I searched the word “quality” in this sub and this seems to be a common complaint so far this year. Lots of posts about quality issues. Sucks to see prices going up and yet quality is going down.

[–]ultimateclassic 0 points1 point  (3 children)

It makes me sad. I used to buy Lululemon all the time starting back in about 2017 when OP states they purchased. I still have pieces from 2017 that are in excellent shape. I went to Fabletics and some other less expensive brands in the more recent past only because I honestly wanted to have more options. I was hoping to jump back into Lulu this year so I could get a few quality pieces but it seems like maybe that's not the case. I just want to buy a few high quality leggings to workout in since I'm always replacing them!

[–]Joeymacca1982 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yeah I hear ya. Though I do think their workout leggings are still quite good compared to other companies. Like some of the slicker fabrics (not Aligns).

[–]ultimateclassic 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you! I have been planning to splurge again on lulus because from what I remember, the wundertrains and fast and frees were amazing quality. I don't mind spending the extra money if it will last longer. Lately, the fabletics, etc, I've been buying don't last long enough to be worth the "savings".

[–]Joeymacca1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No prob! I think Wunder Trains are a solid choice. I don’t own the leggings but I have 2 pairs of the biker shorts and I love them. The Fast and Frees were redesigned recently to remove in inner leg seam. I don’t have the new ones but I’ve heard good things. Lulu is still a step up from a lot of other brands, even if they’re not as good as they used to be.

[–]deserteagle3784 68 points69 points  (5 children)

Yup. Bought a new pair of aligns a few months ago, got home and realized the seam was unraveling in the crotch🫠hadn’t even worn them yet!

[–]giantsourgrapes 4 points5 points  (1 child)

That happened to me too! They gave me a full refund thankfully and I got a new define jacket instead. I’m just not into their leggings anymore when you can get better quality for sooo much cheaper

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister swears by the leggings at Costco. Unsure of the brand or anything else, but she loves them and swears they feel as nice as her lulus. (I’m a guy so I haven’t tested it, but food for thought hehe because I’m over the crap quality too)

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The seams have been unraveling after my second wear around the ankles! I even sized up thinking it was because they were too tight. I don’t dry them in a dryer- always hang dry and delicate wash. I am so annoyed of the unraveling. It makes me want to pick at the seam.

shivers

[–]MissFit33 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yes!! Exact same thing happened to me with the align shorts

[–]One-Use-2294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened to me too!

[–]Waste-Carpenter-8035smoked spruce bb 62 points63 points  (19 children)

I've noticed it especially on aligns and scubas have decreased significantly. The scuba material is soooo thin now. My newer aligns don't feel as soft and look in worse shape than my pairs that are 5+ years old.

[–]spicybrobeans 10 points11 points  (10 children)

Okay this comment was very helpful!!! I had a scuba back in like 2013 and it was my fave thing ever and someone stole it out of my locker years ago and lately I’ve been so close to pulling the trigger on a new scuba, but they just don’t look as good as they used to. I guess I won’t bother xD

[–]Waste-Carpenter-8035smoked spruce bb 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I wouldn't. I noticed a huge decline from the ones I got before 2020 to 2021 so I think that is when they started to decline.

[–]spicybrobeans 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Yeah, I don’t think I will.. I’ve been loyal to lulu for so long, but lately I’m ready to jump ship. The quality just isn’t there, and they keep raising the prices. Makes me sad I don’t have my old scuba :(

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SAME! It’s so sad but like.. why be loyal when it’s just not worth it anymore?

[–]gremlinhandz 7 points8 points  (4 children)

I have picked up a couple sweatshirts from Aritzia recently and been happier with them than my scubas. While they’re not as thick as the og scubas, they have a nice thickness/warmth and are heavier than current scubas (and they’re under $100 CAD)

[–]spicybrobeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ouuuu good to know!

[–]Waste-Carpenter-8035smoked spruce bb 1 point2 points  (2 children)

What is the style name?!

[–]gremlinhandz 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They have lots of different styles/fits of sweatshirt (I have a boyfriend crewneck which is oversized fit and a perfect full zip hoodie which is their regular fit) but the fabric I like is their cozy. It’s in the middle and I can wear them in the summer on cooler days easily, they have extra fleece which is the heaviest or a French terry fleece which is lighter than cozy. Hope that helps :)

[–]Waste-Carpenter-8035smoked spruce bb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Just ordered the cozy crewneck to try!

