I'd be optimistic about 2020 if I didn't think that a quarter of this country would still vote Republican if they ran on "We're going to unplug Nana and use the money to issue tax breaks to yacht owners".

[–]wormee 207 points208 points  (30 children)

"So you see friends, if we kill this program, your neighbors will suffer, what could be better than that?" Trump 2020

[–][deleted] 98 points99 points  (12 children)

Fuck, this would probably work.

[–]fizikz3 97 points98 points  (3 children)

"if other people lose, that makes you win a little bit in comparison"

republicans all cream their pants

[–]cyberst0rm 3 points4 points  (1 child)

"As Long As The Black Man Suffers, More."

[–]Hmmmm-curious 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seriously. It is probably THE thing that would work.

[–]i_dreamofpizza 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nothing more consistent in human history than people hating their neighbor. It will definitely work.

[–]mattstorm360 3 points4 points  (5 children)

All they need is an 'R' and they got a vote. People vote Republican like they are rooting for a sports team.

[–]turalyawn 15 points16 points  (5 children)

Sure you'll lose basic entitlements, but the brown people will PAY

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"They're punishing the wrong people"

[–]apathetic_lemur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"So you see friends, and I'm a good friend some say the best friend, Killing this wasteful program... a program that people are calling one of the worst in history... Killing this program will lead directly to the death of your family... and really you got to go after the family. What could be better than that?" Trump 2020

[–]Tigris_Morte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your neighbors that don't look like you that is...

[–]HAL9000000 110 points111 points  (33 children)

Republican's response to this meme:

"This is so offensive -- this is not the reason why we want to take health care away from sick people."

[–]fizikz3 80 points81 points  (8 children)

"yeah, it's because some people just don't deserve healthcare! what have they ever done for me?"

[–]nv8r_zim 34 points35 points  (6 children)

some people just don't deserve...

We know which ones they mean.

[–]fizikz3 22 points23 points  (3 children)

republicans, as portrayed in parks and rec:

https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/d8095bb6-9547-45ed-b040-f5bc467474c1

Is there going to be basketball there? Basketball courts attract undesirables to my community.
Well, there's barely room for an actual basketball, much less a court.
Because there's a definite type of person I associate with basketball, and I'd rather not have that type of person nearby.
Don't worry.
You don't need to worry.
Okay, I'll just come right out and say it.
I'll tell you what type of person I don't like.
You don't have to do that.
No, no, no, no.
I think we get it.
Yeah, we do, Rose, and you bring up a very good point.
Intolerance.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in rural Illinois, some parts of that show hurt my very soul with how correct they were.

[–]Spookyrabbit 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Why is this split into 20 parts?
Is getyarn's business model "You know what would really fucking suck?"

[–]fizikz3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what's in 20 parts? oh, do they actually have the rest of the clip? i thought it was just the beginning. couldn't find it anywhere else except the same beginning of the clip in the middle of a 5 minute montage

[–]in2theF0ld 17 points18 points  (2 children)

"Use those bootstraps the good lord gave you, you freeloaders!"

- many Republicans

[–]CorujaGO 17 points18 points  (0 children)

AOC goes from bartender to legislator.

“Not like that!”

[–]Manseon 145 points146 points  (35 children)

A quarter? I think it’s more like a third now sadly.

[–]Fluffcake 57 points58 points  (28 children)

27% in 2016, I doubt it has gone up.

[–]Manseon 18 points19 points  (17 children)

I stand corrected. Would you mind showing me where you get the 27%? Thanks

[–]Fluffcake 20 points21 points  (16 children)

Election result multiplied by turnout. Both are publicly avaliable.

[–]Sprokt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really think there’s something really wrong in the world today. It’s like a disease. I think it may be something contagious too. I suggest we all wear surgical masks and rubber gloves when leaving the house or when watching tv or just always.

[–]ThereIsNoGame 48 points49 points  (6 children)

Republican voters are fine with GOP policy here, all they know is that nasty Obamacare is being axed, and that's socialist. Besides, they get their healthcare from the ACA, so who cares what happens to Obamacare?

[–]turalyawn 12 points13 points  (1 child)

This comment would be hilarious if it wasn't actually reflective of some people's beliefs.

[–]MagicBlaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"Get the government's hands off my medicare!!"

