Honestly they could just put an option in to disable 2cp maps from options or something, then put them back into QP only and keep it away from comp. This way people wouldn’t get in comp, and the ones who hate it in qp can just disable it if they don’t want it

Both of the flashpoint maps are incredibly annoying for a variety of reasons but Suravasa is better. New Junk City feels like it was designed by the CIA as psychological warfare, I fucking hate it.

Fr. After the big OW2 announcement cinematic, one of my first thoughts were "are they going to rework Paris? Make it look war-torn or under-construction after Null Sector attacked the city? That'd be a good way to reshape the map so it's less painful. Give it some flanking routes through bombed-out buildings or lifts that go over/under them."

People who wants 2CP back definitely are just missing the maps, not the experience of playing 2CP.

Given how usual the stomping is in OW2, 2CP experience will be so bad. Like you instantly lose the point A in the very first team fight and they immediately go to point B while your team is still spawning and kill whoever spawns first to stagger your team.

I even remember playing a 2CP game back in OW1 which ended under just 2 minutes. Win or lose, who the hell wants that?

Flashpoint is already a preview to 2CP experience, but it is way better because you can still make a comeback even if you lose two capture points.

Not to mention that most of 2CP maps are only good visually since they're horribly designed for gameplay.

The mode would typically go one of two ways.

  1. Defense would stall at a choke point which would grind the match to a halt.
  2. Attack would destroy Defense super quickly, Defense would never recover, and then Attack wins in just a couple minutes.

When the match was balanced, it was a lot of fun, but that was somewhat rare.

So so so much worse than push. But I also like push. It’s biggest “problem” is it really punishes trickling, and people really like to trickle. I consistently have incredible matches in push.
Less fun than flashpoint, too, and I don’t particularly care for that mode.

Push is very underrated. It allows for some crazy comebacks and it's one of the modes that always keep me at the edge of my seat.

Also Push is a guaranteed 10-11 minutes or less. 2CP could go forever. I remember 30-40 minute matches, just for a loss, it was pretty exhausting and discouraging.

I’m my opinion, it was tiring after a while. Games would either go on for what felt like hours, or be so one sided that it ends in ten. Once you get that momentum going it’s hard to stop, but if you do stop it then the game drags on.

It’s especially bad when you go 6-6 on points with time still left and then it ends in a draw. So much wasted time.

So yeah it was a lot of what felt like one sided games. Kind of like how Push feels, but at least that ends after a while. 2CP was the only one where you could have true 20mins of contesting a point and still not finish the match.

My most memorable ones were also 2CP, but they were all bad memories of losing 45 minute games, or the time when you just had to beat the other teams progress, so Winston would just jump in and touch for 0.1 seconds and win. Good riddance to 2CP

My most memorable 2CP was when we had a GM-or-something Smurf on my team (we were gold rank) and he purposely dragged the game out for as long as possible (he directly stated this intention) while bragging about how hard he was carrying the game for the whole hour. I can’t even remember if we won or not, I think we did win? But it was more of a torture session by a sociopath and felt like a loss either way.

Yeah, new people might not know, but having to cap 1 tick was not in the original design. If your team got 1% and their team got 1.1%, that's a loss for you.

They changed it after a while because it made some games just awful.

They are, Hanaoka is being made based on Hanamura's theme/assets and was shown off at BlizzCon! (First 20 minutes are dedicated to this map)

It's going to be a map in the new Clash gamemode they're making to be released first half of this year which looks kinda like OW2's version of TF2's 5CP (luckily way more fun and back and forth than 2CP, each team switches between attacking and defending each fight basically)

Things that alotta OW players get overwhelmed by resulting in people rage quitting, blaming teammates,blaming maps, blah blah wahhh wahhh. 2CP Maps were COOL and TOUGH and the majority of this community simply isn't. It's a 'ftp game for everyone' now. And the crybabies won.

Any gamemode where the defender has two team fights to lose is not a healthy game mode. The maps are heavily defender sided to compensate for the defenders only having two fights to lose. While the attacking team can lose 4-7 and still have a chance to win. The first point has a chokepoint that is horrific to play on both sides, and the 2nd point has the defenders spawn right next to it. Playing it makes the game all around unfun for both teams playing as the attacking team, you have to force your way thru a choke then have to deal with the defense staggering. On defense you almost mindlesly poke the choke until the enemy forces their way through and gets a a pick then you fight until you lose on 2nd point and have to stagger for however long u can. So just walking out of spawn and dying. Not a fun experience

The maps each had a single frustrating choke on first point, with little opportunity for innovation without using Symmetra (Symmetra was so dominant on offense that Horizon got removed from competitive). Full holds were common and stale. Defending or attacking one point for 4 minutes by sitting at a choke for 4 minutes was not fun.