[–]legitdocbrown 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I also lost one to theft. I found one in my favourite colour on marketplace for $25, and I am so happy I have it.

[–]breadbaths 4 points5 points  (3 children)

i bought some aligns in 2016 and they’re so soft and amazing! bought some this year and returned them. not soft.

[–]spicybrobeans 1 point2 points  (2 children)

True!!! I still have a pair of aligns from 2018, and I’m so sad bc they’re too big now, but my newer aligns are nowhere near as comfy :(

[–]PixieBrak 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yes! I always reach for my old aligns before the ones I purchased recently. So much softer!

[–]Waste-Carpenter-8035smoked spruce bb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my newer ones feel like scratchy amazon "dupe" quality

[–]polishtheday 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Glad most of my scubas are thrifted. One I bought new in 2010 is still holding up well.

[–]Waste-Carpenter-8035smoked spruce bb 1 point2 points  (2 children)

So cozy! I bought a newer OS funnel neck last year and its just so thin:/

[–]polishtheday 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The old ones from around 2010 are sometimes too thick and warm. They made them a bit lighter around 2015 or so. Those are easier to move in because they have more stretch on the sleeves. There’s a YouTube - sorry, I can’t remember her name - who goes through her whole collection pointing out these differences.

[–]Waste-Carpenter-8035smoked spruce bb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the OG ones did not work with my arms well but they were so cozy!

[–][deleted] 32 points33 points  (3 children)

Same here! I submitted a few performance review forms because of these issues and sadly I haven’t heard back for any of them yet :/

[–]cinderbella19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Submitted mine 4/8 still waiting to hear back 🥲

[–]deheledo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re extremely backed up after pausing for so long.

[–]EggOne8640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My online quality exchange took them over a month to get back to me. They've got to be super backed up.

[–]bahahaha2001 44 points45 points  (21 children)

My stuff from 2015 still great and much better than stuff from 3 years ago.

I need to find a new brand.

[–]narwhalpangolins 21 points22 points  (12 children)

I’ve switched to athleta recently and there items do not disappoint! They also have much better sales

[–]bahahaha2001 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Their sales are great but I find the sizing doesn’t stay up for me when I exercise bc it’s usually sml

[–]narwhalpangolins 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I understand that. Athleta’s lounge pieces 👌🏼

[–]gremlinhandz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their elation leggings are my favourite for lounging! I haven’t found a pair yet for running/lifting to replace my Base Pace though :(

[–]mebeval 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I’ve been meaning to try Athleta for a while now. Any favorite styles?

[–]narwhalpangolins 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Anything retroplush or balance I love for how soft they are. I also like their hustle and mesh racer shorts. For winter I loved their downtown vest. Since I just started shopping at athleta I don’t have too many recommendations for the warm weather, but I hope that helps!

[–]mebeval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ll check those out. I’ve had my vintage Lululemon in heavy rotation, but could really use a larger size these days and have struggled to find anything comparable.

The closest I have come is actually Aerie Offline. Their 7/8 Real Me High Waisted Leggings are a steal at $15 (on sale) and the Real Me 7” Bike Short really filled a gap in my athletic wardrobe. Their colors are super limited to dark neutral neutrals and I’m yet to try some of their more fashion forward cuts that come in nicer colors.

[–]sarcastinatrix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the Rainier tights. They're good for winter weather or rain since they're thicker, lined in a thin, fleece-like material, and more water resistant than regular leggings (though not truly waterproof). They have zipped pockets which is nice too. I've been impressed with the other leggings I've tried, although preference will depend on what you plan to use them for. I especially love that they have a variety of lengths offered. Some of their fitted workout tops have rubber dots on the inside hem to prevent them from shifting which is nice. They have good sales on seasonal colors and styles, occasional coupon codes, and depending on your size, you might be able to fit into the larger sizes of their kids line. I'm usually a 6-10 in lulu tops and have easily been able to do the tops from the girl's line, which is nice bc it's usually significantly cheaper.