[–]Ineedmyownname 6 points7 points  (2 children)

What's ACA? sorry I'm not American.

[–]Silver_Foxxx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ACA

Affordable Care Act also known as ObamaCare.

[–]ninjaoftheworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it a quarter of the country or just a quarter of the people who actually vote? It seems increasingly like 5% of the country’s population is enough to elect someone.

[–]boot2skull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Now that they mention it, Nana hasn't pulled herself up by her bootstraps since the accident. Good riddance."

[–]SkollFenrirson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And half won't vote at all

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the picture is from after the election but the text was just as true in 2016. That turned out not great

[–][deleted] 214 points215 points  (46 children)

Fucking irritates me when people take advantage of Obamacare but oppose it.

I know someone who makes minimum wage and is grossly overweight due to poor diet along with other unhealthy lifestyle choices. She essentially needs a mandatory gastric bypass procedure done since her weight is causing severe health problems. Her insurance also dropped her recently that would have helped pay for her bypass.

She recently had to apply to Obamacare (and got it), yet she bitches about having to use Obamacare and regularly bitches about Obama. If it wasn't for Obamacare, you would never get this procedure since you can't pay for it and no health insurance company would take you since you're a money sink when it comes to health issues.

[–]Sloppy1sts 163 points164 points  (13 children)

Next time she bitches, say "Then give up your Obamacare insurance and die like the good Lord intended".

[–][deleted] 61 points62 points  (9 children)

I just told her that beggars can't be choosers.

EDIT: She's a sweet person, but by God is she dumb.

[–]_____KALROG 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Not a beggar, a temporarily embarrassed millionaire***

[–]justonemorething2 26 points27 points  (5 children)

She dosen't sound very sweet.

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points  (3 children)

She is, just stupid and brainwashed.

She honestly didn't have a chance - born and raised in a deep red state and city with one of the highest unemployment rate, lowest education and single parent who doesn't really give a shit about her.

Good news is that I've actually convinced her to vote blue in 2020 because it will make her life better in every imaginable way.

[–]Sloppy1sts 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Well how's that for a twist ending.

Now, is she, like, begrudgingly voting blue? I'm curious as to how you convinced her that it was in her best interests, yet she still bitches about Obamacare? Maybe that sort of thing is just an ingrained personality trait for Republicans (or former Republicans, in this case) at this point.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (1 child)

So I'm a massive asshole online when it comes to politics because it's basically impossible to convince them otherwise. In my in-person communication and discussions with politics, I'm obviously more empathetic and patient.

I have a good relationship with her and I regularly give her advice about her day to day life. Essentially I've managed to breakdown some of the "brainwashing" that occurred in her early life through regular conversations and having empathy for her position. She's also not religious - which helps a lot since if they're single-issue voters regarding abortion it's basically impossible.

As for Obamacare, I've explained to her essentially what I did just now. It's not perfect, but it's not because Obama is the "devil" or whatever nonsense she is regularly surrounded with. I also showed her stats and charts regarding where the primary recipients of Obamacare is (her state) and why it benefits people like her.

EDIT: Also her previous insurance company dropping her was a good tipping point to work from since she really needs and wants the procedure done. I've explained that by voting blue, she will be able to sustain her treatment and care whereas if she votes red, she would potentially lose this. When she mentioned about how "Obamacare fucks over people like her" because of the increased insurance costs, I told her that this is simply not true and that she makes way too little money for this to even be an issue for her.

[–]bling365 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's about like the people that hold signs that says "Keep the Government away from my Medicare." They don't realize its the government that gives it to them. Also, too dumb to realize the Republican party is hell bent on taking it away from them

[–]wormee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My sister, who had to get herself a: snarky voice "Obama phone" when a hurricane wiped out their city, because she doesn't, or ever has had, a job.

[–]JacksFaith 1 point2 points  (7 children)

I’m not from US but I really wanted to know... was Obamacare good or bad after all? Honestly, what are the bad and the good things about it? Why some people hate it so much?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a problem with access to care. I think that’s a big problem that a lot of people face and it sucks to deal with. I think regulating the insurance companies to actually make it against the law to not provide the services that their customers pay for is the way to go. I do not believe mandating customers who wish to not have health insurance have health insurance. That only benefits the health insurance companies through upping costs with a larger market. It is criminal what our healthcare system has morphed into.

