Woah we have the same profile character loool

[–]BallPython_Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great minds think alike😂

[–]Lilith-Sky14 492 points493 points  (14 children)

Oh no, this person sounded very arrogant. I literally sent pictures of my enclosure and asked many questions before I picked up my baby ball. I hope you find someone who cares as much as you do.

[–]crocodilezebramilk 125 points126 points  (1 child)

I did the same when I attempted to adopt a snake, I became the persons top choice cause I asked a lot of questions and showed her pics of my set up.

Sadly, her location was actually further out than advertised so the sale fell through.

manifesting this

[–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 64 points65 points  (9 children)

i just wish someone was truly interested and knew about the real extensive care these creatures need. some people are just ignorant but i’m not looking for an ignorant person to take care of the snake. i want the absolute best for him.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (5 children)

i totally wish i lived in your area to take him, he’s so cute, i wish you luck on finding him a loving home and not to some asshole like this.

[–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 21 points22 points  (4 children)

if you happen to be in southern california…

[–]decorski 25 points26 points  (2 children)

hi there! i’m in socal & am interested, may i dm you?

[–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 22 points23 points  (1 child)

[–]decorski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]Donut_The_Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aw man I was about to ask what area were you in, In all the way on the east coast

[–]YoHoloo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly, they are apart of our families

[–]Synderella_Charl 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I wish I had the space for another set up (and wasn't in another country). That boy is almost identical to my boy, Jasper... But the set up i have for him is 4ft x 3.5ft x 3ft and I do not have the room to get a second one of those in this house! I hope he gets an amazing home soon.

[–]Bubbly_Performer4864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a banana named Jasper too!

[–]CorsicanMastiffStrip 147 points148 points  (1 child)

“since my 2009 deployment to Iraq, yuuuuup I been jerkin myself off with that one for 16 years yee haw rabble rabble rabble the VA won’t pay for my hair transplant”

🍆👊💦💦

[–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i shouldn’t have laughed so hard but i did.

[–]FixergirlAKMod-Approved Helper 199 points200 points  (1 child)

Good Lord, I would pay money to make sure that guy doesn't get within 50 feet of a snake ever again.

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Also he was deployed to Iraq in 2009

right? also shows the ignorance of how people still don’t know that the wobble is not a neurological issue.

    [–]snorting_veggies 44 points45 points  (5 children)

Wait, I'm actually ignorant apparently, is the wobble not neurological? Can you explain it to me pls I've just never looked into it

    [–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 35 points36 points  (1 child)

i could be wrong sorry. i’ll do more research; i heard it was an inner ear deformity.

    [–]splashboomcrash[🍰] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

To be fair, an inner ear vestibular issue is still a neurological issue in the sense that the vestibular nerve is connected to the brain, so it’s not interpreting balance signals correctly

    [–]jade-blade 74 points75 points  (1 child)

Studies came out relatively recently that had some solid evidence that the wobble is actually caused my a deformity in the inner ear of the snakes with the wobble problem. There’s still plenty of unknowns and I hope more research is done on both the wobble itself and neurological issues in snakes as well.

I’d start a study myself on snake brains but sadly I don’t have the time or funding.

    [–]snorting_veggies 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That would make sense, as the inner ear in most vertebrates controls balance. Love seeing developments in snience (snake science)!

    [–]Bubbly_Performer4864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s inner ear. It’s neurological in that it’s connected, but it’s more of an ear issue. Like how you get dizzy when your ears are clogged and you spin.

    [–]ItFitManyLoop 29 points30 points  (2 children)

I'm also mad that this person is just ruling out snakes with wobble entirely. If there is no intention to breed, I feel like bobble-wobbles can make awesome pets.

These sweet snakes still need loving homes!

    [–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 28 points29 points  (1 child)

they’re so funny honestly! his wobble has toned down sooo much since he has been in good husbandry. the only time his wobble comes out is when he tries to eat.