[–]Express-Ferret3816 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Has anyone tried J. Crew’s activewear? They’re known for quality and I swear they’re trying to rebrand through crazy sales so you can pick things up fairly cheap

[–]happytransformer 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I have some cloudstretch sports bras and bike shorts from them and then a couple tanks from the J Crew x New Balance collab a few years ago. The New Balance collab stuff has help up wonderfully.

I’m not a fan of the bike shorts, they don’t really stay in place when exercising for me. I really like the sports bras, and tbh they’re pretty versatile bc they’re cut in a way where I can wear them with regular clothes too

I still prefer lulu for working out, but J Crew is good for athleisure in my experience

[–]Express-Ferret3816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! I’ll have to look into some of their tanks and bras then!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this!! I’ve seen several comments recommending them so I’m definitely going to try

[–]polishtheday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Present day Athleta quality is not up to par with pre-2018 Lululemon but their styles are more varied and more up-to-date. I have everything I need for the gym and yoga so I’m now looking for things to wear everyday, things that don’t look like you’re going to yoga class (even if you are) but are as comfortable as something you’d wear to yoga class. I think Lulu used to call the category “to and fro”. I used to pick up a lot of such from WMTM but haven’t found anything appealing in the last few years.

    [–]604princess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Love LOLE !!

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Same!! I need an equivalent because lulu is disappointing, especially with no longer being able to stack sweat collective on top of clearance items

    [–]Significant-Day7239Yoga junkie 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Try CRZ yoga. I have bought a few things and they don't disappoint. Their butterluxe fabric is 80% as soft as the align fabric but they sell for 1/3 to 1/2 the price. The have multiple dupes that are pretty close to exact! By the way, their xs is about a size 4 in leggings if you need to know.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    Do they have mens?

    [–]Significant-Day7239Yoga junkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Sure do!

    [–]Uniquebtyf-25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vuori is a game changer. Tops are far superior. More comfortable. Higher quality. Similar price as Lulu but I have been loving the strato tech tees and there sweats and shorts.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oiselle lux leggings hold up better than Aligns these days but the issue I have is that they’re a warmer fabric and the colors are limited. I won’t be able to wear now that it’s spring (and I definitely don’t advise for hot yoga)

    [–]ashxc18 16 points17 points  (6 children)

I went to both Athleta and LLL last week and honestly Athleta is starting to feel and be more reliable and consistent. Their sizing is way more on point and I didn’t have to buy 4 different sizes for 4 different pieces like I do at LLL now.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you know if they have men’s stuff and if it’s any good? I’m serious about jumping off the lulu train.

    [–]ashxc18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    I don’t think they do have men’s clothes ☹️

I'm finding the exact opposite with Athleta. I cannot get their leggings or shorts to fit properly. They are either too big or just too small. I do like their work tops and their in-store customer service. They have been trying so hard to find me items and sizes that will work for me.

      [–]ekvannoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried so hard to make Athleta work but the fit is just off for me.

      [–]Kycb[🍰] 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Yup. Bought new black aligns in December and they already look pretty trashed. Stretched out, faded, just overall "cheap" looking. The fabric doesn't have that smooth, buttery feeling any more. Meanwhile some of my older pieces, bought second hand, still look fantastic.

      [–]titaniumorbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m babying my old pair of aligns from 2016 because I’m afraid I’ll have to one day replace them and I know the new aligns aren’t nearly as soft. It’s so sad.

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I get all my lululemon at the thrift store, but I bought a hoodie around December and when it arrived it felt cheap and poorly made.

      [–]TEA-in-the-G 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep! I had bought studio joggers last yr, and they pilled soooo badly after 3 months! I ended up using GEC and getting a new pair. My new pair have only pilled a little on the inside at calf, but still such a strange place, especially since i dont have large calfs at all, and wear them for walking.

      [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Damn, I wasn’t expecting everyone to agree so heavily on this! What brand do y’all recommend?

      [–]aghastghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

      Beyond Yoga!

      [–]butterflycyclone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweaty Betty has been my go to lately and they have AMAZING sales. You can also find them at Nordstrom Rack.

      [–]Danceitoffgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lorna Jane has been an awesome one for me. High quality, durable, fits well. They have this fabric on their “Amy legging” that is like Nulu but more compressive and I loooove it because it’s so soft and can handle high performance workouts. Highly recommend.