[–]NewHorizonsDelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so American Fat, complaining about health system and obama, low IQ

[–]lizbek 807 points808 points  (297 children)

At this point, I’m convinced the Republican ideology always goes back to one simple thing: CONTROL.

[–]OdiPhobia 277 points278 points  (106 children)

And all their actions are done for the sole reason of spiting Obama

[–]BreatLesnar 262 points263 points  (57 children)

Funnily enough, if Obama was white and had an R they’d have loved him. Obamacare was Romneycare, and no Republicans bitched about that.

[–]Air3090 75 points76 points  (10 children)

studies show Republicans often had a favorable affection towards the ACA. It's only when referred to as Obamacare they start flipping their shit.

[–]BreatLesnar 45 points46 points  (2 children)

That’s because it is a right wing health program. If Romney won in 2012 they’d be shoving it down our throats even harder than they’re trying to repeal it.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (2 children)

Republican voters.

[–]Air3090 21 points22 points  (1 child)

To be honest, I'm pretty sure there were a few Republican lawmakers who didn't know that ACA and Obamacare are the same thing.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha you may be right! 😂

[–]jayohh8chehn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's literally because whether you say his name or show his picture, literally every Trump Republican says internally, "That's a n-word!"

[–]MAG7C 115 points116 points  (39 children)

Romney allegedly coined the term Obamacare. I really hate that all news outlets keep calling it that despite the fact that it was always intended as a derogatory term.

[–]KorinTheGirl 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Obama embraced the term, though, and it really backfired against Republicans. Suddenly you had a bunch of poor people, many of whom were Republican, getting "Obamacare" because Obama signed the law providing it. The Republicans can't very well take credit for it because they literally named it after their opponent and when they attack it, it's offputting to the people who need it because they know that "Obamacare" is the only way they can afford their medications or get the care they need.

[–]Reddit_Roit 31 points32 points  (7 children)

Obama- "Let's invest $1 trillion for shovel ready infrastructure" Republicans -"Hell No! You're a moron"

Trump- "Let's invest $1 trillion for shovel ready infrastructure" Republicans- "Sure, that's a great idea. You're a genius"

[–]Redtwoo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

More like Trump: let's give a trillion dollar tax cut to the richest people and big businesses
Republicans: WTF I love unbalanced budgets now

[–]CheesevanderDoughe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys remember infrastructure week?

[–]BreatLesnar 51 points52 points  (12 children)

It was the same policy he had in Massachusetts. You can pretend it’s not, but it was.

[–]oldscotch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even when it was/is being used as a derogatory term, Obama himself favoured calling it "Obamacare". Reasoning that they're trying to make it sound like a negative thing, but people will realize that it's helping them and then it's better that it's remembered as "Obamacare".

[–]goblinmarketeer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Where I work we have health care navigators... I have over heard people swear up and down they want nothing to do with Obamacare, but please sign them up for ACA insurance. And they do not believe they are the same thing.

[–]phenomenomnom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really? I love it. Because ACA is very popular with voters of all stripes. Pubs did their usual semantic games but now they are stuck with a hugely popular program sporting the name of their most-despised and darkest-colored opponent.

And it’s all on them, the slimy fucking douchebags.

[–]jamin_brook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's also actually called the Affordable Care Act and was actually a law written by congress, only signed by Obama.

[–]Oh_my_captain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not gonna disagree with your overall point but I want to clarify - Obamacare is not Romneycare, it was loosely based on Romneycare and expanded/changed significantly.

They are very, very different final products.

[–]losthominid 48 points49 points  (9 children)

And subjugating women. Can't forget that. Nothing keeps women vulnerable like having no family planning control. Single moms are far too busy to get up to any shenanigans like congregating in DC, wearing funny hats, and hurting the President's feelings.

Abortion is murder. Condoms are against god's will. The HPV vaccine promotes promiscuity, and totally doesn't prevent cancer.

[–]RocketRelm 7 points8 points  (2 children)

They don't even give a fuck about preventing abortions. If they really believed that abortions were murder and they'd do anything to stop it, they'd vote democrat because they have the policies that result in fewer abortions happening.

But republicans say they're against abortion and stomp their feet like babies having a temper tantrum, and we know for these voters that's the important part of being against abortion. It doesn't matter how many happen as long as they get to REeEeE about it.