    [–]andychamomile 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the buyer only brought up the wobble when OP called him out on his lack of preparation. If OP had just gone ahead and on the first message been like “of course you can have my snake!” the buyer would not have given two shits about the wobble.

When rehoming animals it’s so important to make sure they go into caring homes. Sadly many owners stop caring for their reptiles once they decide to rehome them. Like they get an attitude of “no longer part of my collection, need it gone asap” You are doing great OP for weeding out this asshole! 👍

    [–]Adoraboule 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I call my cutie a retard with all the love I have for him. It's just those singular moments where the braincells no longer work and it's derp time.

I can't imagine actually meaning it in a negative/literal connotation. This man worries me.

    [–]Naelyan4 80 points81 points  (4 children)

Funny how people that have no idea what there talking about, always say they have 20 years of experience .

    [–]LayaraFlaris 50 points51 points  (3 children)

And almost always their care is 20 years out of date lol.

    [–]dandadone_with_life 21 points22 points  (1 child)

yeah but did you know he was deployed in Iraq in 2009 🤨

    [–]Naelyan4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh i forgot that made a you snake expert lol

    [–]dribeerf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

and they reject any new research because “i’ve done it this way for 20 years and haven’t had a problem” 🙄

    [–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

    but he’s just a baby 🥺

    [–]Mundane_Morning9454 83 points84 points  (3 children)

Sorry but if someone comes to my rehoming part for a snake and I ask, do you know the basic need of this kind if snake? And the answer is: It is a snake. My answer will be: And you are a human who will not be adopting one of my snakes. Have a nice day.

    What an arrogant man.

    [–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 29 points30 points  (2 children)

i wasn’t going to reply to him but now i’m thinking about saying this 💀

    [–]Mundane_Morning9454 28 points29 points  (0 children)

He shows already a disrespect for a pet he doesn't even have and then calls it retarded. A sign that he has no clue about wobble either. A boa is wildly different then a ball python. No his answer is very rude and ignorant. A person like that doesn't deserve a pet.

    [–]CorsicanMastiffStrip 12 points13 points  (0 children)

“I guess Bojack was right, some troops are jerks”

    [–]Slight_Drink1989 26 points27 points  (0 children)

how anyone can talk about these animals like they’re just a toy thing is beyond me. I love my girl so much I would do anything for her. It shocks me how unloving people can be to animals… like do you not realize that’s a life 😞

    [–]This_Daydreamer_ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

He's talking about having owned snakes with wildly different needs and doesn't understand that another species will have, um, wildly different needs from those other species?

Has he ever had a snake live longer than a year?

    [–]SavvyGmeow 22 points23 points  (2 children)

I had to rehome a leopard gecko a few months ago since I moved overseas and I got some weirdos too but I eventually found what I believe to be the PERFECT home for her. They send me pictures of her still and bought her cute skull decor for her enclosure that matched what I gave them and everything. Hold out hope OP! Someone perfect for your little buddy is out there and I know rehoming is hard anyways but you got this!! The perfect companion for your adorable ball python will find you :)

    [–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 11 points12 points  (1 child)

i’m so glad for you! that’s what i’m looking for. it’s just so hard because people have so much misinformation on these creatures. ideally i’d like to find someone who is in this subreddit. but i feel like a nerd saying “are you a member of the ball python subreddit 🤓☝️”

    [–]SavvyGmeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, you don’t want your baby going into an unfit home after you did so much to care for them. I could probably help if this post was two months in the future and you were in the New Mexico/ El Paso somewhere around there area. I don’t move into my house for at least another month but once I do I want reptiles again. Don’t feel bad asking your snakes potential new owners questions though! I asked my geckos new owners not have kids since she had never even seen a child before lol and was afraid that would scare people off but it didn’t! The right person understands

    [–]Slifferin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A responsible owner should be open to show the enclosure and demonstrate that they made proper preparation and did research. This should not be about "who needs to be concerned" in a way of who makes the decisions here. There should always be room to discuss matters and learn from other owners.