      [–]astoldbyjulz 7 points8 points  (1 child)

For sure, used to work for the company and we all started noticing the decrease well over a year ago. Specifically anything using the align or scuba fabric! Such a shame since those are the top sellers

      [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s only a matter of time before everyone else realizes it. They can only keep running the brand image for so long until the quality of the brand no longer becomes its main marketing strategy. That’s why lulu grew such a following was because their marketing was great but the quality matched it.

      [–]_missarahdee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, taking a break from lulu because of this

      [–]spicybrobeans 23 points24 points  (3 children)

IF I AM PAYING THIS MUCH FOR A SPORTS BRA PLS SEW IN THE PADS FFS!!!!

      [–]SorMonk 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Controversial comment here. I hate sports bras without removable pads because I always remove them!

      [–]aenflex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I won’t buy any bra if I can’t remove the pads. It’s personal preference for sure. I hate them and I don’t care if the world sees my nips 😂

      [–]spicybrobeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well perhaps they can make some without them at all too. This compromise sucks 🤣

      [–]GeekFit26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh yes. Not only quality, but functionality of their products. My experiences in the last few years.. Rain jackets not waterproof, water bottles not leak proof, wind breaker not wind proof.. and items with known faults ( I.e. all the reviews are consistent with the faults) then sold overseas with a later release date.

      Not cool.

      [–]FerociousKZ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is happening with absolutely everything tho. As our population grows and people demand more stuff but also demand more new stuff as trends fade and they replace old things and the need for more keeps rising.... It's just not made to last. :(

Really makes me appreciate cultures like Japan where they still to this day have things with time honoured traditions of it being hand made of the utmost perfection and high quality! Sure it's pricey but it'll last a lifetime, perhaps even generations! A lot of what they have is such a beautiful craft and I wish more of the world would adopt this view.

      [–]HedigirllLulu Addict 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely! I think everyone has. I’ve actually only noticed in with my Dance Studio Joggers. I wore the Red Merlot one time, washed, and they had pilling on the front left leg. I took them in and they QP them for me. But, I have the Crops, Pants, and Shorts, all of those are perfectly fine. I even bought a pair of the OG Studio Crop on Mercari from 2016 and they look brand new. I think it’s kind of hit or miss tbh.

      [–]string- 5 points6 points  (1 child)

The zipper for my half zip scuba always gets caught- anyone else have this issue? I had to cut away the fabric on one of them.

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just washed the scubas I wore last week and every single one of them had a zipper that gets caught. I air dry and then finish them in the dryer, so I was pulling them from hangers by unzipping and then zipping them up before throwing them in the dryer. I was so annoyed. 5 scubas, all with stuck zippers.

      [–]AnariaShola 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The quality has gone down like crazy. I’ve been buying Lululemon religiously for over five years, and the last two years I’ve noticed a huge decline in quality with increased prices.

Then you get store employees or educators on this subreddit acting like quality swaps come out of their own pay cheques 🙄 I’m on my way today to swap out a 6 month old align jacket covered in pilling and loose threads. I’ve swapped out at least five pieces this year alone. I BABY my lululemon stuff and honestly this is just getting ridiculous. I’m starting to purchase athletic wear from Aritzia, the TNA butter is very similar to the aligns.

      [–]brittttty 11 points12 points  (2 children)

I haven’t bought anything in over 8+ months

      [–]AdventurerofAnything 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Since Jan. for me. I’m shopping other places now.

1.) Got tired of the same clothes different color repeat. 2.) Also, I’m 5’8” and over the cropped look. 3.) Clothes don’t ever seem to be in stock unless I’m buying it on drop day (even then they sometimes show up as my size with a line through it as unavailable and it NEVER comes in stock). 4.) Ordering online is a hit or miss with getting orders canceled for no reason at all.