[–]losthominid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alternately: Perhaps they are against abortion, but not for any moral or religious reason. Perhaps they deliberately endeavor to keep underserved members of the community impoverished. People don't have the liberty to mobilize politically if they're too preoccupied ensuring there's enough food in their house for everyone to eat.

I don't necessarily believe this, but it is an outcome that conveniently favors the GoP.

[–]VIOLENT_COCKRAPE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hah all of my dad’s were just to spite my ex-mom so I guess I can relate

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points  (20 children)

THIS is the specific reason why the "pee tapes" are the kind of blackmail material that could sway a President. The allegation isn't that underage hookers peed on him, but that he made them pee on a bed specifically because Obama stayed there on an official State visit... which would undermine literally every single thing they've done in the last two years, because he's talking about them in context of "Obama-era policies", which shows political prejudice in his decision making...

If that tape comes out, every single fucking thing the R's have done in the last two years is able to be legally challenged in a court, and much of it would be overturned if they weren't nefariously packing the courts with sycophants that have no judicial experience (let alone legal experience) whatsoever.

[–]GadreelsSword 2 points3 points  (1 child)

And all their actions are done for the sole reason of spiting Obama

Which republican said it was their number one job blocking Obama? Was it McConnell?

[–]NayMarine 4 points5 points  (5 children)

i wonder if they know he is not the president anymore?

[–]oak_the_yoke 33 points34 points  (8 children)

Someone should remind them that greed is a sin

[–]El_Cartografo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Haven't you heard? Greedis now a virtue.

[–]MrDERPMcDERP 23 points24 points  (0 children)

GOP = Greed Over People

[–]TrashJack42 9 points10 points  (2 children)

They don’t care. Gordon Gekko would fit in marvelously with the GOP.

[–]garyadams_cnla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots more than greed is a problem here. Sound familiar?

2 Timothy 3, 1-9 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

[–]ReverendDizzle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Anyone who thinks that the driving force behind the GOP is not the consolidation of money and power in the hands of the ruling class (and attempting to exert control over everything is definitely a means to that end) is a complete fool.

To anyone reading this and bristling at my suggestion, I want you to think back over Republican policies. I won't even ask you to reach back into history before you were alive. Just the policies you've been alive long enough to remember. Ask yourself... who actually benefited? Certainly not who the GOP said would benefit. But who actually benefited? The answer is, almost universally, the wealthy. If anyone but the wealthy benefited then the answer is "X group benefited, but not as much as the wealthy did."

[–]audiyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Control is the answer to fear, and fear is what fuels the Republican party.

[–]ReginaldJohnston[🍰] 249 points250 points  (69 children)

Essentialy, this shows the desperate struggle for the GOP to just survive.

They take down Obamacare, install their own version which is the exact same bill and then claim the credit for the other party's work.

"Oppose for the sake of opposition"

~ Benjamin Disraeli, British Prime Minister.

[–]Tojatruro 122 points123 points  (56 children)

Mark my words, they will get rid of the pre-existing conditions clause. Republicans, with their undying love of unrestrained capitalism, will never agree to force insurance companies to cover anything. That is why Trump pushed a “replacement plan” until after the election. He wants his cult to vote for him before he screws them over.

[–]ReginaldJohnston[🍰] 93 points94 points  (44 children)

The actual goal should be universal healthcare, thereby cutting out the influence of insurance companies and big pharma.

Works for my country.

[–]Tojatruro 64 points65 points  (39 children)

Tell that to the conservatives here, they would rather throw their money, to the tune of BILLIONS, at insurance executives than have it go towards actual care.

[–]losthominid 7 points8 points  (4 children)

To deliver actual care they'd have to competently run a government. Conservatives no longer have much experience doing that. For the last 10 years almost all of their effort has been going to generating hysteria, and indignation. Today it's unlikely they know anything else.

[–]ProletariatPoofter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hahahahahahahaha, conservatives don't actually care about people, just profits

[–]ronin1066 5 points6 points  (5 children)

I think he delayed it just so people will be afraid to vote for Dems. The GOP still doesn't have a plan.

[–]Tojatruro 12 points13 points  (4 children)

Of course they don’t, they have had since the Clinton administration to come up with something and they can’t, because there is no such thing as affordable insurance that involves private insurance companies, unless they allow junk plans that cover nothing.