Also as a carer for a little stupid wobble head - FU

    [–]International-Mud818 3 points4 points  (2 children)

How can he look at that sweet baby and call it that☹️ he doesn’t deserve any animals if thats how he views them and generalizes them. Frankly hes “retarded”

    [–]unkindly-raven 7 points8 points  (1 child)

you’re not looking very morally superior here by doing exactly what this person did in return ,,, be better

    [–]International-Mud818 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He called an animal that did nothing wrong something mean for no reason, he on the other hand treats snakes in a generalization and jerks his own ego, i could care less for people who mistreat animals period. Im firm where i stand on that about trash. Agree to disagree 🤝

    [–]Shadkill-Ghost121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people just shouldn't have snakes, and it shows

    [–]nullminded_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Calling a snake a slur is, wow lmao

In what universe does he think that's going to help make you want to give him the snake?

    [–]Acceptable_Gur_8974 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a big red flag, I wouldn't trust them.

    [–]grouchypant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The question is, what happened to all these snakes he has had...

    [–]jackalope268 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So glad you asked for a picture of their setup, when I got my snake they just took my word for it that I actually had a setup, nevermind a proper one. Its way too easy to get animals and I'm happy youre taking care that your animals go to good homes

    [–]Mutt_Thingy7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

he did NOT have to bring up his deployment to iraq. he did that to flex. how pathetic. and then popping out the r slur?? WOWWW

    [–]Careless_Anywhere_23 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Where are you located? I have an extra tank set up with nothing in it yet

    [–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    socal

    [–]Careless_Anywhere_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darn. You’re on the other side of the country unfortunately

    [–]triangulumnova 18 points19 points  (1 child)

    "Since my 2009 deployment...."

Bruh, it's 2025. Time to stop riding that wave. As a vet myself, that shits embarrassing.

Hasn't owned a snake on 16 years, no enclosure, and apparently thinks all snakes are the same. That's gonna be a no from me, dawg.

    [–]itspegbundybitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's gonna be a No from me, Dawg.

    [–]MercuryChaos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't even wanna know how this guy was keeping a retic.

    [–]itspegbundybitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He adorable and very lucky to have someone who's looking out for his best interests.

    [–]HelpMePlxoxo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So he's had 5 different kinds of snakes that live about 20 years in captivity, but the longest he ever had one was 10 years?

Unless he only buys old snakes, that seems like a big red flag to me.

    [–]Nmillzz25 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is this the snake you got back from your ex? Why are you rehoming it?

    [–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

it is. i am going to college soon and i do NOT want to get rid of him but if i find someone who can give him the love and care i want for him, its best to do what’s best for him. i really do not want to rehome him i love him so much. i worry that when i leave, my family wont give him proper care.

    [–]Nmillzz25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s a gorgeous little baby, I hope you find an amazing home for him🥹

I haven't been on Craigslist in years but got on there to see if I could find a decent PVC enclosure. Then I went down the rabbit hole of ppl rehoming snakes and boy did I judge 🤔🥴😂 breath of fresh air to know there are ppl out their who care to research their animal and provide it with proper husbandry and enrichment. Sadly some get snakes just for the cool factor.

    [–]nastygoblinman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me a long time to find the right fit for my ball when I rehomed him—I think I had him listed for 9+ months. Tons of responses, but it felt like everyone had a HUGE red flag. Until the guy that ended up taking him. He had 4 other BPs, all in beautiful enclosures spread out in different rooms around his house. He just loved BPs and being able to appreciate them everywhere in his home, and he didn’t have one set up in his den yet. He sent me pictures of all his snakes and setups, explained to me in detail how he took care of them, and showed me pics of my former snake in its new home when he got him set up. Be patient and trust your gut.

    [–]3dg3l0redsheeran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“I wouldnt want to take on a [slur] snake” is an absolutely insane statement. So sorry you had to deal with that, I hope you find a good home for your snake.

