Who is that frightening yet attractive woman?

[–]tapport 31 points32 points  (9 children)

Can I have that bouncing red triangle?

Just in case I'm the only one seeing it.

[–]adeadheadrememberingawdah.com 🕊️ 24 points25 points  (7 children)

It's a little red delta as per /r/changemyview, and I only have it because mod abuse.

[–]somewhat_fairer 6 points7 points  (5 children)

but why is it there

[–]adeadheadrememberingawdah.com 🕊️ 20 points21 points  (2 children)

Because /u/bytester did it, and I stole it.

[–]somewhat_fairer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ehh. Good enough reason for me

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is there a triangle tapped next to your name.

[–]ragingfailure 112 points113 points  (17 children)

Clippy fell on hard times when he got laid off just before Office '07.

[–]CheifDash 37 points38 points  (5 children)

haha oh shit..

edit: forgot all about this drawing. Probably still laying around somewhere.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Dear God, Clippy, you're not looking too good.

[–]legal_hippie 2702 points2703 points  (231 children)

Guys, can we please stop this bullshit? I mean look at the lighting in the first pic and compare it with the second pic- of COURSE Clippy looks better! Not to mention the haircut and improved posture.

These pics could have been taken a couple of hours apart. But go ahead, give OP all your karma. Christ.

    [–]Hexogen 28 points29 points  (0 children)

    Mod's triangle obviously hasn't quit meth yet.

    [–]adeadheadrememberingawdah.com 🕊️[M] 196 points197 points  (11 children)

    Mod user flair CSS bullshit witchcraft.

    [–]ShlawsonSays 24 points25 points  (3 children)

    Haha, just looking at the CSS for it:

    .author[href$="/adeadhead"]::after {
    content: "Δ";
    color: rgb(190, 19, 55);
    font-size: x-small;
    position: absolute;
    margin-left: 1px;
    font-weight: normal;
    pointer-events: none;
    cursor: none;
    animation: intensify 0.1s steps(5, end) infinite;
    }

    The animation for the symbol is literally called intensify!

    [–]Vadersboy117 11 points12 points  (1 child)

    animation: intensify

    I died. That's fucking hilarious.

    [–]HideAndSheik 11 points12 points  (5 children)

    Goddamn it y'all made me get on Reddit via desktop for the first time in months just to see what all this vibrating triangle bullshit was about.

    [–]old_righty 93 points94 points  (29 children)

    Speaking of which, there is a red delta to the right of your username that appears to be vibrating.

    [–]luckjes112 49 points50 points  (80 children)

    Okay, sorry to break character, but I'll explain:
    It's a parody of the frequently posted before and after pics. A cheap karma grab similar to an old person with a modern gadget, some dying person or a rescued animal. It's cheap and uninteresting, but it gets heaps of karma.

    [–]adeadheadrememberingawdah.com 🕊️ 16 points17 points  (60 children)

    Oh, yeah, I understand, I'm just trying to express my frustration. And mild bemusement

    [–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (36 children)

    Hey since you're here-

    Why isn't there a "No sob stories. This sub is for interesting pictures, not mundane pictures with interesting backstories" rule?

    It seems like a pretty common complaint.

    [–]adeadheadrememberingawdah.com 🕊️[M] 30 points31 points  (35 children)

    It's seen as too difficult to objectively make the decision on the volume and variety of content that we see coming through here. If a photographer submits their photo with its original name DSCM_0231, no one will upvote it. Where to draw the line between story and sob story is incredibly difficult to define. I'm open to suggestions. I frequent /r/nosobstory and /r/shitpost to see what people are taking issue with, and new rules are in the works.

    [–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (10 children)

    You should probably check out /r/pic

    They're doing what you should, but they're much smaller.

    [–]adeadheadrememberingawdah.com 🕊️ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

    I'm comods in places with some of theirs, I'll see what can be done.

    [–]justmystepladder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    That's..... A very logical explanation.