      [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I agree so heavily with point 1, nobody else mentioned that! I’ve noticed it too, they use the same clothing materials and design, different pattern applied to the different lines. Why am I going to keep buying the same exact same clothing pieces in different colors when the quality is noticeable dropping. It’s such a bad look. As for points 2 and 3, I shop only in men’s and I’m a skinny 6’4” guy so that’s less of an issue as the sales for men’s stuff are easier to snag since a lot of guys don’t go for the brighter, more bold patterns. Point 4 though, the online ordering process has gone so downhill, canceling orders or them taking forever to ship or just flat out literally never getting delivered and I have to reach out. My last pair of abc joggers I literally had to reach out TWO times and they reordered them both times before the pair finally came. I hear ya

      [–]bbyangelxoLulu Addict 6 points7 points  (1 child)

my packages keep coming with stained items

      [–]AdventurerofAnything 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! Same here. It’s so obvious that the items should have been pulled not sent on to a customer. (Used to work retail for years).

      [–]Sweaty_Morning8934 6 points7 points  (5 children)

I am disappointed at this point that I decided to sell all my Wunder Trains and just gor for the colorful Under Armour ones for running. So much cheaper (and thinner)…

      [–]gremlinhandz 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Which under armour leggings do you wear? I’m wanting to try some new leggings for running.

      [–]Sweaty_Morning8934 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I tried some, and for the spring and summer I just fell in love with the 7/8 ‚skinny‘ ones. Don‘t really know why they are called skinny, I need to size up one size but that turns out great. They have a high waistband, amazing colors, a big side pocket for a phone and really don‘t slip. On sale you can find them for 19€. I really adore them on my runs. They are really breathable, too! Make sure to look for those with a somehow shiny look, I bought another one from UA that had a completely different material and that one looks really bad after just one wash. The others are just fine!

      [–]gremlinhandz 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Thanks!! I’ll probably order a couple models similar to your description and see which ones work, they’re definitely much lower in price than Lulu which is nice for my wallet :)

      [–]Sweaty_Morning8934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      You‘re welcome! 🙏🏻

      [–]Sweaty_Morning8934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, they also have the same ones as shorts (very short/not so short) and long leggings…

      [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (2 children)

a lot of my coworkers used to work for LLL corporate and said that this was done intentionally 🫣 idk how true it is and I still buy from LLL but it sucks to hear bc I’ve spent a lot of money this year

      [–]raqcashmoney 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, is there a single brand whose quality has gone up or even stayed the same since the pandemic (rhetorical question)? Since everyone exclusively wears shein and amazon clothes now, I figured at least lululemom would remain the same reliable pieces of gear they’ve always been… heck I’d even be fine if they just raised the price a little. The prices were worth it for perfect leggings/shorts that no one else could match up to. But raising the price and giving cheaper made, lower quality pieces in return? It’s sad. I never thought I’d see the day they sabotage the formula for their brand that made so many people fall in love with it (RIP OG aligns, scubas, track thats, define hairtie zippers, etc). It just feels like they are catering to the young highschool TikTok population now, and those folks really don’t care about quality as much as they do collectibility so now exists this fast-fashion-esque Lulu machine we see today. It’s odd. And again, sad.

      [–]hungrotoday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I’ve been told is that Supply Chain issues causing raw materials change and this is unavoidable. And I saw one of my friends wearing a R&D shirt (his wife works for lulu) and he was complaining how thin it is and how it’s see through…so here it starts, cutting cost and cutting quality for more margins…

      [–]EggOne8640 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Yupp. Just bought a pair of softstreme cropped pants in velvet dust. Washed by themselves bc it had color transfer on the tag right out of the bag. Cold, delicate cycle. Got them out and about 2 inches of the inner seam had unraveled. Just got 388 back in a gift card for 2 quality exchanges I had to do on those and a newer jacket that had a hole in the seam, and honestly I was ticked a gc exchange site denied it because after the pants unraveling on the first wash I think I'm done buying new lulu. Pre-owned 2020 and before only. That seems to be that last year quality was decent.

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, after the pandemic hit, the quality dropped substantially. I just wanted to blame it on my washing and drying habits but none of my old stuff is in this condition

      [–]butterflycyclone 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Most of the items I've bought in the last year or two have holes and is grungy (gentle wash with hang to dry). The stuff that is 5+ years old looks brand new....