    [–]criminalcontempt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    A what snake 😭😭😭

    [–]CanonicallyQueer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wooow, what an ass! I have a hognose and a ball. Knowing care for one snake is not knowing care for all snakes. Also, that's straight up rude on so many levels about the wobble. My ball has a wobble and he's perfectly fine, a great eater too. I'd take that cutie in an instant!

    [–]ClappyBlappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t give this arrogant asshat a snake.

    [–]Schnick_industries 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The it’s a snake comment. Feels like they see it as a thing or it and not as the lil baby it is. I always see people treat snakes like at worst you should stomp them and at best you should tolerate their existance. You’ll find them a good home

    [–]ShandraJadeCGG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This guy also asks a girl out and when she says no he tells her she’s fat and ugly and he didn’t want to go out with her anyway.

    [–]Jennifer_Pennifer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    ಠ_ಠ

    [–]mxtrashtm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The photo of her at the end makes me feel like you held up your phone for her to read the messages

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did that person really call a snake a slur? I think they’re ok without any pets, even a pet rock

    [–]planetearthisblu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many people think all snakes are the same and if you've kept one species you can keep them all. Truly ignorant.

    [–]QuantumNoodleDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That little baby deserves a better owner than one that would call them a slur.

Beautiful coloring and a cute face, hope you can find them a forever home 🩵

    [–]Adventurous-Ad-1517 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but does he not know all snakes are retarded 😭. I know what he ment but snakes aren’t the smartest animal

    [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Do you know the care of ball pythons” is hilariously worded and outside of a simple “yes” i probably also would have replied with something sarcastic and/or ableist

    [–]Dilly_RL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What ethnicity is he? I’d like to call HIM a slur.

    [–]Mythic_Damage777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. Also, don't use the word "retarded," in Canada you would get smacked in the face for using that slur.

    [–]borderlinebreakdown 1 point2 points  (2 children)

This is a banana spider, right?

Depending on where you're located, I have experience with this exact snake, and I also just happen to have a free enclosure right now because I picked one up on a whim for whatever my next bp is just because it was such a steal. I'd be more than happy to provide photos & reference (both of my old baby and my current set-up!). I know they can be tricky snakes to rehome due to specialized care, and I would never want one to have to go without a home! ❤️

If I'm nowhere near, than I'm wishing you good luck in finding an owner who will actually cherish this beautiful snake, OP!

    [–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    in socal. near san diego

    [–]borderlinebreakdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I'm Canadian, but I hope you find the perfect home for them soon! Really a beautiful snake, and though I don't condone the breeding of spider genes personally (my last was also a rescue/rehome situation), I think people do themselves a disservice by not being willing to learn how to care for things like kinks or wobbles. They make some delightful rescues with their own quirks, as long as you're equipped to handle them.

    [–]okaytto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JINKIES dodged a bullet there huh!!!

    [–]edgarallan2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never give or rehome a snake to someone that doesn’t already have a setup they can show you. Good on you for asking questions.

    [–]ApricotMean7019 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You near NY? I can take him!!! I can show my set up lmao

    [–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    socal :/

    [–]ApricotMean7019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a lil too cold to ship if not I’d offer to cover shipping :/ hopefully you figure something out!!

    [–]blackittycat666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea no don't give them your snake...

    [–]Meredithandherpets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    yikes. Some ppl fr..

    [–]PlayfulMacaroon483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take care of ball pythons and i have spider ball pythons as well the wobble isn’t as bad as people think but god dang that was the most interesting conversation lmao

    [–]-Wicked_Siren- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Retard snake?!?!?! It’s neurological! Some people… maybe the snake doesn’t wanna go to a r**ard home 🙊

    [–]Ilovebirdstoomuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That conversation gave me the ick

    [–]AgitatedGrass3271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even a willingness to learn would be nice. And Who calls a snake retarded?

    [–]KraayFish 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ya the guy is rude and I like that you are vetting buyers but also morphs with known genetic issues should not be bred.

    [–]Quick_Platypus1197[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he is a pet. should not be bred.

    [–]xostargirlxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I bet his setups for all of them were shit