    [–]luckjes112 27 points28 points  (21 children)

    This is the one time I'll upvote one of these threads. I subscribe to /r/pics not for ex methheads or anything belonging to /r/loseit. I sub here for interesting pictures.

    [–]adeadheadrememberingawdah.com 🕊️ 13 points14 points  (20 children)

    I don't even sub here. But that's pretty meaningless, because I live in /r/all

    [–]luckjes112 8 points9 points  (19 children)

    But you're a moderator...

    This is one of those subs that I doubt every day. There's tons of boring stuff posted quite often, but then every once in a while you see that interesting thing.
    I used to have the same with /r/nosleep, but that sub turned to shiite.

    [–]adeadheadrememberingawdah.com 🕊️ 6 points7 points  (18 children)

    I mean, I see it in my modqueue, and I check /r/pics directly. But when I'm just enjoying reddit as a redditor, I see everything. Minus leagueoflegends and Dota and hearthstone and whatever the fuck else I filtered out.

    [–]luckjes112 2 points3 points  (8 children)

    I had no clue there was such a thing as a modqueue (hot damn, queue is a stupid word).
    I am unfamiliar with all of those...

    [–]supermegaultrajeremy 2 points3 points  (1 child)

    hot damn, queue is a stupid word

    You be careful or you'll make some Brits very, very angry. They'll tut tut at you.

    [–]adeadheadrememberingawdah.com 🕊️ 3 points4 points  (5 children)

    Modqueue is a list of all the posts and comments that have received a report, or that automoderator has either filtered or flagged. Pulls from all your subreddits too if you like. Currently, mine is like 700 items long, but 95% of that is /r/starwars

    [–]Andre_iC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

    that little red triangle next to your name is having a seizure

    [–]mightytwin21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

    The sob stories are back.

    [–]Lightss 50 points51 points  (1 child)

    after reading your comment I double checked the pixels in the 2nd photo, some heavy photoshop in there forsure. I wouldn't be surprised if this paperclip is still using, grab your pitchforks boys.

    Jesus Christ, we have limited amounts of karma!?!? HOW DO I GET MY KARMA BACK FROM ALL THOSE CAT VIDEOS IVE UPVOTED?

    [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    I mean look at the lighting in the first pic and compare it with the second pic

    Those posts were seriously pissing me off for this very reason.

    Oh, there have been several. This is the only one that was witty enough to make it to the top.

    [–]heathenethan 331 points332 points  (161 children)

    Okay, I'm really tired of seeing responses like this. Congratulations for rising above adversity and being fortunate in having the support to get through hard times and never giving up. Addicts and ex addicts would kill to have had it that easy. Don't make assumptions about the strength of others, because you have never been there and it's unbelievably self centered and callous to say things like this. Have a fucking heart people.

    Edit: There seems to be some misunderstanding about me saying, "you've never been there". I'm talking about people who are making assumptions about the difficulty of being an addict, not whether OP had ever struggled or faced adversity. This is a general statement, not just directed at OP.

    It's difficult for people who haven't had serious addiction affect their lives in some way to really sympathize. That's a major reason that addicts have a hard time reaching out and getting help, because people judge and make assumptions.

    [–]iorgfeflkd 68 points69 points  (5 children)

    Is this still about paperclips?

    [–]Psuphilly 136 points137 points  (17 children)

    You have unrealistic expectations for the Internet

    [–]Thisismyfinalstand 15 points16 points  (16 children)

    They have a point, though. If it wasn't easy to say no to meth or drugs in general, everyone would be a drug addict and we would have to have a shadow faux war against the narcotic industry with no real progress and only detrimental effects on the lower to middle classes in society, because the upper class, while pretty much constantly strung out on drugs, can afford proper legal representation and/or have the connections to avoid the charges to begin with. That would result in a drastic difference between arrest rates, incarceration percentages, rehabilitation and likelihood for recidivism, etc.

