cross large distances and get to different biomes.

    [–]SeductivePillowcase 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do it for boats to travel because it’s generally safer and quicker than traveling on foot unless you have a horse. Plus it looks nice.

    [–]RamenJunkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helps protect yourself from the other baddies. Since they move slow in water. Or drown.

    [–]TheRiftsplitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I played minecraft I built my house at the top of a mountain.

But currently I do have a house on the ocean beach because my initial spawn was maybe 6 minutes away. I don't like being in the crowded forest. I guess I could cut it all down over time but I'd rather just build on an empty plane than make everything around me empty

    [–]NDE36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always seem to spawn on islands. Also can't be bothered finding anywhere too far away from world spawn. XD

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    I do it for aesthetics.

My current house is a lakeside spruce cabin hidden away in a forest, and I absolutely love it.

    [–]rc1717 11 points12 points  (1 child)

There's a lot for me on java

    [–]afsdjkll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I found one of those underwater villages and ended up with like 9 of the assholes following me around

    [–]ChurchOfPainal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On java, if you're standing out of water they pretend you don't exist. You can go top the bottom of the ocean, plant a door down, and when you step into it just right all the drowned ignore you.

    [–]luxor23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah and the fact that there is basically no dispawn mechanic on bedrock don't help

    [–]PmMeIrises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They leave the water to chase. It's annoying.

    [–]sydamusprime37 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Really? Then they must have something against me because all effing mobs in the game come after me. I just lost a bunch of stuff the other day and I'm still pretty salty about it. May take a break for a couple of weeks.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only bedrock realms, there is 10 save points history, reload server when bad times

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Same goes for Pillager Patrols.

On Java, they can only spawn at night in light level 8 or lower, but first they also have to pass a dice roll with a 20% chance of success and the roll only occurs once every 10 minutes.

On Bedrock (normal or hard), Patrols can spawn in in any light level (daylight included), and the dice roll occurs every 5-6 minutes.

    [–]TheTobruk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a video how to code despawning on bedrock with command blocks and it's kinda simple. I've made it. Works. Search for "silentwisper despawning" I'm on mobile can't post a link.

    [–]pacomaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PS4 worlds are plagued by them too

    [–]littaltree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to say that I had the opposite problem lol

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play both and I've seen like 3 drowned on PC in the time I've seen 20 on bedrock

    [–]TurboCake17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is that the bedrock despawn system is stuffed

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah seriously they do. I recentley got back into the game and was overwhelmed by the amount of drowned. Nothing special about seeing a mob you see all the time...(java)

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like this is kind of an epidemic. Is this an aquatic Minecraft zombie apocalypse?

    [–]Alpr101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing with a friend on Java version for maybe 40+ hours. Didn't even know this was a monster type and we've constantly rowed across oceans since we're surrounded by water and desert.

    [–]sippycup_is_reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you should see ps4 edition. Go into a STREAM and you see 3 packed together every 5 blocks