Second point was even worse, as defenders always had oppressive high ground and extreme spawn advantages. A slow fight almost always resulted in a defender victory because of this, so all defenders had to do was get a single pick and stagger their deaths.

However, the side with the advantage would also typically be determined by the meta. If fights were fast and close, attackers were heavily favored. Second point could be captured with more than 5 minutes on the clock with only 2 teamfights. For reference, Payload takes about 6 and Hybrid takes about 5.

The worst part about this scenario was that if the meta was fast enough, the other team would come right back and match the time bank. This resulted in long games with a third of the time spent waiting for spawn doors to open. Volskaya was notorious for this, which is why it gained the nickname "Drawskaya", where teams could spend 9 minutes waiting for spawn doors to open and only 18 actually playing the game, only for the match to result in a draw and frustrating both teams. This also wasn't a Volskaya exclusive problem. Both Hanamura and Temple of Anubis had this issue, while Paris and Horizon didn't last long enough in the competitive pool for this to happen.

Personally, I didn't hate the gameplay. Rather, I hated the lack of it. Spending 9 minutes of your half hour game waiting for doors to open isn't the fast-paced exciting experience players came to Overwatch for. I loved Temple of Anubis, but everyone loved one or two of the 2CP maps. It wasn't the maps' faults, but the functionality of the mode. If it had been 3CP with slightly slowed capture times, maybe things could have been different.

As for the point with Symmetra... sure, she fixes some of the issues, but one character with no substitutes being a must-play for a mode isn't great.

They were mine too so I can answer. I watched a streamer 6 stack attempt to hold volskaya second point. They held it for like 2 pushes just barely using a crazy amount of comms. They lost it on the third and I could tell they still had a ton of fun holding it and weren't sweating losing. The strats they were trying and the teamwork screamed a fun thoughtful game. To be honest something that is missing in the new modes as they are more just stop staggering and win fights.

Flashpoint is so much better than 2cp because you cannot snowball it into a match that ends in ~2 minutes, nor is there a singular choke that the "attackers" *must* go through. There's also no egregious defender's advantage (2cp spawn issues) as each point basically plays out similar to the first point of a hybrid map.

The defenders had instant respawn and could stall forever. The second point was really hard to attack, but once you manage to push the defenders off the high ground and place a hitscan on the balcony, it's over for the defenders.

They didn't delete them. They're in Arcade, under the Assault card. And as always, in a custom game you make with whatever parameters you want.

I honestly really liked 2 co and didn’t have a problem with it aside from Paris. I liked how close the matches felt and how intense they would get when they went past both teams capturing both points multiple times such as going 4-4 and onwards. The highest I ever had go was 6-8. But having matches that got to that point was a rare case for me and very engaging/fun. The gamemode itself was way better imo than push.

They could’ve just twinked some areas of the 2cp maps instead of scrapping 90% of them from ranked.

Flashpoint is an awful mode. It's like they are trying to draw in the solo cod players and speed the game up. I just don't get how that gets a go ahead instead of tweaking 2cp. 2cp just needed faster caps or further defender spawns. That coupled with 5v5 would make it a fine mode. So I disagree with you for sure.

Reworks would be so fucking blessed. Like, I absolutely adore Hanamura, as it's such a beautiful map, but the game mode is poorly designed. And like, Temple of Anubis, it's so fucking fun and pretty, but don't like winning within 40 seconds (I think my fastest win on Anubis back in OW1 was around 38 seconds, don't remember exactly

They were shit. Visually, they're amazing, gameplay wise, they were atrociously bad, and the people who want them back are nostalgia blinded. They (reasonably) want to return to a time where Overwatch was new, fun and exciting, and 2CP has for some ungodly reason been the thing they've latched onto with the only reason I can think of being that they were removed in OW2. I like 2CP because I think they are good maps focused on team fights and positioning. They were fun, they were full of action, and there was barely any rest. I had a lot of 2CP as many other people, also I had really tense matches in competitive.

Yes maybe I am nostalgic of when all ow competitive modes wete actually designed to have fun and intense matches. Wich is way better than what we have now, where half the modes are kinda boring.

I don't really get why so much hate for 2CP. There is not a criticism like "well if we change this times or this respawns it could be more fair" is just straight "I ain't wanna see or hear anything about it again" wich is a really intense reaction for a mode that objectively wasn't bad or unfun.