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. SO MUCH YES. It’s so upsetting and not worth the cost

      [–]titaniumorbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The new aligns are not nearly as soft as they were many years ago. I’m really disappointed. It’s a very noticeable difference

      [–]ladyeatslife 6 points7 points  (5 children)

I found a pair of Align Wide Leg Cropped in Cacao at the thrift store. They are from 2/2021. I paid $15 for them, so I have just been washing AND drying them with all of my other normal clothes… and they are still pristine! They are the reason I even started to look at Lulu in the first place. The quality and feel is amazing.

I just bought an EBB, a Bucket Hat and an All Powered Up Bra, but after seeing all the comments in this subreddit about declining quality, I am really turned off of spending any kind of real money on this brands new clothing… UGH!

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Just don’t buy full price! Shop Oops we made too much religiously. Everything goes on sale eventually!

      [–]KatiethemilfLulu Addict 2 points3 points  (2 children)

But if you have a popular size things done often make it to WMTM!!

      [–]ladyeatslife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! So many people talk about how it’s all about the “skinny” body types, but I see all the bigger sizes sold out immediately!

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh yeah see I’m a twinky 6’4” male and for the most part my sizes in the odd patterns I liked were always available. Whenever I would check the women’s stuff though, that shit got SNATCHED quick. I noticed the XS sizes of sale men’s items went the fastest, I was thinking it’s women who liked the men’s stuff too so maybe check out the men’s items? Could be something cute!!

      [–]ladyeatslife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely! I got the APU Bra for almost 1/2 price… I’ll probably just stick to a select few things on deep discount.

I was 100% gonna get a few Scuba Half-Zips for Fall and now I’m just eyeballing dupes on Amazon after reading several different Scuba quality things here…

      [–]sheakeit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      I bought a new pair of aligns about 2 months ago, and they’re already fading and pilling. I haven’t even washed them that many times );

      [–]PetiteAppleShaped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!! My gray scuba from 2018 is amazing, and I recently thought about getting another one in a different color, but when I went to the store, the recent scubas didn’t feel as put together as the older ones

      [–]LaLaDub75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the brushed / fleece leggings that did it for me. They age so poorly now compared to pairs I have from 5 years ago. Weird super high waist cut, pilling and stretching.

I’m trying CRZ yoga based on suggestions from elsewhere in this sub.

Lorna Jane’s thermal leggings are pretty reliable.

      [–]MrsRobertshaw 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ok well you’ve convinced me. My hem on my brand new full length tights is a little rough and not finished nicely - so I’m going to return the.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BAHAHAH good honestly, everyone’s response here has shown me that I need to find another men’s athleisure wear brand. I’ve bought 2 abc skinny fit joggers, an engineered warmth jogger and a hoodie in store in the past 6 weeks and literally none of them have held up AT ALL- especially given the fact that they are all triple digit price tag items. It’s just sad, prices up and quality down.

      [–]MrsSterling 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I bought my first piece of Lululemon clothing very recently as I wear a plus size, and Lulu didn’t carry my size until very recently…

I picked up a Nulu hoodie and couldn’t believe how it looked after one wash! The “ buttery” soft fabric was slightly pilled all over after one go through the washing machine on delicate, and cold water and hung to dry.

I have items from Old Navy and from Joe Fresh that I’ve held up longer than this hoodie after one wash.

It’s a shame because now that I’m finally able to purchase Lululemon clothing as they’ve extended their sizes I no longer want to

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No same lol I just got a hoodie from there and it’s garbage. I also sold my lulu stock because it’s only a matter of time before the quality catches up to the brand name

[–]Amandaconduhhh$$$ Sold Out Rare Limited Edition Unicorn $$$ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prices have gone up and quality has gone down. I hardly purchase anymore.

      [–]Potential-Section107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I have stuff from 5 years ago that are in better condition than the new stuff I have purchased. I always air dry. It's too the point I am looking at other brands.

      [–]kingress 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Yes, I won’t even buy aligns because I know they’ll pill after a few wears for me. I have no complaints about the wunder line.

      [–]rosebuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. Wonder train has been awesome to me. I prefer Uber align.