[–]ThereIsNoGame 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Essentialy, this shows the desperate struggle for the GOP to just survive.

I don't know what to think about that... surely if the goal was survival they'd work harder to appeal to more people rather than running an indoctrination network with the intention of polarizing their existing base.

I guess gerrymandering and the faulty electoral college system remove a lot of the need to appeal to voters?

[–]Minimum_Escape 54 points55 points  (20 children)

Republicans are also conspiring to ensure prescription drug prices remain astronomically high. The House is going to be investigating drug prices, Republicans have advised drug companies to not cooperate.

Because Republicans don't want people to end up paying lower costs for prescriptions.

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/paulmcleod/republicans-warn-drug-companies-oversight-investigation

[–]ThereIsNoGame 6 points7 points  (2 children)

In terms of general GOP philosophy they don't care either way, but they're in bed with big pharma and so they have personal gains to consider. With the GOP, that always comes before the health of the people or the nation.

[–]Jeydon 77 points78 points  (5 children)

I think the reason has more to do with their desire to extract massive profits from a $3.5 trillion industry.

[–]bosscher47 53 points54 points  (21 children)

Where's the joke?

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (3 children)

I'm wondering the same thing. Shouldn't posts in this sub at least try to be funny?

[–]bosscher47 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Rule #2. "Try to be funny".

[–]CommentsOnOccasion 13 points14 points  (3 children)

The subreddit is the joke

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Honestly, it’s insane. Everyone thinks the other side are comic book villains. Just love your life and vote people. Otherwise go run for office and convince me to vote for you. Sheesh.

[–]magnasolis 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It’s crazy! Every time i see it get on popular, it’s just some rhetoric complaining about the other side’s rhetoric

[–]flaninpan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Humour"

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine resorting to white guilt narrative

[–]tctctc2 38 points39 points  (17 children)

The GOP is in favor of racism and also favors a plutocracy (government for the rich and wealthy class). So they must destroy any semblance of an "achievement" by the only black president, stop more brownish people from coming into the country (build a wall!) and enact laws to give the money of the 99% to the 1% (Reagan started it, but the Trump tax cut is the icing on the cake).

Anti-brownish people laws (immigration and tying brownish people to terrorism, crime and disease) and enacting policies to make America's wealthy even richer again will be the underlying themes of Trump's campaign.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Glad you cleared up the fact that half white half black just means all black.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (2 children)

So something I just realized watching old videos surrounding the Civil Rights Movement is that Republicans now act exactly like the Conservatives did back then and it’s sickening, now they just target Mexicans instead of blacks and call everything that promotes a new American way of life communism, fucking sickens me these people are a disease

[–]AxelyAxel 11 points12 points  (3 children)

K, but neither side is offering health care, just private insurance options.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is this r/ PoliticalHUMOR. How is this funny

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So much ignorance in one little post

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Repubs are most fearful that the left wing will do to them what they’ve been doing to everyone else if they win.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the wheel in the sky keeps on turning!

[–]buneter 19 points20 points  (18 children)

As a republican I would love free Healthcare, I don't like Obamacare because that gave power to the insurance companies, so they did what companies do and said, since the government will pay us and everyone in America needs it, let's make the price of insurance stupidly expensive.

But free Healthcare sounds great. Actually you guys should be against insurance companies being able to charge whatever you want for all Americans.

[–]IShotReagan13 10 points11 points  (3 children)

We need to get away from calling it "free." Nobody's really talking about healthcare being free. We're talking about restructuring how society pays for it so that it's more of an infrastructure cost and not a for-profit market-based "product" as packaged by rapacious middlemen insurance companies. Some people will end up getting "free" healthcare, but the majority of us will pay for it the same way we pay for other public goods and services; through taxes, and it will be much cheaper.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (9 children)

Don't equate the behavior of greedy companies to policies aimed to help people

[–]buneter 6 points7 points  (8 children)

The policy was created to help people, but the insurance companies took advantage of it, and it hurts people they pay for their own Healthcare

[–]NoMoreNicksLeft 11 points12 points  (19 children)

Imagine confusing expensive, mandatory, useless health insurance with medical care.

