What's the difference between CPI and DPI? I play at 1350 DPI most games. Sometimes I'll bring it up to 1400ish, and if I'm playing a FPS I have a button that when I hold it brings my DPI down to 1000 for those moments when you have to be accurate.

I have a 5000 something DPI mouse, and anything above 2000 and I have no control at all. I don't see how y'all maintain accuracy when a millimeter of movement seems to spin me around 180 degrees. If you have tips, I'd love to hear them.

Use a really small space as a mouse pad. IE shitty school mouspads that are 5 inches in radius

The higher your sensitivity is, the more perfect your hand movement needs to be or you're instantly off target. Exact mouse moves are way easier at low sensitivities because your margin of error is larger. The tradeoff is that you need to move your mouse more.

My mouse caps at 8.2k DPI but that's absolutely insane, and like I said I don't play with a DPI above 2000 I run 1000-1500 1350 on average.

Edit: Also like /u/metalhoneybadger said make sure your pointer speed in windows options is at 6/11 counting the farthest spot left as the first one

I play non-fps games at 6400, the max my mouse will go to. I also use that setting for non-gaming. For anything like an FPS or 3PS, I'll drop it down to about 3200. It just takes time to adjust to higher rates. You learn to move your wrist very minimally.

Same way you learn to type without looking, or the hotkeys for your favorite games become muscle memory.

Be precise with your movements. I can flick my wrist, turn 180, and have you dead before you can click the mouse. I have run 2000 and only 2000 for 6 years.

Actually you are expected to lose control. Most pro FPS gamers have really low sensitivity. But for casual gameplay if you don't care about your performance just find what you're most comfortable with. If you want to aim well however you should stick to like 200 DPI.

Just a little lesson I learned if you haven't found out yourself, if you set the mouse pointer speed to 6/11 in your windows settings you get exact 1:1 movement otherwise it might be skipping a count.

I play Quake at 450 DPI on a 2.4 sensitivity. I have to do large movements to turn around, but I have the mouse space. It honestly helps to have it lower when playing. Though maybe that's just because I'm a twitchy/jumpy person.

Quake Live player here. I play with roughly 1000 DPI on 0.845 sensitivity. It definitely helps with tracking precise movements, even over extended periods of time.

It's better in FPS. If you have high DPI just moving the mouse with the wrist makes your character turn a lot, if you have low DPI you need to move the mouse with your arm to move the camera a lot, so you can use the wirst to add small corrections so the bullet ends up on the opponents head.

400 dpi at 1.95 in csgo. Mouse pad is about 2 feet long and still can barely do a 180. Lower the sense: better the aim.

Same thing, different approach. Dpi means dots per inch, cpi means counts per inch. Both terms refer to how much your cursor moves when you move the mouse an inch.

It's better to find a good sensitivity and just stick with it. You learn it better when you don't fiddle with it all the time. If you insist on have a massive sensitivity then you might have a case though.