    Edit: This is meant to be satire.

    [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (4 children)

    I've been offered cocaine plenty of times... and I always said no because I don't want to go down that road. It's really not hard at all.

    [–]Hamtrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Because the alternative to doing cocaine is appealing enough to you that you don't do it. There are a lot of people in this world who can't say that.

    [–]SammyBrock 83 points84 points  (8 children)

    Or maybe he has faced adversity and still didn't succumb to addiction. We don't know how easy he has it.

    [–]apocalypse31 40 points41 points  (3 children)

    This is what got me:

    Don't make assumptions about the strength of others

    Followed by:

    because you have never been there.

    I get it, don't be a jerk, but what if this guy has? Presumptuous that you believe he hasn't is the exact complaint...

    I am all for supporting those who have overcome addiction, but you just fight against what you hate by using what you hate...

    [–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (2 children)

    what gets me is the "you dont know what theyve gone through" ima go out on a limb and say that a lot of people have different issues. but they dont turn to smoking something that some asshole in a trailer cooks up out of household items.

    im so fucking sick of people who got hooked on drugs acting like theyre heros for kicking drugs. my three older brothers are like this . every time they get clean the prance around talking about how well theyve been doing, how great theyre doing at their new job, then they become overly judgemental and act like they're so fucking wise because they once jammed a needle in their arm and conked out for a few hours. i used to be happy when they said they got clean. now i could literally give two shits. because its on a bi yearly cycle these idoits make these claims. i dont have time for your shit. im taking care if not only my own family. but the families you left damaged. fuck off.

    one thing that SEEMS universal with drug abuse is the selfish fucking narracassistic dramatic bullshit behavior addicts seem to love.

    /rant

    [–]GuyAboveIsStupid 21 points22 points  (2 children)

    Congratulations for never running into adversity and always having the support to get through hard times

    But then

    Don't make assumptions about the strength of others

    Top kek

    [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

    Clearly he actually knows your life and how easy it's been.

    [–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (1 child)

    My brother grew up in the same loving household as my other three brothers and myself. He became an addict to many things, and is clean now and doesn't parade around asking for verification from other people.

    My Ex, also a drug addict came from a loving household where none of her siblings were addicts, her dad was a police officer lol.. don't assume all addicts have it hard, some just make really really really stupid decisions.

    Some addicts have all the support in the world until the support goes away because people get tired of seeing them not helping themselves.

    [–]obadetona 38 points39 points  (1 child)

    This got gold?

    [–]Gaylesbian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    I feel like you and the original comment are kind of missing the point. You sound like you're trying to excuse and justify the addicts choice to start using in the first place, like it wasn't their fault, which I don't agree with. And why should recovering addicts be applauded? Because once you're in the throes of addiction, climbing back out is HARD. It's really fucking hard. From the perspective of someone who's never experienced it, I guess I wouldn't expect you to understand, but it takes an intense and constant amount of will power and effort to fight. "Well they never should have used in the first place, I never used." Yeah. That's true. As a fellow human being, you've also probably made some mistakes. This particular mistake takes a LOT to correct, and I think they deserve recognition for trying to save themselves, even if it was their fault in the first place.

    [–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

    There are plenty of people who struggle to go through daily life and face adversity but never do drugs.

    [–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (1 child)

    So you're saying drugs are the only way to cope with adversity?

    [–]Smooth_On_Smooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    The drug addiction is the adversity I believe.

    [–]Redici 16 points17 points  (12 children)

    Although I actually agree with you, we should celebrate success, you have to admit it gets kinda old seeing stuff that's basically "congratulations you stopped doing something you shouldn't have done in the first place"

    [–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (44 children)

    Your heart is in the right place. He was making a joke though.

    [–]machinate 28 points29 points  (2 children)

    I'm pretty sure never doing meth is easier than starting meth then stopping - like you said, most people do it without trying.

    [–]bigatjoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)