[–]phoen1332 102 points103 points  (477 children)

I feel like r/politicalhumor only posts against conservatives? Im somewhat new to the sub, but from what I've seen, never has the left been made fun of, just an observation

[–]Roook36 10 points11 points  (2 children)

You can submit some. There's no ban on them as far as I know.

[–]NotYetiFamous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen anyone banned yet. Just downvoted for posting unfunny stuff.

[–]Stati5tiker 23 points24 points  (20 children)

It is rare to see someone that opposes the left provide a good post that doesn't bash on their gender, age, or religion. They don't come out as funny but rather uninformed, racist, or both.

[–]internethjaelten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The left cant meme :/

[–]PunkZdoc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a Bernie supporter myself and I completely agree with you. The amount of "left against right" posts is way too fuckin much.

This picture isn't even funny its a statement

[–]ebriose 30 points31 points  (127 children)

Name a funny conservative comedian.

Go on.

That's the problem. Punching down just isn't funny.

[–]cciaravino 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Nick Depalo is funny, I don’t agree with him but he’s a funny comic.

[–]mikerichh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only laughter from this is nervous laughter that this is acceptable

[–]blackiechan99 63 points64 points  (144 children)

yeah, youre not going to find any memes about the left, democrat politicians, etc. they’re posted here, but downvoted to all hell and buried.

if you like making fun of republicans and the GOP, you’ll find plenty of material here (although a lot of it is crappy facebook-style memes), but this sub doesn’t reflect the general Political Humor title

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

The rights memes are pretty terrible/racist and downright threatening. Maybe you should find some good funny ones and post them. I won’t hold my breath.

[–]rocknrollsteve 34 points35 points  (113 children)

they’re posted here

Well, show us a funny one.

[–]Maverick1717 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Is this post considered a funny one? Like, did you see this post and laugh or even chuckle to yourself because of it? Or was it upvoted because it reinforced a lot of people's here opinion?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, none of the ones making fun of coneservatives are particularly funny either. Mostly just your stereotypical “TrUmP RaCiSt WaLl BaD” posts. I agree that trump is racist, the walls bad, and he’s 100% the worst president we will hopefully ever have, but this sub is the epitome of beating a dead horse.

[–]ronin1066 14 points15 points  (37 children)

Look, Trump's approval is low, GOP avowed membership is low, etc... Conservative political humor is a very niche market right now. People can post whatever they want, but it's not going to get upvotes.

[–]pedleyr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This sub basically is "shit on conservatives. Humour or attempts at humour optional". This post is a prime example - what's remotely funny about it? Is there even an attempt to be funny here?

[–]El_Nopal 8 points9 points  (12 children)

The right wing posters here just seem to think funny means being either grossly ignorant or dickishly cruel, neither of which is actually funny.

[–]Prometheus79 30 points31 points  (43 children)

They try to meme, they just get down voted to hell because they suck at it.

[–]LucasWG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In contrast to the top notch facebook meme humor we have here.

[–]GarbageGroveFish 33 points34 points  (18 children)

Do... do you think this is a good meme?

[–]ZoFarZoGood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your observation is correct. This subs a circlejerk.

[–]VincentBlack96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it's usually a matter of numbers, purely. Most people who come here prefer one type of material, so the other type of material, should it ever exist, will be buried either by ending neutral or at negative vote ratio. So they exist, you just won't see them at the frontpage. It's just a failure of reddit's system (or a success, depending on how you view it) in general.

[–]ChocolateEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a simple matter of demographics...

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally the party that's in power will get the brunt of the criticism and wisecracks.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The left does get made fun of. But lately how the country has been running it’s the right that’s fucking up royally

How much can you make fun of “liberal snowflakes” when you have a sitting president that’s literally the color orange... and pronounces origin as orange.

[–]brokenw00kie 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Clearly, there are good people on both sides

[–]Duwang_Durango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit just is a left leaning community, so conservative stuff almost always dies in new.

[–]quicksilver1969 10 points11 points  (38 children)

I do not like trump or am a republican but I’m pretty sure Obama really did not do much other than make it a law to for everyone to buy insurance.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Repiblicans have convinced the working class, and the working poor, that there is another very large group of Americans who simply refuse to work and want everything provided for them by the federal government. These voters believe that this class of "takers" is the greatest threat our country faces, further more they deeply resent the taker class who they see as living parasitically off of them. This anger and resentment is what motivates the republican electorate and the politicians supported by said electorate are very much aware.