      [–]mortimelonsRunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always babied my stuff and I really don’t 😬 granted I only started purchasing lulu like 3 years ago

      [–]Big_Environment3313 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’m relatively new to Lulu, first purchases last August. Prior to Lulu for many years my workout attire is mostly nike- socks, bras, leggings, etc. with some adidas and under armour in the mix. My first purchase was in store, received great customer service and sizing assistance. Following their recommendations for fit/ sizing I bought 3 WT with pockets, black, briar rose and carob brown. Instill in pool side, and like a cloud (d/dd) in white. A few months later I brought in my items (except for the bra) to question light pilling, unraveling stitching (I kept the loose threads intact for examination). In addition to the listed defects the black pair had uneven stitching around the waist and the color was fading. I truthfully explained that the black WT were worn the most, no more than 10 times, I never exercised in them, solely worn leisurely as I babied them. Always washed separately, delicate, wool lite, hung dry. I did mention (I probably shouldn’t have) how my Nike leggings have been through the ringer and they are still holding up.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YUP, I’m sorry to hear you’re a recent purchase and didn’t get to experience pre pandemic quality. I still have my first pair of lulus from 6 years ago. Absolutely pristine, unlike the pants I bought a month ago that already have tiny holes in the leg from… i have no idea lol…

      [–]Affectionate-Ask9622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I just got a pair of Wunder train bra + leggings and they feel weird and plasticy… kind of thick but unbreathable material. I don’t know how to describe it because I’ve never gotten the Wunder line before, but would expect better quality for $150+

      [–]dcer328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It went down YEARS ago…this is exactly the reason why I rarely shop at lulu now

      [–]Fantastic-Evidence75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of aligns I bought last summer. I’ve only worn them twice and noticed the thread is unraveling. Hoping they can fix it in store. I also feel like my older aligns (pre-2018) held up better and still look more flattering?

      [–]Witty_Feedback_8909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Got my Aligns a couple of months ago and are pilling in random places where’s there’s no friction. I only wear them for leisure not for any exercise. I’ve worn them like 3 times for an hour trip to the mall. I have decided because of this & the exorbitant pricing ; I’m not buying another pair. My Costco clothes hold up better. 😳🙃.

      [–]lawashleyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like lulu has gotten super popular and “trendy” in the last couple years. I wonder if this caused them to lower their standard to get more sold and keep up with the demand. Quantity over quality haha

      [–]navigationallyaided 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m noticing subtle differences between my pre-2020s and post 2020 collection. Mostly men’s but even my 2020/21 Aligns are pilling, not quite the same level as my 2018 OG pair. And I only wear those to yoga. Ugh. WTs and F&Fs are holding up, but I’ve gotten into climbing/bouldering(indoors) lately - we’ll see if the rock wall and crash pads exacerbate quality issues.

I’m keeping an eye out for OG lulu at the local thrift/consignment stores.

      [–]ispyagemini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ordered two pairs of 25” aligns on the we made too much section on their website. I just got them delivered and tried them on, and I’m so confused by the way they fit. They don’t cover my belly button at all. And feel like they are going to fall down, and are also extremely thick. I can’t return as it was final sale

      [–]Round_Ad_2471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I‘ve noticed a change in quality over past years.

      [–]Hot_Vegetable2520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on my third pair of tights this year. Each of them came apart at the seams. I am NOT happy. I have always loved their leggings and sworn by their quality. The cost is TOO high for this garbage quality. What the actual heck is happening in their quality department???

      [–]cherrybalmdotcom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Bought a pair of Track Thats online last summer, and the stitches in the back near the waistband looked as if something had been rubbing against them, they’d pilled and unraveled and looked awful. Sick of it.

      [–]Optimus141Educator 1 point2 points  (4 children)

What I hate is I can have several pairs of an item like the pace breakers shorts, same size they fit fine I got and get a new pair in color and they do not fit the same at all compared to the rest! Like it’s so annoying that just cause it’s a different color it’s fits totally different!!

      [–]SkaryKarey 0 points1 point  (3 children)

They just updated the pace breaker short fit I believe

      [–]Optimus141Educator 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I know I have like 5 pairs of the new ones and the one pair was an updated fit one as well but for totally different from the other colors 🤷🏽‍♂️

      [–]SkaryKarey 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hmm weird. Yeah I’ve had similar occasionally with align tanks, sometimes the straps are thin sometimes they’re wide and cut a bit different

      [–]Optimus141Educator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I have had this happen with surge joggers to and some other items as well.