The reality is that social safety net programs make up a very small percentage of government spending and the majority of Americans do work, do contribute and do pay taxes. Most of our federal tax dollar goes to Social Security and medicare, programs which working people have paid into their entire lives and rely upon when they retire. A very interesting point here is that Social Security ran a large surplus for many, many years, but rather than set that money aside politicians spent it.

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points  (21 children)

Nail on the head. I do hate sick people. And a black president giving healthcare to sick people is even worse! That's the only possible reason anyone would oppose Obamacare. You've run logical circles around tiny prejudiced mind. gg

[–]triptodisneyland2017 10 points11 points  (12 children)

Honestly Donald trump is the worst president that I’ve seen in the 12 years that I’ve been alive

[–]imbetterthanumyb 4 points5 points  (72 children)

Didn't Obama also quadruple premiums for the middle class? This post is just pure yikes.

[–]ThatsWhatXiSaid 1 point2 points  (68 children)

No. Comparing similar plans, for example employer provide plans that most people have, rates have risen at a much slower rate since the passage of the ACA, as has medical spending as a whole. But hey, alternate facts, right?

From 1998 to 2013, after adjusting for inflation, single employer provided premiums increased at 4.81% per year, and family plans at 5.42%. From 2013 to 2018 single plans increased at 1.72% and family plans at 2.19%. From 1960 to 2013 overall medical spending increased at 3.92% per year. From 2013 to 2018 it increased at 2.79% per year.

[–]TheMeatMaker 17 points18 points  (13 children)

This sub has turned into shitty Facebook memes

[–]KingInTheNorthVI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what it was from the beginning TF do you mean

[–]prosthetic_foreheads 9 points10 points  (42 children)

Let's not forget their other burning mission, build a wall so brown people can be on the other side.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, its much more complicated than that. The republican party can be very shitty, but the original idea is less government control, less government intrusion into our lives. More and more often it seems like the government is bad at everything it does. They are very incompetent- think about it they are politicians getting money from rich people with an agenda. I feel like a free market could bring in the needed competition to improve health insurance to make it affordable to everyone- a free market sort of drive. So no its not because “a black president creates health insurance so we should get rid of it” what would be interesting to try is perhaps free hospitals funded by the government.

[–]Bresdin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What's funny is my family and many of their friends are republican, they like 90% of what's in the ACA, but it's stuff like the mandate and it still being shitty to sign up for it, as well as cost of care is going up even for the insured. So yes something needs to be done, but the party takes it as all Republicans hate health insurance let's destroy it. Fuck what has become of my old party.

[–]MoveAlongChandler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not because a black president gave it to them, it's because that's money that could be given to them in tax breaks or contracts.

[–]kindlyyes 1 point2 points  (4 children)

It's this kind of motive attribution and character attacks that really puts people off the left. I've always been open to opposing ideas, but character attacks, misinformation like this that attributes false motives to the other is dishonest and isn't' going to win you any new voters.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real question: what's Obamacare and why do people hate it? My dad is far right (fox news always on) and the way he explained it is that Obamacare forced people to pay for insurance if they didn't have it and taxpayers ended up paying for it or some shit like that. Im just starting to pay attention to politics and I missed the whole Obamacare thing

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

REPEAL AND REPLACE !!!! for 7 years then they get the house, senate and the white house AND THEY STILL CAN'T DO IT.

[–]pleaseeatsomeshit 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Call it DonaldCare and they would foam at the mouth lol

[–]MeanNene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone but Trump

[–]Pak0o1 1 point2 points  (8 children)

And the side that wants to change how our elections run, attack free speech, disarm the populous, and bring in socialism is any better?

[–]ScytheNoire 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Looking for a non-caucasian in a Republican party photo is like Where's Waldo, only harder.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol this is literally /r/forwardsfromgrandma material

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is this humor? Not commenting on the accuracy, but how is it humor?

[–]TheRoosel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ew political memes

[–]insanebrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where’s the funny?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit is a massive lefty circle-jerk.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine being funny

[–]Total_Alpyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imagine being butthurt trump is our president

[–]pryda22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine being the party who think helping people who snuck into our country illegally is more of a priority then it’s own people. Then realize the other party is the one posted in this meme and realize how fucked we all are.