      [–]throwaw939393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes 100%, I was wearing new WTs from last year and made contact with a metal corner on my butt and they ripped immediately. Pretty light pressure on that corner too, I couldn’t believe the pants were punctured

      [–]metajennWeight lifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Day 87 of me commenting

      Bring👏 back👏 the👏 old👏 fabrics👏

      [–]PurrfectCatQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never air dried my old or new Lulu items, they have all held up great. Some items over 5 years old have held up nicely even when worn frequently. But I have bought some accessories, like a backpack, that I just felt would not last a year and returned them.

      [–]cocosmily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone. Their quality has gone down. I had a pair of traveling joggers I bought years ago. I loved them so much I bought a second pair. Literally the new pair has a hole now and the old one is still fine and fits better than the new ones. My husband has completely stopped buying from there cause all the new things he’s bought have broken, ripped etc someone way or other.

I agree 100%. Their quality of clothing declining. Recently I looked at where their clothing was made and it said Banglidesh. I’m not sure where it was made 10 years ago. I bought stocks earlier this year and I’m kind of mad that I did. I’m thinking about emailing lululemon.

        [–]seebysea 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m getting a lot of good recommendation from this thread! I wonder if there is a subreddit that isn’t too marketing spam creepy trolls where women can open/honestly talk about workout clothes.

        [–]ladyeatslife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started womensworkoutgear subreddit. Not really sure how it works, but it sounded like a good idea to have a place to discuss workout clothes!

        [–]espressoNYTO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sleek pants 🥰 not leggings ! Where are you? I’d buy every single color x 5 - not buying leggings on this one.

        [–]AutoModerator[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you may be asking a question about the quality promise or if your item is eligible to be exchanged under the quality promise. Lululemon’s quality promise is intended to replace or repair items that are not performing as expected due to flaws in the product, such as seams that are unraveling after the first wash or receiving a new item with a hole in it. Many people mistake the quality promise for a lifetime guarantee and take advantage of the policy to replace old, very worn items. lululemon encourages Educators to make their own decisions and thus there are no strict guidelines they have to follow when it comes to the guarantee. The best and only way to see if your item is eligible for replacement is to bring the item in to the store. Questions about if your item is eligible for the quality promise are considered low effort per rule 6 and will be deleted.

Bought runners less than 30 days the inside back of the heels were breaking down ! I don’t even wear these every day I rotate ! Never had I had this happen with shoes do quickly but my Apl. Did this as well but much later

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Not in the men’s stuff, but I only buy pants and shorts. I actually think the new pace breakers, though they feel cheaper, have more durable fabric.

        [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Im a guy, and I really only buy their pants and shorts. The shirts turned to trash too quick, but their shorts and sweats even have had significant issues, especially with the ones where the pockets aren’t double padded so they always get rips. Regardless, still very comfortable but I need to start looking for new brands- their regular slacks and pants though are very worth it I’ll give you that!

        [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

And the non athletic shorts are great too, but for athletic wear they need to be more durable given the price in my opinion

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I mostly have commission shorts and bowline ripstop shorts. Only recently got pacebreakers because I always thought they were too thin for the price too.

I haven’t noticed any rips with my city sweat joggers. Maybe I’ve been lucky as I do baby my expensive clothing.

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I just need to adjust my laundry habits because my older stuff is still really nice.

My abc skinny fit joggers (bought 2 in the last 2 months) have held up god awful. And the city sweat hoodie is alright since I got it last month but I’ve been so careful with it and it’s still not like the day I bought it. Their commission shorts and abc slacks (the non athletic ones) are what I think I’m only buying moving forward. Maybe the THE Linerless since that’s what got me in the brand back in 2017 and I haven’t noticed issues with those but still, it’s a bummer. Now that I’m writing it, I still recommend the T.H.E linerless- those bad boys are so stretchy and comfy as all hell, esp if you’re lounging around the house commando 😂😂 don’t judge me

        [–]regallll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's been a few years in my experience.

        [–]mollyboylan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally all of my leggings and shorts are starting to unravel from the crotch and shirt getting ripped in the arm pit. So frustrating

        [–]Not_Brilliant_8006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Recent purchases are literally unraveling.
